I edited the poll for you coz there was only the one option there when I just looked and everyone's names were in the one line...don't know if there was a glitch in the system there or what....
Anywho, I voted Snape....I definitely think there was something going on there....

I voted Remus. Simply given the fact that the entire speech he gave Harry in the movie wasn't in the book yet JK allowed it to be used in the movies and the tone he used says that "once upon a time I was in love with her.."

I voted for Remus because I bealive Lily was there for him at the time he needed someone at most. Ofcoures James loved her to.

I voted for voldemort because when he went to kill Harry as a baby, why didn't he want to kill Lily? He told her to move out of the way, remember, even though isn't she a mudblood? Yet I also think that Severus loved her too.

i voted james(duh!). i can see why some people would vote lupin, becuase of how they put that huge sean-long speech he gave in the 3rd movie, but that really blows a single line mention of something in the book. i am upset that jo allowed that. she should have stood up for her manuscript more(see my thoughts on this
here). i dont know where the whole snape+lily ship came from, it is total crazy in my opinion.

Well I think it is undeniable that James loved Lily, especially after witnessing Severus's ‘worst memory’, were James was so obviously attracted to lily, even though he didn’t convey this in exactly the best way possible

, but they did eventually get married and have Harry so there must have been something there.
Volde, I think is incapable of love, or was at least incapable at the time of his fourth ominous attack on the Potter's. So I really doubt he was ever seriously in love with Lily.
And as a Remus/Sirius Shipper I couldn't possibly go for either of them.

As for Lucius and Hagrid, I can't see anything throughout the course of the books which would suggest that there was anything between themselves and Lily, plus Lucius has that whole pure-blood superiority complex thing, so I highly doubt that he ever had a thing for Lily.

I think he was loved her...

i voted james, because he obviously loved her,he married her! i dont think james should be in this poll, because the question is really who else loved lilly as well as james and we all know he loved her.

I voted Remus... The way he tells Harry about her... Made me cry lol. Well anyway, she was always there for him when nobody else was, so it's obvious that he fell in love with her, I think...

I firmly belive James was the only person to love Lily. Others may have liked her as a friend but I don't think anything more than that.

I think they all loved lilly, and the mauraders were like a secret "we love lilly" fan club, and wouldnt let severus join, so he hated them (but still loved lilly) we wont go into the details of voldy being like 40ish years older...

i believe snape loved lily. just from the way he acts and talks to harry. and then the whole part of snapes worst memory its like he is jelous of james and at some point snape would have loved lily until he found out about her being a "mudblood"

Yeah, like the Muggle-Borned hating Voldemort could love Lily

.
But I think it was just James. Sirius and Remus... no, I think not. Snape... no. Just James

I think Severus may have had something for her. I could sense tension between them when Lily was defending him, in the fifth book..
Maybe that's just me..Other than him, I think it could've been Remus because he sounded like he liked her or something..
I was laughing so hard when I read Voldemort and Hagrid! That's just..kind of creepy, hehe.

I think others may have loved her, but I think that all along, James was the only one she loved back. And in the case of Remus, I think she just supported him as a good friend, but nothing more...and Snape, well, seeing how she treated him in that scene in OOTP, I don't think so...course, she treated James in a similar way, but that's because he was playing pranks and stuff...I do hope we find out more about Lily's past though! She's so interesting and mysterious in many ways.

I voted James. Hate to break it to you guys, but I'm a huge Lily/James fan. Also, they got married and had the cutest kid ever. XD I really think they loved each other. Sure, there are James's friends, like Sirius and Remus, but I think it was just a friendly love.

EXACTLY. Me too. I've voted for Severus and I won't change my mind. Calling somebody a Mudblood is very Slytherinish and it doesn't mean that Snape hated her. I called names people I love many times in my life and they forgave me.

Owh Bubo, we think exactly the same about all the things in which Severus could be involved
I totally go for Snape, same reason as mentioned before in this thread. I guess Remus liked Lily, but I doubt if he was in love with her.
Lucius or Voldy in love with Lily, ~lmao~ no way

Hello, mate! *shakes hands with Krjeltje*
I suppose that many people notice only the Mudblood-thing. Look at how Draco behaves towards Pansy in HBP. Does it look like a deep love?
I think that love in Slytherin is meant as a kind of a weakness, no matter a girl from which house you are in love with. These crushes on Slytherin girls are treated nicer, of course, but crushes on Mudbloods? Don't expect Snape to yell "I love Lily" to everybody!

Definately if anyone else apart from James it has to be Snape. There is a lot of suggestion about Snape loving Lily, but i also think that Hagrid, lUpin and Sirius all probably loved her.

