I have been thinking who will win the fan site award for jkrowing.com? Its been long time now since we had a new one, There has to be a new one soon. So who do you think will get it?!?!
Darren
Well you've got Veritaserum (which we all know is the best) and The Leaky Cauldron (which is better known by companies).

Hopefully Veritaserum will get the credit it deserves soon.

You have to remember that other language sites may be put up for the award too.

I love Veritaseum. I've tried other Harry Potter communities before I came here, but this one pretty much floats my boat. On a side note: The forums have a nice pace. It isn't too hard to keep up; it is impossible to do so on bigger boards.

Hmm, I always though Veritaseum was already on Rowling's Fan Site section...hmm.

Oliver (D69)
[B]These are the Three we have left that are worth winning it...

Veritaserum.. Has a forum. Chat room. Pictures. Moive info. Book info. Comps. Nice staff. and loads more

TLC. New forum. News. EVIL staff they banned me from the forums sad.gif. I didnt even do it.

Thesnitch. I dont know about this because its more about the films than the books.

Good luck to every site i think smile.gif laugh.gif

Which site do I think deserves the next fan site award? That's a pretty easy question for someone who spends a rather sizable quantity of her free time on Veritaserum! I wouldn't mind my own site getting some recognition, either, in the -- um -- very distant future (i.e., when anybody has even heard of it!). tongue.gif While I feel confident that Veritaserum will earn the credit it deserves eventually (such a nice, small-ish community with a good staff compared to many larger sites that make you feel totally alienated), I'm not sure that it'll be the next one to get recognized... I feel like J.K. Rowling's going to pick a non-English site or a fanfiction site next... but it is just impossible that this site will be neglected forever! wink.gif
Louise
Mmm...I'm not sure that any fanfic site is ever going to get any recognition unfortunately because in order to do so, JKR will have to admit that she's been there and as soon as she does that, she's going to be hit with a million law suits from very sad people with nothing better to do than to claim she's nicked their ideas. Which is a great pity really because FictionAlley really deserves some respect. Fanfiction.net is good, but they don't check the stories before they get posted so sometimes, you come across utter trash that is so full of spelling and grammatical errors that they are completely unreadable.

The Restricted section also really deserves some kudos, but she's *defintely* not going to admit to having been there... tongue.gif

I may be biased, but I think VTM definitely deserves recognition though - I agree with Anthony about it being a far more open, accessible and friendly community than a lot of other sites out there, but I reckon TLC is probably going to get it next, purely because JKR singled them as warning their visitors about that e-book scam. I expect she'll want to acknowledge that.

Thanks for the nice comments about the staff though...you guys don't think us mods are *too* evil then... tongue.gif I'm going to point this thread out to Matthew though, he'll really appreciate what y'all said! biggrin.gif
Oliver (D69)
I dont think you are hard on us one bit.If you think about it if you didnt close topics that shouldnt be started this place would be hell to chat on. I think Matthew is a nice person from what i have read. I seen on a "site of the month" I think it was called "spotlight" thing on a not very big site. They were asking thinks about veritaserum and the thing i liked was that Matthew did it for the other site. I could just seeing me asking Emerson from mugglenet to do that for my site he would just laugh im sure. If i ever find the link i wil show you. smile.gif im sorry if that dont make sence but its hard to tell you what i ment.

But one thing i can say it that *WELL DONE WITH EVERYTHING. I Love the video downloads here. Thanks for all that media you have show me smile.gif. LOl can someone tell me were i can see the simpsons with jkrowling in. I have never seen it And want to sooo much.

I'll bet TLC will get it next although I really think Veritaserum is a better site. There's just too many people on the bigger sites that no one really pays attention to you, which is too bad. TLC wil probably get it next though because JK has mentioned it on other places on her site and she seems to go for the big sites first (MN, HPANA, etc.) One of these days Veritaserum will be reconigzed. biggrin.gif

I believe that Veritaserum should be recognised.
I love the idea that this is a family site (though it can push the limits at times. wink.gif )
To me this site is easy to navigate, is informative, and has a wonderful welcoming community.
(Not forgetting excellent moderators, creators and participants)

Oh yes..a P.S....

Definately cannot forget the bonus of Alan Rickman and Slytherin supporters. tongue.gif

hmm, Veritaserum is a good site, but any new site that you go to it takes a while to fit in. Unless you already know people there.

Like for me, I was a member of an HP forums board for about two years until it closed. Its hard letting go enough to join another board. I think its been closed for about a year now and I have just started joining other boards.

But I agree that Veritaserum should get some credit.

Here you go JD, The Leaky Cauldron

If you go to the main page, and you stumble across 'TLC' in the news, it's the same site as I mentioned up there.
Ginevra_hena
I have always wondered why Veritaserum is not up there? I have been to almost all major sites and Mugglenet and TLC too, ofcourse, but I always end up coming back to VTM. It's really good, with its latest newses, and it's even up at Wikipedia. So, I guess I would like VTM to be up at Jo's site
jbyrd08
I had wondered the exact same thing the other day while on her site. I can't imagine why vtm is up there. The other sites are good but I find I like this one most among the others. I really do hope she adds it, the site is truly wonderful and more people should be aware of it. I didn't know this site was on wikipedia though, haha. wikipedia is pretty rad.

Okay, I've visited a few different Harry Potter forums, mostly the bigger ones, and this place is my opinion the best looking and the most well laid out, it's easy to find things and the parchmen layout and night/day changes are great, the staff and members are friendly and there never seems to be any "bickering" going on, and considering it usually seems to have over 1,000 "Muggles Online" at any given time, it must be very popular.

So I was kinda surprised that VTM hasn't been given any recognition by JK Rowling, on her official website she has things like "website of the month" and the history of the award, as well as casually mentioning some sites in her blogs and whatnot.

Maybe she just doesn't know about it, but doesn't anyone else think it's a taaad unfair that this place isn't given the recognition it deserves? I think we need to get the word out there to Ms. Rowling - Make VTM the website of the month. smile.gif.
