---luna Is The Best Auror The Ministry Has, But With The Battle And Defeat Of The Dark Lady Cho Chang, Luna Was Left In Emotional Pain.
She awoke with a start, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Her face, wet with tears; she was supporting herself with her left arm, while she grasped her heaving chest with her right hand. Swallowing hard, she finally got her breathing under control and reached for the glass of water on the night stand. Empty, “damn” she said aloud to no one but herself. 4:00AM is what the clock on the wall read, maybe she would try to get a couple more hours of sleep.
“Morning Hermione”, she said with a smile. “Good morning…Luna, are you alright?” “Yes fine thank you, why do you ask?” “Well, you look a bit well…haggard.” “I haven’t been sleeping well, but I do feel fine.” “Ok”, said Hermione, “let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.” “Thanks Hermione, I really appreciate that.” Luna, sat at her desk in the Department of Mysteries, Auror Division, contemplating; would she be able to continue? Raised voices in the office brought her back to here and now. “She’s the best auror we’ve got, and I’ll not have her pushed aside or just, just thrown away! It wasn’t her fault, it was no ones fault!” Harry’s voice boomed. “I’m not asking you to do that, if you’d just listen! I’m just saying she needs more time, it’s too soon Harry, it’s just too bloody soon!”, Ron’s voice boomed right back. “Harry’s on my side,” said Luna under her breath. She pounded on the office door. “Come.”, both Harry and Ron spoke at the same time. The 2 friends, both obviously angry, looked at her with questioning eyes. Luna spoke first, “is my coming back to work a problem, or should I just leave straight away, because I don’t need the headache?” “Look Luna,” said Ron, “we all want you here, really. It’s just that, are you ready to come back?” “I wouldn’t have come back if I wasn’t.”, said Luna, with eyes of fire. “Well,” said Harry, “there you have it.” Luna went back to her desk sat and put her head in her hands. Were the walls closing in on her, she had to get some fresh air. She walked briskly to the visitor’s entrance, stepped in and in seconds was up top in the morning air, breathing deeply.
It was 60 Celsius, Luna chased the Dark Witch to the Sahara and in the heat of the day, and they dueled. The Dark Witch conjuring demons of sand with 26” razor sharp teeth that snapped at Luna, 2 at a time, then 3, then 1, then 5. Sand and heat were all around her; conjuring cursed fire, everything went quiet -- all the sand demons were turned into huge grotesque glass creatures. Luna doused the cursed fire and brought down the wind with the force of 3 tornados, the wind blew the glass demons to bits. She hit the ground, her left side screaming at her. The Dark Witch had hit her with a ripping curse, and that’s exactly what it did, ripped a 6” long tear into her. She heard screaming and realized the screaming voice was hers. “I’ve got to do something and now. “, Luna thought. The air was still full with sand. “What Voldemort didn’t destroy, I will and take all that you love! Did you hear me Luna?” “You couldn’t take a long walk off of a short pier if you had detailed directions!” growled Luna. “Electrum maxima!” thought Luna with all her might. Ka-boom, and electrical charge, so brilliant, that it was seen halfway around the world exploded. Blinded, Luna staggered back and fell against something hard. The electrical charm had created a giant glass cylinder that went higher than her light sensitive eyes could see. Luna was not the girl, no, woman most of her friends had known her to be…not any more. Since becoming an Aruor, she’d stopped to other who wanted t follow in Voldemorts path of chaos and destruction. She had lost 2 fingers on her right hand and 1 on her left hand, and multiple scars on her body. “I’m so tired”, thought Luna, “but I need to finish this…now. “Cho, I’m only going to give you one chance to hand over your wand! We can do this easy, or we can do this -- easy!” yelled Luna. “You’d just love that now wouldn’t you, you and all your soon to be deceased auror friends!” spat Cho, “Especially that Harry Potter! Well, where is he eh? Is he still letting others fight his battles for him, it appears so!” “Harry is helping the muggle families you’ve tried to destroy on this 2 year rampage. You’ll just have to deal with me Cho!” “So be it!” said