Chapter One-The Sorting

The train whizzed round the corner and Albus saw the last of his father's blurred wave. Then he turned around, sitting next to Rose.
"So, which house do you think you'll be in, Albus?" asked Rose, still not facing him,
"Not Slytherin," replied Albus, immediately,
"You seem pretty sure about that, the sorting hat puts you in the house it's meant to put you in, which ones right for you,"
"That's what you think," and Rose sat there puzzled and was about to reply when the tray lady came
"Anything from the tray, dears?" said the tray lady,
"Yes, I'll have a chocolate frog please," said Albus, as he leant over Rose to collect it. He tore it open and looked at the card.
"This one has my dad on it, look," said Albus showing Rose the card.
"Oh yeah..." so they sat in silent until they arrived at the school.
"First years... First years, over hear please," It was the familiar voice of Hagrid. Albus and Rose ran over to him.
"Hi, Hagrid," chanted the pair,
"Hello, you two, you wanna get in then?"
"Sure," said Albus as he climbed into the boat. Rose followed Albus into the boat, but Hagrid waited until every first year was on a boat. Then Albus's and Rose's face both dropped as they saw Scorpius walking towards the boat that they were in.
"Ok, then little Scorpius get in, and we'll set off," Hagrid pushed the side of the boat and got in. They boat drifted out toward the middle of the lake, in line with all 24 other boats. Albus was staring into the lake, thinking about what had Harry had said back the station. "You can pick your house, that's what I did" Albus tried to worry about somehting else, like if he was going to get bullied a lot at school. At that moment, he felt a prickling on ear and a big splash in the water behind him. He felt his ear and looked at his hand. Blood. He turned around and saw Scorpius in the water screaming.
"Help! Help! I fell in!"
"Shut up you big whiner!" bellowed Hagrid as he helped him out of the water. "what were you doing anyway?" said Hagrid, angry. Rose was confused.
"I...I was trying to pull a prank on Albus but...but I fell in by accident," Scorpius was shivering hard.
"Well what were you doing to him?"
"I was tr...trying to put selfing eating gum on his ear," Hagrid was red with rage.
"Are you OK, Albus?" tryin to keep his voice steady,
"Yeah- just a cut," he replied, trying to look at his right ear. None of them said anything until they got there,
"Move it!" said Hagrid, pushing Scorpius out of the boat, "I'll be keeping an eye on you," Scorpius scowled and walked off.

