passerby
We've had a few staff changes over the past couple of months, so this new thread is to keep us all in one place and hopefully let you guys know who we are!

This thread is for the VTM staff members to introduce themselves and basically let all you new guys know what our roles are here so you know where to go to for any help or advice that you might need as you surf through our little community. smile.gif

Basically, there are three tiers of staff : -

Admin

That's the big man himself, Matthew; Darren and Jordan, our techy guys; and me, passerby. Though there are others, we're the ones who have the most to do with running the forums. You won't see us around too much, our roles are more behind the scenes really, but we do drop by to post occasionally or when problems crop up. We're never very far away. wink.gif Just click on our usernames to find out more from our profiles, or to get ahold of us via Owl or e-mail. Admin show up in bold text.

Wizengamot

These are the moderators. They enforce the rules, keep things on topic, make decisions regarding what threads are allowed and so on. You'll see these guys around a lot more often. There are 8 of them all in all - Just the Droobles, Triad, Pixymajik, Capricorn, pigwidigon, etphonehome, gaburdette, and felix_felicis_444. Again, just click on their usernames to pull up their profiles and get all their contact details if you need them. If you get confused as who they are in the threads look at their display name because their names will be in gray

Head Aurors

These guys are the nicest bunch of people here, and hence are the first contact for you if you're having any problems getting started. They are Hilly, After the Burial, , Potions Mistress, and Pawprint. Their role is solely to help you guys out if you don't feel comfortable coming to a moderator for whatever reason. They'll greet you in the intro thread, point you in the right direction if you're not sure where to post, tell you where's the most appropriate place for you to post, be PM buddies with you if you'd like them to, and can help you meet people with similar interests here by pointing out the various ships, clubs and games threads we have, which are brilliant places to start off in if you're a bit nervous about jumping into some of the debate or theory threads.

Inquisitorial Squad Members

At the moment, we have two Inquisitorial Squad (IS) members, alkisti and sirren. Albus-wan is our High Inquisitor and in charge of the IS areas. The IS basically run the Great Hall area of our forums, which is our restricted access forum for more serious discussions. If you have any questions about that area, send an owl to one of them!

You'll also see a couple of others floating around from time, such as the news moderators on the main site, other admin and the translators.

About me:

I've been a member of VTM since May 2005. I've been privileged to be the admin on the forums since around Secptember 2007. (I'm horrible with dates!) I came slightly late to the HP scene, sorry to say. I wasn't a fan until after Order of the Phoenix had been released! I remember saying that someday I might read it, but I wasn't in a big hurry. I'm usually pretty reticent to jump on the popular bandwagon. My husband bought me a copy of Sorcerer's Stone for Christmas a while ago, and it sat on my shelf collecting dust for about two years! Finally I couldn't take all the inside conversations my husband and my best friend were having, you know. . .the "hey, you know who died? What happened with Voldemort. How sad was that?!" I read the books and have been shamelessly hooked ever since! My husband introduced me to Veritaserum, and I was extremely impressed with the information, the atmosphere, and the friendliness of everyone I came in contact with. After a while of hiding behind the keyboard, I joined the forums and started posting. Been addicted ever since!

I've been married for over 8 years and I have two kids. I am looking forward to them getting to an age where I can share this marvelous world of Harry Potter with them! I have a degree in English and Literature, and I love the analytical side of reading, hich is my most prized hobby. Reading! I love movies, too. Except for thriller/horror. I don't have the necessary suspension of belief to handle those movies. What else . . .I play the trumpet, and I pretend to play the piano. Always fun. I'm a huge scrapbooker . . .but not so big on taking pictures. I think the kids have something to do with that. I know it should be the other way around, but who can remember the camera?

Stuff you should know: I have a very sarcastic and dry wit. If you don't understand me, or think I'm odd. . .you're not alone. I'm a stickler for the rules, not that everything is black and white, but don't cross the ones that are! Arrogance annoys me. (Can I say that??) I love Veritaserum. (I know I can say that!)

A few HP favorites, and I'll stop talking, I promise!

