after The Battle With Voldemort, Harry Sits At His Kitchen Table In 12 Grimuald Pl. And Wonders About Going Back To School.

The boy who lived, twice, sat in his kitchen at 13 Grimmauld Place. At one point in time it had been the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix, now Harry called it home. Harry sat in deep thought, but was presently pulled away from them by a questioning Kreacher. “Master Harry?” “Yes Kreacher”, replied Harry. “Kreacher is preparing breakfast, what would Master Harry like?” “I would like to have something light”, replied Harry. “Thanks Kreacher.” “You are most welcome Master Harry.” Harry noticed the locket of Regulas Black that still hung around Kreacher’s neck and lay proudly on his chest like a medal. Harry was thinking about the place to which he might be heading and was glad he asked Kreacher to keep his breakfast light. Harry never liked apparitating, that sensation similar to being forced through a very tight rubber tube, and with a heavy meal it was 10 times worse. Harry’s thoughts drifted back to the place he now called home, 13 Grimmuald Place, the house he inherited from his Godfather Sirrius Black. He did think about returning to Number 4 Pivet Drive and thought, am I mad, and dismissed that idea straight away. Harry did think about going to the Burrow. The Weasley family would welcome him with arms wide open; this Harry knew at once, but still, he didn’t want to impose. Hermione was gone, not for good, but she had to find her parents in Australia and remove the spell she had put them under to keep Vlodemort from finding them. Was it finally over, thought Harry? “Can I just be plain old Harry Potter now?” he said softly with a deep sigh. Thus Harry returned to the house Sirrius left for him, 13 Grimmauld Place.

Harry looked up at the pictures of Fred, Tonks, Professor Lupin, Sirrius, and of course Lily and James Potter, all smiling at him. Just below the other pictures hung the pictures of Dumbledore and Professor Snape, Harry loved them all. This place; it felt like home, like the Burrow, like Hogwarts, warm and inviting. Harry removed his wand, conjured his patronus, and sent it to the Burrow. This is the question Harry sent along with his patronus, “Harry Potter would like to know if his arrival would be an inconvenience?”

The Burrow, where the garden gnomes had overtaken the garden during the summer, was as always full of people. Bill and Fleur were there, and Charlie had taken time off and in his words, “left the fire breathing lizards with wings in, Romania.” Everyone, Mrs. Weasley especially, was happy to have Percy home. George had fashioned a patch, the exact match to the color of his hair, to cover the hole where his ear had been. “I just let my hair grow a little longer”, he stole a glance at his mother. Mrs. Weasley smiled, “and it matches perfectly, no stares, no questions, see?” “Whatever”, said Ginny and Ron simultaneously. “Ron, have you seen my book Extremely Advanced Runes: An Exploration of Runes And The Symbols. The World Wide View?” asked Hermione. “I was flipping through it and must have left it on the table out back”, replied Ron. “Sorry, I’ll get it. Accio Extremely Advanced Runes.” “You know, you really should practice your nonverbal commands Ron”, said Hermione. Hermione arrived 3 days prior. Once she found her parents and lifted the spell; they decided to stay a couple more weeks. Hermione sat them down and explained everything in detail to her mom and dad. She prayed they would understand why she had to remove all memory of their daughter. They were upset, but her father said it best, “we’re just happy we didn’t lose our ‘Mione.” All was forgiven.

The silver stag cantered into the kitchen where everyone was sitting and conversing. Ron, holding Hermione’s hand gently in his, Hermione looked at Ron. “What?” Ron was staring into her pretty brown eyes, he leaned in and gave her a light, but passionate kiss. “I don’t know what I’d done if I had lost you. I…I love you Hermione Granger.” It came out before Ron could stop it, but he didn’t care. He wasn’t even embarrassed when Hermione said, “I love you to Ron.” The kitchen was suddenly quiet. “Don’t start”, said Ron, pointing a finger at his brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley beamed. The silver stag announced Harry’s question. “Blimey”, cried Ron. “Inconvenience…ha!” Ron’s patronus, a silver dog, sprang from his wand. Harry waited for the reply from the Burrow; in the bedroom he called his own. Looking at the picture of him zooming about, a foot off the ground, with his fathers’ legs chasing him, the silver patronus of a dog burst into the room. “Just who would be inconvenienced by you dropping in?” asked Ron’s voice. “Mum says to get here…now.” A smile spread across Harry’s face, “oh and so does Hermione.” This time the smile reached his eyes. “Kreacher”, a small crack, “yes Master Harry Potter?” “I’ll send an owl to let you know about school al’right?” “Yes Master Harry”, Kreacher replied. “Ok then, I’m off.” Harry pointed his wand at his trunk, recited the charm to send it to the Burrow, and turned on the spot.

