It certainly isn't rigged, but I can see why you would be cheesed off by the lack of points going Hufflepuffs way.
You really do need to start looking towards beefing up your points by making some great posts in other threads. That's what most members do without thinking about it really. It's just a coincidence that Gryffindor have been having a good run at things lately!
Good luck and keep those posts coming!

I'm sure that the House Cup is NOT rigged. Please don't think that I'm saying that it is. However, I can't help but feel that there are
many more Gryffindors than members of the other Houses. Because of this, I think that they have a greater advantage. I could be wrong, but that's how I feel.
Since we can choose our House or take the test, I think that many are choosing to be placed in Gryffindor. After all, Harry was a Gryffindor. Who wouldn't want to be in Gryffidor?! I know I was tempted to ask to be placed in Gryffindor, but instead, I decided to take the test and be sorted. This way I figured that I would be placed in the
right House. IMO,
everyone should take the test to determine how they are to be sorted. But, that's just me.
I have written a couple of posts recently that I thought were good and thought provoking, one was in the Autism thread, but I guess I'm the ONLY one that thought they were good posts.

So, I've decided just to continue posting when I want, where I want and hope that the post is considered worthy of points. I really would like to see Hufflepuff get points on a regular basis.
p.s. I'm curious ~ how do the Mods determine the
number of points a post receives?

Sorry about that, it's just very curious how we don't seem to be doing very well. It's almost like our posts are not good enough. Could we, like, have a competition or something that will determine the points - it's as if everyone knows the secret to a good post except us ... that's how i feel, anyway.

Ok, i think the atmosphere in the Hufflepuff common room has begun to get a little bit soggy - no thanks to me and my whining, i will admit - so i think it's time for a little upbeat question ... here goes:
If you had to fly to somewhere important, by what means of travel would that be? (for example, a Hippogriff?)
Oh, and just for fun, let's make up our own scenario, like, where would we be flying to and why ... and, of course, why choose that particular means of travel?

Well if it something fancy (like prom, a wedding, etc.) I would definately want to show off by ridding a hippogriff. But if it was just something I needed to get to in a hurry my very own Nimbus 2001 would do the trick.
Even though it has not been calculated....here is an update on the House Cup!

It's up to the member of staff giving the points. If I think something is profound, thought provoking and stimulating then I could give it 50 points if I wanted to. Someone may earn 5 points for posing a good question and the next person could get 10, it all depends. Usually if the post has generated a lot of replies, that will gain more points because it's given people something to think about.

I'm so sorry!! I haven't been on in a while! I see my fellow Hufflepuff's are a bit upset here! I have long ago dismissed the house cup. If someone likes my posts and gives a few points than great! But I've stopped trying to impress others and just write what I think and what I feel. I stay true to myself and I give ME points for that!

I would travel by Hippogriff or unicorn, just for the fact that I absolutely LOVE horses, and they are as close as you can get to one.
As for where I would go...I'd like to see the president of the US. There are many things I would like to sit down and discuss with him! Secondly I'd stop by Bush's ranch and tell him off! LOL Then I think I would make an appearance at the set of HP and Twilight, just so I can try and get into the movies. I would top all my adventures off with visiting my family. I miss my mom and the rest of my family. Nothing can top spending time with them. That would be a perfect adventure!

PS..If there's time I'd throw in something educational, like seeing the pyramids or the colosseum, maybe the ston henge and shaking the Popes' hand.

In answer to my own question:
Sometimes when i'm walking around town, and i need to get somewhere that's on the other side of where i am, i feel like it would be so convenient to apparate with just the click of the fingers or a quick of a step ... if only, huh ... but i'm thinking it would be even better if i could fly on a broomstick, particularly a really fast one like the Firebolt, because then i can escape to the open air and explore lots of different places, places that i wouldn't be able to get to easily by foot - that would be so cool, and AWESOME!
Like Harry, i enjoy the feeling of having the wind in my hair ... it's amazing, that feeling. Also compared with flying on a plane it's much less risky because at least i can control myself; also a broomstick would naturally stay up, as opposed to the plane, which is forced into the air mechanically.

Actually this is more of a question than anything. Does anyone know if their is a Premier showing in the United States for Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince? I have not had any luck in locating any such information. I know there is a premier going on in London, Just hoping that maybe there might be a premier in the States as well because I would like to go. This may not even be the right room to be asking this in, but I have got to start somewhere.

