Great idea ihkny! I agree completely, that if we don't have any questions that a quiz is the perfect thing. I searched for that fill in the blank, but I couldn't find it. Maddie beat me to it, anyways biggrin.gif

More great ideas; Hermion-ette of the month!

Do you think eleven is a special date in the magical world? Like if that is when your magical powers are really starting to show or is it just random??

I think that it is partially both. I think that they organized it so that they would be finished their schooling around the time when they come of age. Also, when they start school when they are eleven , they will recieve 7 years of schooling, and 7 is an important number. I also think 11 is a good age for them to understand everything; not to old, and not too young.
LeoTheLionness1986
Do you think eleven is a special date in the magical world? Like if that is when your magical powers are really starting to show or is it just random??

Well I do remember one of the books saying somewhere that if your not showing signs of magic by age 11, then you have NO magical powers at all. But I do admit that age 11 is sort of random, but then again that is about the age when grade school starts and Hogwarts is like a grade school and high school combinded.
bookworm_1918
I remember in DH, when they were talking/listening to info about Ariana, when I think it was Aberforth who said that usually powers start to appear at age seven, the age when Ariana disappeared (causing all the rumors!). So I'd guess seven...plus eleven is the age when most kids start Middle School. So I think that maybe they want kids to get Elementary school education before coming to HOgwarts. I don'tknow...just a thought

Hey! Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I'm really busy, I'm at my best friends house who has live a long way away from me for years so I really should be visiting her. Well, I'll talk to Droobles or someone, and then I'll get back to you on the Hermione-ette thing.

Welcome all newbies!

Happy Hermy-posting!

Sorry, sorry, girls, for being such a terrible fan, but as you can imagine, I'm up to many clubs, many buddies, and many pics, and just an hour!! wacko.gif I'm going crazy with this pressure tongue.gif

Ok, I read past that you wanted to pull out a trivia ... that's great! But don't count with me for the blanks in the senteces since I have all my books but DH in Spanish. But I love the true/false! And the trivia also. Just I'm afraid at this rate, I'll be late whenever you set a question laugh.gif
And I have no problems in making a winner avi! Just that it'd be a bit tricky th system you're going to use, you have to think well about that first wink.gif If you need help, I'd be glad of helping you through this.
And (yeah, yeah, many ands') the Hermione-tte is great! Very encouraging and exciting ... Be Hermione Granger for a month!

All right, questions:

Why do you think Hermione did not start attending Hogwarts until she was almost 12 ? School did not start until September 1, which would only leave Hermione 18 days until she would turn the correct age to attend, so why wait almost a complete year before admitting her ?

I don't know, before I knew it, I thought Hermione was the youngest, not the oldest. Maybe it's because she started all her school life (I mean, since elementary) later, because otherwise, she'd have had a spare year!! I don't know, does that have any sense?

Do you think eleven is a special date in the magical world? Like if that is when your magical powers are really starting to show or is it just random??

Well, that's not very Hermione-ish, but ... No, I guess it's when you usually starts high school in the UK? Isn't it? I thought it was. Here's at 12. But no! You start showing powers at ... 6, I think Aberforth said. But, yeah, if you don't show any signs of magic by your 11 unsure.gif You're a squib!

Trivia Time!!!

T/F: Hermione's dress in the Yule Ball was pink.

Which subject left Hermione after Third Year?

T/F: Auntie Muriel said she had skinny legs.

When was the first time Hermione spent her holidays at the Burrow?

In The Goblin's Revenge, Hermione told Ron about a certain law ... which was it?

That's all for now!

Hey everyone! Sorry for being gone for awhile; School and homework and I get so tired that I fall asleep; Right now I'm doing homework lol ;D and that Hermion-ette of the month sounds great! I was wondering the other day if anyone was going to suggest that happy.gif anywho onto questions!

Why do you think Hermione did not start attending Hogwarts until she was almost 12 ? School did not start until September 1, which would only leave Hermione 18 days until she would turn the correct age to attend, so why wait almost a complete year before admitting her ?