Book: Half Blood Prnice: I think JKR's writing style was in its prime.
Character: Severus Snape for the adults and Hermione for the students. I'm anticipating this next book so much to see what Snape ends with!
HP Beverage: Butterbeer!
Quidditch Player: Oliver Wood
Weasley Twin: Gred.
Ooh! Favorite movie!! I know that there were so many things wrong with GoF, but I still love it! PoA probably is my second. Maybe third. I really like SS because it visually captured the world so well!
Least favorite character: Well, I'd like to say that it's anyone who ends up pointlessly snogging someone else, but I'll go with Umbridge instead.

There's a thread around here somewhere that has a whole big list of this stuff, so I'll stop there!

Welcome to Veritaserum! I look forward to seeing you all around the forums

I'll let the others introduce themselves now, but just to say that if you're reading this then you've made an excellent start here already by finding this thread! Welcome to VTM and I hope you enjoy yourselves here as much as we all do! smile.gif
etphonehome
Hello *Waves like a loony*

I'm Elaine (etphonehome) a really crass name I know but it seems to work.
I have been around since April 2006 a moderator since last summer I think, but have been into HP since birth( of HP not mine!!). I am mum to three and had hoped to get one of my older two into reading by buying the first book, but it was not to be. So waste not want not I read it myself and have queued up for the release of each one!

In the real world I live in the Cotswolds in the UK and work in a Junior school with 8 - 11 year old children. I have been married for a long long time and my husband thinks I have lost the plot.

I love reading and watching movies. I love things like King Arthur, Kingdom of Heaven and Tristan and Isolde (I love Arthurian legend) but am not a fan of horror/thrillers, I just don't get being scared for entertainment. I love Jane Austen (check out my signature)

Here are some of my HP favourites

Book - Order of the Phoenix

Characters - Severus Snape and Sirius Black, two totally different and complicated personalities.Hermione, I wish I was that smart! Luna...I wish I could get away with being that spaced out!! And dispite everything...Harry!

Drink - hmmm tricky, I'm teetotal, so maybe Butterbeer.
.
Quidditch Player: Harry, I mean come on the kid was a complete novice on a broom, and won his first match!

Weasley Twin: Fred...personal reasons...!! (Argh! and this was before DH)

Pre DH predictions
Dumbledore: Sadly,Dead! But will come back in some form or another, just not human!! (King's Cross Station as Dumbledore the white, not quite human...I was sort of right)

Snape..Good or Evil? Snape is in it for Snape. He's ambitious and looking after number one! (still think I was right on this one)

Harry a Horcrux? No...Passerby says in the thread...if he were, the book would be far longer than it's going to be, and that's good enough for me! (Move along thank you)

Biggest disappointment Death of Sirius, only because it means less of Gary Oldman in the movies! (But good that he gets a ghost walk in DH...so long as Yates doesn't cut that bit out!)

Advice from me...don't break the rules any single one of them, be kind, eat your greens!

Any other business....I'm like your mum, I'll keep you on the straight and narrow, but don't give me any lip or you'll be grounded...for life! tongue.gif

Capricorn
As is apparent, I'm known as Capricorn on the forums, and I'm a moderator. smile.gif I don't particularly like my username, but I haven't been able to think of one I'd despise less, so rather the devil you know... Does that saying fit here? Anyway. My real name's Laurette, and you're welcome to call me that!

My occupation nowadays is studying computer science and linguistics in Pretoria, where I live. I play the violin and love to read, and I head out to play a bit of tennis every once in a while, too. I adore watching films, especially if Alan Rickman or Emma Thompson is in them, and lively and interesting discussions give me a great kick. I can analyse and over-analyse anything.

I became a Harry Potter fan just after Philosopher's Stone (the film) came out. I loved the film, but only started reading the books a few months later when a friend lent me her copy of Philosopher, and I was hooked instantly! The second, third and fourth books were bought and raced through, and then came the long wait after Voldemort's return for OotP to appear... I used the time to watch Philosopher's Stone over and over and over, and thus began my great fascination with both Snape and the actor who plays him so exquisitely. wink.gif

I joined Veritaserum just over two years ago, and I reflected just yesterday on the fact that apart from times when it was truly impossible, I have logged on to the site in one way or another every day since. Some might say that's sad (and perhaps I'd agree with them deep down), but the discussions I've been part of and the friends I've made through it here have made it worth every second!

