Maybe they will. Ooo, i've just had a thought about what they could do: they could, in the 8th and final film, when everybody is hastening to get out of the castle, show little visual clips of everyone and i mean EVERYONE making their way, whether it be their common rooms or the library or even the great hall. That would be so interesting and not to mention very informing to the audience because it would be like saying 'every single house, every single part of the castle is affected by the fight/attack that's going on. I know that I would like to see the hufflepuffs being led by Professor Sprout out of their common room, especially to see inside the common room. And it would be GREAT if they did the same with all the other heads of houses: like, cut to Professor Slughorn, then to Professor Sprout, and Professor Flitwick and Professor McGonagal, as they each inform their students about the situation and tell them to 'all meet in the Great Hall'. That would make the sequence dynamic.

LOL don't feel dumb! Like what would your costume be? Or, since we are in cyber space, if you could make a virtual costume what would it be for you? Yeah thats what I'm asking. LOL! My costume would be a black shirt, black pants, my black shoes with flame shoelaces, and my black witches hat with gold spider webs and black feathers around the brim. That is actually gonna be my costume this year. But since we are in cyber space I would probably show up in a long, black, flowy velvety gown long sleeves V neck with black satin gloves with pointy and sharp diamond nails attatched to the gloves, my short hair would be jet black, my glasses would be changed to black, plastic, rectangular frames with tinted lenses and my face would be ghostly white and I would be wearing vampire dentures. I would be the deathly sexy vampire.

Okay that's what I thought you meant. I was thinking vampire also and then I remembered how I described Hermione's costume. And it's something that I would want to wear also.

Tight black, velvet leotard that goes all the way down to my feet. A long black velvet tail..long black satin gloves with semi sharpened nails that sparkle like a lot of tiny diamonds. comfortable black shoes... with a small heel. Cute black ears, a light pink nose with black whiskers painted on my face. Some subtle gray tiger like markings painted on my face...and contacts that make it look like I have cat eyes... with eyeliner applied to make my eyes sexy and seem a little slanted like a cat.

Oh my gosh everyone, a thousand apologies, I have not been in here in so long! I have no excuse, except that I did get back from Queensland the other day, and I'm a little jet-lagged. Two weeks of lying by a pool, a mango mocktail in one hand and Twilight in the other... it was bliss! Okay, now to answer the swarm of questions since my absence:

I hope they don't, surely for the purposes of keeping it accurate to the books, but I do wish Harry had visited our Common Room. If JKR really wanted to show that all the houses were equal, she would not have made this error. But gosh, wouldn't it be funny if he did go in there? A question comes to mind:

What situation, realistic or humourous, can you think of in which Harry enters the Hufflepuff Common Room?

Do you think Hufflepuff (as a whole) will have a slightly bigger role in the last two (2) movies?
I think it will in Deathly Hallows, in the Final Battle. JKR did make it clear that Hufflepuff made a real contribution to the battle, and I think that this would be a good opportunity to introduce characters in the books that haven't yet been shown in the films.

Well, being an Aussie, we don't really celebrate Halloween, but if I did... I've always wanted to be a zombie bride. You know, like the girls did in the finale of America's Next Top Model? That would be awesome. A long, lacy, slightly torn white dress, silk gloves, smeared make-up, with freaky looking eye makeup. a long veil, wild hair....not difficult, considering my hair is naturally wild. I can really relate to Hermione.

LOL Ali_Jesus_Freak, if your hair is really wild it sound like you could relate more to Belstrix Lastrange than Hermione! LOL! But a vombie bride would be really cool. Ya know I learn something new everyday...I never knew that aussie's don't celebrate Halloween. If I may ask....why is that?

I was wondering, in what house was Gilderoy Lockhart in? I sure do hope it wasn't ours. That would be disappointing.

And I was thinking. On Halloween should we have a Hufflepuff get-together veritaserum party? You know, like everyone come online and just talk and stuff ... that would be cool ... it would at least give us something to do. And we could all come as something, like give ourselves an alias or something. For instance, my forum name is monkeymushroom right? So, if i would come as for example ... a vampire ... or a monkey! (he he he), then i would mention at the top of my post or as part of my signature at the bottom.

monkeymushroom, I think that's an awesome idea! I'd be here on Halloween to chat with everyone. Not to mention how cool it would be for everyone to be responding at the same time. We would definitely make a lot more pages in this thread. I'd come as the costume I said before, a sexy black cat. Since my user name is Hermione...I think a cat would be appropriate. If we do this, we should make a time for everyone to come on and meet. That would be so cool!!