Funny thing is that somewhere I wrote about this already. I even pointed out the fact that she was a year behind. But I too thought that she was the youngest, because girls are always seen as the young ones, but then I was suprised that she was older and then I laughed becuase Ron was younger ;D But anywho like everyone has mentioned it's like in the schools here; The cut off date is Sept.1 and luckily for me I was born August 30. So I was saved biggrin.gif ! Also maybe she was also held behind in the muggle world so she was 11 in 5th grade and if you noticed usually at 11 you're starting middle school and usually for that you change schools and that's when they get you so it doesn't look suspicious that you left all of a sudden. I mean I don't know how the school systems work in London but that makes sense to me happy.gif haha.

Do you think eleven is a special date in the magical world? Like if that is when your magical powers are really starting to show or is it just random??

Alright sorry for going a bit religious but to me eleven is like being Jewish for a boy and turning thirteen you know? That's one way of looking at it. Or in the Latin culture when a girl turns fifteen she is consider a young woman and they do a big party and what not; Maybe DeSs knows what I am talking about tongue.gif lo anywho maybe it's a significane to the magical world. I mean even before you're eleven you still show signs of magic; They may not be all that full out magic but you are aready showing signs. Maybe there is a story behind eleven. Or it can just be random (:
ihkny
Goodness, I start college and am gone for a day, come back and there have been tons of posts made !

Why do you think Hermione did not start attending Hogwarts until she was almost 12 ? School did not start until September 1, which would only leave Hermione 18 days until she would turn the correct age to attend, so why wait almost a complete year before admitting her ?

Well... I don't know where to start with my thoughts on this. Hermione was already rather good at magic on the Hogwarts Express, before she had even set foot in the school and we all know underage magic is not permitted; that tells us that within the amount of time she set foot on the train, she was already able to perform spells she had A) taught herself and B ) never had any real type of experience casting yet. Anyhow, I say all of that because some of you were talking about when one begins showing signs of magic and if you haven't by age elven you are considered a squib; I'm pretty sure that most magical children experience their first bouts into the arts of witchcraft and wizardry at a young age, when their emotions are less controlled, this doesn't really have much to do with anything besides the fact that I'm sure many show magical signs before 6. As for why start at the school once one turns eleven, BRoyals had the same thoughts as me about the number of years for attendance being 7, as that is a powerful magical number.

I suppose it makes since though, that the cut off date is September 1. It's just always seemed odd to me to make a child wait a whole year more because they were born after August. I suppose I should have realized things worked that way since I'm a November baby and I've always thought it odd that so many others were younger than me, when really I'm the oddball for being behind a grade due to the month by birth fell in. Anyhow...

It's funny you say that the girls seem as if they would be the younger. In Gryffindor, from the information I could gather, there are four girls that were twelve and four boys that were twelve - Gryffindor is the only house with females that enter the school being older than some of the boys (atleast, from what can be accounted for). There were no twelve year olds sorted into the house of Ravenclaw for their first year, only one in Hufflepuff (Cedric) and two in Slytherin (Tom Riddle Jr. *Omigosh, a difference between Harry and Voldiecakes !* And someone with the surname Warrington). Curiously enough, there is actually one student that attended Hogwarts at the age of 10, Narcissa (Black) Malfoy, who was born in 1955 and began schooling in 1966. I guess you'd have to be a pureblood to enter early. ohmy.gif

T/F: Hermione's dress in the Yule Ball was pink.

False ! In Book-verse it was blue. I was actually really upset they had her in that pink thing, it's like they're trying to make her more feminine and that just isn't the real Hermione. (I just picked one so others can answer too !)

T/F: Auntie Muriel said she had skinny legs.
Well, if I remember correctly (and I don't have my book) Auntie Muriel said she had 'skinny ANKLES'

Yeah, ihkny, I was a bit disappointed with that too. I also hated the fact that the movie ruined the whole idea of dress robes. As great as the Yule Ball was, I didn't like that~!!
BRoyals
Which subject left Hermione after Third Year?

Hermione gave up Muggle Studies at the end of the third book (unless you count Divination). Without those two subjects she could have a normal timetable.

T/F: Hermione got three hundred and twelve percent on her Muggle Studies exam.(Chapter 22, PoA)
T/F: Fred and George have Cleennsweep Fives.(Chapter 7, CoS)

I was disappointed about both; not having robes, and Hermione being in pink.

