I don't go back to school until August 25. I'm not quite sure I'm looking forward to it~I'm taking 18 credits this semester! blink.gif I think my classes are (let's see if I remember lol): French 102, U.S. History & Culture, History of Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Law, Psych. Applied Techniques, and Psych. Measurement & Test Construction. Doesn't that sound like a fun semester? tongue.gif

Everyone says to us that school is the best days of our lives. Well for anyone who is still in school/college/university what do you think about this? Will you really look back on school as the best days of your life or not?

I think I'll certainly look back at my school days with fondness. Not so much high school but I definitely like college. And even though I have a LOT of schooling to go (I'm getting my Psych degree, then a second bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, and then my Ph.D. in Psych), I know that I'm definitely looking forward to being out of school! So I'm not sure whether I consider school the "best" days of my life. They might rank up there, but I just like learning in general, so that could be all my life, really. wink.gif

I started school this monday and I find it allright. It is my last year at high school so it's going to be stressful. This year it's yule ball and graduation-celebration that I'm looking forward too. But I'm dreading the exams eeek.gif The bad thing is that i have too figure out what I'm going to study and I have no clue blink.gif

Well I don't really know yet, but for me I would look at high school as better for me than junior high school. My junior high school was a bit nazi, many weird school rules and strict teachers. In addition I feel that people at high school are more matured(offfcourse) and that it is possible to talk about something else than what a bad hair day someone had the other day... The teacher also respect you more and let you decide more for yourself.

Yeah I start my last year of school before University this year and I have the Christmas Ball and End of Year Summer Ball which I'm looking forward too. Just need to get a great dress and stuff biggrin.gif

I'm not out of school yet but I don't think that I'll look back on these years as the best of my life. Yeah some of them were okay, but I think the only good thing about school will be the friends I made and the experiences I got with them.
I do however look forward to Uni, I think they probably will be amazing years. And if they're not then... that sucks tongue.gif
But basically no. I won't look back on school as the best years of my life. Besides, I have forever and then some to make better memories biggrin.gif

I had my first day of school today. It was pretty sweet seeing everyone but school is extremely boring of course. I think I am going to drop PE because I don't want to get all sweaty and it isn't required for people who already play sports. I think I am going to switch into accounting instead or I hope I can.

The worst part about school is that I don't have classes with two of my best friends and if I drop PE I dont have any classes with another one of my best friends. Another part about school I dont like is that my theology group includes the person in the class I hate the most but the guy I like is in my group so it kinda makes up for it.

I am in a locker war with the person with the locker below me but that is good fun. I sit next to the same guy that I am in a locker war with for my first three classes and I intend to use my permission from his girlfriend to drop books on his head.

I got last years yearbook today!

I have pictures day Friday, I need to go to the mall soon to get something to wear...

I have homework in English, Spanish, and World History I am so not surprised...

First day of school tomorrow! Ah I'm excited but kind of nervous. The summer has gone by really fast, but I'm looking forward to get back to school. I may seem like a nerd but I really do like doing the work. happy.gif I'm looking forward to art because it is in the middle of the day so i'll get some time to relax. Good luck to everyone else starting school! And for people who dont start until a couple of weeks, Im jealous tongue.gif

HJP/HJG_Truelove, Sounds like your hands are full. There were a few people I didn't care to work with in school that in later years were actually nice people so get through Theology as best you can. It sounds like a fascinating subject so try to focus on that and when you have to work with the other guy you don't like just try to be open minded. This is a time when a lot people are trying to decide who they really are when they won't have a clue until after graduation and maybe not then so in the meantime while they may not be at their best personality wise it could change. I never realized how immature I was until I married at age 25. At 33 I'm still on a path of self discovery (that after all these years surprisingly included my Confirmation in church, a blow I'm still recovering from happy.gif ) Just be yourself and not worry about "that guy". As for the other guy, keep me posted and good luck. tongue.gif
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I assume by the guy I don't like you were talking about the person I am having a locker war with, truth is he is actually a pretty good friend. We get in trouble all the time for talking to each other but we fight constantly as well but I don't dislike him. I say I hate him to people all the time but really I don't actually I say I hate lots of people all the time but usually I am joking. I can see where you get that impression though.

