Lily Evans and James Potter were both in their seventh, and final, year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Since their fifth year James had spent most of his time trying to either ask Lily out or get her attention. Lily, on the other hand, swore she hated, him calling him ‘arrogant’ and ‘self-centered’, but her views were about to get turned upside down forever.

One October day, Lily and her friends, Catalina, Mary, Liea and Alice were sitting down by the Great Lake doing homework.
“Oh my gosh, isn’t Sirius Black looking hot lately? I so want to go out with him!” exclaimed Mary.
“Honestly, Mary, he’s always looked great but do you really want to be just another one of ‘Black’s Girls’? Anyway, Potter’s looking good too,” Lily said trying to hide her face as she blushed.
All the girls broke into fits of giggles before Catalina spoke, “Lil, does this mean you finally like him? You better like him; Remus and I have a bet running on it.”
Catalina was the mature, sensible girl in their group so it was fitting for her and Remus Lupin (the mature Marauder) to start dating since their fifth year.
Mary, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. She was boy-crazy and would date anyone based on looks alone.
Liea was the quiet girl who spent a lot of time writing and believed that all boys at Hogwarts were immature and stupid.
Alice was the most outgoing, yet still sophisticated, one of the group. She had been in a relationship with a boy, who was a year older than her, since their fourth year. This boy, whose name was Frank Longbottom, was currently doing Auror training.
“Okay, okay, I may happen to have a crush on Potter, but so what? It’s not like I’m in love with him or anything,” Lily blurted out, her skin going as red as her flame-coloured hair.
“Sure… whatever you say, Lil. You know you could ask him out,” Alice said, to which Lily shook her head. “Fine then, I dare you. You have to do it now or you’ll get the punishment.”
‘The punishment’ was something all five girls had come up with in their first year. If someone didn’t complete a dare then they had to go skinny-dipping at midnight in the Great Lake, or do a nude run around the boys’ dormitories.
“Fine, I’ll ask him out. But only if Liea asks out Peter,” Lily said, folding her arms.
“Okay then, let’s go find them,” Liea said and the both got up to find the Marauders.

Down by the Forbidden Forest the Marauders were thinking up a big prank to finish Hogwarts memorably.
“We could do fireworks?” Sirius suggested.
“Nah, the teachers will be suspicious if you try importing fireworks. I say we bewitch water balloons to chase people before bursting over their heads,” Remus suggested.
“You’re brilliant, Moony. Now we just need to get water balloons,” James said, “I’ll get Frank to buy us some and transfigure them into something before he sends them here.”
“Why can’t we transfigure fireworks?” asked Peter slightly confused.
“Transfiguring them ruins their quality, which is why they have an anti-transfiguration spell on them,” Remus said before turning around to see Lily and Liea walking towards them.
“Hey, Evans!” James yelled and bounded forward to greet her. “For what do I owe this pleasure?”
Lily blushed and Liea smiled encouragingly before walking off to the other Marauders; she secretly had no intention of asking Peter out.
“Well, Potter… I needed to talk to you about something important,” Lily hesitated.
“What is it?” James looked curious.
Before James could even have said ‘Quidditch’, Lily had wrapped her arms around his neck and met his lips with hers. James kissed her back, pulling her deeper and deeper into a passionate kiss.
“I love you, James Potter,” Lily whispered softly in James’ ear as they broke apart.
“I love you too, Lily Evans,” James whispered in her ear. “Now, will you go out with me?”
Lily pretended to think hard for minute. “Of course I will,” she exclaimed before kissing him again.