Albus and Rose stood nevously outside the great hall, waiting to be sorted with all the other first years. The doors opened and the deputy head, Proffesor Micmika, stood there looking like she'd seen a ghost (although she did just see St. Nicolas glide past.)
"The sorting has been cancelled," she announced, everyone gasped,
"What happened, professor?" shouted a random, brave, voice,
"All students will sit in the great hall quietly, as the staff sort out this slight delay. So, they filtered in and sat down.
Half an hour later, professeor Micmika came in.
"Let the sorting commence!" There was a cheer as the sorting hat came in. It was placed on the desk and looked battered.
"William Rafre," Micmika said, a young boy with dark brown hair, short, walked up to the front, slowly as possible.
"Mmm, I see your very clever, Ravenclaw!" shrieked the hat. William ran over to the Ravenclaw table as they clapped him into his seat. Everyone was silent again.
"Scorpius Malfoy," droaned Micmika, and he ran to his seat ready to be sorted,
"A Malfoy, eh? Well, I don't think your ready to be a Slytherin, for now, Ravenclaw!"
"What?" chanted Rose and Albus. There was no clapping when Scorpius moved to his seat. Everyones faces were flabbergasted. Scorpius looked like he about to cry. What was he going to tell his father? Even professer Micmika looked surprised.
"Bella Graham," said Micmika. A girl rose from her seat with shoulder length hair, jet black and was really small.
"I would say, Hufflepuff!" shouted the hat. She pranced to the Hufflpuff and they gave a little round of applause.
"Rose Weasley," said Micmika. She got up and skipped to the front.
"Another Weasley, but your also brainy, you're a hard one...Trust me you'll do better in Ravenclaw then Gryffindor, Ravenclaw!"
Rose actualy did cry a little as she was congragulated by her fellow Ravenclaws.
"Hi, it's Albus isn't it?" asked a boy with black close cropped hair and a few centimeters taller than Albus, "Im Jaskaran and I was hoping I could talk to you..you know, about the usual things, I'm a bit lonely,"
"Yeah, sure," replied Albus with an enlighted face, "My cousin's just been sorted into Ravenclaw, she should be in Gryffindor, every single relative of hers is in Gryffindor, so I'm starting to get bad feelings to," whispered Albus, (because Micmika said you couldn't talk loud)
"Aww, unlucky-"
"Connor Ritely!" screamed proffesor Micmika and a small, fair haired, handsome, blonde boy walked onto the stage ready for anything, so it seemed...
"Father's a gringotts worker, you're very confident and courageous, Gryffindor!" and Conner was glad to be the first Grryfindor for the first years, and Gryffindor was extremely glad to have their first Gryffindor.
"Well, he was in Gryffindor, " said Jaskaran. Albus was starting to get his hopes up again. Three more Ravenclaws and a Slytherin went by. There had only been one person per house except Ravenclaw. Everyone thought that whatever happened to the hat, it must of rattled it's non-existant brains.
"Why is everyone in Ravenclaw?" asked Albus,
"Dunno, probably because it's not-"
"Albus Potter!" said Micmika, and Albus looked at Jaskaran and then went up the soring hat was placed upon his head,
"A potter. Father's an auror, Harry Potter, killer of Voldemort, (everyone was no longer scared to use his name) you might be very brave but..." this is when Albus thought Please be Gryffindor, please be Gryffindor, anything but Slytherin! please!
"You're just like your father, pleading to be in a particular house," Albus cought James's eye, and James winked.
"Ok if you really want to, Gryffindor!" Albus was shocked with happiness as a massive cheer rose up from the Gryffindor table. He had beaten the sorting. He ran toward his brother and sat next to him, although he felt bad felt bad for Rose, who was crying fully now.
"Hey! Albus come sit over here," it was Conner. Albus walked and sat next to him. "so how does it feel to be a Gryffindor?"
"Relieving," said Albus,
"Yeah, me too," So Albus had made one, maybe two friends already.
"I just hope my other friend gets in this house too,"
Five more ravenclaws a hufflepuff and a Slytherin had came,
"Jaskaran Futur," said Micmika , lazily, starting to get bored. The sorting hat was placed on him and it seemed to find him hard to be put in a house.
"You're a tough one, but I think it should be Gryffindor!" Jaskaran was looking for Albus.
"Jaskaran! Over here!" he walked to where Albus was sitting and sat down on the other side of him.
"Call me Jas," said Jas, "who's this?"
"Oh, this is Conner, remember?"
"Oh, yeah,"
"Pleased to meet you," said Conner with a smile, holding out his hand. Jas took it gladly.
The final ten minutes went with about two or three students sorted into the houses that wasn't Ravenclaw. The Ravenclaw table had to be extended.
Albus hasn't been given an owl yet but the school has been allowing knew creatures in. The latest one has been a fox. Conner has that, but Jas has a mouse. Nearly everyone has a fox. The feast had begun and Albus was scoffing his face whereas Rose wasn't touching her food because she was so angry. Everyone ate their food in silence, except for a triplet who were whispering between eachother. Bill, Jill and Phil. After a while the main course disappears and reappears with plates of treacle tarts. Albus loved treacle tarts. Rose still hadn't touched anything. Neither had Scorpius. They were both still shocked.
"Now the soring is complete, the feast has concluded and bed is approaching," said Proffesor Platestone, the headmaster.

Chapter 2-Shocks all around

A prefect from Gryffindor, Jac, was told to lead the new Gryffindor students to their common rooms. Jas, Albus and Conner walked to their common room, talking about the lessons they were having tomorrow.
"Apparently divination is a weird and boring subject, my father told me," said Albus, on their way up the spiral staircase.
"Ooooooh, it's Potty and his friends!" shouted Peeves as he flew past, cackling.
"Ignore him" said Albus, "my dad has told me all about him,"
"Has your dad told you everything about here?" asked Conner,
"Pretty much, yeah." They didn't speak until they were in the common room,
"Right then, the boys dormitary is to the left of me and the girls is to the right, if you get lost, find me," So everyone split up and went to the dormataries, exhausted.
Albus was on a bunk with Jas underneath him and Conner was on a single bed next to Jas. Albus was lying awake on his back, thinking about the following day. He might get a letter from his mother and father with a new owl. Then he thought of the lessons after breakfast. Double divination then Defence Against the Dark Arts. After lunch, potions and charms. Then transfiguration. Albus was excited about his first lessons but soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
The next morning Albus awoke at 7:15 ready for breakfast. He was wondering if Rose had made any friends yet. He knew that Scorpius was in Ravenclaw to but Rose wouldn't dare make friends with him. Albus walked to the great hall with Jas because Conner had lost his fox. They sat down where they sat last night and the food appeared on their plates.
"I think it should be time you know what teachers are teaching you, for starters, this is Proffesor Rohan and he'll be teaching you charms," Proffesor Rohan stood up, he had black hair and brown skin, he also wore glasses. There was a round of applause and he sat down again,
"This is Proffesor Baladwin, she'll be teaching you Arithmacy," there was another lot of clapping,
"This is Proffesor Longbottom, he'll be teaching you Herbology," there was a bigger clap then all the other teachers as he sat down again. He was a friend of Harry Potter that helped kill Voldemort,
"This is Prof - Begin the feast!" Platestone realised the time and the owls were already coming in. Albus looked up, hopefully. Then he looked over at James, he had recieved a package that looked like a broomstick. Albus leaned over to get a closer look, then something hard landed on his head. He turned around, rubbing it. It was a small square package and Albus was excited but he decided not to open it at the table. He ripped open the letter and saw the owl waiting beside him.

