125 days or hardly more than 4 months: that's what stays between the international release of Half-Blood Prince and us, desperate fans. It was a torture to carry on our miserable and little important lives (O__O) because of the lack of news, and when they suddenly arrive, they're bad. WB has launched hardly more than 20 photos, but none of them satisfied the fans (except Luna's, perhaps). Three of them, though, show Jim Broadbent as highly-expected (at least by me) Professor Slughorn. But before we analyse them, let's read again a snippet from Half-Blood Prince book:
QUOTE(Half-Blood Prince - American Edition @ page 81)
The wandlight sparkled on his [Slughorn's] shiny pate, his prominent eyes, his enormous, silver, walruslike mustache, and the highly polished buttons on the maroon velvet jacket he was wearing over a pair of lilac silk pajamas. The top of his head barely reached Dumbledore's chin.
You just can't imagine what was my surprise when I found out he has no mustache at all!

You can look here, here and here, and you won't find any stubble.

Is it invisible to muggles? Should we buy Quibbler's spectrespecs to see it? If you have any idea, please tell me!

HAHAHA your right...no mustache! But then again...they can't get the BIG details right...how do you expect them to get the small ones? I don't know what's going on with these movies...but someone has to got to grab David Yates and violently shake him. I know it's not completely his fault but he is the DIRECTOR!!! I'm sorry you won't be getting your mustache sad.gif

I wish Slughorn had a big walrus moustache, can't the producers be bothered. He looks nothing like I imagined him, I kind of imagined him really really fat, and kind of a fat dumpy Chineese man actually with a black walrus moustache. Anyway, he looks nothing like the description. I bet David Yates just skims and scans over the descriptions, reading between the lines is not good, especcially with Jo Rowling's books. I'm really annoyed, also his attire is infurating me... the costumes in this film look really silly. I really dislike Slughorn appearence, At least Umbridge sort of represented the books description. Anyway, my idea would be, because prinicipal photography has finnished they digitally add a moustache... but the producers are so stupid they probabbly won't do it.
Bye.
peter.
Can't wait for the trailor!!!!
Can the next person who reply's on this topic say ' hi peter'. Just because, I don't know why.. just say hello.
Thanks

Hello, Peter! Haha x)

Actually, I liked David Yates, mainly for Umbridge. But what he's doing to Half-Blood Prince is so awful! An I'm not just talking about Slughorn, do you remember all the cuts he did? The Gaunts, Hepzibah and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes off the Horcrux too --'

But let's wait until November 21st to see what he does x)

Who knows? I think David Yates is off in his own little world on this movie. I absolutely hate what he has done with the movie. I'll still see it, but I won't be as excited as I was about Ootp. mad.gif

Personally I think David Yates is off his rocker!!! Honestly I hope they are spreading rumors..to get the fans all irritated and then the movie is exactly what we all want. I know I know...wishful thinking. I just can't believe he is ripping HBP apart and I can't believe JKR is letting him do it! It's like he hasn't even read the book! That should be a requirement dontcha think? Oh...I can go on and on about this....
peter
Thanks Renan Lazzarinm for saying hi peter. Anyway, yeh, David Yates is really annoying me, I think there just using the books as a stupid little guideline and doing what they want with it.... there always going on about being true to the book... well, there not, and there not even being true to the spririt of the book. Ootp was horrible, it was like a jagged, rubbish acting mess....... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif
LeoTheLionness1986
Hmm well that is odd and wrong, if JKR sees him with a mustache then he should have a mustache. Because I think the mustache is what completes him. If absolutely nothing else they should have him wear a fake mustache. However, a fake mustache would be soooo noticable.

I'm really excited that Jim Broadbent is playing Slughorn. I think he's such a great actor and I have a feeling he's going to play the part perfectly. That does stink that he's not getting his mustache. Haha. He'd look funny with one. happy.gif

I'm not trying to debate, but I have to disagree with some of you on Yates' performance as director. I think he did a much better job with OotP than the guy who did GoF. (I can't remember his name.) I mean, he changed some stuff and did some things differently than I would have liked, but he did much better than the guy who did GoF. I can't stand GoF! It stunk! That guy changed so much and left so much out.

I agree.

I don't see why they wouldn't include the mustache.
It's part of his character, and it could so easily be included.

There's really no reason why they should change that. It doesn't make sense.

I agree he should have his mustache, because it completely adds to the character. I also pictured him really round and wearing loads of ruffles. He looks like a sweet old collage professor! They should have gave him a mustache, more of a belly, and clothes that suit his character. He looks most like the Slughorn I imagined in this picture because he is not wearing the random graduation cap. If he does a super job acting it will ease the pain, but we all wish he could look like he was described in the books....
hunt330
I agree, the graduation cap throws me... Ha.

Less hair, more belly, mustache, big buttons. That's what he needs to fit my mental image of Slughorn from the book.
