Chapter 1

As Allison looked up and down the street, she sighed. When she was sure no one was around, Allison jumped into the air and morphed into her cat self. The cat hit the ground lightly on her feet and slinked off.

The midnight-black cat padded around the corner, her amber eyes blazing. She stopped, and perked her ears up. Yes, there it was again. The soft pitter-patter of dog paws.

Allison hopped onto the wall she was standing by and sat down. In the dim moonlight, she could see a dog coming nearer. The cat laid her tail calmly over her paws, and waited.

The dog coming closer was midnight-black, like Allison’s cat form. She could tell it was her sister Kimmy. “Hello little sister, where’s Elliot?” Allison had two younger sisters, who were twins. “Sorry Mousecatcher, but she didn’t want to come, and you know only you and Mom can make her do things!” Barked the black Labrador.
“I see. Well, hold on.”

Mousecatcher closed her eyes. Communicating from this far away would take a lot of concentration.
“Elliot, are you there?” Allison said in her head.
She was right. It was hard to hold the signal. Allison closed her eyes tighter.
“Oh! Hi Mousecatcher!” Purred Allison’s little sister. Elliot was a tiger, but wasn’t as skilled as Mousecatcher, even though she was three times as big as the small black house cat.
“Why aren’t you down here?”
“Kimmy wouldn’t tell me what we were doing, and I was hungry!”
“Well, she doesn’t know either! Only the mentors know! And you are always hungry! Get your mouse-brained head down here! Now!” Mousecatcher growled at her apprentice. And with a pop, the signal ended.

“Is she coming?” Asked Kimmy.
“Yes Pawprint,” sighed Mousecatcher. “We’ll just have to wait for her then. It is too dangerous for her to be out alone.”

Chapter 2

As the three animals padded through the forest, the air grew colder, and the clouds covered the moon. “This isn’t a good sign,” said Mousecatcher. The cat picked up her pace, and the tiger and the dog had to jog to keep up. “Ok, guys. We will start talking telepathically now,” said Allison in her head.
“Why?” Kimmy answered back.
“Because it is a dangerous time right now, and we want to be as quiet as we can during the meeting. We don’t want to be caught in the Forbidden Forest by anything other than a nice friendly unicorn.” Elliot couldn’t tell if her sister and mentor had hissed or purred. It sort of sounded like a choke.
Elliot asked the question that had been on both the twin’s minds. “Why are we having the meeting in the Forbidden Forest anyway? May I remind you, it’s forbidden.”
“Because, Stripetail, no one will come into the Forbidden Forest besides us. We have no chance of being attacked by anything that doesn’t live in the forest,” Mousecatcher said flatly.

From then on, there was a depressed silence as they trotted steadily down the path. All of a sudden, Mousecatcher veered off the path and started to zigzag through the trees. Stripetail and Pawprint looked at each other, then shrugged. They started to wind through the trees too. They knew better than to mess with their sister when she was in a bad mood.

“To confuse anyone who’s following us,” whispered Mousecatcher, telepathically, of course. After about fifteen minutes of winding, Mousecatcher stopped. She raised her nose to the air, than ran up a high slope. At the top of the slope was a clearing. There was a mound of dirt in the middle, on which a tall girl was swinging her feet off as she sat. All around the clearing were six other girls all standing together, and all three newcomers could hear all the conversation buzzing around in their heads.

Allison morphed into her human self again. She had long, dirty blond hair pulled back into a ponytail. She wore a pair of blue shorts, and a black shirt. She had picked the outfit especially for tonight, as they stood in the dark.

As the two twins morphed, they could tell that everyone else had chosen dark colors. It was like a new fashion craze! The twins were not identical. Stripetail had short, strawberry blond hair, and freckles on her face. Pawprint had long, dark brown hair, and wore glasses.

Mousecatcher jogged over to the mound where the girl was sitting. She had short, blond hair, and she wore all black clothes. “Hello, Moonlight. I think we should get started,” worried Mousecatcher.
“We were just waiting for you,” agreed the girl.

Moonlight hopped up, and morphed into a massive dragon. The dragon was golden, with flecks of red. Out of her mouth came a lick of fire. “Let the meeting begin,” she roared.

Chapter 3

All the girls turned around, and morphed into their animal form. Mousecatcher could name all of them. There was Ariel, or Moonlight, who was a dragon. Her father was the Dark Lord himself, whom the Daughters had defeated the year before. She went by the name Ariel Hesher, so she wouldn’t have people following her with fire and pitchforks.

There was Maggie, or Snout, who was a wolf. Snout was Harry’s twin sister, so she was always working with Harry. Michelle, or Floppy Ears, was a golden retriever. She was the youngest Weasley, so Ginny was always coming to the meetings.

There was of course Elliot, Allison, and Kimmy, who were all sisters. All three were greatly skilled in transfiguration, as they were the daughters of the former transfiguration professor, McGonagall.

There was Joanne, who was Maggie and Harry’s cousin. Moonlight had found the baby brown donkey six years ago, roaming in the forest. Abagail Margaret was a leopard, and went by the name Blackspot. She was the daughter of the famous Azkaban escapee, Sirius.

There was one girl that all the Daughters knew well, for she stood out from the rest. Alyssa Lupin was not in any animal form like the other girls standing around the circle. Silverfang was a werewolf, like her father.

Last but not least, there was Frogthroat. Frogthroat used to be a frog, but she gave up her life to help the Daughters defeat Voldemort. Later they had her replaced with a fairy named Twinklewing. Mousecatcher always felt a twang when she thought about Bonnie, but she knew today she had to focus.

“As you all know,” rasped Moonlight, “there is danger in Hogwarts again.” All the girls whispered about this, then stopped when Abagail began to talk.
“I heard them as I walked down the hall. They are a group of Gryffindors, who are planning something. They stopped talking after they saw me.”
“From what Harry’s seen of them,” growled Maggie, “I think they’re working for Voldemort.”

This roused startled cries from all around the circle. “But how could Voldemort’s Death Eaters be in Hogwarts? There was only one student who was a Death Eater!” Floppy Ears exclaimed.
“Malfoy.” Snout’s voice was like a hiss.

“Yah,” said Blackspot. “They would be too old!”
“Unless they got new Death Eaters when we weren’t paying attention,” Twinklewing chimed in.

“Or they used an aging spell!” Pawprint added.
“Well, it doesn’t matter how they got in, but they did,” sighed Mousecatcher. “We will have to be alert for anything suspicious until we can anticipate their next move.”

“Good idea Mousecatcher,” replied Moonlight. “We’ll have to watch out especially for McGonagall. since she is Head Mistress and all.”

“Oh! We should also watch Flitwick, because if anything happened to McGonnagall, he would take her place,” Silverfang added.

“Great! So everyone watch out for anything suspicious. McGonagall kids, watch out for her as much as possible. And Silverfang, you’re in charge of watching Flitwick. And if anyone sees anything suspicious, report it immediately! Meeting concluded,” finished Moonlight.

All the animals turned around, and with final goodbyes, ran down the slope in groups of two or three. After all the girls had left, the dragon flew into the air, and up into the clouds.