What else to tell you? Nothing of real importance, I guess. smile.gif Have a great time on the forums!
felix_felicis_444
Hello everyone! biggrin.gif I'm felix_felicis_444, better known as David. Feel free to call me by my real name -- my username is far too long and annoying. wink.gif I've called it the "n00biest" name on VTM, but that's probably because I was a big newbie when I first came here! tongue.gif (You see...people can change! Ehem.)

I am currently 16 years old (soon to be 17), and I am a junior in high school. This is the year when students get piled down with work and tests, as college is just around the corner! wacko.gif Nevertheless, I log on to VTM every day. The people here truly make this site such a wonderful place!! smile.gif

Contrary to what my information says below my avatar, I have actually been a member at Veritaserum since October of 2005. I came here and instantly made friends with numerous other members. Many of them have since left to take care of "real-life" matters, but I have no real-life. wink.gif Okay, I'm not THAT pathetic! Anyway, I became a member of the Inquisitorial Squad in the summer of 2006. Soon after, I was made a Head Auror, and by last summer, I became a Moderator.

So how did I become a fan of Harry Potter? I remember reading Sorcerer's Stone when I was in third grade; PoA and GoF were sped through shortly after. While waiting patiently (*cough*) for OotP to come out, I remember dragging my mom and brother to the Sorcerer's Stone movie. I remember leaving the theater in distress: they left out this and that and the other thing. Ever since, I have tried to go into the movies thinking of them as seperate entities from the books, but I can't find myself enjoying them nearly as much as I have enjoyed the books! smile.gif Moving on to the "HP Favorites":

Book: Order of the Phoenix.
Character: Luna will always be my favorite. I love her intelligent looniness! tongue.gif In second place comes Dumbledore. He's just such a great man in all senses of the word. His backstory in DH was a bit convoluted, but it enlightened us to the fact that nobody is perfect. I also love the character of Umbridge. She brings something different to the books. Something not so...loveable.
HP Beverage: I'm still underage, so I guess I have to say butterbeer!
Quidditch Player: Hmm...I'd say Cedric. His death was one of the better-written ones in the series, I think.
Weasley Twin: Both. How can I choose? That's too mean!
Favorite movie: I guess I'll settle with SS. It butchered the book the least.
Least favorite character: Ginny. She's just so...Ahh!

That's all!! See you around the forums! biggrin.gif
Triad
Greetings Members!

I'm Triad. I've been on Veritaserum since the founder, Matthew, made it in........2003? Yeah I think it was 2003 and I've been a Mod ever since, well except for that year or so that I was studying. So I'm older then any other Staffer. Not age wise mind you, just Staff position older. If that makes sense. Anyway.

About me: I'm what is considered the Mean Mod around here. I will poke everyone and anyone if they break the Rules. Age, how long they've been here, it doesn't matter to me. We're all part of a wonderful site so everyone must follow the exact same Rules, no exceptions. When I'm not trawling the site for rule-breakers, I'm generally found watching a movie, or reading a book. I studied Entertainment at Tafe (a form of University) and I loved building the sets and props so much that I've decided that's what I want to do. I love using powertools and I'm not afraid of any of them. Except perhaps chainsaws, but that's only because I've never used one before.

I first got into Harry Potter when my sister brought home PS/SS and GOF in 2001. She read them both but I refused to read GOF til I'd read the other two. It took me 12 hours, on and off, to read PS/SS and that next weekend I went off and bought all four books in one go. Spent the next few days reading them. Needless to say I was very tired at school that week, having spent many nights reading. I'm currently attempting to own one of each version released here in Oz, but that'll have to take a back seat because I have more important things to spend my money on now.

Umm....what else should I write. Everyone above me has written an essay but I hate essays. Never did them in High School. Guess that's why I failed.....but anyway. I'll steal their Favourites thing and use it. That'll help make this thing longer.