But don't count with me for the blanks in the senteces since I have all my books but DH in Spanish. But I love the true/false! And the trivia also.

I have the same problem... Except that my books are in Norwegian and not in Spanish(That would be very interesting considering that I don't know any spanish!) Although I just bought all of the books in the english version from Amazon. I need something to keep my English going since I'm not having that class this year, and I might write about Harry Potter in my Norwegian analysis this year, or else I have to analyse something really boring my teacher decides( dry.gif )

Anyway...

When was the first time Hermione spent her holidays at the Burrow?

In between their third and fourth year! (I think, correct me if I'm wrong)

And by the way, my birthday is 31 of August so I'd be exactly within the limits of starting Hogwarts...
LeoTheLionness1986
Ok here it goes and I am replying without any of my books they are all packed away sad.gif

T/F: Hermione's dress in the Yule Ball was pink?

False. I thought it was more red than pink more like a fushia sort of color!

Which subject left Hermione after third year?

Well I know she left Divination during the third year. And Hermione, Harry and Ron left Care of Magical Creatures after O.W.L. year!

T/F: Auntie Muriel said she had skinny legs?

False. It was skinny ankles!

When was the first time Hermione spent her holidays at the Burrow?

Well think it was like in the HBP! But I really don't remember!

In the Goblin's Revenge, Hermione told Ron about a certain law...which was it?

I don't have any clue.

P.S.
hey everyone just thought I'd let y'all know that I heard from my Outreach Admissions counselor from Job Corps and she finnally got the waver that she was waiting for approved. Yayaya so it probably won't be too much longer til I am off to Job Corps! Yayaya!!! I'll let y'all know when I have my departure date!
DeSs
ihkny got the dress question!!! And yes, it did upset me too, because blue doesn't make you more or less feminine! It's Hermione's more suitable color, I'd say. I'd have loved to see the blue dress, but well, the pink one was good anyway. I wanted to have the same for my graduation but my mum said it's horrible sad.gif Well, not horrible, but unfavorable for plain girls like me.

bookworm_1918 had the Muriel's one!! Well done, also for LeoTheLionness1986 there.

BRoyals had the subject question! Because I was meaning after third year, and she left Divination before ends of term.

Norberta has her answer right too! The first time Hermione Granger spent at the Burrow was for the Quidditch World Cup, before their Fourth Year. Then she spent her summer there before Sixth year, and then before going after the Horcruxes.

Nobody up to the following question? In The Goblin's Revenge, Hermione told Ron about a certain law ... which was it? It's Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, of course! The one Ron amazingly remembered later!

So ... if you let me, Sadie, I'd say that you guys have:

ihkny: 10 elf-bonnets
bookworm_1918: 10 elf-bonnets
BRoyals: 10 elf-bonnets
Norberta: 10 elf-bonnets
LeoTheLionness1986: 10 elf-bonnets

I chose elf-bonnets for fun, actually laugh.gif
BRoyals
Yay! I have 10 elf-bonnets! But if the elves have bonnets, doesn't that count as clothes? And doesn't that mean they are free? Free elf-bonnets!

How could Ron remember a question that I couldn't remember? Go figure. And now, if I may, I have some questions to ask. I made it easy for you all. The chapters and books are listed. The questions are easy as well.

T/F: Hermione got three hundred and twelve percent on her Muggle Studies exam.(Chapter 22, PoA)[b]

How many bonnets did I get?
ihkny
While I am extremely excited and honored you all love the Hermione Trivia Game idea, if we are going to be making a Point System (that will possibly earn someone a Hermione-ette of the Month icon if permitted), then we will have to set up a few different rules. As a game just for fun (not that it won't be with point awards) we don't need to regulate the amount of questions, but with points being awarded we need to regulate the amount of Trivia a person can introduce per post; meaning, I think one Quiz Question per person per post is fair. I don't want to put a damper on anyone's fun, but it isn't fair to pose so many at once where the next person to post can answer to each and earn 10-elfbonnets per correct answer. Of course, we could leave the amount limitless, but limit each user to answer 1 per post, that's harder to keep up with though as some people don't read other peoples' responses (not accusing anyone, sometimes it just happens, especially if two pages are filled up before they recheck the thread !).