As for Gildery Lockhart.... We don't officially know what house he was in, however; my best guess would be Slytherin and here is why.

The sorting hat has said this about the Slytherin house...

"Those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends."

And that is exactly what Lockhart did.

Gryffindor is for the brave..and Lockhart was certainly NOT that. He was planning to flee instead of save Ginny.

Hufflepuff, are loyal, true, hard working and just. And well...he's certainly none of those things. He stole other wizards accomplishments.

And Ravenclaw is for the exceptionally intelligent. Anyone could perform a Confundus Charm...our Hermione used this charm in HBP when she confunded Cormac McLaggen at the Quidditch try-outs and Harry used it in DH on the guards in Gringotts bank and they are both in Gryffindor. Lockhart wasn't smart enough to realize that Ron's wand was damaged. I mean, it was damaged ALL year! So...I don't think Ravenclaw is likely either.

Slytherin's are usually cruel and do what they have to do to get their way. They only look after themselves and don't care who they walk over in the process. Not ALL Slytherins of course...but most. And to me...this is classic Gildery Lockhart.

I think in order to decide on a time, maybe everyone should say when they are free on Halloween. So we can coordinate our party around the time when most of us Hufflepuffs (And other house members)are available.

As for me, I'm free all day and night! I'm not doing anything at all for Halloween. We still have some time to pull this together!

But maybe - i was just thinking this - it should be an all-day thing? Some of us, i bet, are from different parts of the world, and for one person it will be daytime and for the other it will be night time. I'm not sure about this, so correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyone may come and join the party at any time of the day, how about that? And you must come as something! People from other houses (Gryffindor,Slytherin and Ravenclaw) are welcome to come along if and when they so wish. The more the merryer! That way the conversations should last all day ... hopefully.

I think that if I could change my costume and have one on VTM, I'd go all out and become a fairy princess. Totally cliche, I know, but here's an example of the outfit that I would wear:

And then I just wanted to comment on how I really dislike that there is not one stand-out Hufflepuff at the end. It seems like all of the glory goes to Gryffindor students. I mean, Neville killed Nagini and the Trio obviously got hailed as heros for the secretive work they did on finding and destroying Horcruxes. Harry was well..the "chosen one" . The way we see the Hufflepuffs are always in the background supporting the others. They are gifted magically enough but we don't see anything exceptional coming from Hufflepuff House. I guess this comment goes along with my second question. Who would be the stand out Hufflepuff at the end?

nevillesgirl, we have had the same discussion in here about Hufflepuffs being in the background and not being recognized. But even though there wasn't ONE stand out, I think that shows us as a WHOLE. We were the second largest group that stayed behind to help fight Voldy in the final battle at Hogwarts. We Hufflepuffs:

If Cedric lived and won the tournament I think he would have been the Hufflepuff that stood out the most. Our house would have had more involvement and would have been recognized and brought to the fore ground. As it is, Cedric died and that brought with it a certain amount of glory to Hufflepuff. It was sad that his life was taken but it showed how Hufflepuffs have no fear and stand up for what's right. Instead of fleeing to the cup he stayed with Harry and paid the ultimate price.

There are a few influential Hufflepuff's such as: Cedric Diggory, Professor Sprout and Nymphadora Tonks. To name a few

As far as who did the most for the greater good against Voldy...I'd say Tonks!!!! She was very active in the Order of the Phoenix. A great Auror and gave everything she had to help defeat Voldy. Which ended with her own life. Leaving a son behind without his parents. Paying the ultimate sacrifice times 2.

Tonks was also funny and a comfort to have around when the times were hard. She was very talented and smart. She did everything that was asked of her and more. She helped protect the trio, especially Harry!

OK, first i have an answer to this question:

I think the reason why not many Hufflepuff's, who were at hogwarts the same time as Harry was, stood out from the crowd in the fight against Voldemort is because we are pretty much a passive bunch of optimists. We are unafraid of toil, which basically means that we will offer our help when the need arises, and usually this means that you have to actually ask us first before we agree to do anything. That's what i'm like, sometimes. I think the difference between us and Gryffindor is that Gryffindor do tend to be the first to actually do something about a situation, whereas we probably don't know how to act because to us fighting isn't the only way to win a battle. You see Hufflepuffs tend to think like this: oh dear! Something terrible is happening - what should we do first? - should we fight? - should we escape? - should we be thinking logically?