There are two people I hate in my class and one is the person in my theology group and a random guy in the class. I know this isn't what you meant about keeping you posted on the guy I like but he got hurt in his football game today, some kind of elbow injury.

I am going to do basketball, volleyball, track, academic decathlon. I may do speech but I really don't want to. I also might do the musical because one of the guys offered to pay me $20 if I did it, so if I decide he really will give the money to me I will go out and then quit later on the first night of practice.

Oh my God... Only one week left of summer holidays sad.gif

Last year was the first year I had the option to drop PE (because it was the start of my A level years so you only have to do the four subjects you chose) But the year before that I think I did 4 PE lessons in the whole year. I hated PE, just the whole getting sweaty and having to carry kit around with you for the whole day. Plus we did rubbish girl sports like Netball. I wish we could have done some proper sports. The only sport I liked doing in PE was Softball.

QUOTE
I also might do the musical

For the past few years I put off doing the musical because I'm not the best singer (understatement!) ha, but I'm definitely going to do it this year just because it's the last chance I'll get.

But last year they did something called 'Supernatural Shakespeare' as well as the musical for people like me who don't like to sing so I did that instead. I'm definitely going out for that again this year too, I think they're doing Greek Tragedies this year.

I'm actually sort of excited to go back to school now, for drama. I'm not excited for anything but drama. I can't wait, as soon as we get back we're put into our groups for A level pracs and we spend like 8 months on them this year. We have to do three pieces! in GCSE it was two pieces but one at Christmas and one at summer, last year (AS level) We did two pieces at the same time and this year it's going to be three pieces at the same time!! ohmy.gif
But it's going to be great, I can't wait for it. Plus there's the musical and the straight acting plays to look forward too aswell.
So yeah the only reason I'm looking forward to going back to school is to get stuck into year 13 drama haha.
The rest of my subjects... yeah we'll deal with them when we get there. I can't be bothered tongue.gif
I don't need Media, English and History to be an actress pssh. haha.
Damn that reminds me I need to read The Bell Jar for English sad.gif

That is cool that you are going to do musical, I am only gonna do it for the twenty bucks if I decide to.

We had school pictures today and I am quite sure I blinked but I was wearing a really cute shirt and my hair looked good so I don't care really.

I brought a tradition from my old school to my new school and we got to do it for the first time this year. The tradition is having betting pools on how long every new couple is going to last without even a temporary break up. I love these betting pools and it is hilarious to find out how long people think your relationship will last. We had our first new couple since school started and I am hoping to win of course.

I officially dropped PE today and I got into accounting. Three other people in my class switched out of PE on the same day as me so I wasn't alone. Unfortunately now I don't have any classes with three of my best friends but one of my friends switched with me so I still have two classes with him.

Lulu: When did you start school? And I think if I'm not mistaken in America you'd be considered a senior in highschool! Oh my! Congrats Senior I'm a junior in highschool I'm just a year behind you. I'm a senior of course NOT this year but the next one(: What is political science ? Lol I'm sorry for sounding dumb but I've always wondered how so many different sciences can exist

Sorry that I haven't replied earlier Nicky. I started school at the 12th of August. Yeah, senior year is great, though the homework is just a bit difficult. But I am sure you will enjoy it when you get there tongue.gif.
Political science is basicly where you study the society, politics and the economics of the society, how to make the country go around and work. Many of those who study this becomes politicians or adwiseors (spelling? = those who give adwise.. (as you might guess, I need to work on my written English)).