That felling of being forced through a very tight rubber hose was upon him, and just when he thought he would suffocate fresh air. He could breathe again; he was looking at the front door of the Burrow. Harry reached for the door handle, but before he could grasp and turn the handle, Ginny stepped out, and threw her arms around him. “It’s so good to be here”, said Harry. “I missed you too”, said Ginny eyes brimming with tears. “Hermione has been asking about you”, said Ginny, wiping the tears from her eyes, and taking Harry by the hand. “Come on, mum and dad can’t wait to see you.” “How’ve you been Ginny?” asked Harry. He felt lighter than air. “I’ve been fine…missing you”, replied Ginny. Shouts of, “Oi Harry!” “Harry!” “It’s Harry!” filled the room. Harry was greeted with a bone crushing hug from Mrs. Weasley. “Glad to have you here, are you hungry?” asked Mrs. Weasley. “No”, replied Harry. “Kreacher made breakfast just before I arrived, thanks.” “Hello Harry”, it was Mr. Weasley extending his hand. “Mr. Weasley, nice to see you, sure I’m not an inconvenience?” “Positively not”, said Mr. Weasley, “make yourself at home; your things are upstairs in Ron’s room.” “Right, thanks again”, said Harry. “George, all right”, asked Harry. “Harry”, said George, “there’s something I must say.” “Our brother loved you Harry, like a brother, as we all do, well except for mum and dad of course. They love you like you were one of their sons. Fred’s sprit is strong, and he lives on in all of us including you. So to answer your question, yes”, said George softly. “Yes Harry, we’re all right, so no sulking ‘eh.” “Yeah”, said Harry. Fleur gave Harry a peck on the cheek. “’Arry, I’m so glad Bill and I could see you before we left.” “Me to”, said Harry as he took Bill’s hand. Charlie, powerfully built, with a few scars on his hands and forearms took Harry’s hand. Despite his strength, Charlie gave a firm, but not crushing handshake. “Good to see you Harry”, said Charlie. “Good to see you to”, said Harry. “Hey Percy”, said Harry, “how’s the Ministry doing these days?” Percy had returned to the Ministry with urgings of Mr. Weasley. “No more Death Eaters, No Voldemort, no strange disappearing going on. It will take time to get everything back to order, but we’re all up to the task. Kingsley Shaklebolt is an amazing wizard, if anyone can set things right, he can.” “That’s fantastic”, said Harry. Harry’s mood soared, this was the best he’d felt in weeks. Maybe, just maybe this year will be…normal, thought Harry.

He turned and looked into the eyes of 2 best friends, they’d been there threw thick and thin. Even when Ron left for that time last year, he was still with us, thought Harry. “How’s your parents ‘Mione?”, asked Harry. “Hug me Harry, you big oaf.” Harry hugged her like a sister he’d been looking for and found. “I love you Harry.” She was crying in big sobs that shook her body, and Harry’s as well. Harry smoothed her hair and said, “I love you to “Mione.” With tears streaming down his cheeks, and feeling a little warm, he wiped away the tears. Mrs. Weasley handed Hermione a tissue. “Thanks Mrs.Weasley”, said Hermione. “Harry Potter”, said Ron, fighting a losing battle to hold back the tears. “Ron, my best mate, my brother, I should’ve kept in touch over the summer, I’m sorry I didn’t.” Ron now very red in the face mumbled, “Don’t worry about it, forget it.” “Thanks for everything”, said Harry. “You 2 returning to school?” “Oui, we have your book list right here ‘Arry”, replied a tearful Fleur. “We’re all going to Diagon alley tomorrow”, said Ginny. “Most of the old shopkeepers are back, including Mr. Ollivander, and he can’t wait to see you Harry.” “Great, I can’t wait to see them either. Wesley’s Wizarding Wheezes still open George?” “Yeah, I’ve had to hire 3 people, not including Lee Jordan, and we can barley keep up.” “I can’t wait for the homework”, said Hermione. “Only you would say that ‘Mione”, said Ron. Ginny walked over to Harry and gently took his hand. “I’m headed out back Harry, you coming then?” Ron asked. “Yeah, sure”, said Harry, looking at Ginny with smiling eyes, “yeah.”