Fav Book: Prisoner of Azkaban because that's when we meet Sirius and Remus.
Least Fav Book: Order of the Phoenix - it seemed more like a Fanfiction to me, what with all the silly romances in it.
Character: Sirius. And Lupin.
Weasley Twin: George, for some reason he seems more interesting then Fred.
Good or Evil: Evil. Although there doesn't seem to be any Evil people in the series. Voldies not evil, he just needs his mummy. And Snape, puh-lease! He just wants people to think he's evil so he doesn't have to have any feelings for them. Draco - He's a Daddy's boy.

Well I think that'll do it. I can be contacted my any address in my profile, or by sending an Owl or Email through the site.

~Triad.
Hilly
Hi everyone! IPB Image Welcome to the site!

I'm Hilly, also called Taylor. You are free to call me whichever is easiest to remember, I'll answer to both! I am a Head Auror and you are free to PM or e-mail me at any of the addresses listed on here if you ever need anything or want to talk. happy.gif

I'm not really that incredibly interesting... I'm 15 and more than 2/3 of the way done with my freshman year. Thank goodness. I don't act my age, meaning I seem older in the way I constantly get annoyed with my peers and find it easier to friend people older than me. A blessing and a curse. rolleyes.gif I play volleyball (however I'm thinking about quitting or changing to tennis next year) in the fall, Knowledge Bowl and Math Team in the winter (to add to my growing nerd appeal), and act in the musical (though I didn't make it this year) in the spring. I absolutely love to read and write. You'll rarely see me not in the middle of a book. Speaking of which, I'm a die-hard Twilighter. If you are too, you're completely welcome to PM me and we can fangirl together. wink.gif I love British TV shows (specifically Robin Hood, Dr. Who, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and the Friday Night Project) as well as The Amazing Race and Heroes. I'm really into graphics- photography to photoshop. I really love both and both intrigue me. I'm an avid photographer and have spent many an afternoon sitting with a glass of hot chocolate or ice cream and messing around on photoshop. Most, if not all, the graphics I have (signature/avatar) will be of my own design, and you'll probably see some of my work for other members pop up here and there too. Guess I'm more interesting than I thought! laugh.gif

I came to Vtm in early '04 (if my memory is correct) made an account and stayed for about a year and a half. Then some things happened and Vtm got lost with me for about a year. When I returned in 2006, I had forgotten my password, which turned out didn't really matter because my account had been deleted. And I've been Hilly since then. happy.gif

I don't want to say I'm terribly late on the HP scene, but judge for yourself: I think I started my obsession with Harry Potter when the Chamber of Secrets came out as a movie. Then I was addicted and slept, ate, and breathed Potter. I knew about the series before then, but after CoS the movie, my brother had me read the books and here we are.

To follow the list and add more of my own:
Favorite Book: Order of the Phoenix.
Least Favorite Book: Deathly Hallows really disappointed me (though I feel like I can't hated, because it answered my questions, I shouldn't be so selfish that they weren't the answers I wanted. Regardless, DH just seemed really off to me), but CoS wasn't too interesting to me.
Favorite Character: I'm one of those people who finds it hard to choose, I love Lupin, Sirius, Snape, Lily, Tonks, Luna, Neville, and Dumbledore especially.
HP Beverage: Butterbeer!
Quidditch Player: I love me some Cedric!
Weasley Twin: I always give the same answer to this- Peanut Butter and Jelly, I say! You can't separate them so why choose between them? *half sob*
Favorite movie: I really like PoA, maybe because it has Sirius/Gary in it the most and I have a Sirius/Gary obsession.
Least Favorite movie: GoF. Just... no.
Least favorite character: I have to agree with David, Ginny is eww.

See you all around! As I said, Owl or e-mail me any worries, questions, concerns, or comments you have! I'm always up for someone new to chat to! smile.gif

Have fun, be good!
Just the Droobles
Alas, another point where I have to sit around and talk abut myself. rolleyes.gif This is definitely not one of my fortes.

But anyway, I'm Just the Droobles...I happen to love my user name. And the person who said it. My real name is Aubrey though, and it doesn't matter to me if you call me Aubrey or Droobles, or Droob...I've have various nicknames on here.