Dear Albus,

How is Hogwarts so far? I have sent you this owl, his name is Kabir. You can keep him if you want. You might of seen that your brother has a new broomstick, it is actually the newest one. The Golden Arrow 500. It is currently the fastest in the world. I hope you're not to angry because first years aren't allowed to play quidditch. Anyway, I was hoping to know which house you're in (like I don't know anyway.) Back here at home, actually we have some good news and some bad news. I'll tell you the bad first. Lily has broken her little finger becasue your mother had been careless to shut it on it. The good new is that your aunt is pregnent. She only realised a couple of hours ago. We are all very excited (except for Lily.)When you come home for the christmas holidays we can all celebrate together. Kabir is a very special owl because of the mark on his left wing. It's and arrow. It is a special gift and a very fast owl and was a extremely difficult to get. It's kind of like the broom I gave James. You better look after it (not like I did with mine.) I've got to go to work in about an hour. Something's gone wrong in the Order. Your mother gives her love. See you at christmas xxx

P.S. The package is skiving snackboxes, they're snacks that you use to make yourself do things to get you out of class. Your mother didn't want you to have them but I managed to talk her into it. Your uncles invented them. I also gave these toJames on his first year. Use them well.

Your Father,
Mr Harry Potter.

Albus read this again and was excited about geting a new cousin, the snackboxes, his new owl. He couldn't wait to send a letter back. He look at his owl. It was a black and white snowy owl with a white arrow on it's left wing. He looked over at Rose. She was still reading her's with a flabbergasted face. He couldn't see James because there was a crowd around him, wanting to see the new broomstick. Then the front doors opened and Conner burst in, puffing, with a fox in his arms. Everyone went silent and stared at him, then they went back to talking again. Conner walked over to them and sat down.
"Rough morning, huh," said Albus,
"Yeah," panted Conner,
"Have some pumpkin juice," said Jas,
"Sure," and he drank it down in one gulp. Albus turned to finish his breakfast, but it wasn't there. He was confused. Then Kabir was pecking the last few crumbs of his toast. He didn't kno what to do with him at the moment, so he kept him on his shoulder. He glanced over at Rose once more and then a stroke of terror ran accross his face. Rose was talking and giggling with Scorpius. He couldn't be late for his first lesson of the school. He had to go to it; double divination. He walked out and then bumped into Hagrid,
"Hello fellas,"
"Hi, Hagrid," said Albus,
"I didn't see you last night at my hut," Albus blinked. Then remembered.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Hagrid, I forgot,"
"Ah well, next time, how about tomorrow night?
"Sure,"
"I had a good chat with Rose, she's in Ravenclaw! Can you believe it!"
"Yeah I no!"
"You'd better be getting to lessons then," said Hagrid,
"See ya, Hagrid," he waved as he wallked past. They walked to their first divination lesson and was only half a minute late. The three of them sat around a table together and waited for the teacher, Proffesor Deadball, to arrive. Albus had borrowed one of James's spare cages to put Kabir in. Harry was right, he did go extremely fast. The fastest Albus had timed was fifty seven and a half miles per hour.

