I just thought it might be interesting to share with one another some information about what books we are currently reading. I know that each and everyone of us is surely reading some of the Harry Potter books now. But I’m convinced there are also other books on people's nightstands or in their bags that are being read at present.

As for me, I’m just reading
  • a detective story by P.D. James Shroud for a Nightingale
  • a book on musical theory by a Czech author
What about my fellow members? Share with us, please! smile.gif

Well, I'm multi-tasking at the moment biggrin.gif

I'm reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.

I'm also reading Half Blood Prince out loud to my daughter and since my chapter quota of S and S in curbed at 10 per week wink.gif I have started to re-read Deathly Hallows too.

This isn't unsusal for me. I often have different books on the go at the same time, in different rooms of my house. Sense and Sensibility is in my living room, DH is next to my computer and HBP is in my daughters bedroom.

I also have a copy of DH in my bathroom for those times when I do manage to get to soak away an hour or so! biggrin.gif
Dementoid1
Well, I'm reading 'Fell' at the moment. It's by David Clement-Davies and it's the sequel to 'The Sight'. It's about a pack of Transylvanian wolves and all the trouble which is caused all because of The Sight (a power which allows whoever has it to read the minds of other animals), which they only think is a curse rather than a blessing. Anyway they're such amazing books. I strongly recommend them! biggrin.gif
Nymphadora Lupin
Weey I'm reading DH agin for the .,.. 4th time hahahaha!

But if it counts I'm reading revision books cos[because] i got my exams in 7 weeks. Total UNbuzz. ugh. but other than those im not actually reading owt![anything]

Mod Edit: Net speak and slang are not permitted on the forums, you've been aroung long enought o know this. Please be more careful. Thanks

Right now I'm reading The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring aloud to my younger siblings. I haven't read in a week, because we've been so busy. They've been bugging me to read, so maybe I will today! biggrin.gif
Potions Mistress
The detective story finished! biggrin.gif
  • I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale by a Canadian writer Margaret Atwood

It's a rather disturbing text from near future, something along the lines of George Orwell's 1984 only about female issues.
Nasuada
I'm still reading The Fellowship of the Ring aloud. But on my own I'm reading......

the Alex Rider Adventures. I'm on the 6th book, Ark Angel by Anthony Horowitz. They are such great books! I am totally addicted to them!
Potions Mistress
Atwood finished. My, what a disturbing text that was! So much like Orwell's 1984, yet there is hope which I think is missing from Orwell's novel.

Anyway, I've just started reading
  • Rabbit, Run by John Updike
I hope it's going to as good as his Couples. rolleyes.gif
Phoenix Lament
I'm reading Order of the Phoenix at the the moment (arthur has just been attacked - oh the drama!) but i'm also reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for school, and a LOT of revision books...exams start in May sad.gif
Sirren
I just finished book 7 of the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. The first book is Dead until Dark , and they were very good.

This is a funny series with a variety of different supernatural creatures.
Nasuada
I just finally got my hands on a book I've been trying to find for months!!! It's titled........
* The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen* by Syrie James.

I haven't started it yet, but I'm going to tonight!!
rebel_megz
I am reading
The Princess Bride by S. Morgenstern It is really good and I just LOVE the movie!!! Well the book is always better than the movie!
PottyHead
At the moment I'm slowly working my way through The Silmarillion

It's all about the first age of middle earth (LOTR) and the coming of the elves and the first big battle against evil. So basically everything before the third age, which LOTR was set in.

After that I have The Unfinished Tales of The Lord of the Rings to read.

I do love LOTR.

Right now I'm reading the Alex Rider series. I'm almost done with the second book, Point Blank. Its really good.

I'm also reading The Hobbit. Its the prequel(sp?) to the first Lord of the Rings book. I want to read that series, but I figured that it would make sense to read the prequel first.

Smiles,
Emma

woot.gif I finished the Jane Austen book! It was great! I absolutely loved it!

