Padfoot, Prongs and Moony
Arryha and myself wrote this fic a while ago but never finished it. It got deleted, so I'm bringing it back. The first few chapters Arryha and I both worked on it, but I took over writing the later chapters. I hope you like it!

Disclaimer: I, sadly, did not make up, nor do I own any of the characters in the Harry Potter universe. I also do not own any of the settings. I am not getting paid for the story.

Chapter 1

In his dark room, a boy at the age of 13, reflects on his dark week behind him. He had green eyes with messy, jet black hair and his name was Harry James Potter. Harry is no ordinary boy either, he was a wizard, but even in the wizardry world he wasn't. The thing that marked him different was a lightning scar on top of his head. That scar is the sign that Harry's parents are dead and he survived, but that's another story. The story starts when his aunt came to stay for a week. He was miserable because he knew his aunt was going to treat him like dirt. Still, that wasn't the problem, the problem was much, much worse. Harry decided that it was probably time to get some sleep, just sitting here wasn't going to make his aunt come any slower. He got in bed and feel asleep only to be reawaken a few hours later by the aunt that he lives with.

"Harry. Harry!" Aunt Petunia screamed. Harry groaned and got out of bed, he put on some clothes and headed down the stairs. When he got to the bottom he meet a sight he did not want to see. His Aunt Marge was there. He hastily turned his groan into a cough as she looked over at him.

"Oh, your still here?" Aunt Marge barked.

"Yes." Harry answered a little unsure of what to say.

"Don't say 'yes' in that ungrateful way. Damn good of my brother to keep you." she said then turned to Uncle Vernon and continued. "Would have been straight to an orphanage if he'd been dropped on my doorstep."

Harry was mentally thinking of a way best to excuse himself from her presents at once. He knew his Aunt Marge, who wasn't really his Aunt he just called her that, just kept him around so she could throw insults at him. Dudley was nowhere no be seen, but Harry didn't give that a second thought.

"You, carry my suitcase up stairs for me." Aunt Marge suddenly yelled at Harry. Harry picked up the suitcase and headed up the staircase as slow as it was physically possible.

He took a wrong turn and ended up in Dudley's room. So, there's Dudley, Harry thought. He was just about to leave when Dudley turned around and saw him.

"YOU!! What are YOU doing in here?!?" Dudley yelled.

"Nothing, I was just leaving." Harry retorted leaving the room again, but something held him back. He turned around again and saw that Dudley hadn't moved from where he was five feet away from Harry, yet Harry couldn't move. Harry could tell from Dudley's face that he was angry with the fact that Harry was in his room. All Dudley could think of was to tear Harry's face away from the rest of his body. All of a sudden, Harry was lifted off the floor and his body hurt like fifty needles where stuck in his face. Then, all of a sudden, Harry dropped to the ground and Dudley and Harry passed out.

The next thing he knew, Dumbledore was there, trying to wake him and Dudley up. It was eight at night and his aunt Marge went to bed from drinking too much wine. Both his aunt and uncle where there and they were beyond angry. If it wasn't the fear of a wizard with them they would have blown up towards Harry.

“Sir, what is going on?” asked Harry.

“Well, do you remember anything before you two passed out this morning?” asked Dumbledore.

“Yes sir, everything. What happened was that I took the wrong turn and...” started Harry.

“No need to say anything, we all know what happened, lets say I have a vague idea what happened.” interrupted Dumbledore with a twinkle in his eye. “Besides, I think it would be better if Dudley says what happened first.” So, with some help from Dumbledore, he told how angry he was when Harry came into his room and all of a sudden Harry couldn't move and he was hanging up in the air. While he was in the air, he heard him scream of pain and rubbed his face, trying to get the pain away, then he dropped, and nothing.

“The only reason I was in your room,” Harry’s voice faded as a thought occurred to him. “Wait, can he do magic?”

"Yes, he can." Dumbledore started. "It is very rare to see signs of magic in a person after eleven, but it is not uncommon."

"So, he would be going to Hogwarts, with me?" Harry asked, already dreading the answer.

"Yes, he would, only if he wants to." answered Dumbledore.

"He won't be going." Uncle Vernon suddenly stated from the door.

"That is not entirely your decision, Mr. Dursley." Dumbledore said calmly.

"I want to go." Dudley said, which took Harry completely by surprise.

"W - what? Dudley, darling, you aren't serious, are you?" Aunt Petunia stuttered from the door.

"Yes I am serious." Dudley replied firmly.

"Okay then, here's your letter, I will see you and Harry on September 1st." Dumbledore said as he walked out of the room. Harry was dumbstruck, Dudley, going to school with me?! Things could not be worst. But then again, it could.

"Vernon, when's breakfast?" Aunt Marge yelled from down the hall.

“In a minute Marge, we just have to take care of some family business.” Uncle Vernon yelled back.

Harry sighed and groaned at the same time. Just knowing that Aunt Marge was still there was enough for him to wish he were invisible.

“Diddykins, are you sure you want to learn m... you-know-what?” Aunt Petunia asked again in an almost pleading voice.

“Yes, I’m sure I want to go. Harry, you take me to buy my books.” Dudley ordered suddenly talking to Harry.

“What?” Harry asked rudely.

“You heard me, take me to buy my books ” Dudley snapped.

“Fine ” Harry retorted and turned around and left the room. When he reached the door to his bedroom, the door flew into the room, blasted off the hinges. Harry was pacing around his room.

Dudley can not go to school with me, he’ll make my life hell. The only time I can get away from him is at school!! Harry thought fiercely. What will my friends think? What if I have to share a dorm with him? Harry stopped dead in his tracks, no way was Dudley and him staying in the same dorm, he’d go mental!

Harry eventually had to leave his room since Aunt Marge wanted Harry in the room all the time. Harry was still thinking so he didn’t react to anything that Aunt Marge was criticizing about him. Finally, after the longest week in Harry’s life, Aunt Marge was leaving. Harry was so happy none of Marge’s comments even effected him. Aunt Marge was out of the house that night. Harry was beyond happy. He went to bed and woke up the next morning, his happiness didn’t last long when he remembered that he had to take Dudley to Diagon Alley today.

Harry walked down to breakfast and saw the Dursley’s all sitting there.

“Boy, sit down.” Uncle Vernon barked. Harry sat down and Uncle Vernon continued. “Where is this... this... Dragon lane.”

“Diagon Alley.” Harry corrected irritably.

“Right, where is it?” Uncle Vernon snarled.

“You go through the Leaky Cauldron.” answered Harry taking a bite of toast.

“What? I’ve never heard of no place ” Uncle Vernon said.“Just drive us.” said Harry, he knew he could get away with talking to Uncle Vernon that way since Dudley was now a wizard.

After breakfast was done Harry went back up to his room to see two owls waiting for him. He hurriedly opened the window and the owls dropped off their letters and flew out again. Harry tore open the first one from Hermione Granger, one of Harry’s best friends.

Dear Harry,

I hope you’re okay? I’m great My parents and I went to France this summer. It was really cool and I got to learn so much! Well, now that I’m back I just wanted to check up on you. I am going to Diagon Alley today with Ron and the rest of the Weasley’s, do you want to come? I’m looking forward to seeing you again!

Love,
Hermione

Harry, smiling, opened up the second one from Ron Weasley, his other best friend.

Hi Harry,

I’m sure that you already read Hermione’s letter about us all meeting in Diagon Alley, but I just want to write to you to! You’ll never guess what happened! Dad won the draw at the Ministry, where my dad works We won a hundred thousand galleons! So we decided to take a trip to Egypt. It was really cool, we saw stuff like mummies and tombs. Since Bill is a curse breaker and works around stuff like that all the time, he got to tell us about some magic they had back then. We even got our picture in the Daily Prophet! Well, we would really like to meet up in Diagon Alley, see you then!

Your best mate,
Ron

Harry looked in the envelope one more time and pulled out a newspaper clipping. All the Weasley’s were there. Even though the picture was in black and white the Weasley’s all have shockingly red hair. Harry didn’t think any other family deserved this money more than them. They are the nicest family Harry has ever meet, but they were poor. So this money really helped them.

“Harry! Get down here now!” Uncle Vernon yelled.

Harry ran out of his room and down the stairs to see Uncle Vernon standing there with the car keys in hand.

“Get in the car.” Uncle Vernon ordered. Harry got in the backseat next to Dudley. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia followed closely behind and soon they were stopping in front of the Leaky Cauldron when Dudley yelled “There it is!”

Harry lead the way into the pub and immediately spotted the Weasley’s and Hermione standing there.

“Harry!” Hermione yelled and gave him a big hug which he returned. Once she let go Ron came forward and whispered in his ear.

“Why are the muggles here?”

“Because my cousin isn’t a muggle.” Harry answered glumly. Ron stepped back and looked at him with a shocked face on.

“Are you serious?” asked Ron. Harry just nodded his head.

“Harry, your cousin has magical powers?” Hermione asked with wide eyes.

“Yeah, can we just go before my uncle bursts a blood vessel?” asked Harry as he looked at his uncle, where the famous vein was throbbing. His uncle was looking around at all the witches and wizards, some of them were making their cups of tea stir themselves or having tables clean themselves. They all headed out to the back of the pub and Mrs. Weasley tapped the appropriate bricks which moved aside to let them into the magical shops.

