If any of you have any problems or have any questions whatsoever, feel free to contact me, any of the mods, or the prefects who are all here solely to help you - and they'd much rather be helping people than enforcing rules, I assure you!!

Just incase you haven't seen some of the other threads yet, we also have a Sorting Hat thread and plenty of clubs for you join in the Lounge forum such as SPELL for Lupin fans, MOOOP for Order of the Phoenix fans, DODDD for the Draco fans, the SOSS for Snape and Alan Rickman fans and many more. Of course, we have a similar thread on Severus, The Severely Obsessed Snape Society (SOSS for short) which is by the way my personal favorite, and then also we have one on the Marauders where you can meet like-minded people who too are fond of Sirius and his friends.

I am a newbie here. I am a master degree holder and doing my second masters in Communication. I am from USA. I absolutely love anything and everything about Harry Potter. I am on a mission to prove people that Harry Potter series is not kid's comics but something much more interesting and philosophical. I have a question. I am not sure how the avatar titles work (I am not sure if that's what it is called either). I posted my first post and I got the title Showing signs of Magic. It allows you to make a comparison in between Harry's way throughout the books and your posting record. More information on that can be found in this thread. While posting, keep in mind that quality is better than quantity!

Are the Harry Potter books really for children anymore? is a thread where you can show your great conviction! Your comments on that topic will be greatly appreciated there!

I am a newbie but not exactly. I have been exploring the site for the past one week. I have a question regarding my signature. You might have probably answered the same questions n number of times. Sorry for raising it again. My signature contains 4 lines. However, when I posted a message in one of the forums, it became 6 lined. Is it because of the length of my post? I really want to retain my current signature and not removed by the moderators. I need help!!!!

You can find the signature rules here.

We ask all of the members to abide by the same rules, and there is a maximum of 5 lines of text for size 1 allowed on the signature of each and every member of the Forum. This maximum should be checked on your posts, because it looks different from your profile (which you've already found out).

My suggestion would be to try out with the different fonts available. Some might make the characters smaller. Another suggestion is to place your Magical information on your profile.

But always check on your posts, not on your profile, that it shows the 5 line maximum, not more than that.

Not BMX, just my cruiser motorcycle. 750cc engine. It is the same style as a Harley or BSA, just a different company. I doubt a wheelie can be done on the thing, since it is rather heavy.

Hi, Betherny! Seeing how you love reading and writing anything HP-related, I suggest you had a look at our FanFiction area where there are many interesting texts to read or where you can upload what you’ve written, provided that your fiction follows the FanFiction Rules.

Also, I believe discussion clubs on Fred and George and Severus are the right places for you. You can meet many like-minded members there and share with them your insight of those fabulous characters. Well, I wouldn’t call Severus cute, but this doesn’t change a bit on the fact that I am fond of him so much too.

What may also interest you is this thread where our members discuss, among others, what it is like to have a family and yet still be obsessed with so-called children book. Officially the thread is called is Older HP Fans, but don’t be afraid of its name and plunge, legs first, into the discussion.

Well let me say I'm one of those who randomly vanishes. It's not always my fault. I lose my net due to money problems or technical difficulties. I'm going to try this place out. I'm not sure it's the best place for me just because of all the young people. Rarely have I been in communities with people under 13. I'm not a snob and I won't be mean to you if you're young, but I sometimes have trouble policing my self as to what's appropriate for a certain age group. I was always super mature for my age. I was reading adult level novels (Dean Koonts, etc) in 6th grade. So hopefully that weakness won't get my bumped out of here on my rear!

But besides not realizing I'm saying the wrong thing at times, I'm really very nice and friendly. I was told I have a very peaceful, and relaxing presence. It makes people want to confess things to me and talk. Which I don't mind. Hopefully I'm just as open. I'm nurturing myself after a few bad friendships lately so if I seem closed off at first, I apologize. I'm not very active physically, but my imagination works over time. I'm very introspective.