Everyone says to us that school is the best days of our lives. Well for anyone who is still in school/college/university what do you think about this? Will you really look back on school as the best days of your life or not?
Well, kind of, I enjoy myself really much, I am comfortable in school and I meet many people there, make a lot of friends. But I think the culture is a bit different. As I have understood, you cannot drink alcohol until you are 21, so you will be in college then right?. While we in Denmark are allowed to by alcohol in stores at 16, and visit bars and dischotechs at 18. So we don't relate being drunk to college or university. I also think the study culture is different. We don't have that many dorms, and everytime I watch an american movie, where they are in college, I just want to go study in America.
So, here's a question: Does the movies show something completely wrong? How is life in American colleges. Is there the teamspirit, the parties, the fun that the movies show? What is it like?
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I have so much homework this weekend and so I doubt I will be able to go to the movies with my friends tonight. I have a packet of like 30 pages for Spanish, another 30 pagepacket for some other class, a 2 page personal narrative, a biology assignment, and another random assignment for another class.

Does the movies show something completely wrong? How is life in American colleges. Is there the teamspirit, the parties, the fun that the movies show? What is it like?

Well I have no experience to back this is up but a couple of people I know say college is a little bit of partying and mostly studying. They said they slept between every other class and studied or went to a party during the night. When I go to college I am so going to class in pajama bottoms, I cant wait!

nicky potter
Ugh hello everyone lol It's saturday my first weekend from school ! woot.gif
well here is my schedule:

1st- Dance 2
2nd- Office Aide
3rd-English 3 HONORS
4th- Computer Class
5th- Spanish 2
6th-Algebra 2
7th- American History HONORS
8th- AP Enviornmental Science

-___________- and I might change my english class to AP English. Ugh but on the bright side pictures day is on Friday biggrin.gif and I start ordering my class rings next month biggrin.gif And I can't wait for football season to start! I am ready to show off school spirit<3

I can a load of homework already; School for me was delayed this year; I was suppose to start on the 18th but a Tropical Storm hit us in Florida; Good thing the waters weren't warm enough for it to be Hurrican status.. So we started on the 20th [wednesday] and already in 3 days I have ALOT of homework. I already have a quiz monday for english and plus my teacher gave us S.A.T words to define, identify parts of speech and use in a sentence, History I have to find a current event article and write about it and spanish something there lol
Math I have some worksheet there I have to do and for AP Science I have to read chapter one of my textbook and the words are small. I have no classes with my best friends and one lunch with them.

It's been a long 3 days and I am pooped; I have to go supply shopping tomorrow my teachers are giving a grade for you to have them by the beginning of the week.

Does the movies show something completely wrong? How is life in American colleges. Is there the teamspirit, the parties, the fun that the movies show? What is it like?

Well I can't speak fully about it; I am not there yet, but for the ones that are here and I have friends that are in college already, they say that it's alot of stufying but then there are some colleges that are about the party life. Those are considered the "party schools". I mean yea there are parties but then again it's your choice if you want to gey wasted and not go to class the next day. It's only partially like movies, not completely. But I think someone in college or past college can give you that answer honestly lol
HJP/HJG_TrueLove

PottyHead
nicky potter, I know what its like with homework, at the start of last year my homework load was so full. And the fact that all the homework we get is like huge essays and stuff, it's ridiculous.

I was just wondering, if you're in America is your class schedule the same for every day? Like with HJP/HJG's post above, would that timetable be the same for every day of the week, or do you do it like we do and have a different schedule on different days?

No I don't have my classes everyday. For me its like for instance Monday is Odd and then Tuesday Even then Wed. Odd like that and it would be Mon. Periods 1.3.5.7 then Tuesday 2.4.6.8 and keeps going like that everyday. NO rotation thank God<3

But back in my middle school it use to be 1.3.5 then the next day 2.4.6 and then after it would rotate 3.5.1 then 4.6.2 like that... it was annoying and hard to keep up with.. But that was in middle school.
padfootx3
I just got my schedule for my first year of high school:

1. Global History/Geography
2. Studio Art
3. English Honors
4. Spanish Honors
5. Lunch
6. Advanced Math
7. Freshman seminar(like a writing class)/P.E.
8. Bio
9. Bio lab/ Research

Pottyhead, for my school we have even and odd days. the periods with a / switch off every other day.