Aunt Petunia almost fainted and Uncle Vernon looked shocked. There were magical shops lining the street, but the oddest of them all was Gringotts, the wizard bank. Gringotts towered over the rest of the shops, it was a crooked building and looked like it was held up by magic, which it probably was. The Weasley’s, Hermione and Harry were already heading into the street and the flood of people as if this was and everyday thing, which it was. The first stop they made for was Gringotts. The Dursley’s exchanged their muggle money for wizard’s and then set out to the appropriate shops to buy books. Dudley had to buy his first and second year books along with his third year ones.

Finally they were entering Ollivanders to buy Dudley’s wand. Dudley had been about to throw a tantrum because he wanted to get his wand. Harry was a little nervous about this because Dudley with a wand could not be good, even if he didn’t know how to use it. Dudley went threw about ten wands before finally finding one that suited him. 11 inches, Holly, Hippogriff feather core. They were heading into the Leaky Cauldron to go back to the Dursley’s.

“Can I stay with the Weasley’s for the rest of the summer?” Harry asked. Ron had asked him to come over and he had said he really wanted to.

“Yes.” said Uncle Vernon unconcerned. Harry watched the Dursley’s leave and felt truly happy.

“Okay, let’s go then, shall we?” asked Mrs. Weasley, coming us behind them.

They went back to the Weasley’s by floo powder. Once they got back, Hermione, Ron and Harry ran up the stairs to Ron’s room, at the top of the house.

“Harry, I can’t believe your cousin is now a wizard and is going to school with us?” stated Hermione as soon as the door shut. “When did this happen?”

Harry began when his Aunt came and told him to take her bags to her room, when he accidentally walked into Dudley’s room, how Dudley got mad and prevented him from moving and also hanging him in the air, to when him and Dudley both passed out and what Dumbledore had said to them.

“...he actually wanted to go.” Harry finished some time later. Ron’s mouth was hanging open and Hermione had shock written all over her face.

“So,” Ron started off slowly, comprehending all that he had been told. “Dudley is going to school with us. He is going to make your life horrible.” he finished simply.

“I know, but there is nothing I can do. If his parents don’t have much say in this, then there is no way I do.” Harry said glumly.

“Harry, I know now might now be the best time, but look at this.” Hermione held up the front page of the Daily Prophet for him to read. He took it from her and read the article.

Sirius Black escaped Azkaban prison
Mass murder at large

Sirius Black was convicted for the murder of James and Lily Potter
twelve years ago, and the death of twelve muggles and one wizard.
He also killed the Potters’ best friend, Peter Petegrew. He broke out
of Azkaban prison yesterday at six o’clock. Black could be anywhere so
we strongly advise that if anyone sees him, to report him immediately
to Aurors’. Don’t try to confront Black yourself! We don’t know how Black
managed to escape Azkaban, and we assure you, that Black will be captured and returned to Azkaban. We want everyone to remain calm. Dementors will be set around the grounds of Hogwarts and Hogsmead.

Harry couldn’t believe it. Sirius Black killed his parents. No, Voldemort kill my parents, Black sold them out! I will make him pay, make him suffer what he put me threw. Harry thought furiously. His face must have shown what he was feeling because Hermione spoke up.
“Harry, you can’t go looking for Black.”

“Hermione, what do you expect me to do? He killed my parents. He’s the reason their dead!” he exclaimed.

“Harry, they say people go mad in Azkaban. With the dementors around. No one knows how he managed to escape. But Harry, Black never went mad. That’s what makes him dangerous.” Hermione said almost pleading with him.

“Well, it’s not like I was planning on going after him now.” Harry said with a bemused look. Hermione smiled warmly and Ron laughed.

“Ron! Harry! Hermione! Lunch!” Mrs. Weasley called up the stairs.

They hurried down and sat at the big table. Once everyone was done eating and Harry, Ron and Hermione were planning to go back upstairs, Mr. Weasley came up to them.

“Harry, mind if I have a word for a moment?”

“Not at all. See you guys later.” he said after Ron and Hermione. They nodded and headed up the stairs.

“Harry, I don’t know how to tell you this.” Mr. Weasley started. “The Ministry doesn’t want you to know, but I think you must.” he took a deep breath and continued. “Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban prison-“

“Mr. Weasley, I know that Black escaped, it was in the paper.”

“Yes, but what you don’t know is why. Black escaped Azkaban to come after you. He sold your parents out to You-Know-Who. He is believed to be a big supporter of him. He broke out of Azkaban to find you...” Mr. Weasley faltered but Harry understood what was unspoken. “Harry you must be scared, but you can’t go looking for him, do you understand me?”

“Okay Mr. Weasley, can I go?” he answered after a while. Mr. Weasley looked relieved and nodded. Harry ran up the stairs and found Hermione and Ron conversing in low voices but stopped as soon as he appeared. He shook it off and told them what Mr. Weasley had just told him.

“Oh Harry!” Hermione wailed when he was done, she threw herself into his arms and gave him a big hug, Harry was surprised but hugged her back. Hermione let go and sat back down on Ron’s bed. “Harry, you really shouldn’t go looking for him, he is very dangerous.”

“Hermione, why would I go looking for someone who wants to kill me?”

They all went to bed early that night and was called down early the next morning for breakfast. Mrs. Weasley had made them eggs and toast and bacon. When they were done they all headed back upstairs but Hermione left early when Ginny walked in and walked around with her outside. Harry and Ron just played chess and Exploding Snap all day.

The next few weeks passed the same way until the morning of September 1st. It was a rush as usual. Everyone was looking everywhere for their belongings. Harry and Ron in particular were looking for their school books that had somehow gotten away from them. Hermione was calm as she had packed the night before. Ginny was going around looking for her clothes. Fred and George were looking for something, they didn’t ask anyone for help, so no one knew what they were looking for. Mrs. Weasley was frantic.

Finally everyone had everything that they need and they were all outside. A ministry car pulled up and everyone put their trunks in the back and got in. Harry was in between Fred and George and Ron and Hermione were on either side of them, and Ginny was next to Hermione. Everyone fit in comfortably. They arrived at King’s Cross Station with ten minutes to go.

They grabbed trolleys and ran through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Harry just thought of something that made him incredibly happy. Dudley doesn’t know how to get onto the platform! But that happy thought was vanished as he appeared out of the wall. He saw Dudley talking to the worst person ever. Draco Malfoy.

Chapter 2

Harry stopped. Ginny was coming through the barrier after Harry and almost ran into him. Harry finally started moving again, keeping his distance from Dudley and Malfoy. The trio looked everywhere to find a compartment, they found one at the end of the train but it had one person in it.

“Who is that? That’s not a student.” Ron asked.

“His name is ‘Professor R.J. Lupin’.” Hermione said simply as she took a seat. Ron was looking at her.
“How do you know that?”

“It’s on his suitcase, now sit down.” said Hermione pointing to the luggage rack. Ron and Harry both took seats and they started talking about Sirius Black. Just after noon the train suddenly stopped.

“What’s going on?” Ron asked.

“Hold on.” replied Harry as he stood up and poked his head out of the compartment, so was everyone else, as far as he could see. Harry put his head bak in and sat back down shrugging his shoulders. Suddenly it got icy cold. Harry could feel is breath catch in his lungs. He felt horrible, like he would never see the sun again, or ever have another happy moment. The compartment door opened slowly and eerily. What came inside was horrible. Rotting hands appeared out from underneath a torn and tattered cloak, the thing had a hood over it’s face, and it looked like it was trying to suck the air out of the compartment. The man in the corner, Professor Lupin, suddenly jumped up and something white came out of his wand. The thing fell back and left the compartment, but not before Harry heard a terrible scream and passed out.

He woke again to find Hermione, Ron and Professor Lupin all looking at him.

“Here you go.” said Professor Lupin when Harry sat up, he handed him a big chunk of chocolate. Harry took it.

“What happened?” asked Harry as he got up off the floor.

“You passed out.” Ron answered uncertainly.

“What was that... thing?” Harry continued.

“A dementor, one of the guards at Azkaban, it was searching the train for Sirius Black.” He looked at Harry and when he saw that Harry didn’t have any chocolate said “Eat, I didn’t poison it.” Harry took a big bite and felt warm again.

“Harry.” Lupin said after a while. Harry looked up surprised.

“Yes Professor?” asked Harry.

“Has anyone ever told you, you look a lot like James. Except for your eyes” Lupin went on. Harry nodded, many people have said that before. “Did anyone ever tell you that your father and I were friends?”

“No, you were? Really?” Harry asked suddenly excited.

“Yes,” he looked dreamily into space. “Yes I knew your father quiet well, and your mother.” he went on. “Lily was an unusually kind person. She could see the good in everyone she met.” he went on with a look of sadness. “It’s a terrible thing what Sirius did to you Harry, I never would have thought he’d do that.”

“You knew Sirius Black?” asked Harry fully paying attention now.

“Yes, him, James, myself and Peter. We were all best friends. James made Sirius your godfather Harry. But then Sirius killed James and Peter.” Lupin had a look of great sadness as he was saying this.