They're so cool and would bring something new and different rather than a bland old SUV. And, they don't add pollution to the air.

I would try to go see areas that are remote, but beautiful, things that are hard to get to by boats, planes, or cars.
If I just had to go somewhere close though, I would use my Nimbus 2001, like

I would love to go to Hogwarts so that I can see the various Houses (dorms), the Room of Requirement, the Great Hall, the Library, the Womping Willow, Hagrid's hut, the lake on the grounds, etc. I would be sure to have the latest, top of the line broomstick so that I can fly around the Hogwarts grounds.

Hey Hufflepuffs! Wow, so much has been going on since I was last here! I know it's a little late, but welcome to Hufflepuff Dumbledore's Widow - great to have you here! There are too many questions to address, so I'll just pick a few:

I would adore to fly using a broomstick: just the sensation would be enough! Anything involving flying: Hippogriff, Thestral (How freaky would that be, not being able to see them!), even the flying carriage used by Beauxbatons! I would take the same sort of scenic route that Harry did in PoA, over lakes and mountains, and the countyside of England and Scotland.
How hilarious would it be to arrive at your wedding by flying carriage: girls fantasise about pumpkin-style coaches from Cinderella, but that would be quite a thump as you landed to the ground!!

If you could take the place of any Hufflepuff who would it be and why?I'd love to swap places with Nymphadora Tonks, if only for a day! She's a bit clumsy, but I think that's what makes her so adorable. I love the fact that she can change the color of her usual bubble gum colored hair at will. As a Metamorphmagus she can also assume many different appearances, a skill that comes in real handy as an Auror.
She's also married to the
meek and mild (you know what they say, "
still waters run deep"

) Remus Lupin whom I think is so sweet and cute! Except when he's turned into a werewolf.
Here is a photo of Natalia Tena who portrays Tonks in the films:

I would have to say Tonks also. She's just hilarious and clumsy. I think it would be a blast to play around with different images of myself. It's like playing dress up in a real way. She just seems to bring life with her wherever she goes.
I also enjoyed watching Natalia Tena show us around the sets on the OoTP DVD extras. As a person I think Natalia IS Tonks. She's so vivacious, fin loving and sweet. I can't think of a better Hufflepuff to be than Nymphadora Tonks!

Out of the books and the movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House?
I think she would be alittle disappointed that Hufflepuff House was not reuly noticed until the Goblet of Fire and then the Hufflepuff that did get noticed died. However, I also think she would be very proud of how well we have been and will be doing the rest of the way.

Hey Tonkzzz, glad to see you're back. We missed you girl!!
Out of the books and the movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House?
I think she would be proud, absolutely. I'm sure she would of liked Hufflepuff house to be a bit more recognized, but then again Helga Hufflepuff wasn't into the spotlight. With Credric Diggory showing a fine example of how Hufflepuffs are in the tournament and Hufflepuff house being the second largest group to stay behind and fight Voldemort, I think Helga Hufflepuff would be very proud and pleased with her pupils.
Not to mention the Hufflepuffs that have gone on to do great things like : Tonks, Professor Sprout, and Cedric Diggory, to name a few that we know of.

Well in the books yes but I don't like the way they are played in the movies for some reason... like in the Chamber of Secrets they were really shown as snobs in my opinion... I didn't like that
Luv ya

Where are all the Hufflepuff's lately? I miss you guys...come back! LOL
Jilly bean, I totally agree with you on your point. Hufflepuff's were also snobby in Goblet of Fire. The way they laughed at Harry and wore those stupid pins. I thought Hufflepuffs would have been nicer and understanding. I know they were a bit upset because Harry was taking spotlight from Cedric, I just didn't think they would be portrayed as rude.
No offense to Slytherins, but Hufflepuffs acted like Slytherins in my opinion. But for the most part...since Hufflepuff hasn't really played much of a role in the movies, I think Helga Hufflepuff would be extremely pleased with her pupils in the books, and given what they have done with the movies, I think she would be proud some moments and disgusted at others.