As for the college question, well I have a sister in college and I stayed with her over February break last year. It was so much fun and there weren't even any parties! We just had fun going into town one night, and we took this aerobics class. Also a lot of her friends were studying for an orgo test so it was interesting to see how they were all cramming the night before =P but really as far as parties go, it's all about the college life that you choose to have. You can't forget that the whole reason you are there is to go to school.

You guys must have block schedules. My classes are the same day after day after day. We have 50 minute class periods and it never changes. The only thing that changes is that we have a floating study hall. So next week on tuesday we will have a study hall during first period, the next day second period etc. The week after on tuesday (we don't have study hall on monday) we will have 5th period study hall, the next day we will have it 6th period and so on.

By the way I won the first couple betting pool because I predicted there break-up day so yes I got a bunch of money today it was sweet! Now I have my bet on when they are going to get back together lets see how that one goes.
LeoTheLionness1986
Yeah you guys Job Corps is actually a really good place to go especially if you can't afford to go to college and you are really wanting to further your education. The only thing is that some people complain about; the same complaints as in high school; the people! The classes are cool, the teachers are nice (some of them....you will always have at least one Umbridge.....LOL), the Residential Advisiors (RA's) are cool (again some of them.......again you will alwats have at least one Umbridge......LOL); its the students that sometimes just really get under your skin. But when I actually get back in there I will be first studying Business Technologies (to learn more about computers) and then I will be going to another one to get my LPN License (the next one up from a CNA; which is what I am now....LOL). Job Corps Link

Does the movies show something completely wrong? How is life in American colleges. Is there the teamspirit, the parties, the fun that the movies show? What is it like?

It basically depends on what college you go to, because there are some colleges that do have all that teamspirit (especially if they have a good cheerleading squad), the parties (but some of the parties I wouldn't advise going to because sometimes drugs end up coming into the picture), and the fun! But there are also some other colleges that focus more on learning, but they sometimes do provide dances and stuff like that and there are almost always the sports stuff.

Does the movies show something completely wrong? How is life in American colleges. Is there the teamspirit, the parties, the fun that the movies show? What is it like?

Well I'm in college so I should probably answer this one. College in America...is an interesting theory, haha. First off, there is this new theory out there that it doesn't' even work and robs people of money. Robbing people of money, almost everyone agrees with; doesn't work some do some don't. But the argue is that, especially in business, you don't need college to make it big as much as the right attitude and to a certain extent guts. But to more specifically answer the question; there is no doubt that college is partying and studying. People will say that there is not much partying going on but on the whole that's not as true as you think. If you look at an average American college you will see that there will be parties from grandeur to private and personal all the time. Mainly smaller during the week and larger on the weekends, don't be fooled there is drinking going on. However, there is also a bunch of studying to be done. Let me put it this way, the library is open all the time and so are the frats. Basically, it is completely your choice what American college is. If you want to party every night, you will find that you can. If you want to study 24/7 you will find that that is an option too.

Is there teamspirit? Absolutely, no question about it. Go to any colleges main sport and go to the biggest game of their season and you'll see what I mean. Nobody can resist those games; it's a great time that allows you to relax, enjoy some competition and feel connected to your whole school. As for the fun that is shown in movies. Yes, college is all about independence and when you look out on the quad and see tons of people doing there own thing, playing ultimate frisbee, catch, lacrosse, football, grilling out, etc. It's a great atmosphere and mainly because you can do what you want and for the first time, live without a parent overshadowing your decisions. Everything is up to you, so make it good.

I had another day of school today and nothing really exciting happened. The couple I won money for in the breakup betting pool got back together today so I lost money for that but I kinda caused them to have a fight it was excellent. He has like 30 pens and I waited and waited for him to turn up so I could ask to borrow a pen but if I waited any longer I would have been late for class. So I just took one and at the end of the day I put it back right before she came to her locker and he came a few seconds after her. I hear him go hey my pen is back and he assumed it was his girlfriend that had it all day it was hilarious, I dont know how I controlled my laughter over that one. They fought for several minutes over that one.

I go back to work (In a school) on Tuesday 2nd September. Sound like I've had a long break? Not really we didn't finish until July 18th so its just over 6 weeks. Not nearly long enough for me to feel rested!