“Oh, you mean Peter Petegrew?” Hermione asked suddenly.

“Yeah, Sirius cornered him and blasted him, all that was left was his finger.” Lupin went on.

They sat in silence for a while until Hermione spoke up. “Ron, Harry, did you guys get your permission slip signed to go to Hogsmead?” asked Hermione as she pulled hers out from her trunk.

“Yeah I did.” Ron said pulling his out of his pocket.

“I didn’t.” Harry said glumly. He pulled his out of his pocket too then was suddenly struck by an idea. “Professor? I was wondering if maybe, since you knew my dad and mum and all, if maybe you could sign my permission form?” Harry asked hopefully. Lupin smiled and took the paper from Harry and took a quill out of his pocket and signed his name at the bottom.

“There you go.” Lupin said as he handed it back to Harry.

“Thanks, Professor.” replied Harry smiling and putting the paper back in his pocket. They spent the rest of the train ride in relative silence, once or twice breaking it to talk about something that happened in the news. The train finally stopped in Hogsmead village. Professor Lupin got lost in the crowd as they stepped off the train and made there way over to the carriages that would take them up to Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville got a carriage to themselves. They walked up the stone steps into the Great Hall and sat down to watch the sorting ceremony. The door opened and Professor McGonagall was leading a bunch of frighted first years.

“They get smaller every year, I swear.” Ron murmured as McGonagall put the stool and the sorting hat down. McGonagall started calling out names. Harry looked at them and noticed that one person was a little taller than the rest of the first years. A closer look told Harry that it was his cousin. He was the only first year third year and stood out from the rest of the first years. Dudley was called up and he sat down on the stool that was almost too small for him and put the hat on. Dumbledore leaned forward slightly in his chair, the hat sat there on Dudley’s head for almost a minute before it called out:

“SLYTHERIN!” the table at the far side of the hall erupted into cheering. Dudley stood up and walked over and sat across from Malfoy. Harry shook his head, soon the tables were filled with food. Ron and Harry dug into everything with Hermione looking at them with disgust. Soon after, the dinner turned into dessert that disappeared to leave the plates spotless.

“As many of you are well aware of, Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban prison. I just want you all to know that the castle, as of now, will be home to the dementors of Azkaban. On a happier note we have two new teachers this year.” Harry, Ron and Hermione looked at each other and mouthed the same thing: two? “Professor R.J. Lupin will be your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.” everyone clapped. “And the new teacher who will be filling in the post for Care of Magical Creatures teacher, Professor Hagrid.” Harry, Ron and Hermione clapped the loudest out of everyone. “Well now I think it’s off to bed, good night.” The trio got up and went to the painting of the Fat Lady, once they were there they realized they didn’t know the password.

“Great.” Harry said.

“Ah, need the password?” Fred Weasley asked as him and his twin brother George came up behind them.

“Yeah.” Ron said.

“Mimbulus Mimtonia.” George said to the Fat Lady, she nodded her head and the painting swung forward. Harry and Ron bide Hermione good night and went up to their own dormitory.

Harry couldn't sleep that night, thinking of Sirius Black after him and Dudley making his life hell. Well, thought Harry, this will be a horrible year, at least I can go to Hogsmead. How did Dudley get into Slytherin? I mean, he is mud blood, right? Oh well, I will ask Dumbledore tomorrow. And with that he went to an uncomfortable sleep.

So, tell me your opinion right here. Thanks for reading!

Chapter 3

The next morning, Harry woke up early, knowing he will find out the truth behind how Dudley got into Slytherin. He got up, and dressed very quickly. He was hoping to get some breakfast before he talked to Dumbledore. So he went to the great hall, got some toast, and went to the entry way of Dumbledore's office. He realized once he got there that he didn’t know the password, and started to guess what it might be.

“Ok, marmalade, no, it has to be candy, hmm. How about chocolate frogs, no sugar wands? No, what is it, gummy worms?” The passageway opened up and the stairs lead up to his office. “Gummy worms? That’s not even a wizard’s candy.” Harry shrugged and walked up to Dumbledore’s office. At the door, Harry knocked.

“Come in.” replied Dumbledore.

"Sir," Harry started.

"Yes, Harry?" Dumbledore asked looking at Harry intently.

"I... I was just wondering..." Harry hesitated. "I was wondering why Dudley was put in Slytherin?"

"Ah, I had a feeling you would want to know about that." Dumbledore started. "You see, he was adopted. His parents didn't want him because they had another son. And in their family, there is only one son allowed. His mum gave it to her friend's friend, your Aunt Marge's husband. The thing is, when he died, she couldn't take care of him and her dogs, so she gave it to her brother, Vernon."

“But who was his parents?" asked Harry.

"Well, Harry, swear to me you will not tell anyone but your friends, Ms. Granger and Mr. Weasley about any of this." started Dumbledore.

"I swear." continued Harry.

"Conneyrum." A weird feeling came over Harry "That will stop you or your friends from telling anyone, you know, in case it slips.” Dumbledore said. “Dudley’s real parents are, well, the Malfoys."

"You’re not serious?" yelled Harry. Harry knew it was true but was completely under shock. Just to get his mind off the subject, Harry asked the simplest question he could think of.

"I was wondering, as well, who do I send this slip to Hogsmead to?”

"Your head of house. See you tomorrow." Dumbledore replied and sent Harry out of the room.

Harry went to the Great Hall and told Hermione and Ron to come with him. They went into an empty classroom and Harry told them about Dudley and that they couldn't tell anyone. Not that they would be able to because of the spell.

"Wow!" was the only thing they could manage to say.

“But,” began Hermione after she found her voice, “how is that possible? I mean, they look nothing alike, and do you think Malfoy knows?”

“I don't know, he probably doesn't. Wait, how could they be related, I mean, that is impossible. He looks so much like Uncle Vernon. Well anyway, we will ask him after we turn in our slips to Professor McGonagall.” So they headed to her office and knocked at her door.

“Come in.” replied McGonagall to their knock. “What do I owe this surprise?”

“Well, professor, we wanted to turn our slips in now. Is that ok?” asked Hermione.

“Well yes, of course.” replied McGonagall and they handed it to her. “Wait Potter, this isn't a parent or a guardian who signed it, it is Professor Lupin. I am sorry, but you can not go.”

“What? Why not? Come on professor, it is a teacher and a family friend.” said Harry in an almost shouting voice.

“Well rules are rules, sorry, but you just can't. Especially with Sirius Black out, rules are tight for your safety.” replied McGonagall in a very stern voice.

“I know everything about Black and I really don't care if he is after me, I want to go.” Harry said, but he had to add on with the questioning look on her face. “Someone told me about it.”

“Well then, you know why you can't go and you just added another reason why you shouldn’t. If you have a problem with it, go talk to the Headmaster.” With that she shook her hand telling them it was time to go.

“Come in.” said Dumbledore. "Oh, hello. Nice seeing you again."

"Hello professor, how is it that if Professor Lupin signed this permission slip, I can't go?" asked Harry.

"Well, lets go back to that question, I know you guys didn't come here for only that." said Dumbledore.

"Well, sir, how can Dudley be Malfoy's brother? They look nothing alike and he doesn't know." asked Hermione in a matter-of-fact voice.

"That is an excellent point, Ms. Granger. You see, they were twins and when they were born, the youngest had to take a potion, made by me. That is how he looks so much like the Dursley’s and the only way to look like Malfoy is when he is ready for the truth. When that happens, he will be Draco's twin." replied Dumbledore. “Does that answer your question?" The gang nodded their head, unable to speak.

“Okay, well now that the question is answered, you wanted to know how come you can’t go to Hogsmead village when Professor Lupin signed your permission slip?” continued Dumbledore. Harry just nodded, still in shook. “That is because Professor Lupin is a teacher and has not looked after you. So therefore, he is not your legal guardian.” Dumbledore finished.

“But Professor-” Harry started, but Dumbledore held up a hand to silence him.

“Harry, this is for your protection.” Dumbledore finished and nodded to them to let them know that it was time to leave. They walked out of the office and down the stairs where they met Dudley and Draco.

Perfect, a way to get my madness out. thought Harry.

"Hi, Potter." said Malfoy.

Lanklock." Malfoy couldn't speak for the fact that his tongue with glued to the roof of his mouth. They went off, laughing at the look on Malfoy's face.

The only problem was that Draco Malfoy learned a very dark magic spell from his father, that Harry knew nothing of.

"Copra." said Malfoy. Harry felt suddenly lopsided. He looked down to see that his arm had fallen off! Harry was in pain, too much to comprehend. He fell onto the floor and passed out. The next thing he knew, he was in the St. Mungo's. He found his glasses and saw Mrs. Weasley next to him, sleeping.

I hope you liked it! I do know that Harry didn't learn Langlock until sixth year, but it was perfect here. Please leave feedback here! Thanks!

Chapter 4

“Oh, your up.” said the Healer. Harry nodded glumly and looked at his arm. He almost passed out again at the site. His arm was laying on the bed, but it wasn’t attached to his shoulder. “Oh yes. You see we wanted you to be awake when we put your arm back on.” the healer continued.

“Harry! Oh Harry dear, are you alright?” Mrs. Weasley asked, getting up from the bed and coming over to Harry.