Chapter 3-The Three Bullies

Proffesor Deadball walked in,
"Right class, we are going to try and read eachother's future today," she said. She handed out a crystal ball to everybody and a mug. They were told to put dirt in it and read what shape it makes. Albus read Jas's. It had a galleons sign,
"Looks like you're going to be a millionare," said Albus,
"And you're going to be very miserable over the next few days," Jas showed Albus and it had a sad face. For the rest of the lesson it was boring, except for the part when a Ravenclaw smashed a crystal ball. Nobody knows if it was deliberate. Now he had to go to Defence Against the Dark Arts, Proffesor Gellery. Apparently his real surename is Arty, but he didn't like that,
"Disarming, this year," he sounded like a teacher that Harry had told Albus about, Snape,
"get into pairs and practice whilst I eat something," he droaned, Jas went with Albus and Conner went with a random guy from Ravenclaw. Albus saw Rose and Scorpius together. He felt anger well up inside him. How could she do this?
"Expelliarmus!" shouted Jas and it took Albus wand out of his hand and it flew to Proffesor Gellery and went through his sandwich. Then he gave Albus the evils.
"Err...Sorry, sir..." muttered Albus and Gellery went back to his sandwich. It was Albus's turn,
"Expelliarmus!" he shrieked and the wand flew to his left and then suddenly made a sharp turn and poked Albus in the eye.
"Hey!..." he turned around and saw a slight smirk on Rose's eye, then it faded immediately,
"Oh, sorry Al," she said, quickly. Albus thought she had changed sides. The end of the lesson came quickly and it was the time for the next,
"Uhhh...potions next, Proffesor Dumskul," complained Jaskaran, miserably,
"Lets go then," said Conner in a sarcastic, cheery voice. They were on their way to the dungeons.
"Please take a seat," groaned Dumskul. Conner Albus and Jas sat together, get into threes and try to produce an antidote for a potion. Albus glanced at Rose again, she was with Scorpius and another girl. Albus thought she looked like cavewomen. He set to work with Conner and Jas and there potion was coming together well. Professor Dumskul was going to test these antidotes on cornish pixies. Soon enough everyone was done.
"We will test these antidotes tomorrow on cornish pixies, good day." He had said his final words.
"Charms, now," said Conner, he always seemed to be the person that is always in lessons on time, sorting everyone out.
"OK, OK, wait up..." puffed Jas. The two of them caught up with Conner and they strolled to charms.
"Lets get started!" announced Professor Rohan. He had dark skin and a very deep voice.
"We will practice the "augementi," charm, I will start a small paper fire and you will try your hardest to ut it out with your wands, don't worry, the fire won't spread, I'll put it out quicker then Krum," Viktor Krum had retired from playing quidditch a few years ago and Rohan had always been a supporter of him.
"Augementi!" said Albus. A few spits came from it but he had failed,
"Oh, well done miss Weasley!" he squeaked, in unuasally high voice. Rose's fire had completely disappeared and the paper was covered in water. She smirked at Albus. Everyone carried on until the end of the lesson, only Rose had managed it.
"Oh well," sighed Rohan,"you'll get the hang of it sooner or later," and everyone left.
It was the end of the first day and Albus rushed ahead of Conner and Jas to write back to his father. He saw Rose with her two friends and he met James on his way to the common room.
"So, how was your first day? Luckily you're in Gryffindor, there is always a chance you could be moved to Slytherin," said James, with his final efforts to wind him up, but Albus knows he won't be moved to Slytherin. Five years ago Professor Platestone decided that students could move house because the sorting hat sometimes got it wrong. This year the soring hat definately made a mistae. The staff are deciding whether to keep the hat or not.
"Yeah, it was great," said Albus, "I'm going to write to dad now," and he sat down with a quill and some parchment.

Dear Dad,

You're right, I was put in Gryffindor, but only becasue of you. You told me that you could choose otherwise I would've been put in Ravenclaw like Rose and Scorpius. I still am shocked that they were put in that house. I think the sorting hat must have broken or something. Rose and Scorpius have become friends! I don't want to know how uncle Ron is going to sa about that. Who knows, he might move country. Anyway, thanks for the owl! It's amazing. It can o almost sixty one miles per hour. I also can't wait until I get a new cousin. In charms we had to put out paper fires. Obviously Rose did it with one try. I had do everything twice atleast in every subject. Defence Against the Dark Arts is fun, except for the part when Rose poked my eye with my own wand. James hasn't wound me up-yet and I've made one or two friends. I forgot to go to Hagrid's so I'm going to his tomorrow night. Thanks for the snackboxes, I haven't tried one yet but it'll be the ultimate prank to pull on Scorpius. I have to study now.
See you in the holiday.
Albus

He folded it and gave it to Kabir then he flew of like a bolt of lightening. He got his charms book out and started reading. He was determined to put out fire. He wanted Charms to be his best subject.
He studied until he fell asleep. Then at around 12:45, he was awoken by Jas.
"Al, Al! wake up! It's your brother! He's hurt!"