Cho, throwing curse after curse, and hex after hex at Luna. Some of the curses bounced off of the glass wall and where it hit, blew holes in the wall. Despite her injury and fatigue, Luna was still amazingly quick and nimble. She blocked the curses and hexes with surprising ease, rolled and ducked the ones she couldn’t block. “Enough of this.” Luna thought. “Last chance Cho, hand over your wand!” “Never!” screamed Cho. “Fine Cho, have it your way!” Luna, in one swift and fluid motion; she was so fast that Cho never had a chance to react. Removed a small bottle of potion, removed the cork, and thought “nargles” and threw the bottle in the air. Once released, what could have been millions of tiny human like creatures with needle sharp venomous teeth hit Cho and knocked her back off her feet. Luna then used the water charm that caught and engulfed Cho. Luna got the idea of the water cell after Harry told her how Dumbledore had trapped Voldemort. Luna then raised the screaming Cho Chang as high as she could and brought the water cell down as fast as she could. The water cell hit the ground, exploded, and sent the Dark Witch rebounding back into the air. Luna then drew the water, sand, and nargles back into her, not her wand, into her, and released all the magical energy and power she contained at Cho. Now, if we standing outside of this giant glass cylinder looking in, we would have seen a huge dark pit open under the 2 dueling witches, because all the sand that was encased in that glass cylinder was drawn into the witch in what appeared to be midnight blue robes with bronze stars along with the water, and what may have been to us millions upon millions of gnats covering the other witch. Luna used a spell to change that raw natural and magical energy into a jet stream of air that caught Cho at the height of the rebound and blew her and Luna through the glass tower, causing it to shatter, return to sand, and refill the hole. Dazed and more than a little confused, Luna pulled herself up to 1 knee, brushed as much sand from her robes and hair as she could. Covering the wound on her left side with her right hand, she stood up. The heat was so oppressive now. Why hadn’t she felt it like this when she arrived here? She was still bleeding, though not as bad as before, she looked off in the distance and saw the crumpled body of Cho Chang, Dark Witch. With her wand at the ready, Luna felt for a pulse, very faint, and a sigh of relief passed through her lips. “By order of Kinglsey Shaklebolt, Minister of Magic, I do hereby confiscate your wand Cho Chang and place you under arrest for the use of Dark Magic in the murders of witches, wizards, and muggels.” “It’s time to go home.” Luna grasped the Dark Witch Cho’s hand, concentrated on Ministry of Magic, and turned on the spot.
Luna returned to the present, someone was speaking to her, asking a question. “Ma’am, you alright?” “Hmm”, replied Luna. “I asked if you were alright, you’re not lost or sick are you?” “No, I fine, just thinking about life you know?” “Yeah, ok, take care then.” “Thanks”, said Luna, “I will.” Luna returned to the auror’s office where aurors’ Pansy Parkinson and Hermione Granger were waiting for her. “Are you sure”, Pansy started to ask but was cut short by Luna. “Yes; I don’t need anymore time away. Thank you all for your concern, but I am fine.” Pansy started to say something else, “no one knew she--”
“Enough.”, Harry butted in. Harry said, “I’ll bet she didn’t know, so how could any one else? Luna did what she’s supposed to do, she’s the best we’ve got and I’ll not lose her because of… of, Cho’s. Look Luna”, said Harry, “you need to talk about this. You and Pansy are the best of friends, please Luna, have a talk with her or Hermione, anyone love, but please talk to someone, because it wasn’t your fault.” Her face wet with tears, Luna gave Harry a powerful hug and said loud enough for Harry, “you always know the right things to say, thanks Harry.” “No problem”, replied Harry, looking at her with his right eye, his real eye, but both seemed to be smiling.
One year after her battle with Cho, Luna was back to her what now normal self was. No more dreams of well, pain. She, Hermione, and Pansy now the best friends, were heading to Hogwarts to help with the grading of O.WL. Testing in the Defense of the Dark Arts. The 3 witches were laughing and joking, they apparitated from the Ministry to the front gate of Hogwarts.