Preferably, I would go with regulating it to one Quiz Question per person per post, as it will make it easier to keep track of who answered first, everyone can have a chance to answer a question to earn points fairly, and it will make the game go further (as it will leave more Trivia out there for later usage.)

Maddie, you're a girl after my own heart ! Goblet of Fire is my favourite book ! wub.gif

Chapter 25:
~'Come seek us where our voices sound
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching,ponder this:
We've taken what you'll sorely miss...'~

I'll start putting up more Trivia after we've decided how we're going to do this, and after Maddie's Goblet of Fire Mania Trivia is answered.

And DeSs makes an excellent point, one even I forgot. This is the Unofficial Hermione Fan Club, and should be Hermione related, so any Trivia introduced should have to do with her.

Happy Hunting !

Chapter 16- During the feast after Beauxbatons and Durmstrang arrive, what food did Hermione introduce Ron too that she had tried on vacation.

There it is!! So are we doing that one-question per post thing that ihkny thought we should do???
Eisa
Since I would be amazingly bad at trivia because I haven't read the books in forever, and don't even have any of them except the first one, which is currently falling to pieces...tongue.gif LOL

Why do you think Hermione did not start attending Hogwarts until she was almost 12 ? School did not start until September 1, which would only leave Hermione 18 days until she would turn the correct age to attend, so why wait almost a complete year before admitting her ?
I think it's why other people said...she just missed the cut-off date. That happens in the Muggle world, too, where people end up really close to getting to go to kindergarten or first grade or whatever, but they're not quite old enough. rolleyes.gif Which would annoy me if I were her! That might explain why she seems more mature, though...it's not just her personality and everything, it's also her age!

Do you think eleven is a special date in the magical world? Like if that is when your magical powers are really starting to show or is it just random??
I think it does have something to do with how you're generally about to start middle school and all then, and people don't notice so much that you're not in Muggle school anymore. And that probably is about when your magical powers start to show, as I believe someone pointed out...that if they haven't shown by 11, you don't have magic.

That kind of makes me wonder how exactly the Muggle parents cope when their children start showing all these signs of magic! laugh.gif

OOOOH, maybe that means I have a question! Sorry if it's stupid or doesn't make sense or if it's already been asked or anything, but...

How do you think Hermione's parents reacted when or if Hermione showed signs of magic? Or, to broaden it, how do you think Muggle parents act in general when their children show signs of magic?
Norberta
So I'm only allowed to answer one question on the trivia?

OK here goes *finds book*:

Chapter 20- When Ron and Harry make up from their fight after the First Task, what does Hermione do?

- Hermione bursts into tears

And what are elf- bonnets? I checked my dictionary and there it sad hat. So elf hat?

How do you think Hermione's parents reacted when or if Hermione showed signs of magic? Or, to broaden it, how do you think Muggle parents act in general when their children show signs of magic?

They panic offcourse. Maybe Hermione's parents freaked out and took her to psychiatrist or something. "my child keeps blowing up my flower vase, but I can't figure out how she does it!" Or maybe they think she's possesed by the devil and they take her to see a priest.. OK enough rambling. Maybe they just noticed that there was something weird going on, but couldn't really figure out what it was, and then they learn that she's a witch and then they realize that that was what it was. Hope that made sense!
sadie_urlady523
OK, you guys. I just sent a PM to Just the Droobles, and I'm waiting for his reply on the whole Hermione-ette thing. Here's a little quiz though, while you're anxiously waiting for his reply!

OK, so wait-- do the elf bonnets determine Hermione-ette, or are those two different things? Or a combination, or...yeah nevermind.
sadie_urlady523
Oooooh, Maddie! You didn't answer my questions!

Well, I'm still waiting for a reply from Droobles, but if we DO do it, you guys can send nominations via owl to me or Kelly, and then we will decide, based on how much you contribute, the quality of posts, etc...

Hope he says yes!