“I’m fine Mrs. Weasley.” Harry said, a little pained.

“No your not, but your in good care. Ron and Hermione are outside dear.” added Mrs. Weasley before Harry could ask.

“Can I see them?” Harry begged.

“Not right now dear, they need to put your arm back on.” Mrs. Weasley said, and came over and hugged him tightly.

“Alright, this might hurt a little.” said the Healer, once Mrs. Weasley backed off of Harry. She pointed her wand at his shoulder and did a lot of complex wand movements. Harry shut his eyes and gritted his teeth. When the Healer said a little pain she meant more than she let on. It which was excruciating. Harry yelled out in pain as his arm flew back to his shoulder, and he knew no more.

“You guys, be quiet! You’ll wake him.” hissed a female voice.

“Too late, I’m up.” Harry replied, opening his eyes and looking at Hermione, Ron, Mr. And Mrs. Weasley and Dumbledore.

“Harry.” Hermione said and gave him a hug.

“Are you alright?” asked Ron.

“Been better.” replied Harry with a smile. He looked down at his arm and couldn’t feel any pain. He flexed his fingers to make sure they still worked, they did.

“Harry, do you know who did this to you?” Mr. Weasley asked. Harry glanced at Ron and Hermione, who nodded.

“Yes I do.” he replied.

“Who is it dear?” asked Mrs. Weasley kindly.

“It was Malfoy.” Harry answered quietly. Mrs. Weasley gasped in shock, and Dumbledore and Mr. Weasley paled a little.

“Draco, or Lucius Malfoy?” asked Dumbledore. Harry realized why they were so scared now.

“It was Draco Malfoy, sir.” said Ron. “He cursed Harry as we were walking out of your office.” he continued.

“Can I go now?” asked Harry before anyone else could speak.

“I’ll get the healer.” replied Mrs. Weasley. She went outside of the ward that Harry noticed had almost no beds in it, and the ones it did have were occupied, people with far worst injuries then the one that Harry had. Mrs. Weasley came back in, shortly followed by the healer.

“Well Mr. Potter, it looks like your fine, you may go.” she said, once she was finished running Harry through some test involving movement of his arm. Harry leaped off the bed and followed everyone else out of the ward. Dumbledore took off his hat and turned it into a portkey. They all touched a part of it and felt the pull around their navel, then they crashed to the floor of Dumbledore’s office.

“Well, we will see you later.” Harry said, and got up with Ron and Hermione, and walked out of the office. The three of them walked back up to Gryffindor tower, it was dark outside, and their curfew would be up in a few minutes. They walked into the common room and sat down, and started to talk about the Malfoy twins.

It was about twelve o’clock when Hermione decided they should all go to bed since they had classes tomorrow.

Ron and Harry woke up the next morning, got dressed, and went to the common room where they found Hermione doing, of all things, reading.

“Hey guys.” Hermione said brightly, putting down her book. They headed down to breakfast and the start of a long day of studding. Once the day was over, Harry had quidditch practice. He was looking for the snitch when he heard someone yelling out his name.

“Potter!” The voice shouted from the stands. Harry turned around and looked at Malfoy and Dudley. Harry ignored them and went back to looking for the snitch. Suddenly, it got icy cold. Harry couldn’t feel any warmth at all.

Harry!!” a female voice screamed. He vaguely felt himself slip off his broom as he fell into darkness.

Chapter 5

Harry woke up in the hospital wing and looked around. He remembered a dementor coming after him, then falling. It was dark out and two people were sleeping in chairs by his bed. He podded one of them, who woke with a start, and woke the other one.

"Ron, Hermione, what are you doing here?" Harry asked.

"To see if your alright." said Hermione, as if that was obvious. Madam Pomfrey, who can second guess when her patients wake up, came up to him now.

"Well Potter, you had a run in with a dementor, if your team mates hadn't caught you..." she said, pulling out a large bit of chocolate. "Here, eat this." she continued, handing him the chocolate. He took a bite and felt immediate warmth. Being in two hospitals within days of each other was driving him crazy.

"Can I go?" he asked once he had finished all the chocolate. Madam Pomfrey sighed but nodded her approval all the same. Harry got off the bed and followed Ron and Hermione back up to their common room, where Harry walked up the stairs to their dorm, and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

"Harry, wake up!" said Ron, throwing his pillow at him. Harry grabbed the pillow and threw it back at the source with his eyes closed, wanting to go back to sleep. He heard a dull thump of the pillow hitting it's target. He got up and reluctantly got dressed and went down for breakfast.

The bell rang to signal the end of classes that day. Finally it was Friday, which meant no more classes with the Malfoys', and no more being teased. He ran up to Gryffindor tower and started on his homework. He was half way through his potion essay when the portrait hole opened and Ron and Hermione walked in. Ron was holding the Daily Prophet as if his life depended on it. He silently handed it over to Harry who read the title of the article on the front page.

Sirius Black has been sighted
One wizard has seen the mass murderer,
Sirius Black, near Duftown, which is near
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, has stepped up security around the castle in light of recent events. Dementors have been
taken off duty from Azkaban Fortress, and
placed around the school so that Sirius Black
has no chance of getting into the castle.

Like I don't have problems enough without Sirius Black trying to kill me, thought Harry bitterly as he threw down the newspaper and stared into the dying depths of the hot embers. Hermione came around and sat down beside him on the couch. Ron followed. They sat there like that until Harry's watch beeped out that it was one o'clock in the morning.

Chapter 6

Harry woke up early the next morning, got dressed, and went down to have breakfast. Since it was Saturday morning, and six o’clock, no one was there. Harry just sat at the Gryffindor table, playing with the utensils and thinking hard about Sirius Black and what he would do to him. At about six thirty, people started to come into the Great Hall. The food appeared about that time, so Harry spent some time just picking at the food on his plate. At around eight o’clock Ron and Hermione came and sat next to him. As soon as Hermione took a bite of eggs, a brown owl came and dropped the Daily Prophet near her plate; she paid the owl for the paper and unfolded it.

“Anything interesting?” asked Harry as he pushed his eggs to the opposite side of his plate for the hundredth time.

“No, not really, the ministry is still trying to find Sirius Black. Some wizards were killed. And oh-” she stopped suddenly and stared at the newspaper. “Listen to this, ‘Recently discovered from the Malfoy family, that they have two sons. The other, a considered muggle, Dudley Malfoy, has been under a potion all of his life, and his parents have been under the impression that it is their son. As to-’”

“Wait, they have that in the paper already? I thought that the Malfoys’ didn’t know!” said Harry.

“Well, obviously someone found out and told the ministry. And apparently, they don’t care.” Hermione said, nodding to Dudley and Draco, who now looked identical since Dudley found out. Harry scrunched up his face in disgust from seeing two of his most hated people looking exactly alike.

“C’mon, we have homework to do.” said Ron, which was a first, as he saw the murderous look on Harry’s face. They walked back up to the common room. Harry was thinking over all that the paper had said. At three o’clock in the afternoon Harry ran up stairs and grabbed his Nimbus 2000 and headed down to the Quidditch pitch. There, he met up with his other teammates and they began practicing for the first Quidditch match of the season that was to take place in a few months. Harry didn’t get back from practice until eight that night. Oliver Wood, the team captain, had them working twice as hard to ensure that their moves were flawless. He went up to his dorm and collapsed on his bed, within minutes, he was asleep.

Harry woke the next morning to Hedwig pecking at his hand. She had a letter from an unknown person. Harry, not think about the consequences, and half asleep, opened the letter.

Harry,
Meet me in my office at noon, we have matters to discuss.

Remus Lupin

Why would Professor Lupin want to meet me? And what matters does he want to discuss? thought Harry as he walked around the dorm, putting on his clothes. He decided he had better go and meet him. Harry walked down the stairs and through the portrait hole to the Great Hall, where he saw Ron and Hermione, deep in discussion.

“Hey guys.” Harry said as he sat down across from them. They both looked up at him and smiled weakly.

“Hey, Harry, want to see Hagrid after breakfast?” asked Ron as he took a bite of toast.

“Sure, but Professor Lupin wants to see me at noon, so we can’t stay too long.” answered Harry, looking at his watch, which read 9:23 am. As soon as Harry had bolted down his breakfast, they headed across the grounds to Hagrid’s hut, which had smoke pouring out of the chimney. They stepped up to the door and knocked loudly, Hagrid’s bushy head appeared in the gap and the door was thrown wide open.

“Hey you three.” said Hagrid. He invited them in and the three took a seat around his large coffee table. He bustled around making tea for them.

“How are you Hagrid?” asked Hermione when Hagrid sat down to join them.

“’O I’m fine. ‘Ow ‘ave you been?” returned Hagrid.

“We’ve been fine. Say Hagrid,” started Harry, wondering if it was the right thing to do. “What do you know about Sirius Black?” Hagrid looked dumbfounded for a second before he regained his posture.

“All I know is that he escaped Azkaban, and the first one that done it.” said Hagrid, not meeting their eyes. Harry had a feeling that Hagrid wasn’t telling them all that he knew, but didn’t press the fact.

“Hagrid, how are your classes going?” Hermione asked kindly after a few minutes in silence.

