I got to run the our library last night! I went in to volunteer and I ended up taking over for the librarian so she could go eat dinner! I got to check in and out people's books, make new library cards, and empty the drop box! It was so much fun! I loved it! I'm so glad I went, cause I got to run the joint!

Shawn Johnson ended up with four medals (one gold and three silvers) and Nastia Lukin got five (one gold, three silvers, and a bronze)

Chelsea apparently they found some documents that had one female Chinese diver listed at thirteen and two at fourteen. If they did strip these athletes of their medals they wouldn't just take away their individual medals, the team medal would be taken away from every athlete on their team because three athletes were the wrong age. I don't think this will happen, I don't even think there should be an age minimum, I think when the athlete is ready they should be able to compete.

Did you guys see the Womens Beach volleyball team from the US took gold and so that makes them the best Womens Beach Volleyball team ever!

I had my second day of school today and I have picture day tomorrow.

Hannah, oh. I didn't hear about the divers. I only heard about the gymnasts. Wow, if she gets her team medal taken away, that means the whole team and that means U.S.A. gets gold. Well, I think their medals should be taken away because they cheated and knew they were cheating. It's the Olympics for Pete's sake! Why would you cheat? And if she really is 14, she'll be 18 next Olympics. Nastia Luikin is 18. Whatever. I should be on the Olympic Committee.

Oh, that's ok. An honest mistake. I do it all the time. Isn't the diving amazing?!! It's so hard to believe they can dive so perfectly. I like to dive, but not off diving boards and not from as high as a three story building.

I heard it was very unlikely that any action will be taken. I mean even if it is a stupid rule, if you break it you deserve to be punished. Now if they dont get rid of that rule people might break this rule left and right especially in womens gymnastics because it is an advantage to be young and small.

Yeah, they probably won't do anything because the Chinese would probably have a fit if they take her medals away. I wish they would. I don't like cheating, especially in the Olympics. Well, we know who really deserved the medals. We rock!

Well, I'm dying to read the second book in the Twilight series. New Moon, but all the copies are out of the whole library system! No joke! I really want to read it, but I have to wait until someone returns it. Ahh!

That's the main book I'm ordering. The others are about the Amish. I'm fascinated by them and their lifestyle. I want to learn more about them.

Why is it better to be a Younger HP fan then an Older HP fan?

It is better to be a younger Harry Potter fan because we can say we have truly grown up with Harry Potter. We watched the Harry Potter characters go through their teenage years just as we are and only young fans can say that. We can relate some experiences that are going on in our lives now with that of the young Harry Potter characters. We are in school just as they are and some of us have our own versions of say McGonagal as a teacher at our school. Some of us have our own Draco Malfoys at school that we love to hate. Harry is a perfect example of an awkward teenager and he could be a good role model for anyone struggling through their teenage years. The drama you see in Harry Potter at times is always present in a teenager's life even though I am sure adults deal with it sometimes it isn't as common. The relationship problems are something almost every teenager can relate to in their life recently. Young fans are more likely to respond on an emotional level to the books and movies because we may be going through some of the same struggles as the young teenagers in the Harry Potter series. It is easier for a younger fan to truly enter the fantasy world that is Harry Potter. The stupid arguments you see among friends in Harry Potter (a good example being Hermione and Ron) is more common among teenagers and young adults, adults probably have some fights about more mature, important things. We can learn how to deal with stuff going on in our lives now by seeing how conflicts are resolved in Harry Potter. Harry Potter gives those who have problems in their childhoods (abuse, poverty, depression) hope for the future and that if they try hard enough maybe everything will turn out the way it is supposed to. It is easier for a younger fan to use Harry Potter as a resource when things aren't going their way to turn things around or at least make the right choice even if it takes longer to have the situation completely resolved.

It is better to be a Younger HP fan than an Older HP fan because we tend to get more into the book and movies. I'm not saying that the Older fans don't but I think it's easier for Younger HP fans to imagine the characters than Older HP fans. Compared to my mom any one you asked would say that because I'm a Younger HP fan I can relate to the characters more and can imagine their faces and voices better when reading. I also think that it is easier to relate to the fact of having to deal with school, bullies, and peer pressure. Older HP fans may be able to understand more and have more patience but Younger HP fans with the lack of patience in some will read more and not understanding will more-then-likely re-read the books or re-watch the movies. Plus I think that Younger HP fans have a better ability to react to the books and movies. Older HP fans in my experience don't get as emotionally into the books and/or movies. I think that Younger HP fans are less ashamed about getting emotional about book and/or movies. Being a Younger HP fan myself I would definatly say that I notice a difference in Younger and Older HP fans, Younger getting more into the books and/or movies and Older getting into them but not as much. This is why I think it is better to be a Younger HP fan than an Older HP fan.

Being a younger fan of the Harry Potter universe is better because it is easier to be open to the realm of fantasy and new experiences. When one is older, they tend to be set in their traditions and ways; how they think, what is acceptable and what is not. For a younger person the imagination is still very much impressionable and easier to access, it helps build character and personality. As well as, like some have already said, it gives us role models; like Hermione, who is smart and powerful, Neville, who shows that being nervous and afraid isn't how you always have to be - you can grow and become brave and reliable- and that everyone has at least one good talent no matter what, to Harry Potter who shows us that the struggle of good vs evil, right vs. wrong can have a happy ending - that your situation and results are what you make it as long as you strive to overcome your circumstances and the Weasleys that show us one who comes from a background of poverty does not have to stay in those conditions, we can rise above and make better for ourselves. Albert Einstein once said, "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." JK Rowling has presented the youth of today the power to be more by introducing the Wizarding World to us and giving us the ability to be open-minded about all sorts of things; from equality of all races and genders, to freedom, and the capability to control our destiny. It teaches the youth history in a fun and thrilling way by showing us the mistakes government can make and what the effects of racism and discrimination can have on society as a whole. We can also relate to the characters/situations in both aspects of the romantic, friendship, and parental kinds; the overbearing mother, the death of a parent(s), the fights between friends, the loathing of a parent(s), the loss of a mentor/friend, the strength of friendship, the ups and downs of love/relationships. Not to mention the choices of right and wrong, should I or shouldn't I; should I not tell my important people something to protect them ? Should I inform the authorities (police/teachers/parents) of questionable subjects (cursed broomsticks) and risk a friendship or let the situation be and risk their life (say a friend is doing drugs)? The Harry Potter series teaches us morals, that are things we should learn at a young age so as to gain experience on it, where as older people are already set in their views. The Younger Harry Potter fans can absorb/learn more beneficial information and values from the Harry Potter series because they are more pliable in their youth than those of the older generation of fans.
