I can't believe how many chapters I had missed. So I just went ahead and read the whole thing all over again. I just now got done with all of it! Here are my comments. (I am re-feedbacking for the first few chapters of course).
Chapter 1: Harry's dream was so real. I felt like I was right there the whole time. I really freaked out when Voldemort appeared. I just love the idea of him not really dying, his death was quite sudden and a little disappointing in DH, not only because there wouldn't be anymore conflict, but also because the series was over. The new, nicer side of Kreacher was also refreshing. But, like Stef I can't say that I don't miss his being a little weird.
Chapter 2: All those wizards just agreeing with Harry. I thought that was hilarious. Kingsley as minister makes perfect sense of course. And Percy's back to working at the Ministry...good. I must admit though that I was sad to be reminded about Fred. The letters from Ron and Hermione, very suspicious presentation, but understandable.
Chapter 3: The letters were nice to read. Poor Harry having to remember little Hedwig (who really didn't deserve to die in the first place). It brought actual tears to my eyes. The dream again, it re-establishes the pattern in OOTP and the ominous message from Voldemort. That's what I had initially thought (or maybe hoped) would be the ending of DH. So good job there!
Chapter 4: The funeral. So sad. I liked the eulogy and the article in the Prophet was nice. Luna and Xeno sure brought some comic relief in this chapter, and you conveyed the overall mood very well. Harry and Ginny's scene in the barn was interesting; I can't say that I didn't expect it though. And not just because I had already read the chapter before!
Chapter 5: Everything about this chapter was intriguing and conveyed quite well. One thing, though, I thik that the scene with Draco and his dad could have been a little bit longer. Other than that though, this chapter had me wondering how exactly Lucius brought Crouch back. Minerva consented to the headmistress job! Yay! Sorry, just had to add that.
Chapter 6: The awkwardness between Harry and Arthur was entertaining. Harry not going back to school, wanting to be alone. It all seems so just like him. Good characterization there. What else? The scene in the forest with Crouch, so cool! The box in the lake was a nice touch...I suppose it helps reinforce the fact that Crouch is really Voldy's biggest fan!
Chapter 7: QUOTE
There was something stirring in the depths of those black pits. It glued Harry’s gaze to Crouch’s face, and as he slowly raised a finger, inches away from Harry’s forehead, he muttered something so quietly; Harry had to strain his ears to listen. ... “The Dark Lord is back,” he muttered. ... And with that, he touched Harry’s forehead and it burst with pain, searing his forehead.
I was thinking to myself when I finished reading this part, "Oooh! Is Voldy using Crouch's body?" Why else would only he be able to make Harry's scar hurt? Hmm. I am sure you will answer this question soon. I also wondered, "How could Lucius let Harry escape so easily? He must have something up his sleeve!" Can't wait to find out what it is.
Chapter 8: Not much to say here, except it was nice of Harry to let Ron know he was leaving. It's just like Harry to do things like that; telling them not to argue or try to stop him, so stubborn! I remember in HBP he didn't want Hermione and Ron to go with him. But of course they wanted to. Who wouldn't?
Chapter 9: Kreacher seems like some cook! McGonagall was characterized really well in this chappie. I like how she showed up just to try to change Harry's mind and she let him know that she was there in case he needed help.
Chapter 10: You brought some of the old Kreacher back! Disobeying orders liike that, deliberatly. And appealing to Harry's better nature by threatening to punish himself until he died! I laughed at that. Kreacher coming with him seems quite fitting, too. So many secrets! And I'm just bursting with questions.
Chapter 11: The reintroduction of some of the more rarely mentioned characters was cool. I like how Griphook was the goblin that was there. The Portkey Post Passages! What an original way to travel! Kreacher offering to make dinner; must be house-elf nature. I also, like Harry, found it hard to imagine 'Olly' as a funny guy. I loved Hammy, I could definately see him and his peculiar home in my head. And his name reminded me of Hammy the squirrel from
Over the Hedge! Can't wait to see what Harry and Kreacher will find in Albania!
So...now I'm all caught up!
Update soon!
I will try to read and leave feedback sooner next time.