Although much hints to that Severus and Lilly had a thing for each other, it is all speculation and I for one am againsst it. I think that the only one who truly loved Lily was James. Snape may have been fond of her because of her potion skills, but he did not love her in the way that James did.

SNIVELLY = SEV 'N' LILY

I am a firm believer Sev and Lil were an item at one point - probably in secret. Then she ran off with James. And poor Remus never stood a chance. I think the three of them were in love with Lily.

You go Flutters, spread the words

I hate it we can only vote for one person, James, Sev and Remus were all three in love with her I guess

Remus was just to shy to admit that or he kept his feelings for himself because of James. The young Lily was a heartbreaker indeed!

I think that Severus was in love with Lily Evans only at school, but after she married James, he hated her from there on out. But I think that was the thing that Snape told Dumbledore to let him off, but I think that it was just a lie to save his own behind.

I believe Severus Snape loved Lily even though James Potter already did. Like in the memory when Snape called Lilly a 'mudblood' I think he only did that to stick up for his own blood. And that he 'did' love Lilly Evans.

As a firm believer in the Snape/Narcissa ship I have to say she loved James only. If it turns out she and Snape had been in love I probably will shout out loud, rip the book apart or whatever. No way!

It really depends on how you define love, doesn't it? Is lust or obssession love? I don't think so, but I do wonder if Snape "wanted" Lily in that way, probably mostly because James was interested in her.
Can love be strictly platonic? Absolutely, so I would also say that Remus Lupin loved Lily. As JKR has stated, he never competed with James for her, but I would conjecture that he functioned as Harry to her Hermione in a sense, with James more like Ron in that he was her romantic interest but not her male best friend.
*pretty in punk*
Jun 21 2006, 01:34 AM
I think that Remus loved Lily at one time. I also agree that it was a platonic relationship. I do think that Snape liked Lily, but it wasn't that serious. When James and Lily got together though, I do believe that he truly loved her.

I voted James, because in Snape's Worst Memory, you could see how infatuated he was with Lily. The way he ruffled his hair, and defended her when Snape called her mud-blood...and that's another point, there is no way Snape loved Lily, because if did, he would have spent a little more care with the words he chose to speak to Lily with. Lupin possibly could have loved Lily as well, but there was something about the way Sirius told Harry in the fire in Umbridges office about how James changed a bit, into a more calm and less show-off way, to change Lily's opinion. He clearly cared a lot about this girl, I thought, when I read OOTP.

I voted Severus.
It would give him a better reason for hating Harry (because Harry is half James) and protecting him (because Harry is half Lily).
Good thing Harry's nose is not abnormally big, otherwise I would have been doubting

*shakes head* i don't believ that the mayjority think that sev loved her! well i don't think so! i voted that remus loved her too (quote) "your mother was there at a time when no one else was..." I voted for Snape because he deffinately has/had a thing for her but Remus and Sirius, in my opinion, also liked her because of Remus' speach in PoA movie and I just think that Sirius and Lily are great together. James also liked her but he was out-there with his feelings, the others weren't as much.

I think it is a combination. of course james loved her. you can tell in book five and of course with them getting married. james has always loved lily and harry seeing that in the pensieve showed that he had definite feelings for her and cared about her even though he was a bit rude. then there is also the speculation that snape loved her. this could be true in a way because of the memory in the pensieve. he could have cared for her and perhaps loved her at one point but any feelings he had then i think are long gone. i am not so sure that lily ever loved snape but that's not the point here. i believe defintely james of course and perhaps snape. the other maruaders though could have cared for lily as well but i never gave a thought that they might love her. at this point i think james and until i hear otherwise of snape loving lily i will continue to think it was james.

I voted Snape. He definitely seems like a slimy character, but they have little things in common: they despise James (haha, just kidding!) and they excel at potions. There are many little clues that would make it seem like he liked her. Look differently at "Snape's Worst Memory" and why it's his worst memory.

Lucius loved Lily...
because he was raised to be so evil that it turns your stomach
and...
she was so good that you could almost taste it!

Snape and James tied? I am not surprised.
i think thats why snape follwed potter around, because he knew he would be close to lily. or maybe it was just like the malfoy/hermione shippers think, a bridge between good and evil?[color=#3333FF]

Eh? I thought Snape too.. because he was always with Lily, and Lily stuck up for Snape until she betrayed him then thats why James and him fought and Snape and Harry fight.

There should be a "James and Snape" option

At least that is what I think the answer is. James obviously loved her, while Severus.. Well, I'm really starting to become a huge supporter of Snape-loved-Lily theory, seems to fit the story

It`s obvious that James loved she ... because they got married and had a child ... and I think Remus loved Lily too , but as a friend.