“They’ve been going good. Got a real treat for ‘ya next lesson.” said Hagrid mysteriously.

“What are you planning Hagrid?” asked Ron.

“Can’t tell ‘ya that, Ron. You’ll ‘ave to wait ‘an see.” he answered. The three of them tried to get Hagrid to tell them what he was planning, but he would give any information. Soon Harry looked at his watch, which told him that it was 11:57 am, and decided it was time to go. They all said they would see Hagrid soon and ran back to the castle. Harry just managed to slip into Professor Lupin’s office when his watch beeped it was 12.

“Ah Harry, I’m glad you came.” said Professor Lupin. “Please, sit down.” He continued, gesturing at the chair he wished for Harry to sit at. Harry sat down and looked at Professor Lupin.

“Why did you want to see me Professor?” he asked as Lupin began to pace.

“Harry, there’s something you have to know.” Lupin said, not meeting Harry’s eye. “I shouldn’t have signed your permission form for you to go to Hogsmead, it was foolish of me. James told me that if anything happened to him or Sirius that I was to take over being your godfather. Since Sirius isn’t dead, but is trying to kill you, I think I should protect you to the best of my abilities.” he said quickly, hoping that if Harry knew this all at once, it would be easier to understand. Harry stared at Professor Lupin for the longest time.

“Professor, Professor McGonagall already told me I couldn’t go to Hogsmead because Sirius Black was after me.” Harry answered the first part, not sure what to say for the rest of it. Lupin looked relieved that Harry couldn’t go to Hogsmead, but quickly changed his expression when he saw Harry’s.

“Harry you have to think of me as your teacher, you can talk to me, but if Black knew what I told you, then you would be in more danger.” Lupin said, his voice low, as if Sirius Black was eavesdropping on their conversation. “You must promise me to stay out of trouble. You have to follow all the rules. Especially do not stay out after hours. Black could be anywhere, I trust you read the paper, he was sited not to far from here, you have to be kept safe.” said Lupin, concern for Harry’s well being clear in his voice. Harry looked at his professor, and the last person who knew his dad that wasn’t trying to kill him, and nodded his agreement.

Chapter 7

Finding out that Professor Lupin would be there to protect Harry was one of the best feelings Harry had since Dudley and Draco became twins. It had been a few weeks since Harry and Professor Lupin had talked, and Harry was watching his back for the Malfoy twins. The weather was definitely getting colder, and along with the cold was bringing around the first quidditch match of the season. Oliver Wood had the Gryffindor team out every evening to practice.

“I really can’t take it.” Harry said as Hermione was producing steam from her wand to dry his clothes. They had another practice and it was pouring rain. “How can I possibly keep up with quidditch, the Malfoys’, and homework?”

“I don’t know Harry, but you are going to have to try.” Hermione said bracingly. She stood up after a while and sat down next to Harry, Ron was doing detention with Flitwick. “Harry,” Hermione whispered. “listen, I know that Black is still after you, you really do have to be careful.” Hermione had been saying this for a while, almost every chance she could.

“Hermione, I know, I’ll be careful, I promise.” Harry said as he brought out his homework and started to work. Hermione hadn’t moved.

“I promise!” Harry said as she just continued to stare at him. “Er, Hermione?” he asked. Slowly her hand traveled to her mouth as she pointed out the window behind Harry. Harry turned around quickly and almost fell off the couch as he saw the Malfoy twins, both on a broomstick, holding Ron, unconscious, between them, upside down by his ankles. Harry pulled out his wand, but as he did, they zoomed off into the night, with Ron between them.

Harry climbed the staircase to the boys dormitory and got out his broom. He raced out of the portrait hole with Hermione right behind him.

“Hermione, go back!” Harry hissed at her.

“No. I’m making sure that you will be alright.” Hermione whispered back as they sped along another corridor, turning sharply to the marble staircase, out the front door, and into the night. Harry swung his leg over his broom as Hermione got in the back of him. As he kicked off from the ground Hermione wrapped her arms around his waist tightly. Harry could just see a black speck on the horizon, just barely illuminated by the moon. Harry sped toward it, not sure if it was an owl or the Malfoys’. But as he got closer he could see clearly that it was the Malfoy twins.

“Well now what?” asked one, who Harry was sure was Draco.

“We could drop him.” suggested Dudley. They were suspended over the Forbidden Forest, which stretched out for miles in every direction. Draco laughed.

“That sounds like a good idea.” Draco said back. “One, two, three.” As soon as Draco said ‘three’ they both dropped Ron from fifty feet above the topmost trees. Hermione gasped behind his as he pointed his broom handle down and raced Ron to the ground. Harry was inches away from Ron as he disappeared amongst the branches. Harry reached out and felt Ron’s wrist. He grabbed tight to his as his other hand tried to level out the broom. Harry slammed into a tree and slid down it. Hermione just caught on that Harry had grabbed Ron and heaved him onto the broom. Harry shook his head a little and regained thought of the situation. They couldn’t reach the bottom, deadly creatures could be there waiting for them.

“Hold on to Ron and me.” instructed Harry and Hermione found the back of his robes again with Ron between them, slumped over the broom. Harry lifted the handle and shot back out of the trees. As soon as Harry leveled out the broom he just hovered there, looking around for the Malfoys’. They were gone. Harry sighed and raced back to the castle before anyone knew they were missing.

They touched down outside the front door and quickly and quietly removed Ron. Hermione levitated Ron while Harry carried his broomstick and looked out for Peeves or any teachers. They made it back to the common room unseen. Harry and Hermione both sighed, relieved.

“What about Ron?” asked Hermione concerned.

“I’m not sure. Is there a spell to reawaken him?” said Harry. Hermione grabbed one of the spell books near her and flipped it open. She had been looking through the index for ten minutes before she found the spell.

“‘Rennervate’.” she read. “Supposed to reawaken anyone who is unconscious.” she said simply.

“But we have never tried this spell before.” Harry said. “What would happen if we get it wrong?” Hermione’s eyebrows furrowed in concentration then pulled out her wand. Harry backed up a little as Hermione touched the tip of her wand to Ron’s chest.

Rennervate,” Hermione whispered. Ron’s eyes fluttered slowly open. “Ron!” Hermione squealed, delighted her spell worked and Ron was now conscious.

“What happened?” asked Harry. Ron looked between them.

“What?” his voice was croaked.

“Ron, I thought that you had detention with Professor Flitwick. That’s what you told me.” Harry reiterated.

“Oh, well I did. I was in Flitwick’s classroom, cleaning out empty ink bottles. Then someone knocked me out, now I’m here.” Ron said. “What did happen?”

“Well, I’m thinking that the Malfoys’ knocked you out and took you out to the grounds. They came by the Gryffindor tower window with you unconscious.” Harry said. “They took you out over the forest and Hermione and I followed them. They dropped you into the heart of the forest and we caught you before you hit the bottom.” Ron’s eyes were alive with fresh fury.

“How could they!” Hermione said suddenly. Harry and Ron looked at her but she didn’t continue. Soon they made their way to bed to contemplate what Dudley and Draco had done.

Harry woke up early the next morning and went to eat breakfast. It wasn’t until he saw the Malfoy twins that he remembered last night. They were heading to the grounds, since it was the weekend. Harry’s hands clenched into fists as he sat down at the end of the Gryffindor table. He had just taken an angry bite of toast when Ron appeared, shortly followed by Hermione. The Daily Prophet came and Hermione took it, disappearing behind it the minute she opened it.

“Anything new?” asked Ron dully, going over last night in his head, trying to get more information out of it.

“No, there isn’t. Just some reports on where Black could be.” Hermione said, folding the paper and taking a bite of egg. “What about the Malfoys’?” she continued.

“What about them?” asked Harry absently.

“Are we going to tell Professor Dumbledore or McGonagall or Lupin about it?” she asked.

“Are you kid-” Harry began but a voice above him interrupted him.

“Tell me what?” asked the kind voice of Professor Lupin. Harry’s eyes widened. Professor Lupin would not be please to know that he had been out after hours when he had promised not to be.

“Just that,” Hermione said, aware of Harry’s concern. “Draco and Dudley came by the Gryffindor window last night as we were doing homework.” she said carefully.

“They were out after hours?” Professor Lupin asked, his eyebrows raised. Harry looked at him and all three of them nodded. “Then I shall have a word with them, thank you for telling me.” he said, smiling, and walked away.

“Professor Lupin can’t know that we were out last night.” Harry whispered. “Not after I promised him I wouldn’t go wondering.”

“You call saving me life breaking your promise?” asked Ron.

“Well, we saved your life, but could have been the end of mine if Sirius Black was in that forest.” said Harry darkly. Neither of them said anything and finished their breakfast. They spent the rest of the day finishing the homework that had somehow gotten the better of Ron and Harry. Hermione had somehow managed to keep up on all her homework, and she was taking more classes than Harry and Ron.

“Harry,” called Oliver Wood across the common room. “come here for a minute.” Harry stood up and walked over to Wood.

“Yeah?”

“We are having practice tonight.”

“Tonight? Wood, we have been practicing every night. I’m sure the rest of the team is behind on their homework as I am.” said Harry. Oliver contemplated Harry for a while then grudgingly agreed as some of the other team members came up to say that they had homework.