My daughter starts secondary school on Wednesday. She's a bit nervous all of a sudden being the youngest group in school again. For those in the US, year 7 in the UK would equate to 6th grade. After this school she'll either go to college to do vocational training or 6th form (year 12) at another school. But, she has to egt through the next 5 years yet!

And I know this was quite a few posts back, but I had to respond...
QUOTE
I have a question for some of you private schoolers. Have you ever had to wear a uniform for school? If so, did you like it? And do you think uniforms are a good or bad thing

In the UK private or state, practically every school wears uniform. When I was at school, they tried to do without it. It was chaos. Too many fashionistas lording it over everyone who didn't come u to their standards. You had to be seen to have the right shoes/trainers/sneakers, the right label in your shirt, the right make of jeans. Now the majority of schools wear a school sweatshirt over a white shirt/polo shirt, with black/grey trousers/skirt and black shoes. That's proper shoes. Some schools wear a blazer and tie but that's usually the high/grammer/private schoools. Uniform is even worn in infant schools by 4 year olds.It saves arguments and wear and tear on 'normal' clothes.

For a clue...think Harry Potter without the robes!

Arrg, today I found out that in the US and the UK people quit a year earlier than here in Norway. There are a lot of students from Norway that have a year in USA or UK before they return for their final year back here in Norway, so they told me that many of their friends there were going to college or has a year off. I'm so jealous sad.gif Allthough it is a bit weird for me to think that 17-year olds are going to college. Isn't that a bit too young... I mean you're not even legal yet.

It also solves the mystery of why Emma Watson can finish High School now, even though she's exactly my age.

And my classes in my final year are: (drum rolls) smile.gif

1. Chemistry
2. physics
3. Math
4. Gym (I wish I could cut this class though)
5. Norwegian
6. Religion
7. History

I don't have the same classes everyday. For example, one day I can only have one class of chemistry, while another day gym, physics, norwegian and math dry.gif

hey everyone just thought I'd let y'all know that I heard from my Outreach Admissions counselor from Job Corps and she finnally got the waver that she was waiting for approved. Legal for what exactly??

At 17 in the UK you can get married with parental consent, you can drive, you can have s.ex if your hetrosexual. Oh you can't vote, or buy alcohol and cigarettes but who wants to do those things anyway.

Most kids stay on at school in the UK until 18 anyway like I said. The ones who leave either get work or go to college before going on to University at 18.
nicky potter
I graduate at 17; and then I turn 18 when I start college which is all in the same year biggrin.gif So technically not to young for anything. I get my drivers liscense at 17 as well. I have a friend who started early becuase she came from Cuba at 3 and they placed her in kindergarden at 4 and so she is graduating highschool at 16 and starts college at 17; I hate to say though she isn't the brightest crayon in the box blink.gif
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I am going to be finishing up my senior year of high school about 20 days before I turn eighteen.

Today we had class officer votes (pres, vp, treasurer, secretary) and unfortunately I got nominated and then I got enough votes to make me class treasurer. The first eight people to get four nominations are up for those four spots. Then we vote, and the most votes became president, second most vice president, third most treasurer, and fourth most secretary. I am so not looking forward to having to manage fund raising money and stuff. I am holding a grudge over all the people who voted for me (which is difficult considering I have no idea who voted for me).

We all also elected student council representatives today and that is not something I could just be nominated for thankfully. All three of my votes are now class representatives so that is kinda cool.

I got really close to my first infraction of the year for some stupid rule, I don't even remember what I did.
nicky potter
Ha lol I was thinking about running for class president of my class for next year until someone told me that at graduation I would have to come up with some sort of speech and yea that's pretty nerve wracking. Lol but ehh I am a board member of my club and I'm going to run for VP in the ending of the year becuase my friend is already VP and I already know she is running for President so there's not point in trying to go against her dry.gif even though I was in that club first before she was and I can't believe she is actually VP. Ughh I still get upset over that. But whatever. Lol sorry for ranting.
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I feel bad for being a class officer and I really would rather not have been elected and some people actually want this spot. I also felt bad because I know someone who I really hate voted for me (she came skipping right up to me to tell me) because she probably thought I wanted the spot. That kinda reminds me of when someone was gushing about how much I meant to them and that person to me was kinda just you know there. It is so awkward when that happens but it has happened to me twice this week.
nicky potter
Ugh I hate when that happens. You get nominated for whatever and its like uhh why? And then there are other people that want it. Why are kids like that in school? Lol so evil! And some would do that to mess you up... But if you don't want to do it, then why dont you drop out or quit? Or explain that it was a mistake?