Hey everyone! I'm new to Veritaserum and recently was sorted into Hufflepuff. Yay!
I didn't know Tonks was a Hufflepuff. That's so cool! Tonks is awesome! I like most of the Hufflepuffs in the book. Zacharias Smith was very rude, but every barrel has its bad apples, I suppose. I really like Ernie Macmillan. I know he's a bit pompous, but that doesn't irritate me. In fact, I find it quite humorous and I know that Ernie has a good heart. There is the time in "Chamber of Secrets" where he was very mean-spirited and awful to Harry, but I feel he saw the error of his ways. He apoligized, and since then he has been a loyal friend. Cedric Diggory was a great person, and I'm very honored to be in his house. Though we don't see a whole lot of the Hufflepuffs, most of them seem very nice.
On the whole, I think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of her students. As Hermione17 said, it's important to note that they were the second largeset group to stay behind and fight Voldermort. Helga Hufflepuff may be a little disappointed with the way some of her students treated Harry in "Goblet of Fire." Sometimes, the Hufflepuffs seem to feel bad about the stereotype that Hufflepuff is the "leftover house," or the house with the least glory, and that's why many of them acted so negatively when Harry took some of the glory away from Cedric. However, they shouldn't feel this way. Hufflepuff House's traits don't often give them the spotlight, but that doesn't mean they are of any less importance. Hufflepuffs are known for their loyalty, honesty, kindness, and work ethic. Though they may not always bring us fame or worldly glory, I think we strive for some of the best traits in Hogwarts.

Very well said! There are a lot of great things about Hufflepuff if one takes the time to see it. Even though we are set to the side, we are still very important...especially when it counts. I see Hufflepuff's as being well rounded individuals. A bit of all the houses put together.

Harmony to Hufflepuff House!! Hope you enjoy it here.
Out of the books and movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House? In my opinion, i think that she would be very proud of the Hufflepuff House. They are so many students who have done (or gone on to) great things in their lives and i think that she would be proud to know that they have carried on a good name for this house. Hufflepuffs like Tonks and Cedric have represented their house greatly by becoming an auror and participating in a dangerous tournament. I do agree with
Jilly Bean's opinion on how i don't always like how the movies portrayed some of the Hufflepuffs because it seemed like they were kind of snobby however, i think that overall Helga would be very pleased with her students and what they've accomplished.
Oh and by the way i agree with you
Hermione17, things have been a bit slow here, hopefully me or one of you guys might be able to think of a good question to post soon. (Although i'm not always the greatest with coming up with questions)

I think the HUfflepuff common room has got to be the most comfy one at Hogwardts, Lots of yellow with black accents to be sure with chairs sofas and pillows that you can sink right into I would love to imagine a room with a great view of the outdoors, and a hug skylight to watch the stars at night. There would be lots of plants around and always a snack to eat.
I am glad we have the Fat Friar as our ghost. Since I am a sister in a religious community I feel great to have him. He is kind and generous and loyal, a great Hufflepuff.

I must agree I think that Neville would have been a good Hufflepuff. As someone, maybe Dumbledore said that we may sort too soon. I know the end works out for Neville in Griffindor, but he has a lot of Hufflepuff traits, a very loyal person with much courage and character. In my description of a comfy common room there would have been plants, kinds that might grow where it is darker, however I'd sure love a room with a view to the upper regions of nature and a skylight sort of dug into to side wall...(no your right I sure am no architect!) Anyway with Neville on board, we would have lots of interesting green stuff..

Hello everyone! I've been a member of Veritaserum for a while, but I've just been recently sorted into Hufflepuff!
Out of the books and movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House?I think she would have been very proud of her Hufflepuffs. I agree with
MagicTrioFan11. There have been MANY wonderful witches and wizards (Cedric and Tonks to name a few) who have done great things! And I also agree with
Jilly Bean's opinion on how I don't always like how the movies portrayed some of the Hufflepuffs. They did seem much more snobbish than any Hufflepuff would be. Usually, I try to just ignore those irratating little facts that occur during the movies.
I also have a question about the Hufflepuff Common Room. After looking through the thread and reading your posts about how it looks, I'm a little confused. Is the entire common room underground, or are the dormitories only underground? Or am I just plain wrong? Because I've always thought that the Hufflepuff Commmon Room would have had a large window on the western wall so that during the evenings you could watch the sun set.
I guess I've read so many posts I've confused myself

Hi There xxkrackenslayerxx, I have the same question about the Hufflepuff house.. I was rather letting my imagination fly and thinking too we need a window to veew the woods, I even wanted a skylight for night stars!
I really think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of us, we are a kind generous and loving people, and can be just as intelligent and brave as anyone.. Cerdric is certainly a great example. I know I am quiet, like some others but there used to be a saying "still minds run deep"

If it were soley judging on Rob's performance as the only Hufflepuff to come close to bringing the house substantial glory in centuries then it would fail miserably.
Only kidding
Seriously, I think she would be proud of what she saw although there isn't really that much to see for the simple reason that Hufflepuff doesn't get much exposure in hte films or at least far less than it does in the books. But saying that, Hufflepuffs have never shown tthemselves to be false in character and that alone is pride-inducing.