If not, maybe we could conspire against the mods... grouphug.gif

I think we should start the Hermione Trivia Game over and clear the slate. I think someone should make a post on the Official Rules for the game, amount of Elf-Bonnets earned per answer and how many questions can be posed per post, etc. If maybe Sadie/Maddie/DeSs want to talk to me and we can talk about what we're going to use (if you guys want me to help with it, you can just do it with the three of you if you don't, lol), that would probably be a good idea to help the other members understand what is/isn't allowed and how it is played/who is winning; to solve any confusion thus far.

How do you think Hermione's parents reacted when or if Hermione showed signs of magic? Or, to broaden it, how do you think Muggle parents act in general when their children show signs of magic?

I think Hermione's parents may have been a little freaked out, but intrigued about what it is that was going on with their daughter. They seem like they've always been very supportive and loving parents. so I don't see them shunning her for it, or distancing themselves from the oddity. Broadening it changes the answer completely, however. Everyone is different and no one child's parents are going to respond the same to the phenomenon. So really it just depends on how they were raised and how open they are to unexplanable events. Some could be like the Dursleys and others could be like Hermione's.

Bookworm_1918:

Chapter 16- During the feast after Beauxbatons and Durmstrang arrive, what food did Hermione introduce Ron too that she had tried on vacation.

Goblet of Fire, pg. 251. Hermione had Ron try Bouillabaisse; described as a sort of shellfish stew.

Just send me a PM if you guys want to talk about it with me. smile.gif I'd like to cease the Trivia Game until everything's figured out though, so we don't get even more confused and can figure out what all needs to be done with it/if it is even allowed. If I am even allowed to request that.

I think we should do 10 elf-bonnets for one correct answer, and you can only answer one question per post, to make it fair for everyone. Sadie? DeSs? Any thoughts on that?

Sadie, I can't answer them, DeSs already did!!! Plus if we're going to pause the trivia game until it's all sorted out...then...

OH, gosh. All confused here. How about a quesiton?

What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?
I'd have to say a lilac color. She seems like a light-purple person to me. Pink is too girly girly for her, and dark/medium blue seems a little too calm and relaxed for Hermione. So whatever color, a light one. Maybe even a very pale bluish-purple color
Eisa
What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?
Actually, bookworm_1918, that's what I was thinking her favorite color might be! Some shade of purple. Although, I could see her really liking indigo. Maybe even some shades of green. But like warmer shades, like red or yellow or orange, I definitely don't see as her favorite color. I think whatever color it would be, it would be one of the cool shades.
harry_potter_luvr_4life
What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?

I have to agree. I think maybe a pink or purple. Or a mix between the two. Something in the cooler shades. Nothing like hot pink but a nice soft lilac or magenta or something in that region I could see her liking.

How do you think Hermione's parents reacted when or if Hermione showed signs of magic? Or, to broaden it, how do you think Muggle parents act in general when their children show signs of magic?

I think they would be shocked, confused, freaked out, and intrigued all at the same time. I know I would be if I were them. All Muggle parents would be freaked out for sure but after that I would most likely say shocked, confused, intrigued, and interested.

What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?

Well lol I don't know about you all but a mix between purple and pink is the color that I was thinking which is magenta (: I think that color suits her. Like the sweater that she wore in PoA. I liked tha for her <3 Or maybe some pastel or gentle color. I don't know. Or maybe even red ;D
harry_potter_luvr_4life
I agree Nicky. I think magenta would be one of her favorite colors. A pink-ish purple-ish color is what I would picture her in most often. Especially with her dress for GOF!!!
ihkny
What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?

I agree with Eisa, definitely cool shades for Hermione. I'm leaning more towards indigo than any pink shades. Lilac might be her color too, they are both good colors for her.

P.S. Hope to have the Hermione Trivia sorted out soon everyone !
LeoTheLionness1986
Well you said something about 1 question per post, but I'm not sure what you meant by that but I am going to answer some questions. LOL! Here it goes....

Chapter 20- When Ron and Harry make up from their fight after the First Task, what does Hermione do?

Tells them to never fight again! LOL! I don't remember!

Chapter 24- T/F: Hermione is unsurprised by the fact that Hagrid's a half-giant

True, she even told Harry and Ron that it was so obvious! LOL!