Well, on Saturday, I got out a stack of books, so now I'm on.....*Uprising* by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I'm almost half way through and it's great!! It's about three girls working at a shirt factory in NYC in 1911 and they're going on strike. It's so good!! woot.gif
Nasuada
Oh I finished *Uprising*. It was so good. Sad at the end, but really good. It took me a day to finish it. I couldn't put it down.

Now I'm reading *The Book of Three* by Loyd Alexander. It's the first book in the series, The Chronicles of Prydain. I've read it before, but I'm reading it to my siblings now. It's really good.
PottyHead
Okay, So now I'm FINALLY reading the twilight series ^^

I recently finished reading The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer. I recommend it, they really are enjoyable, if you can get past the old-fashioned English. And lately I've been reading various cantos from Dante's Divine Comedy.

About a year ago, I started reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, but I never got around to finishing it. I should start up again, I'd liked what I've read so far.
DracosLady
Well I'm reading like three books right now, the first is Haunted America a book about all of the ghost stories and legends in the US. The second one I'm reading is a true crime story called Driven to Murder, and the last book I'm reading is The Psychology of Harry Potter, it is a psychology study of sorts how the world of HP relates to the "muggle world" and how the two parallel one another in terms of schooling, peer pressure, mental illness, and how the HP world deals with these things differently than the "muggle world" does. It's quite interesting....
PottyHead
I'm on Eclipse now happy.gif

I think after I finish Eclipse I might read Interview with the Vampire or re-read the HP series... I'm not sure
mrs.harrypotter

emma_weasley
I just started reading the Twilight series. I have to admit that they didn't really sound like books that I would like, but I'm really enjoying the first one. Its brilliant. I'm about halfway done with it and will probably finish by tonight or tomorrow morning. woot.gif
PottyHead
Okay so I finished Eclipse - I love the Twilight series by the way. Much better than just a novel about 'vampires and forbidden love' which is what its been dubbed as by some people. So much better.

But right now I'm reading Salem's lot. Just started it like 5 minutes ago actually tongue.gif

Twilight is super awesome!

Definately.

At the moment I'm reading two books.

Lets Get Lost - Sarra Manning.
If any of you haven't read any Sarra Manning books you have to! She's a British author and her books are mainly for teenage girls, they're all about boys (especially toxic ones you can't get enough of) and basically growing up, pretty much all of them have one character or another losing their virginty but they're so cute and lovely. I recommend if you're going to read any of her books read the Diary of a Crush series. Girls, you will seriously fall in love with Dylan if you read them.

And at the moment I'm also reading Mein Kampf. I'm not a Nazi don't worry. I'm just really interested in history. And while it's taking me a while to really want to read it, its interesting to find out what Hitler actually thought, and the real facts about everything. So it's a hard read for sure, but it is interesting to know what went through that mentalist's mind.

Right now I'm only reading one book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
PottyHead
Okay so I finished Lets Get Lost. I forgot just how much I loved that book. Though I still bawl whenever I read the end. (and yes I did read it in a day - It only arrived in the post this morning, or well yesterday now lol) Such a good book. Seriously you have to read that book, yeah it's sad and cry-making (very cry-making, I honestly cried my eyes out finishing that just now) but it's one of the cutest, best books I think I've ever read. Not literary brilliance when compared to Shakespeare or Bronte, but for teenage girls, it's perfect.

So now, tomorrow, I'm starting on a new book which I haven't read before but looks totally amazing. It's That Summer - Sarah Dessen and I'll be starting that tomorrow. While still reading Mein Kampf also.
Joey Ravenclaw
I'm reading Septimus Heap Book 1: Magyk and Eagle Strike at the same time, but i CANT FIND MAGYK AAHHH.
I'm also writing a book which is coming along well smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

