I saw it, and thought it was mostly stupendous. I really liked it overall, and I loved Emmy Rossum's voice. I didn't, however, like Gerald Butler's voice, it was too soft and gentle to be the Phantom. He needed more power and emotion,
That didn't stop me from borrowing the soundtrack and listening to it almost nonstop! (hehe) I think I'm going to buy the one with Sarah Brightman though...
Duuuhhhh! Duh duh duh duh duuuuuuhhhhhnnnnn!

Oh My Gosh!!! ["the phantom of the opera is there, inside my mind"] I love that song. Even the Angel of Music. I thing Gerard was a good singer, but I didn't like Patrick Wilson (Rahoul) that much.

I love this film. I've read the book, and bawled all the way through it. Gerard Butler is amazing and gorgeous! Did you know he won the role over Antonio Banderas?
My favourite song is most definately Don Juan and Point of No Return. Talk about a emotionally disturbing and erotic scene.

He's so is. I have like tons of pictures of him in my room. Even though I only watch three of his movies. I have a site of him.

I've read the book - Phantom of the Opera by Gaston LeRoux, it is a difficult read, the movie is much easier on the mind (and lighter too).
I've seen the movie twice, and are the first person on the list for the DVD release at the local video store.

The Phantom Of The Opera was definitely the best movie I've seen in awhile, and I'm a movie buff so that's a lot of high praise!!

Me and me mates actually watched it like, 3 times in the cinema on 3 consecutive Fridays. Not only that, we went on a big hunt looking for the soundtrack when it first released...it was sold out everywhere!! When we finally got our hands on it, that's when the real obsession started. I listened to the CD every single waking moment, no exaggeration here. It became so bad that the times I
wasn't listening to it, the CD had somehow gotten programmed in my
head.
Now I'm just waiting for the DVD to come out so I can get it. Oh, and I'm itching to watch it on broadway too...although I doubt it'll ever come all the way over here.

*gutted*

if you are planning on seeing the broadway show of the phantom, it depends on how old you are. i myself saw it when i was 9 and that was too young. therefore i will be seeing it again now that i am nearly 14. the show is very good but i consider the movie to be better.

Feb 26 2005, 10:36 AM
LOL age is definitely not an issue for me...I'm 21!!
I'm really stoked today because today I got me hands on The Phantom Of The Opera soundtrack DELUXE version.

I've already got the "normal" soundtrack of course, but I just HAD to get this one as well. It's like waaaay better - has ALL of the songs, including the really short ones in between conversations, and they even include some of the dialogue in it too!! Cool as.

Feb 26 2005, 04:29 PM
Oh I love it, it is a wonderful movie! I borrowed the soundtrack and listen to it non-stop! I'm looking forward to seeing it in play form, but living in kansas does not present a good opportunity to catch a play!
MOD EDIT: Caps-lock key got stuck in your keyboard somehow?

You're not the only one mate!! I live in New Zealand...less chance of catching decent plays that is of the Phantom of the Opera standard!!

Oh Masquerade...yeah love that song too!! I especially like the bit towards the end when the ballroom dancers do that formation sequence thing at the stairs, you know, with the fans...so beautiful!!
I also love Think Of Me (still trying to hit that last note - man, I wanna learn how to sing opera!!

) and Wishing You Were Somehow Near Again (soo hauntingly ermm nice!!).
When I first bought the soundtrack I actually paused and played the entire thing so that I could write the lyrics down!! Yep...told you I was a Phantom-obsessed!!