Chapter 14- For S.P.E.W., Hermione appointed Harry as _______ and Ron as ______

Harry = Treasure and Ron = Secretary. Or its probably the other way around! LOL!

Chapter 9- (Fill in the blanks)
Hermione ______ on him.
"That doesn't mean she hasn't got _____, Ron. It's _____the way---" (Mr. Weasley interrupts her..)

OMG, I don't remember this line!

Chapter 16- During the feast after Beauxbatons and Durmstrang arrive, what food did Hermione introduce Ron too that she had tried on vacation.

OMG, I don't remeber the names all I know is that they have like really long names and I don't know if I would want to try to eat that new food. LOL!
bookworm_1918
OK, LeoTheLioness. As we're sorting out the Trivia Game thing, I'm not sure if this counts...but I'll give you some elf-bonnets anyways...is that all right with everybody? Once we get the game rules all figured out we can start over...or whatever we decide to do. tongue.gif

Well you said something about 1 question per post, but I'm not sure what you meant by that

Well, I think ihkny meant that when you post, you can only answer one trivia question. Since we haven't figured out the rules I think it would be OK for now, though biggrin.gif

Alright I'll answer my own Hermione questions for you guys .

Chapter 20- She burst into tears and say 'You two are so STUPID!' (laugh.gif)

Chapter 24- Yeah, that's true. She had always figured that he was half-giant

Chapter 14 It's the other way around. Harry's secretary and Ron's treasurer.

Chapter 9 Hermione ROUNDED on him.
"That doesn't mean she hasn't got FEELINGS, Ron! It's DISGUSTING the way---"

Chapter 16 Bouillabasse (sp?). Hermione had it on holiday

OK, so 15 elf-bonnets to LeoTheLioness1986!! I gave you five for the SPEW question because you were half-right biggrin.gif

Oh i miss this thread i havent been here in foreverr!! So what's the deal with this trivia game? Is it a go or no? Also, is there a certain person that makes up the questions or can anyone make them up? And someone mentioned the Hermione-ette, so is UHFC doing like the same thing as WAW does with the Dumbledore-ette?
sadie_urlady523
Well, we are still waiting for a reply from Droobles for permission on all of these things. And another, Kelly, I think you answered my questions. No one else did! You got all of them right, though. That's 40 elf-bonnets for you! Haha. Well, as long as it's about Hermione, I think that these Trivia things can go on. Just not the big one ikhny was thinking about. We should need permission for that. So, I guess it all depends on Just the Droobles. dots.gif I hope he reads all of the owls that he is getting from us!

Sadie
Norberta
* Is confused about the whole trivia thing*

I hope we get the whole trivia thing going on soon! And I was thinking.. What if the person who answer the question gives another one for others to answer. That way, we don't have to wait for Dess or saidy or ihkny or whomever and the trivia will go faster. But I think one person should be in charge og giving away the elf-hats(or bonnets).

What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?

I'm thinking blue. Maybe because if I'm not mistaken that is Ron's eye colour( wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif ) But I think the colour suits her well, especially if it is a dark shade of blue. It is a colour that suits very wise people. In additon according to my Religion's teacher blue is a colour that represents the strong women. Like in some old christian paintings you often see virgin Mary wear blue. Blue is also the colour that represents loyalty!
sadie_urlady523
Well actually, Norberta, we are waiting for a reply from Droobles, and then we are going to find out what is up with the whole Hermione-ette/trivia thing. I'm not really sure what's going to happen.

What do you think Hermione's favorite color would be?

Well, blue just strikes me as a "Hermione color". I'm not sure why, though. Need I say more?

*Mod Interjection*

Hello Hermione-lovers!

I have received all the PMs from Sadie and ihkny, and I've tossed the requests and explanations into the rest of the Mods heads for now. So, if I could ask a favour from this thread, please just keep the topic on Hermione right now. I know a lot of threads are having trouble coming up with new questions since we're at the end of HP, so, as I suggested to ihkny, maybe think of questions that can be related back to Hermione. Relate to real life things that you as members have experienced.