You see, some of us can never tell what to do in these situations, but for some reason Gryffindors tend to have a knack for such problem solving. Do you remember how it took Diggory longer than Harry to work out the clue to the egg, and to figure out how to act against the dragon in the first task? You see we think that there's more than one way to sleigh a dragon or treat a question that we can't choose which act to follow sometimes.
So ... if you tell us we need to fight, then fight it is! We just do what we're told really.
And we're very moralistic people so that's why alot of Hufflepuff's helped out during the battle at hogwarts.

In my opinion, it wasn't just one hufflepuff that stood out, it was all of us, because we all chose to fight alongside Hogwarts, so really we love teamwork!


Anyway, back to the Halloween Party.
I was thinking that the important question is: what sort of things are we allowed to talk about at this party, because didn't it say in the veritaserum rules that we should not hold everyday conversations like 'what we're doing tomorrow' or 'what happened to us that day'?
So should we make sure we're talking about the stuff we usually talk about, like answering relevent questions and stuff like that?

I think if we talked about Halloween as it pertains to the wizarding world and Hogwarts would be fun. That's not everyday conversation. Talk about Halloween meals, how we decorate our common room, What the teachers are dressed as...etc...Maybe the misconceptions about Halloween through the eyes of the wizarding world. I don't know...those are some suggestions.

I believe everyone who stayed behind to help fight Voldy all did a wonderful job. I don't think there was anyone one person/house that did more than the other. And to be quite honest, Harry couldn't have done anything alone! No one can do anything alone...EVER!!


The all day Huuflepuff Halloween Party is a wonderful idea! I will be here sometime if I am not at school by then.

Well here I am at the inter-house Halloween party! I am the first one here it appears...For starters "Hello to all" I'm from Slytherin House...I feel kinds weird being here *looks around for other members of own house*....Well for starters I am dressed as a Vampire Countess...I'm wearing a long black and red dress, with my hair neatly styled and complete with a red jeweled crown of sorts in my hair...My face is very pale in comparison to my ruby red lips....I'm nervously waiting in the corner to see who else I know here..*chews on lip* Anyway I also come bearing gifts to the nice Hufflepuffs who were kind enough to invite us all, and I also brought a cake, a white cake with green frosting and silver writing bearing the Slytherin name of course... *Places party gifts on table*...Now I stand and wait for others to arrive,,,,,

Oh, dear me, i've made a mistake. I may have accidently forgotten to tell the other houses that the party is on halloween. As you have already seen, a Slytherin came here thinking it was the party, but not to worry i did send them an owl saying 'sorry, but the party is not until next week'. Whoops Silly me.

This house points stuff has just confirmed that i definitely belong in this house, because i am a non-conformist, and due to that sometimes i don't get awarded in the same way as plenty of others do - because these days it's cool to do the same things as everyone else (omg, how boring is that?)

Our common room is actually located in the basements near the kitchens. Since we are badgers, and they live underground, it's only fitting that our house be in a basement.

Speaking of HP related things...have you guys seen the new HBP prince trailer on the main page of VTM? Holy Crow!! I got goose bumps watching it!!!!! I can't wait for it to come out next year. Watching that has made me go on an HP movie marathon. I think I will start tomorrow and watch 1 through 5!! I've done this before and took forever to get through them all, but it was a lot of fun!!!!

I have a question though....since we can't talk about Halloween in here, does that mean we can't have a halloween party for everyone? I know we were planning to keep the topic on Halloween in the HP world. But are we allowed now?

LOL! I don't think the Mod was upset because we were talking about Halloween I mean come one it is right around the darn corner. I think what they were really upset about is us talking about our personal lives in our own Common Room. But I seriously thought thats what a common room was for, but obviously I am wrong!!!

OMG...I am going Trick or Treating with my cousins and aunt. I figure why not I mean this is going to be my last Halloween for almost 2 years. And I am going to dress up.