Not much to say about me otherwise. I'm kind of boring cause all I do is sit on the computer all day or just chill out. Kind of mellow, I know. But I'm 17, and I'm rounding the final turn of my high school career. I've had an incurable disease since the end of my sophomore year called Senioritis. Most people tend to get it their senior year, and symptoms include not caring about anything, refusing to participate in many school activities besides prom, and carefully but strategically putting off assignments until the very last moment. It's kind of unfortunate, but I'm enjoying it. I have already been accepted to a university, but I have no idea what I'm doing, which kind of freaks me out.

I was late to the Potter scene, only latching on after Prisoner of Azkaban came out in theatres. And even then I saw it in a discount theatre. Shortly thereafter, I read the first book, had to purchase the second even though I had received the third as a gift, and then got to reading. Had all the books read almost in time for HBP's release. Finished all of the books, and then attended the premiere of GoF. (ACK.) Joined Veritaserum in December of that same year, was completely, utterly, and disgustingly hooked, and have been ever since! I started as a Head Auror in February of '06, and hit Mod status shortly thereafter. So, it's been fun. smile.gif

Eh, what else?
Favorite Book: I love Order of the Phoenix. Some people don't cause they think Harry is too whiny. But I love it. I love emotion and thought.
Least Favorite Book: Oooh. I've only read DH once, but I found it highly boring. I might reread it, and give you another opinion though.
Favorite Character: RONALD WEASLEY! (How dare you steal that car!) I have bad habits of reciting long passages from the movies.
HP Beverage: I'll go with butterbeer. It sounds pretty tasty.
Quidditch Player: Besides Ron, I'll say Viktor Krum. Poor soul. Felt bad for him.
Weasley Twin: What kind of question is that???
Favorite movie: PoA. Made me fall in love with the series. I don't care if the Marauders weren't in it. Though that would have been a plus.
Least Favorite movie: GoF. Gag me.
Least favorite character: I don't like Hagrid. He bugs me.

I suppose that's all. I'm kind of a lurking Mod. Feel free to contact me though if you have any questions!!! biggrin.gif

Potions Mistress
Hi, Newbies! *waves and smiles* biggrin.gif

I believe this to be the proper place to introduce myself to you. I’m one of the latest extensions of this wonderful site’s staff. I am a Head Auror, which means that whenever you feel uncomfortable about anything concerning posting, or are in any doubts, or whenever you have some questions, just send me an owl. As soon as it knocks on my windowpane, I will go out of my way to help you. I will point you in the right direction or offer a piece of posting-related advice, if need be.

My real name is Jana. It’s pronounced with Y at the beginning, if anyone ever wondered, but feel free to pronounce it the way that rolls off of your tongues the best. You can use either my screen name or the real one. I answer to both.

People speak about how late they were to the Harry Potter scene. I believe to beat the majority of them. I started to read Philosopher’s Stone at the beginning of 2006. Now, who’s a Newbie here, eh? biggrin.gif To be honest, I didn’t even like the book much, but I wanted to read Prisoner of Azkaban and I was afraid I wouldn’t understand it without reading the previous two. I don’t know what’d happened in the course of reading the other books, but obviously I have fell in love with them.

I discovered Veritaserum in the course of reading Half-Blood Prince, but joined it only after finishing Deathly Hallows, that is some time in July 2007.

I'm not in any way special and my life is pretty predictable and ordinary. I will be 26 very soon and I’m a PhD student of comparative literature who spends her time reading, writing, going to the mountains and learning to play the cello. No family, no kids. I used to have a hamster once, now I have a fiance.

Now, I’m stealing at least some of everyone’s favorite categories.

Book: Half-Blood Prince. Why? Just proceed to the Character item on this list and it will be clear. It’s the one book having my favorite character in its very title. I love Mrs. Rowling for calling the book the way she did. And generally, I find the Horcruxes fascinating and the Cave utterly scary. Yeah, that’s about it.

Character: Severus, Severus, Severus! He’s so complex, intriguing, knowledgeable, skillful, unhappy, and … *sighs* Ok, I believe you’ve got my point.