“Fine. Next week we will practice though.” Wood said, turning back to his diagram of the quidditch field. Little red and green colored people zoomed around on miniature brooms. Harry walked back to Hermione and Ron. He saw the grounds in the darkening light, a huge black dog was prowling along the edge of the forest. Harry stood frozen, looking at the dog.

“Harry?” asked Ron, coming up behind him. “What are you looking at?”

“Nothing,” said Harry. “It’s nothing.” He walked back to Hermione and his unfinished homework and set back to work.

“Done!” Ron said loudly at almost one in the morning. Harry had just finished five minutes before him. “Finally.”

“Good, now we can all go bed.” said Hermione, standing up and yawning. “Night.” she called over her shoulder as she made her way to the girls staircase.

“Night.” Ron and Harry called after her as they made their own way to their beds.

“How could you?!” Hermione shouted. Harry was tied to a wall in a small chamber in what looked like the dungeons of Hogwarts. Draco was standing over her with his wand raised and an evil glint in his eyes. Hermione looked to be a little older than what she was now. Ron was no where to be seen.

“How could I, you ask?” sneered Draco. “How could I what?”

“How could kill him?” she answered in a soft voice.

“He didn’t kill him,” said Dudley, appearing beside his brother. “I did.”

“Why?” Hermione asked.

“He was in the way.” Dudley answered with a smirk on his face.

“NO!” Harry shouted suddenly. He tried to break free of the wall, the manacles at his wrists and ankles clanking loudly.

“Silence Potter.” Draco said. Harry could gather that him and Hermione were in their sixth year and Ron was murdered by Dudley. Dudley started to approach Harry, suddenly he was right in front of him, filling all of his sight.

“Get away from me!” spat Harry. “This place is filthy enough without you here.”

“You’ll pay Potter! Cru-”

“Harry? Get up.” someone said. Harry groaned and sat up, the sun that poured into the room dazzled him. Once his eyes got used to the light he saw that Hermione and Ron were both there, along with Professors Lupin and Dumbledore.

“What are you all doing here?” he asked groggily.

“Ron here,” started Lupin. “Got worried when you started to yell in your sleep. He called Dumbledore but I happened to be with him and decided to check on you too.”

“What was I saying?” asked Harry slowly.

“‘No’, and ‘why Ron’.” Lupin continued. “What were you dreaming about?” Harry thought for a while but decided on the truth.

“Draco was there. I was tied to the wall and Hermione was on the floor. Draco was standing over her and she was saying why. Dudley came into the room and said that he killed Ron.” Harry said, a shiver going down his spine. Hermione’s and Ron’s eyes were wide. Dumbledore seemed worried, along with Lupin. After a moment Dumbledore spoke.

“At least it was a dream. But have you seen Dudley or Draco around lately, or have they done something to trigger a dream like that?” he asked.

“They flew by the Gryffindor window two nights ago.” answered Hermione. Dumbledore nodded and stood up.

“I shall see you three later.” he said and walked out of the dormitory.

“I feel that you are not telling me the whole truth about what happened when Draco and Dudley flew by the window.” Lupin said. Harry felt a jolt of guilt in the pit of his stomach. He eventually told Lupin everything. He was disappointed that Harry had been out after hours but decided he had a good reason, saving Ron’s life. Lupin left and Harry, Ron and Hermione spent the rest of the day together.

Chapter 8

After all the excitement of the first few months, playing a game of quidditch seemed like a dream. Harry was out all the time with the other members of the quidditich team. The big Slytherin versus Gryffindor match was to be held next week. The whole school participated in coming to the games and cheering their team on.

The week passed with relative slowness. Harry was so anxious to play quidditch against Malfoy that every minute seemed like a life time. It was still raining hard outside every time the Gryffindor team would be outside. Wood said that was a good thing, we could be prepared for any type of weather for the game.

“Wood, come on, this is the seventh practice that we had when it was raining.” complained Fred as the team walked to the front doors that lead out to the grounds and the quidditch stadium.

“We have to be prepared for anything.” Wood answered and opened the doors. Buckets of icy cold water instantly soaked the team before they had even set foot outside.

“I think we have prepared for anything already.” retorted George.

“We are already soaked and we haven’t even got on our brooms yet!” said Alicia Spinet, the Gryffindor chaser.

“Wood, we have been practicing hard, and in every type of weather.” put in Harry.

“A little more practice won’t kill us.” snapped Wood and walked into the torrent of rain. Everyone grudgingly followed him soon after.

The practice itself went well. Everyone got used to the rain after a while. Harry had to continuously wipe off his glasses from rain splatter. After a hard hour of practicing, Wood let them go to the dormitory. Harry landed and quickly ran into the castle with the rest of the team. Alicia had enough sense to use a spell behind them so they didn’t leave any muddy footprints. Mr. Flitch wouldn’t have been happy about that. Fred and George were perfectly fine with leaving behind footprints, just to make trouble.

“Harry, how was practice?” asked Hermione once he was through the portrait hole.

“It was okay, my glasses won’t stay clear though.” Harry answered sitting down.

“There is an easy spell to keep them clear.” answered Hermione. “I’ll teach it to you sometime.”

“Hermione I don’t have sometime to learn it. The match is this weekend.” said Harry. He pulled out his wand started steam drying his clothes.

“Alright, alright, I’ll teach you.” Hermione said. She then went on to teach Harry the movement and words of the spell.

“What exactly does it do?” asked Harry.

“It is an impenetrable charm. Water won’t stick your glasses, just sort of hit it and bounce off.” Hermione explained.

“Thanks Hermione, this should help a lot.” Harry said. “By the way, where’s Ron?”

“Up stairs. He went to bed early.” answered Hermione.

“I should do the same. Good night Hermione.” Harry stood up and walked towards the stairs.

“Night Harry.” called Hermione by the fire.

Harry walked up the stairs slowly. Once he got up there, he changed out of his quidditich robes and into pajamas. He crawled into bed and silently pulled the curtains closed.

The big match of Slytherin versus Gryffindor was suddenly upon everyone. The Gryffindor team stood huddled together toward the end of the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall. Whenever people passed them they wished them good luck. Not one member on the team ate anything, they were all too nervous. When it was almost time for the school to go outside and assemble in the stands, Wood called the team out to the field.

“Alright team, this is it.” Wood started.

“Oliver, please, not a speech, we might fall asleep and miss the game altogether.” said Fred from within the folds of his robes as he struggled to pull them over his head.

“Fine, everyone just get changed.” Wood said.

Once everyone was standing in the room with their red and gold robes in place they walked outside. As they left the room, Harry took off his glasses and put the charm on them. Once they were outside, loud cheers rose to greet them, almost lost amidst the noise of the rain hitting the benches. You couldn’t see anyone’s face for they were hidden beneath huge umbrellas, either red or green. Wood and the Slytherin team captain shook hands. Madam Hooch blew the whistle and everyone rose into the air.

Harry was already soaked through to his bones, but no water was getting on his glasses. Thanks Hermione, thought Harry as he circled high above the game looking for the snitch. He looked behind him and saw Malfoy doing the same, only he was watching Harry for any sudden movements. Harry put his focus back to the game. The score was now 20 - 0 for Gryffindor. Harry saw the snitch.

He looked back and saw that Malfoy didn’t see it. Harry dropped into a dive. He ran right into one of the Slytherin beaters that wasn’t paying attention. He heard a whistling sound in his ears and knew that Malfoy had seen him dive. He was nearing the ground, fast. He pulled up at the absolute last second, grazing the grass with his shoes. The solid thump that he heard told him that Malfoy hadn’t be paying attention to how close to the ground they were getting, he had only been focused on Harry. He had pulled it off, the Wonski Feint.

Harry grinned wildly as he pulled back up to his original height. His grin stretched wider as he heard the cheers and whoops from the crowd. The score was now 40 - 10 for Gryffindor. Now with Malfoy out of the way, he could focus on catching the snitch when it was appropriate. Another ten minutes later and the score was 60 - 10 for Gryffindor. With that significant lead, Harry focused on finding the snitch.

“Harry! You have competition!” Wood shouted out as Harry passed the Gryffindor goal posts. Harry was confused by that statement. In a few seconds he found out. Dudley was in green robes and on a broom. Harry’s jaw dropped open in utter astonishment that Dudley was on a broom.

“Hey Potter.” Dudley sneered exactly like his counter part, Draco.

“Dudley! What are you doing?” shouted Harry.

“Playing quidditch.” was Dudley’s calm response.

“How do you know how to play quidditich?” asked Harry.

“I have been learning. I was trained as a replacement in case something happened to Draco.” Dudley explained. Harry was too stunned to say anything.

“Get a grip!” snarled George into Harry’s ear as he swept past. Harry shook his head to clear his brain and focus upon the game.