I finished Sense and Sensibility and started on Persuassion but was coerced into reading the Twilight books, which have done...4 times in a row in two weeks. Yep, I'm addicted! Once I have gotten them out of my system, I will endevour to finish Austen, I feel very guilty for ditching Captain Wentworth for Edward Cullen. Not tongue.gif
deatheater13
I'm also reading Jane Austen, but Pride and Prejudice. I'm only about 100 pages into it, but it's good so far.
I plan on reading Twilight sometime. Several of my friends read it and, they are completely obssessed as well as hopelessly in love with Edward.
I read that Septimus Heap book, Magyk, and really enjoyed it. I hope you find it, Joey
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
Im also reading Jane Austen but im reading Emma and im gonna finish it soon hopefully. Im also in the middle of to kill a mockingbird, new moon, the outsiders, and im also reading the looking glass wars. When im reading a book for the first time I usually dont leave any other books unfinished but ive already read all of these so I read which ever one I fell like at the time.

And deatheater13 you really should read the twilight series!
Potions Mistress
I've just finished reading Twilight. Yay!! What a wait it'd been before I could get the books. Though I'm more than eager to start New Moon, I want to finish This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald first. I was reading it before Twilight and it really deserves to be finished.

And I can only second all your friends, deatheater13. The books grow very easily on you and Edward is indeed mesmerizing. Aww .. In other words, when you have a chance to read the series, do it. smile.gif

I'm off working. The sooner I get my work, and other readings, done the sooner I will be able to grab New Moon.
Dementoid1
I'd never even heard of Twilight until you guys mentioned it! Judging from what you have all said about it, it must be good! I'll definitely try and read it sometime smile.gif

Anyway, I am currently reading Deathly Hallows for the second time. I am on the chapter 'Magic is Might' at the moment.
mrs.harrypotter
Hey! i'm in the middle (really close to the end) of the host by Stephenie Meyer! it's reallt interesting... and scary. anyone whose read the Twilight series should read it!

I am in the middle of reading a hilarious booked entitled Men In Kilts by Katie MacAlister.
emma_weasley
I'm reading the book "The Fire Within". Its a really easy read, but there are no books in my room that I haven't read, so I went to my brother and he gave me that one. I was desperate...

My friend is bringing me New Moon at some point, so I'll be reading that too.
Luna♥Lover
I'm re-re-re-re-re-reading Harry Potter 7, just for kicks, you know? And I'm ordering Twilight right now! Seriously, I'm ordering it from my library in between words!

I just finished reading the ninth book in the Pendragon series. It's titled Raven Rise and the series is by D.J. Machale. I love that series and the ninth book was amazing. I cannot wait until the last book comes out. I'm on the edge of my seat!! biggrin.gif
Sirren
I am currently reading a silly book by Katie MacAlister called Blow Me Down. Although I will be finishing that today and beginning the eighth installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series entitled From Dead To Worse by Charlaine Harris.

And if Sookie gets back together with Bill, I am going to be very mad.
Potions Mistress
Ok, I have a confession to make. My will is not strong at all and I also read New Moon last week. Right now I'm in the middle of Seize the Day by Saul Bellow. I don't know why I've been so intrigued recently by books depicting American culture. Anyway, I hope to finish it on a train today and to proceed to an entirely different continent. I want to start The Invisibles: A Tale of the Eunuchs of India by Zia Jaffrey which verges somewhere between a fiction and non-fiction.
DeSs
Right now, I'm reading short versions of classical tales of mistery, like from Poe, London, Dickens, Wilde, Henry, but in English (I talk Spanish).
The last one was Roads of Destiny, and I really like it. I suppose they are my favourite kind of books, when they have many twists, and different ends, and suspense ...
For school I have to read The lover, a french book (in Spanish, of course), but I haven't bought it yet, so I wonder how it'll be ...
mrs.harrypotter
Ya! some one is reading the Twilight Series! They are the best ever! I've read the books a lot and i love them... i'm waiting for the 4th book to come out... August 2nd is so very long away...

i read The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It was really good too. but i'm not reading any good books now... i read a book called The Book Theif which i might reread... but i really need to get to a bookstore