Beverage: Elf-made wine! Anything elves have ever made was great and I believe the wine to be no exception. Oh, how much I’d love to taste it.

I might add some of my favorites in the future, but for now I just don’t want to keep you from posting any longer.

Have fun posting, obey the rules and if in any doubts, your owls will surely know how to find me. wink.gif

Looking forward to seeing you around the forums, guys! smile.gif

~Jana
pigwidigon
Hi Everyone

I am a Massage Therapist as my trade and I love my job..I get to help people get better Im my own boss and I can make as much or as little as I want...what more can you ask for in a job!

I got married in September 2006 to a wonderful guy named Jakub and I am loving every second of it so far! we have no kids but we do have an orange tabby cat named Hank..and hes probably the craziest but most lovable cat I've ever seen! (I suppose that kind of a biased opinion though! unsure.gif ) we also have a puggle (a pug/beagle cross) puppy named Gizmo who was born on November 25th 2007..he is awesome!

As for Harry Potter I came into the scene just after GOF..so I suppose that was fairly late in the game..all my friends think im crazy not only because Im obsessed with HP but because I moderate here still and im 26..but I cant help myself I love this place to pieces!!

okay heres my list
Useless Random fact I have a replica of the Elder Wand that I got from my secret santa at christmas and I think its my most prized posession at the moment, and yes I have secretly swung it around to see what it would be like if I was really a witch (okay my geek status just rose about 1000 notches)

Favorite Book: Goblet of Fire...In my opinion its when the books REALLY started to get interesting...and thats when I first came on the HP scene!

Least Favorite Book: on first read HBP there was WAY to much snogging..and I couldnt get over that...but upon reread I enjoyed it more..but its still my least favourite.

Favorite Character: Hagrid...I love him hes such an oaf..but would do anything for anyone.. I was greatly relieved that he did not die..

HP Beverage: Ill go with Firewhisky because #1 thats my mood today and #2 im of age smile.gif

Weasley Twin: uhhhh...I suppose Ive for some reason always been partial to Fred not sure why though...

Favorite movie: Philosophers Stone..its still the most magical of all of them...

Least Favorite movie: GoF. see others comments...I feel the same way..

Least favorite character: Umbridge..of course...and Bellatrix annoys me to no end as well..she is so whiny..it drives me nuts

I think thats about it..anything else you need feel free to look in my profile and you can send me an owl from there!

Happy Posting enjoy the forums!!

Pawprint
*Strolls in rather late…* Hi everyone!

My name is Anita and I am the latest addition to the VTM Forums staff. Feel free to call me either Anita or Kaitlyn, I don’t mind. smile.gif (For the record, my username used to be Kaitlyn...) I am a Head Auror, so whenever you have questions, comments or doubts regarding the forums, send me an owl and I’ll be most pleased to help! (It's as easy as clicking on the owl on my siggy!)

I am a 23 year-old journalist and I live in Costa Rica (stuff you’d like to know about it: we don’t live on treetops, there is no internet connection on camping areas –and the country is not a huge camping area, don’t be fooled by Jourasic Park– and we do have McDonald’s).

I was introduced to the HP verse on late 1999, early 2000, and completely fell for it. It’s a little bit hard to get English literature in my country, so no one really got me and I had almost no one to talk to about it. Finding VTM was a relief: I had just too much to say about Harry!

I love to read and I spent my last vacation re-reading HP, until the Welcome to the Bookshelf thread made me get a copy of Twilight and since then, expanded my addiction to book sagas to 2.

I also love to listen to any kind of commercial music (alternative rock suits me the most) but was introduced to iPods only last year (and I am still trying to figure out to work them properly.) There’s more random stuff about me on my profile (I kind of lost my inspiration after writing it.)

And for the record: I didn’t believe Harry could possibly be a Horcrux until I actually read it in DH (yes, I thought it was all because of the wand connection and his mom’s ancient magic) and I didn’t like the whole Snape being a good guy in the end… I was perfectly fine with his entirely evil persona. (I appreciate good enemies, that's why I love him!)

And here’s the list:
Favorite Book: GoF, even though Harry had it hard, at least he found comfort in Sirius being his family, and he learned a lot on relationships and magic too.