He saw the snitch once again and didn’t bother to fake seeing it. The snitch was hovering at eye level in front of the score keeper. Harry leaned closer to his broom and raced to the box. Harry could see Lee Jordan’s eyes widen with shock as Harry drew closer to the box. The snitch drifted lazily out of Harry’s way, taking a turn upward. Harry yanked on the tip of his broom, nearly slipping off at the 90 degree angle. The snitch kept fluttering higher and higher into the clouds. Harry kept coaxing more and more speed out of his broom. He looked down once to see where Dudley was and instantly regretted it. It wasn’t like he was scared of heights, just scared of dementors, and below him was hundreds upon hundreds of dementors. They were so dense that they blocked the field from view.

Harry looked back up at the snitch that had managed to get a few more feet away from Harry. Harry leaned into his broom to make it go even faster. He closed the gap the snitch had made and reached out a hand to grab it. His hand closed tightly over the small, struggling ball. The snitch folded it’s wings back into the ball and Harry jammed it into his pocket. He looked down at the approaching dementors and tried to find an opening. He didn’t see one so he set off toward the castle. He raced his broom with how much time he had left of consciousness. He left the stadium area completely and made it to the castle. He coaxed his broom through the open doors and into the Great Hall.

White light suddenly shown through the open doors and the coldness seeped it’s way back out of Harry’s system. Harry collapsed onto the floor, panting with the sudden disappearance of the struggle to stay conscious. Dumbledore appeared in the door way as the light faded.

“Harry, are you alright?” questioned Dumbledore as he strode into the Great Hall.

“Yes sir.” panted Harry. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the a little gold ball, the golden snitch.

People had gathered at the door. As much to see what was happening as to get out of the down pour. Everyone cheered as Harry held up the snitch. Whoops and whistles were heard outside, making the floor vibrate with the noise. Harry smiled, truly happy for once since the beginning of the year. After the cheering had gone down a little bit, Harry promptly passed out.

Chapter 9

“You guys, be quiet! You’ll wake him!” hissed a voice above him.

“C’mon, he’s been out cold for hours.” whispered another voice.

“That doesn’t mean he won’t wake up!” retorted the first voice.

“We won’t wake him up. He still looks pale.” said another voice. Harry’s mind was starting to hurt figuring out who was talking.

“Quiet Ron!” said Hermione. Harry smiled.

“Yeah, can’t I sleep?” said Harry. He cracked open his eyes and looked at everyone. They all took a sharp intake.

“Harry! Are you okay?” asked Hermione from next to his pillow.

“Yeah Hermione, I’m fine.” he replied. “What happened?”

“Well, after Dumbledore sent off all the dementors, you passed out.” answered Ron.

“Thanks, but I meant the game. Did we win?” asked Harry, recognizing all of his quidditch teammates around his bed.

“Yeah, we won! Great job Harry!” Fred said, clapping him on the shoulder. Harry started to sit up. Almost as if that was a cue, Madam Pomfrey came into the ward.

“Oh your up. Here, eat this.” she handed him a huge bar of chocolate. Harry took a bite, some color returned to his features. “Okay Potter,” Madam Pomfrey said after he finished eating. “You should be able to go now, your fine.” Harry sat up and swung his legs over the bed.

“What time is it?” asked Harry, standing up with Hermione and Ron at his side.

“It’s about dinner time.” replied Ron. “Lets go to the Great Hall. You could do with some food.”

They walked down the hall and a few staircases and arrived in the Great Hall. They walked to the last table in the hall and sat down. They started eating everything in front of them. Harry ate like a person that hasn’t eaten in weeks. After they were finished eating, Harry felt extremely tired. Ron and Hermione helped him stumble up to the dormitory. Ron helped him climbed the stairs up to their room and pushed him on his bed. Harry fell onto his bed fully clothed and instantly went to sleep.

“Harry, come on Harry, wake up!” someone shook him gently, which gradually increased to an all out earthquake. Harry sat up.

“What?” he asked Ron.

“Your going to sleep the day away!” Ron said, fully dressed, and yanking on Harry’s arm to get him moving.

“It’s not like I have to change.” Harry said at an attempt at a joke.

“Yeah, you crashed and burned like a ton of bricks.” Ron replied. Harry got changed fast. He felt something in the pocket of the pants he slept in. He pulled out a small golden ball. Ron came up to him and looked down at the snitch.

“You should return that you know.” Ron said. “It would be hard to play the next game without it.”

Harry smiled and held the golden ball on the palm of his outstretched hand. The snitch spread its wings slowly, as if it had fallen asleep. It flapped its wings which slowly grew faster and faster. It leaped out of Harry’s hand and launched itself out of the open window.

“Ah man!” Harry said, reaching under his bed to pull out his broom. He jumped on it and flew out the window after the snitch. He immediately lost sight of the snitch. He waited a little while and saw a flash of gold, caught in the first rays of light. Harry raced after it. He dived for the snitch, racing it to the ground. He caught it and landed in the entrance way to the Great Hall.

Everyone in there looked up at him, momentarily stunned. Then, they all burst out in hysterical laughter. Harry was seriously confused about what was so funny. He looked down at the snitch in his hand and saw that in his hurry to catch the snitch, he hadn’t put on the new pair of pants. He was standing in the hall in his underwear! Harry turned his back on the hall and jumped back on his broom up to his dormitory.

“You could have told me that I was half naked!” Harry said to Ron, pulling on the pair pants that got him in trouble in the first place. Ron’s face was contorting into a face of extreme pain from hold in his laughter. Harry scowled.

“I’ll get you some breakfast.” Ron said as he left the room. A few minutes later Hermione came into the room.

“How did you get in here?” asked Harry.

“Girls can enter boys dormitory. You just can’t enter our dormitory.” replied Hermione, sitting on Ron’s messy bed.

“And why not?” asked Harry.

“They founders of Hogwarts thought that girls had better judgment than boys.” Hermione answered. Harry shrugged.

“What are doing in here anyways?” asked Harry after a while.

“Ron told me what happened.” Hermione answered. Harry groaned. “Harry, it’s fine. No one will even remember tomorrow.”

Tomorrow came around, walking into every class, Harry was laughed at. Soon a month had passed and the quidditch match was scheduled to take place the next weekend. Everyone would occasionally giggle at him, but he was so used to it, he didn’t even care. Wood was, once again, training his team harder than ever. Their next match was against Ravenclaw.

“Hey Potter!” a familiar voice said behind Harry, two days before the match. Harry stopped walking and slowly turned around. The Malfoy twins were standing side by side in the hallway. Harry was still trying to process the fact that Dudley now only owned one chin.

“What Malfoy?” asked Harry, not sure which one had called his name.

“Are you nervous?” asked Draco Malfoy.

At least their voices still sound like themselves. I would never tell them apart if it weren’t for that, thought Harry, wondering why Draco would ask him that.

“No, why?” Harry retorted.

“We just thought-”

“That you didn’t-”

“Want to lose your-”

“Pants again.” The Malfoy twins answered, pulling a Fred and George by finishing each others sentences.

“What are you talking about?” Harry asked, taking a step forward. He immediately over balance and fell on his face, crushing his glasses in the process. Harry stood up and noticed that his pants were around his ankles and everyone was laughing, again.

Harry looked up at the twins and noticed that Dudley had his wand out and had magically pulled down his pants. Harry bent down and refasten the belt on his pants around his waist. Harry snarled at the Malfoys’ and pulled out his own wand.

Harry shot a spell out of his wand that hit Draco straight in the chest. Draco’s back arched as angry boils appeared under his shirt. Dudley looked at Draco then back at Harry, something he has feared for a long time before he became a wizard, Harry pointing his wand at him. Harry stalked toward Dudley, watching confidence leak out of his eyes to be replaced with fear.

Chapter 10

Dudley pulled out his wand and shot a spell at Harry. Too slow. Harry hit Dudley with the worst spell he could think of. Dudley doubled over as Harry shot the nearest person chewing gum down Dudley’s throat. Harry watched as Dudley’s face slowly turned purple from lack of oxygen.

“Harry!” Hermione said. Harry faced her. He saw sadness there. “Don’t do this!” Harry turned back to Dudley and regretfully waved his wand, clearing Dudley’s throat.

“You - will - pay!” gasped Dudley, standing up straighter.

“I don’t think so.” said Harry, brushing past Dudley, into the Great Hall.

Two days passed and the match was upon everyone. Harry and the rest of the quidditch team headed straight for the field. They all changed into red Gryffindor robes in silence. Once they all heard the chatter of the rest of the school assembling in the benches, did the team troop out and to the center of the field. The Ravenclaw team was entering the field at the same time that they were. They two team captains shook hands and the game began.

Harry took off, the rush of wind in his ears blocked out any sound of the commentary. Harry circled the quidditch pitch, once he came to stop he could hear everything that Lee Jordan was saying.

“And Alicia Spinet has the quaffle, she passes to Angelina Johnson, who passes it back, who passes it back to Johnson. This is as hard to follow as a conversation with the Weasley twins.” Harry saw Fred and George raise their beater bats in Lee’s direction. “Anyway, Spinet has the quaffle, she shoots and... SHE SCORES! 10 - 0 Gryffindor!”

Harry swept around the pitch again, keeping Cho Chang within eye site. He hovered over the Gryffindor goal post as Angelina scored another goal for Gryffindor. Harry punched the air as the crowd cheered. Nearly 50 points later (to Gryffindor), did Harry see the snitch. Harry raced after it. Cho wasn’t far behind him.