I just have to share something funny I did...and it's about HP so I think it's safe to tell in here. I saw the preview for HBP on TV like a week ago. It did make me smile. Your hubby sounds a lot like mine. Once I start talking about the Harry Potter books and movies, he just rolls his eyes! When I go off into one of my rants (based on the
ships) he just lets me vent and then he'll tease me and ask, "Now, tell me how you

How disappointed are you (if at all) that Hufflepuff wasn't mentioned in this movie at all?I know Hufflepuff's are rarely mentioned and we are all used to this. But I'm just wondering your views on this. With Yates creating his own movie and disregarding the book at times, I would have thought he would of had some meaningless excuse to add a Hufflepuff or two...somewhere.

To be honest I wasnt really that dissapointed at all that Hufflepuff wasnt mentioned at all but I will agree with Hermione17 that yates could have put in a Hufflepuff or two and mentioned them.
Out of the books and movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House?
I would have to say that she would most likely be very proud with the many successful people who have came from Hufflepuff. She probably been most proud when Cedric was choosen to be a triwizard champion manly because the Hufflepuff never really gets any of the spotlight.

How disappointed are you (if at all) that Hufflepuff wasn't mentioned in this movie at all?
I was pretty sad that we Hufflepuff were not mentioned at all in this movie. It was just another thing missing from the movie and I shall be adding it to my list. I understand, while I am still proud to be in this house, that we may not be all that important to the movies but some recognition would be nice.

WeaslyGirl, You are more than welcome to answer the question posted in here. You can even go back and bring up old question, make your own for everyone to answer (including yourself) and just talk about Hufflepuff period. As long as it's Hufflepuff and Harry Potter related...then you're welcome to talk about it.
Just be careful with one liners...they aren't allowed okay

How disappointed are you (if at all) that Hufflepuff wasn't mentioned in this movie at all?At first I hadn't really noticed the absence of Hufflepuffs, but now that you mention it I am a little disappointed about that. It would be nice if they had mentioned or said something about our house, or even showed a student from Hufflepuff. Hmm...that is kind of strange, and sad.

the last question we were discussing was about the new Harry Potter movie. the question was:
How disappointed are you (if at all) that Hufflepuff wasn't mentioned in this movie at all?andd, the question before that was:
Out of the books and movies to date, do you think Helga Hufflepuff would be proud of the Hufflepuff House?fcdxsza123, welcome to the
Hufflepuff common room! feel free to come anytime and discuss with us all things Hufflepuff!

Well now that this was brought up and i think about it you guys are right! Hufflepuff was in no way mentioned. that sucks! but then again you've got to be a bit more logical as well, JKR never really brought up hufflepuff in any way. just in the 4th book for cedrics case and that's it. So i cant currently remember but was hufflepuff mentioned in the 6th book? if not then i can see why not in the movie and if it was, what was being mentioned? if nothing serious or important one has to understand that in these harry potter movies nothing is ever included -__- everything is ALWAYS going to be cut out and seeing as we're considered a lesser house i guess we make that cut /: as harsh as it may sound </3 Sorry to have sounded to negative o.O

Welcome back Nicky! I love the second question - would Helga Hufflepuff be proud of the present house. I have to say I think she most definitely would. Sure Huffs get ribbed a lot and the sorting hat often makes us sound like "left-overs" but look at some of the most recent Hufflepuffs - Tonks, Hannah Abbott-Longbottom, Ernie Mc. They are true role models of loyalty, compassion and fighting the just cause. Many Huffs fight (and die) nobly in the final battle. I would imagine she would be very pleased indeed with what her "left-overs" (used sarcasticly here) have accomplished, and how much they contributed to the downfall of Voldy. Great question!