I don't know about you lol but if anything I'd like to be VP or president even maybe secretary, but never treasuer. I'd rather not deal with money lol
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
Ha ha my school wouldn't let me but I so wish. I am just happy I am not secretary, I avoid writing at all costs. We had the same president as last year and the same secretary but my best friend took vice president (but she wanted it at least) and I got treasurer. I would prefer anything over secretary actually. Well I would prefer not to have anything to do with it at all but yeah people are evil. I dont know why people think I wanted to be elected because I gave a dirty look to everyone who nominated me lol. My friends are evil!!!
nicky potter
I don't I like taking on responsibility, atleast when I know what I am doing. It sucks being those people that have this big role and not know what to do.. I like to be president or VP. Secretary is only becuase I'm pretty organized when I want to (:

Why won't your school let you quit?

By the way have you had any quizzes already in class? I had one on Monday and I have another on friday and pictures on friday tongue.gif goshh. Thank God for us here there isn't school on Monday Sept. 1st for Labor day. Its going to be a long birthday weekend for me biggrin.gif
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
My school is stupid and my mom is like ohh put it on your resume. Oh joy! I am sure I can handle it's just that I don't want to lol.

I had a grammar test that I got the results for today and I got a 105%. I have had quizzes in Spanish and I am doing ok on the alphabet quizzes, I aced syllabication, numbers, and both of my vocab quizzes. We have an actual test tomorrow and I have already had a paper due for English.
nicky potter
Ughh I know what you mean. I had a current event due for HIstory yesterday, a reaction paper for Enviormental science due today. I had a quiz yesterday on SAT words that my english teacher gave us last week and I have another set to define, find its part of speech and then use it in a sentence due tomorrow and then quiz friday. UGH! Joy, SAT words already; School is so stressful >.<
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I forgot I have been having academic decathlon (the bane of my existence) quizzes everyday as well. I have a character journal due tomorrow and I am just like dying because the weekend seems to be so far away.

I at least have a year before SATs at least.
Norberta
What I meant with that you are not legal when you are 17, is that you're parents still controll your money and the state still consider you a kid, but when you are 18 you are suddenly an adult!

And are you talking about the student council? I'm a part of that this year.. I signed up for it last year, but now I kinda regret but at least I'm only there until christmas!

I don't I like taking on responsibility

I hate having responsibility. In my school you apply to be Prefect and then the year tutors decide from that who gets the Prefect positions. Then from that you can apply to be Head Boy/Girl.

We sorted all that out at the end of last year ready for this year, our final year. I didn't want to apply for Prefect because I hate being responsible for things. Even if it is just standing in the canteen or the halls making sure that no one's wandering around the school during their breaks.

In our school we have the Head Boy/Girl who have the highest roles. Then Deputy Head Boy/Girl and those four do all the major work. Like planning the Christmas Ball and any charity events and sorting out ways to make the school better and stuff (with like eco-schools etc). Then under them there are six (three boys, three girls) something Prefects. I forgot what they called them (it was a new thing they started in our year.. ) but they're like above the regular Prefects of which there are quite a lot.

It's a complicated thing and my brain is too tiny to comprehend it properly tongue.gif

I have a new question (haven't had a new one in a while and I'm curious to find out.)

How does the system work in your school? With like presidents and Head Boy/Girls etc. How different is it in the USA from the UK?

So I start back this coming Tuesday and I'm overly excited to get back into Drama now. I couldn't care less for my other three subjects, I just want to find out my group for the practical this year and to get started on all the productions.