Example: Hermione was a victim of Ron's selfishness when he tried to make her jealous by going crazy with Lavender. Have you ever had a similar experience? Has anyone done something to make you jealous or purposely hurt your feelings like Ron did?

Ok, maybe not the best question, but if you can think of something, more power to you. Another thing, once a person posts a question, wait until a lot of people post with an answer, and then post another question. Six million questions at once can be overwhelming and confusing, and often times there's not really discussion as much as there is individual answers. Plus, it'll make your questions last longer and give other people more time to think of new ones. smile.gif

Please try to do the best you can in here and leave out the Trivia. I'll get back to you on that one. wink.gif

I have had that happen to me. I had a friend who liked the same person I did, and she got mad at me. She's a year older than me, and she used that power to ask the guy (who will remain nameless) to go out with her. He did, and she enjoyed rubbing it in my face. We stopped talking for a while, and then later when she had apologized, she said that I had stopped spending time with her and talking to her, so she tried to make me jealous by doing that. It really hurt my feelings, but I realized how much I had ignored her.

Oh, and sorry about all the pestering, Droobles. I guess when Hermione lovers get together, ideas form and then we can't stop! laugh.gif

I think it's a good proposition, Droobles, and I'm up to it! happy.gif And great question! We could relate things in a mature way with Hermione and real life.

Hermione was a victim of Ron's selfishness when he tried to make her jealous by going crazy with Lavender. Have you ever had a similar experience? Has anyone done something to make you jealous or purposely hurt your feelings like Ron did?

I think I haven't. When I was in grade 9th, my friend and I liked the same guy, but as she's much more pretty and cool than me, the boy of course fell with her. Previously, we talked together about him, fancing, but we weren't againts each other at all. But the thing is ... my 15th birthday was the day he chose to ask her out, and ... they ended up snogging in my own birthday! I was very sad, but I knew my friend didn't do it on purpose. And they didn't do it on my face. They they dated and my crush vanished, luckily, and I realised that he was womanizer and not my kind. Then ... yes, sometimes I did suffered selfishness, but I knew to stand it up. happy.gif
bookworm_1918
OK, Droobles!!! I suppose we should listen to you, seeing as you're a mod! tongue.gif

Thankfully, no! Once, my friend and I had a crush on the same person, but it was ... oh... not old enough to go out or anything, so it didn't really matter...
Eisa

To make me jealous, no. To purposely hurt my feelings...well...there's a gray area. 'Cause I don't know~does cheating on me for a month and lying to me about it count? shutup.gif Oh, and then acting like it was all MY fault that he cheated on me, and that I was a horrible person because I was friends with the woman he was cheating on me with. sad.gif (She didn't know, by the way). He definitely hurt my feelings. A lot. Especially since he was my best friend before that... eeek.gif

But I'm pretty sure my fiance now won't do that ever. wub.gif

Hahaha! People puposely hurt my feels all the time by making fun of me....if its not for my glasses it for my wieght or God knows what else. But thankfully; and I am probably putting my foot in my mouth; no one has tried to make me jealous. And I'm sorry to say I don't think it would work! Because I feel this way is someone wants to be with someone else, but yet they like me and don't have the balls to say "Sarah, I like you and I want to go out with you.", then they must not want to go out with me so badly. LOL!
Hermione17

I would honestly have to say "no". There was a guy when I was a freshman in High School that really wanted to date me, but my friend at the time had a crush on him....so to not be mean I turned him down (even though I really really wanted to date him) and told him to ask her out...since she really liked him. But no one has ever tried to make me jealous on purpose.

I'm the type of person where if a friend of mine goes out of their way to hurt me...well they aren't much of a friend in the first place. I don't have any problems cutting people loose and finding people that are true friends. I believe that "The people you surround yourself with help shape the person you are". So if someone isn't a good friend to me or others....it's easy for me to drop them like a bad habit.

LeoTheLionness1986
Hermione17, I totally agree with what you are saying. I don't think I could have said better myself. LOL!
Hermione17
Thank you LeoTheLionness1986 I'm glad that some else shares my perspective. I didn't want to come across as being mean LOL..but that is just how I feel. I'm sure a lot of people feel the way we do wink.gif