Least Favorite Book: CoS, I think it was too dark and all so secretive… Nah, I just didn’t like it.

Favorite Character: Hermione (I’m into strong female leads) and Sirius (because he’s Sirius!)

Least favorite character: Umbridge, seriously, the woman is nasty!

Favorite movie: PS/SS because it looked the most like what I saw in my mind and GoF because it’s my favorite book and it wasn’t so bad.

Least Favorite movie: CoS, it did look too dark!

HP Beverage: Butterbeer or pumpkin juice (why not?!)

Quidditch player: Oliver Wood! (Come on, the guy was really enthusiastic!)

Remember, any doubts, questions or comments, just click on my owl! wink.gif
Have a great time on VTM! See you around!
alkisti
Hello! *steps in shyly*

I am supposed to be here, right?.... laugh.gif

My name is Alkisti and I am one of the Inquisitorial Squad members, along with Sirren.
I have been a member in the forums for one year and a half, and I have this post since...let's see...October (2007)?

Veritaserum is one of the best fora I have ever been. Not only the layout is amazing, but also the people you get to meet. I'm happy to say that I now have acquaintances from all over the world! But the best part is how polite and helpful everyone is. Vtm is like a huge family! biggrin.gif

Now, about me...I'm 19 years old and I come from Greece. I live in Athens, the capital, and I'm taking studies on mass media and communication. My dream is to get involved with writing of any sort and the perfect job for me would be to work at a radio station and/or a magazine. My other dreams are not that wild...get married to Brad Pitt, have two kids with him, and win an Oscar. laugh.gif Alright, alright. My other dreams involve making advertisements , going to trips around the world and having friends everywhere in the globe. happy.gif

I can keep on going but I'm sure that most of you have already left the page. So, I shouldn't bore the rest!

Here is my Harry Potter list:

: Goblet of fire because it was the first really dark book and it had lots of adventure. Though I was sad Cedric died. He was too gorgeous to die.

Least Favorite Book: Hm...Maybe the Half-Blood Prince. I'm not sure. Mostly because there is no action. Though I liked the whole narration of Voldemort's life.... Oh, scratch that. I don't have a least favourite!

Favorite Character: Fred/George

Least favorite character: Hm...Bellatrix Lestrange for killing our sweet Sirius.

Favorite movie: Probably the Order of the Phoenix. I liked the atmosphere.

Least Favorite movie: The Sorcerer's Stone. The biggest disappointment of my life.

HP Beverage: Butterbeer of course!

Quidditch player: Ahem...Maybe Krum. He was a champion after all, wasn't he?

That's all! If you need help concerning the Great Hall or you consider joining, feel free to pm either me or Sirren with any possible questions you may have. We are here to help you!

Have fun on vtm! And don't let the magic go... happy.gif

Or else...
Let the magic begin!
Sirren
Thank you for introducing me, too, Alkisti! You're the best. hug.gif

I work with Alkisti in the Great Hall. Should any members have questions, concerns, or are seeking to submit an application to join, please do not hesitate to PM either Alkisti or myself directly. We both have links in our signatures with Great Hall information for easy access.

I joined VTM early in 2007 after just having read books one through six. I did not realize when I started the books, just after Christmas of 2006, that the final book was not released. Having not had to wait for any of the Harry Potter books, I was a bit ruffled to find I have a seven month wait for the conclusion to Harry's saga! I found VTM, and have happily been here since then.

Alkisti and I both became IS members at the same time. It is our goal to get members posting in there more frequently. So, post, post, post!

Favourite Book: Prisoner of Azkaban. Hands down this book stands out for me.

Least Favourite Book: Goblet of Fire. For me this book dragged on, where all the other books traveled at a fast pace.

Favourite Character: SNAPE. Enough said.

Least Favourite Character: I don't really have any characters I don't like. So, I'll choose Umbridge: she irritated the heck out of me.

Favourite Movie:
Thus far, Prisoner of Azkaban.

Least Favourite Movie:
Order of the Phoenix. I was extremely disappointed in the amount of detail missing from this movie.

HP Beverage: Firewhisky!