Ohh and speaking of Drama I have an audition not this Friday but the next for a Drama group thing that'll run every Sunday and look great on University applications if I get in happy.gif I'm just so nervous.
BUT I do get to miss a day of school to go for the audition. It runs from like 9.15 am - 1pm.
Ha that's going to look bad missing a day of school in the first week back... ooops lol.

This is probably different for bigger US schools but at my school each class has a president, vice president, treasurer (me mad.gif), and secretary. Every class excluding the freshmen have three students on student council and freshmen have four. We also have student body president (head of student council and highest rank you can have) and student body vice president well this year we have co vice presidents.

The class officers do work for their class fund raiser and they organize things and I will have to deal with the money. The student council kinda helps out with a little bit of everything and helps run dances along with the sponsoring class, this year my class sponsors the holiday dance.

The class officers have to be nominated a certain number of times and after they have eight people with several nominations the class votes on them and the person with the most votes is pres, second most is vice pres, third most is treasurer, and fourth most is secretary.

If you want to be a student council representative you need ten student signatures and two teachers on your petition form and if you get enough signatures you are then voted on with the rest of the people in your class going for a spot. Student body president needs 25 signatures and 5 teacher signatures and if you get the most votes throughout the school you are pres and second most is vice pres (must be junior or senior).

I've been in school 3 days now. YUCK. tongue.gif LOL I think I've finally got my schedule figured out, though. And it is as follows (the classes, that is, not when I have them):

French 102 Elementary French II
English 206 Creative Writing Workshop
History 118 U.S. History and Culture
Psych. 310 Applied Techniques
Psych. 228 Measurement and Test Construction
Psych. 463 Clinical Psychology and the Law (wub.gif)

In case you couldn't guess, I'm a psychology major. wink.gif

I haven't been to Engl. 206 yet, though, because that's the class I switched to. I originally had Psych. 472 History of Psychology. The only prereq is 15 hours of Psychology beyond Psych. 101. Sounds simple, right? Well, they don't tell you that to really understand the class, you need to have had social, learning, physiological, experimental, etc...None of which I've had. And I mean, I might have had a chance if I wasn't taking 18 credits, but there is no way I could devote the time and attention to that class and have a hope of passing all my other ones (you can't take more than 18 credits or you have to petition the Dean). So I had to swap it. *sighs* That makes me feel all stupid and stuff, like I'm dropping it because I can't hack it. Oh well.

At least I ADORE Psych. 463. It's a 2 1/2 hour class because it only meets once a week, and I didn't want it to end! I took reams of notes...my classmates hardly took any...*giggles* Yep, I like it too much. happy.gif

I've just started packing my college stuff for sophomore year and my lord there's so much to remember to pack. It's weird packing for school and then packing for your room; I forgot how much you need to bring to live there. I can't wait to go back in a few days biggrin.gif

LOL! I know what you mean. I have had my stuff packed for school for a little over a year now and I am always unpacking and repacking. And I just got a call saying that I will be going to school soon and I am still wondering if I have everything that I will need. unsure.gif

Haha, yeah I hate packing for college. It's actually fun because you know what's coming up but I hate the feeling that you're forgetting something. So I take it you're in college; whereabouts?

Another day of school... Nothing much happened. I was interviewed for the school paper for what I think the teachers do in their spare time. During study hall some people from the school newspaper came in and asked to talk to me and one of the guys in my class. I am really hoping the teachers do not read this article lol I might have a detention on my hands if they do. They of course will because they will be quoted later on what they actually do and they will comment on what the students quoted said.

I also have a really hilarious, completely ridiculous story that I am telling to an extremely gullible person and I am trying to convince that person that it is true and it is working.

Tomorrow we have our first football game of the year <3, and we have a spirit day and I am going to wear one of the guys away football jerseys, and we have volleyball pictures tomorrow.

Yesterday was easily the best day of school yet the worst part was church but hey it made classes shorter.

We had a jersey/spirit day at school because of our first football game of the year. We also had a pep rally and the football players were all so excited and pumped, not so much the volleyball players though.