Even though she's bossy, I've always loved Hermione. I can't say why. Perhaps because she's so confident and I admire that - because I'm so insecure. I have a recent obsession of pairing her off with odd ships. I've fallen into Dramione and Lucius/Hermione because how dark and angsty that can be. I know why its wrong, but I can't help myself.

I've read the first four HP novels countless times by now. The last three have been read each between 3-4 times, but it takes me longer because of work these days. I recently went back to read Book One after a while and I found myself having trouble. Rowling's writing style has matured so much since book one that I find it almost too simplistic. I find that odd since I'm a Librarian and love reading ALL books (YA fantasy is my fav).

The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite HP book. My other favorite books include: The Other Boleyn Girl, East, Snow Flower and The Secret Fan, The Golden Compass, Ella Enchanted, The Midwife's Apprentice, & The Handmaid's Tale. I also like the twilight series, also very populated by those younger than me. Maybe I'm a kid at heart? I always did love Peter Pan. I never wanted to grow up. He was my child hood hero. My favorite movies include: The Princess Bride, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Peter Pan (2003), and Memoirs of a Geisha. But I love so many more, it's hard to list them all. Favorite Tv shows currently include Lost, The Office, Firefly, Rome, Stargate, seaQuest, Scrubs and Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I love Renaissance Faires and dressing in Garb. I'd wear a bodice everyday if I could. I'm your archetypal geek. Glasses, t-shirts, video games, mountain dew and dungeons and dragons. I'm probably more agnostic, but if I had to chose a belief, I'd say something nature worshiping.

Oh, PS. I write/talk to much. I feel bad for those who have to suffer all the reading.

PSS. I adore Jason Isaacs. I saw him in The Patriot back in 2000 and fell in love. Do you know how happy I was when he was cast as Lucius Malfoy? My heart sang that day.

Hi, Darla! It’s great that you’ve found the awesome HP site you were looking for! And yes, one can definitely dream. Judging from other people’s screen names and avatars, I can tell that the two of us are not the only ones who dream about the HP universe and characters.

If your favorite character is Draco, you simply have to pop in A Draught Of Dramatic Draconian Drawls (or DODDD for short). This is the place where there gather our members in order to discuss all the various aspects of both Draco Malfoy and Tom Felton. I believe you’re going to like that place.

I also suggest you visited our FanFicion area where you are bound to find some really very good stories about Draco, and sometimes also about his affection for Hermione. I believe our Featured Fanfiction by Aethonon called Summer Chill may catch your attention, too.

Welcome, Andrea, to VTM! Please, never worry about writing too much. If you have something to say, which I can tell you definitely have, you’re welcome to do so. Just between you and me, if you checked some of my posts, you would see that they tend to be excruciatingly long sometimes.

I think that if you like Hermione, this thread – Hermione Is The Real Hero – is worth your attention. There are also other interesting threads dedicated to this marvelous character. The easiest way to access them is to use our search engine, typing in Hermione as the key word.

Oh, and as for pairing her off with odd ships, you are definitely not alone in this department. Draco/Hermione is much popular among our members, as well as others tend to ship her with Lucius. Never get intimidated by some negative posts at the beginnings of the threads. For some time now, the shipping threads have been for supporters only (unless stated explicitly otherwise in the title). Also, our FanFiction section houses some really interesting stories about Hermione and Draco.

I totally agree with you on the point that Ms. Rowling’s writing style has improved immensely through the seven books and sometimes the style of the first one seems to me just too simplistic, as you put it. By the way, I’m a twenty-six year old student of literature. Which leads me to the fact that VTM is populated by people of all ages and you would be actually surprised how many of our fans are the so-called older HP fans.

As for your other likes, you can find threads dedicated to them too. For instance: The Sims and Sims 2, LOST, Monty Python, Twilight (yes, I like it too ) and others in the TV and Media section of the fora.