Quidditch Player: Harry.

Enjoy VTM, we sure are like a family here!
After the Burial
I suppose I can repost/tweak my old introduction, since it seems some of the staff are doing so. (I also need something to do.)

Okay, then, I am After The Burial, one of the Head Aurors on the site. To answer some of the occasional questions I am asked, my avatar is of a statue in Philadelphia of a lion fighting a snake. I thought it perfect for Veritaserum. Second, my VTM name is indeed taken from the chapter title in HBP, but I also chose it because I figured the events after Dumbledore's funeral would be rather intriguing (I joined post HBP and pre DH). Last, my real name is Darron. You can call me whatever you want. I truly do not care.

I suppose I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to Potter exposure. I did not read or watch anything Potter related until the PoA movie came out. What can I say, I am a nerd and I had "more important" things to read (I highly recommend Chaucer in the original Middle English to anyone willing to learn the archaic language).

Personal info...are you ready for my multi-paragraph essay?

I am currently 23 years old working on two different Master's Degrees (in Mathematics and Math Ed...at two different universities). People tell me I am smart, but I am more of a smart-donkey.

I am currently a lifeguard at an Air Force Base during the summers (and am already approching a lovely shade of cancerous bronze). I currently reside Montana where I teach at a university. It pays the bills (most of the time....I can't escape my male escort service... tongue.gif).

I am the 9th of 13 children. No, we are not Catholic. There are no twins. Yes, we are all related.

And now, the list:

Book: Half Blood Prince. The first time I read it, I absolutely hated it. Twenty-four hours later, after I finished reading it the third time (I have a rather annoying habit of reading each book three times before I am able to go to sleep), I started to like it more. The chapters After The Burial, Horcruxes and Sectumsempra are perhaps my favorite stretch of pages in the entire series.
Character(s): Albus Dumbledore and Hermione. I like Dumbledore for obvious reasons, although I didn't much care for his potrayal in DH. As for Hermione, well...I rather like myself. As a male Hermione, I felt obligated to like her.
HP Beverage: I would collapse with delight if I could get a barrel of Madam Rosmerta's Finest Oak-Matured Mead. I wouldn't turn down a bottle of Firewhiskey, though.
Quidditch Player: Krum. I rather like the Wonky-Faint.
Weasley Twin: The twins are like Root Beer and Ice Cream. Either is great alone, but together you have bliss.
Dumbledore: Dead, and I knew it.
Good or Evil?: I initially thought evil, but persons wiser than me showed me the light before DH came out/
Harry a Horcrux?: I was wrong on that one.
Insomnia
Well, it looks like it's time for me to edit/update this a bit. smile.gif

My name is Laura (Insomnia), and I'm the newest Auror around here. I've been around VTM for about 4 years, but I've only been a member since April '07. Hey, better late than never!

I've been interested in Harry Potter for a few years now. Incidently, it was by chance that I started reading the series. I was given a bunch of used books to put into my daughter's mini library. Among those books was Harry Potter and the SS. Having heard a little about Harry Potter and the craze going on, I decided to sit down and read it myself. Well, I've been hooked ever since. Within that first two weeks of receiving the first book, I had bought and read every other book that was published at the time.

Outside of the HP world, I have a wonderful husband and two terrific kids-ages 11 and 4. As a stay-at-home mom homeschooling my daughter, I stay pretty busy. But I always find time to hang out with my VTM friends!

Favorite Book: Do I have to pick? Eek! Guess I'll have to go with the Goblet of Fire. I really like the addition of the other schools and the trials for the Cup. Not to mention, Dobby was there!

Least Favorite Book: Once again, do I have to pick? Guess I'll have to go with HBP. To me, it just seemed like a book that was filled with a bunch of info as a preparation for DH. Not to mention, DD died. sad.gif

Favorite Character: Luna-I just love her take on life!

Least Favorite Character: Umbridge-enough said

HP Beverage: Butterbeer! I can't handle the hard stuff. . .

Quidditch Player: Uhhhh. . .

If you're still reading this, thanks for sticking around. If you have any questions or problems around the forums, just drop me a PM. I'm always here to help! happy.gif