We had probably out best volleyball practice yet yesterday but I wasn't truly focused on volleyball, I was more like can we get to the football game! After practice one of my friends sisters brought us Runza and she drove us to the game which is what made the day so awesome. It was actually our first time playing 11 man football (sad I know) we used to play 8 man because our school is so small.

I got to the game early and it was kinda weird for me because usually all the volleyball players stand in front of the first bench around the 50 yard line in front of the band. I actually sat with the band people because I have a bunch of friends in band and by extension most of the volleyball team because a bunch of volleyball players are in band. Usually I also stand by the same people the entire time but I sat by the band people for the first half and some of my other best friends and people they work with, and the friends of people they work with.

Okay here is basically a replay of the game. If you dont want to read it all just go to the part I bolded.

We received the kick-off (oh by the way three sophomores started including the guy I like who played ot because he is like 6'3 160sh pounds and he wasn't supposed to play defense because of an arm injury but they needed him to because he is so good, the other two sophomores started at cornerback and this one played a bunch of random offensive positions (im wearing his jersey next game), and the other one started at running back and middle linebacker and they all did really well.

Ok anyway we started the game with the ball and we drove down the field but we didn't convert on 4th down. They got the ball and we forced them to a 3 and out and they punted and our returner fumbled and the other team recovered but they had to punt again and we actually returned this one. We ended up scoring with a fullback run and with the extra point we took a 7 point lead. They got the ball and they scored on a half-back run and they converted a two point conversion to take a 1 point lead 8-7.

That is how we went into the half because we fumbled three times in scoring position (each one of the fumbles was by the guy who fumbled earlier and his twin brother).

They scored again on a run by the same running back who was easily their best player. We fumbled another time (same guys) but they didn't do anything with the ball. Our qb (one of the fumblers) threw to his twin brother (the other fumbler) and his twin brother caught it backwards right in front of the end zone and he fell backwards into the endzone and we didn't convert the two point conversion so we were down by two.

They got the ball and they fumbled but one of starting defenders got hurt on this play but he still managed to recover it. We didnt do anything with the ball and we punted and they didn't do anything with it so they punted with about ten seconds left. We called a fair catch and we had the ball at mid-field with 8 seconds left. Our QB dropped back and he threw it to his twin brother who was about two steps out of the end-zone. My heart stopped when I saw the pass get deflected but his twin brother still managed to catch it. My heart stopped again when he almost lost his balance and fell out of bounds but he managed to do like a side shuffle into the endzone with two defenders trying to take him down just as time expired. So we ended up winning 19-15!!!

All the fans stormed the field and my best friends and I were all tightly linking elbows, squirming, and squealing randomly because we were so happy! I got hugs from all the sophomore football players including the guy I like and I secured a jersey for the next jersey day from one of the sophomore starters because he is a total stud lol. I probably got more hugs in one day yesterday than any other day in my life, I probably got about 30 including some guys I met at the football game that didn't go to my school but they were friends of my friends. All the sophomores that played a considerable amount (all the starters plus one more who was our second string TE plus he was on special teams I love football season <3!!!

All of the sophomore starters had at least 3 tackles and two of them had some really good runs!!!

This is my 700th post!

So I've just finished packing for college. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and getting there around noon. I'm pretty excited but here we go again with the, "what the hell did I forget?" coming into my head. Hopefully I will be able to keep on coming to VTM once in a while, so I don't get too far behind in the posts.

I am about to start highschool on thursday and i am extremly nervous. I am goin up with some of my freinds but a few of them are going to diffrent highschools. A few days ago we had our orientation, it went ok, but that just made me more nervous seeing all of the long winding hallways, my friends and i are going to have a party where we draw on our maps and try to find our classes.

YIKES

OMG. I have just realised the enormous difference between the American and Danish (Scandinavian) school systems. You say packing for college. That would meen that you go back home to your parents or something in the holidays right? Wow. I would like that. I am considering to go studying in America, I think that would be rather nice.

Sounds like some party. smile.gif
