Hello,

I hope its not being discussed here already, I recently finished the Deathly Hallows and beside so many other points i was wondering about one of the most important theme and question which was present in all books "Defence against Dark arts" After reading Half Blood Prince and spells Prince scribbled down on that book (sectumsempra) i thought we'd see some more dark art spells created by Dark Lord himself, (beside Crucio and AK) but there was none there wasnt any dark magic or spells in the last book. Although there were many deaths but there wasnt any magical fight as we read in OoTP Dumbledore vs Voldemort, or Snape vs Harry at the end of HBP. What are your thoughts on this subject?

i dont think it really is a big deal although spells created by the dark lord would have been cool to see it definetley was a dark book not as dark as OOTP or HBP but it was still an amazing book right? W00t first post!

I am not saying that it wasnt a good book, but it was too short and there was way too much left to imagination of the reader. I was hoping for a Darker book after reading last chapters of HBP but this book was really strange, the endless camping trip? Dark Lord took over the magical world but he was staying at Malfoy's? Ring, locket and diary were so dangerous to possess but there was no danger in handling Tiara and Cup? Snape didnt know what Draco had achieved! and what was the point of Snapes escape when he saw Harry was back again to fight, he could finally reveal his true motive! it was the end. I was hoping for some really dark novel, but it turned out to be a confused piece, in my opinion this was the weakest book in her series and HBP was the strongest and most matured.

PS

Battle Of Hogwarts it was lame it was suppose to be battle of wizards! not Hobbits of Shire.

Just to answer your original question, why would Voldemort need new dark spells? It's like when they were discussing the weapon in OotP, he has Avada Kedavra for killing, the Cruciatus Curse for pain, and the Imperius Curse for mind control. What more could he want? I see that you used Sectumsempra as an example, and i guess that spell's primary aim is to cause pain, but he has the Cruciatus Curse for that. Why would he want to create any more spells? Voldemort doesn't beat around the bush, he wouldn't use created hexes and jinxes and stuff in a duel, nine times out of ten he'll just go straight in with the Unforgivables, and what more can you want other than Imerio, Crucio and Avada Kedavra? For all we know he could have created countless spells, he just didn't use them, well, because he didn't really need to. Interested to know what you think.