I am going to wear a black 3 quarter length sleeve shirt! And over that I am going to wear a strapless colored striped shirt! It has orange, red, green, blue, yellow and black on it. LOL! And to keep warm I am going to wear a pair of spandex pants. And over those I am going to wear a not so tight pair of pants. And over that I will wear a pair of blue jeans. And a pair dark pink with light pink stripe fuzzy socks with my black shoes with one shoe having a black and flame shoelace and one shoes having a black with different color stars shoelace. And I will also be wearing a black witches hat with gold spider webs on it with black feather around the brim. LOL! And I am going to be carrying my pastel pink and purple and blue pillow case!! I think it sounds awesome! I used pillow cases when I was little too!!!! Glad to know my family wasn't weird. You can only fit so much in a Halloween bag before it breaks. Every year I had my pillow case practically full!!!

Okay Puff's I've got some news. I don't mean to go off topic and it will be fast, I promise!!

I just wanted to inform everyone that the Halloween party in our common room is canceled. I spoke to Triad...and instead I'm putting it in the Lounge! So be sure to stop okay. I'm going to the other houses to let them know since monkeymushroom, had invited everyone here.

When you say you're "putting it in the lounge" do you mean you're relocating the Halloween Party. If so, then that's good, it means that we can still have the party.

OMG you guys!! We got 30 points for the Halloween party...see I told you, Us Hufflepuff's are very unique and caring!!! I think Helga Hufflepuff would have been very proud of us! It sounds like something she would do herself!

Hey you guys I just wanted to come in here and say good bye because I got a FINAL WARNING for speaking my mind which is what I thought you were supposed to do. But obviously very wrong. And also I thought you were able to get to know other people around the world that are interested in Harry Potter which would consist of talking about personal lives, but again obviously I was very wrong. As many members know we have threads in the Quidditch Pitch for people to get to know each other in, plus many topics in the Just Get Away From Life forum. There is no need to turn yet another thread into a 'Getting to know you' thread. As I stated before, we have changed what a Common Room is and given a lot of leeway discussion wise, if you can't stay on the broad topic expect to get poked. We have Rules on this Site and they aren't terribly difficult to follow

**Oh my, that was fun. I know I got a couple of answers wrong...but I am not in Hufflepuff so I didn't expect to get many correct. I am sorry I missed the Halloween Party. This quiz would have been a perfect party game!

ive always loved hufflepuff and i do really want to know what it looks like in real life.
well mabey when the hogwarts attraction opens up in 2009 or 2010 we will be able to see!

I would like to know what it looks like in real life too. Maybe they will show a glimpse in HBP. I also can't wait for the HP world to open at Universal. It's so exciting!!

i think it would look round with a circular fireplace in the center have lots of books and you probably would have to find a badger in a room to get into the common room. Squishy armchairs, maybe even underground. i like to think of it as a combination of alot of other aspects from the other common rooms mixed together!

Sounds interesting! Here's what we know...

Our common room is located in the basements and there are tunnels in and out. The doorways are rounded. Basically it's like a Badger's den. Since they dig rounded tunnels and live underground.

I agree with the big squishy armchairs, and yellow and black decorations and a warming fireplace to make our dormitories very homey.

Wow. I was totally unaware of the whole circular doorway thing, until you just said it. That makes a lot of sense actually.
Yep, the armchairs and sofas would be squishy (i think they should be a dark, muddy, brown in colour with little bits of yellow around the edges) - so whenever we sit down we sink comfortably into them.
I like the idea of our living space being a sort of bungalow, what with the tunnels being level with the floor, and not to mention, that way, no one will trip down any stairs - because there aren't any!

Changing the subject - I think we really need to do something about our house points, we're lagging behind a bit, and i'm getting pretty fed up with it. Lets try and earn ourselves some points, ok? What can we do guys? Lets have some ideas.

I was reading GoF earlier and i got to the bit where it said that Cedric Diggory was probably the only Hufflepuff who could win anything. We need to be more like him i think and get more competetive. Lets show all the other houses, and the rest of Veretaserum, what we're really made of! Lets win something for once!

yea we really do need more house points to win and not let slytherin win.[size=3]

The way our house is really makes sense since we are "Badgers". We were almost eagles...that would have been a bit boring I think...where would our dormitories have been? In the highest point of the castle? I love where we are!! And we are by the kitchens..yum yum! LOL