“Look! Potter and Chang have found the snitch! Looks like it’s headed for the stand!” Lee was saying.

Harry urged more power out of his broom. He could see Lee now, sitting in the commentary box with McGongall right over his shoulder, making sure he doesn’t steer onto any other topics. The box was getting dangerously close now, Harry realized that the snitch was headed right for the box!

The snitch suddenly pulled up, as if it knew it was about to hit someone. Harry pulled up also, the tail of his broom scraping against the wood of the box. Lee was close to shouting in the megaphone with Professor McGonagall right next to him, calming him down.

Harry climbed higher and higher after the snitch. Harry could hear the wind whistling through the bristles of Cho’s broom tail. Harry kept climbing, always just out of reach of the snitch. Harry leaned in closer to the broom handle and stretched his arm out further. His finger tips scraped the smooth gold skin of the snitch. Harry urged his broom faster and managed to close his fingers around the small, struggling ball.

Harry leveled his broom out and looked down to see that the field had become a small green dot. He heard, distantly, the sound of the crowd cheering. It seemed that no matter how far away he was, the crowd managed to see who caught the snitch.

Harry aimed the handle of his broom downward, and raced back to the stadium. Once he got there, his team mates were hugging him back to the ground. It was the last game of the year, and they won. Dumbledore met the four house teams in the middle of the field.

“Well, the end to the Quidditch season means that the school year will soon be ending too.” Dumbledore began. “Now, for the Quidditch Cup. In fourth place, with 340 points is Hufflepuff.” the crowd gave a polite applause. “In third place with 390 points is Slytherin.” the Slytherin team members all groaned and stood there with their mouths open in disbelief. “In second place with 430 points, Ravenclaw. And in first place with 450 points is Gryffindor.”

The Gryffindor team exploded with excitement. The crowd must have seen what had happened, and started to applaud. Dumbledore stepped up to Oliver Wood and presented him with the Quidditch Cup. Oliver nearly fainted from shock. Fred and George had to hold him up so he didn’t fall over. All the Gryffindor’s walked back up to the common room, cheering the whole way.

Everyone in the common room stayed up late, later than what they should have. Nearly three in the morning, the party was still going strong. Fred and George would always disappear for an hour, and come back with arm loads of food. They weren’t ordered to go to bed until Percy Weasley, the Prefect, went to Professor McGonagall and brought her up to the common room.

Everyone had ran into their dorms before McGongall came in, making Percy look bad, and McGonagall very mad at having been woken up. Once she left, everyone came back down and started partying again. Percy was so mad he didn’t even bother to get McGonagall again. Harry had totally forgotten about the Malfoy twins and being pantsed in public. All his troubles seemed to slip away. He was having a good time with all his class mates and team mates.

Chapter 11

With the end of the quidditch season meant the end of the school year. A few days later, the whole school had settled down from the winning of the quidditch cup. The final exams were coming up, officially ending the school year. Everyone started buckling down and studying. The Malfoy twins weren’t even trying to make Harry’s life miserable the week.

The fifth and seventh year students had the worst time. Between the fifth years OWLs and the seventh years NEWTs, students were being sent to the hospital wing for miss fired spells and break outs of sicknesses. Hermione and Percy were the worst off out of the whole of Gryffindor house. They were always snapping at people to be quiet.

Harry and Ron forced themselves to study nearly as hard as Hermione. It didn’t work out too good. Once the week of finals was over, the student body visibly relaxed. The day after finals was the day before the end of school. Everyone was out in the sunshine that they have been deprived of for the whole week of finals. The trio was sitting under the beach tree by the great lake.

“Well, Transfiguration was okay, but I wasn’t too confident about the third question in Potions.” Hermione was saying.

“Hermione! Do you have to go over the test after we take them? It’s bad enough doing it once.” said Ron. Hermione scowled at him.

“Ron’s right Hermione, these final tests are bad enough just doing them once.” Harry chimed in. Hermione scowled at him too.

“So what do you guys want to do today?” Ron asked, trying to ease the tension.

“We could see Hagrid. We haven’t been by his hut for a while.” suggested Hermione. The two boys nodded in agreement and walked to the edge of the forbidden forest where Hagrid’s hut resided. Once they knocked on the door, Hagrid’s huge head greeted them, offering them to come in.

“So what brings you lot down my way?” Hagrid asked, coming over to them with a large plate of rock cakes, who live up to their name.

“We just wanted to see you Hagrid. Since it is the last day of the school year.” said Hermione, politely taking a rock cake.

“That’s right. I s’pose I won’t see you till next fall.” said Hagrid.

“Well, what are you doing this summer Hagrid?” asked Ron.

“Work for Dumbledore. Great man he is, great man.” replied Hagrid.

A few hours later the trio left Hagrid’s hut, just in time for lunch. They headed back up to the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table, waiting for the golden plates to be filled with mouth watering food. They weren’t disappointed. After eating to their fill, they decided to head back up to the dormitory and pack their trunks.

After Hermione finished packing, and Ron and Harry finished playing their tenth game of exploding snap, it was time for dinner. Just as they were walking into the Great Hall, they spotted the Malfoy twins. They were sitting side by side on the far end of the Slytherin table, laughing at some joke another Slytherin said.

“Come on, let’s go.” said Hermione, shoving Ron and Harry toward their table.

“I can’t believe I have to spend the whole summer with Malfoy!” Harry grumbled.

“Maybe now that they know they are twins, the Malfoy family will take Dudley in.” said Hermione hopefully.

“Then what will happen to me? Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon can’t stand me, and they won’t be able to stand me even more now that they don’t have Dudley as a distraction.” said Harry sourly. Hermione opened her mouth to respond, but at that moment, Dumbledore stood up.

“Well, another year, gone.” Dumbledore started. “Before I continue about who won the House Cup, we should all enjoy this excellent feast.” Once Dumbledore said that, all the golden plates filled with magnificent food. Ron managed to have seconds of everything. Ron still managed to fork down more food when the dinner disappeared to be replaced with dessert. Once that disappeared also, Dumbledore stood up to speak again. Instantly, the hall became silent.

“Now that we are all fed, it is time to announce the winners of the House Cup.” Everyone in the hall cheered and clapped with excitement. “In fourth place, with 457 points is Hufflepuff. In second place, with 465 points is Slytherin.”

From the Slytherin table, someone yelled, “What!!”

“In third place,” Dumbledore continued, as if there had been no interruption. “With 534 points is Ravenclaw. An in first place, with 560 points is Gryffindor.” Dumbledore barely finished before the loud cheering from the Gryffindor table consumed his speech.

The Gryffindor’s cheered and screamed and clapped, not just because they won the House Cup, but because Slytherin was ranked the lowest they had ever been. Dumbledore managed to get the screaming crowd under control again, and the hall to a quiet, excited whisper as he continued.

“It is the end of the school year. To our seventh year students, we say good luck, and to our younger students we shall see you next year.” Dumbledore finished and the students stood up to go back to their dormitory. Once Harry and Ron wished Hermione good night and got into bed they fell asleep. They woke up the next morning to Neville and Dean tearing their dorm apart trying to find all their missing belongings.

Harry and Ron grudgingly got up, changed, and began the long search for things also. Hours later they were done and had met up with Hermione in the common room.

“You didn’t pack yesterday, did you?” she accused.

“No.” they answered.

“Well, you know the cost of not packing earlier. We just have enough time to eat something real quick and make it to the train on time.” said Hermione. Harry looked at his watch to see that it was 10:30, their train would leave in half an hour. They went back up stairs and brought down their trunks, to be taken by someone to the train.

They managed to get a bite of toast before they had to run down to make it to the train just five minutes before it was due to leave. They hopped on and started searching for an empty compartment they could sit in. They found one near the middle of the train, with only Ginny in it.

“Hey guys.” said Ginny cheerfully.

“Hey Gin, where’s your friends?” asked Ron, sitting across from her.

“I’m not sure, I didn’t see them when I got on.” she replied, just as the whistle sounded and the train began to take off.

Harry and Ron played exploding snap the whole train ride. Harry offered to buy everyone snacks as the trolley came by. All in all, I was fun trip, playing exploding snap and eating Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. All too soon it ended though. Harry was almost looking forward to seeing his Aunt and Uncle’s reaction to Duldey’s new transformation.

When he got off and grabbed his trunk, he didn’t see them though. He saw Mrs. Weasley instead. He walked up to her with Ron, Hermione and Ginny.

“Hello Harry dear.” Mrs. Weasley said. “Dumbledore sent us a letter to tell us to take you back to our house for the summer.”

“Really Mrs. Weasley!” said Harry, ecstatic that he didn’t even have to go to the Dursley’s house this summer.

“Yes, now if I could only find Fred, George and Percy then we can go.” she said, walking into the crowd to find them.

“I guess this is good bye.” Harry said, turning toward Hermione.

“My parents might let me come over later during the summer.” she said.

“That would be great.” said Ron.

“See you later Hermione.” said Harry and Ron.

“Bye!” she waved back at them as she headed over to her parents. Mrs. Weasley came back seconds later with the twins and Percy in tow.

“Let’s go, shall we.” she said, heading to the brick wall that marked the entrance into the magical world, and the start of a great summer for Harry.
