The thing is you have to be from the uk and be her age. look like what she is ment to. and cant act very well. If you can do that you should sent in a tape to WB. You should also post a picture if you think you look like her. So we can all have a look .

I think its to hard to picture people who should play the parts. Thats why i leave it up to WB. I dont like the pick for krum i must say.

Well, I'd send the tape anyway, if you can talk like a Brit, hey, maybe you could get it ::shurgs:: nothing's impossiable.

I don't know who would be good as her part - I saw on a fansite once that some fan said that Dakota Fanning would be good but I think she is too young for the part (I think she is 11 or 12 right now)

She IS? Well, I think she'd be good for the part too, but that will be when she's a older. And it might be a couple of years away. OotP would have finished filming by then!

well i was going to try out for the role of Luna but im not from the UK so i guess i have no chance. but im so much like her! i zone ourt and i laugh at everything and i sometime shave a day-dreamy voice. but i dont have blonde hair which is very improtant to the story. oh well. by the way, Dakota Faning is like 13, shes just really short, i think.

punxpotter, i think Dakota Fanning will be a great Luna Lovegood, too bad she's not a british...Hmm, dun't really mind about the age, because professional make up is always there to work things out, plus, she's an excelltent child actress.

Casting for OotP only begins Fall 2005. Keep checking out the official HP website for any further notices regarding auditions. Hope that was of help!!

I'm confused WhiteAngel and Luna Wanabe, are you one of the same? it's enough to make the brain numb. If you are, I think that you look quite a lot like Luna, if your a Brit and can act, I say go for it, if you don't get it, it'll be a really good experience in general. also, i wouldn't worry too much about being 16, in American teen movies they make 30 year olds look 16, methinks a couple of years won't be much of a problem. Sean Biggarstaff was 19 playing a 16/17 year old.

_luna_1: Since your new, you should take a peek at our forum rules, which I've linked you to in my sig. They will not cast an already well-known celebrity for the role of Luna. With the cuts that will have to be made from the lengthy book, the part is not likely to have much significance as a whole. Small parts are usually played by youngsters from acting schools or agencies. It is also unlikely that open auditions will be taking place, but still, I highly doubt any celebrity will be handed the role. For a few reasons, they will stick to unknowns.

I am still wondering about who is going to play Luna in the 5th movie, or if she is even going to be shown in the movie... My guess is that they will not have open auditions *sigh* unless they can't find someone they want...

I, like many other people, would really love to play Luna too I think I look like her, I can act, I guess good, I'm really good at drama... but I'm not from the UK. I can make myself have an accent though... I've been practising But I really really doubt I would ever get her part!

I've been on google, researching Luna Lovegood, and sooo many people want to audition for her part! I can't even believe it! People from all over the world too: Spain, Canada, Usa, Australia, New Zeland.. It's Crazy! But as I said before, I really doubt they are going to hold auditions. I bet that they are going to go around agentsy's, and try and find the perfect- Luna Lovegood. On a very rare occasion they will hold auditions (Cho Chang, and Parvati/Padma twins)

Anyway, I will still keep dreaming in my fantasy world, and never give up hope... maybe one day I can act in a movie of my own, for that is my biggest dream

I really do hate to be the barer of bad news for all you Lovegood fans (I'm one too), but I was surfing the web today to see about the casting of the new characters for the 5th movie, and I ran across an article that said that they would not be holding a casting call for the character 'Luna Lovegood'. Apparenting they plan to simply pick a girl out without the add of a casting call, that is, if they decide to even put her in the movie at all. They are thinking about taking her out all together.

Oh, dear! But there must be a Luna- we need her! Who's going to amuse the heck out of us? If Luna wouldn't provide comic relief in an otherwise very dark movie, I don't know who would! Now I'm depressed. I think I'm going to start a save-the-Luna petition. Anyone in?

I'm in! Luna was my comic relief as well. I was very put out when I first read the article. But honestly, I don't see how they are going to do it without her. What, are they just going to cut out the whole Quibber interview with Rita Skeeter? I believe that was a pretty important part of the book, well, to me it was anyway. But hey, if you want to start a petition Ginevra, I'm totally with you!

I have a friend studing cinema and he had some doubts, perhaps the same as you did! The only advice is GO! you risk nothing and you may get lucky...

It's well know that the casting process is realy hard for non UK to play a Brit. part. The other big obstacle is that most of the cast are alredy there so unless some one goes out, all part will be taken upto (almost) book seven..

I really hope they will include Luna in the films- if not OotP, then one of the later ones! And what could possibly be better than a VTM pal getting the part? Very best of luck goes to everyone here trying out for the part!

i think it would be criminal not to cast luna as she plays a very big part at the end of the book, as she goes to the ministry and helps harry with the thestrals, she realy is a quite important part. as for the casting, well i seriously think they should do open auditions or atleast do auditions for people who send in letters and tapes, i have sent 3 letters the the casting office in leavesden, but apprerently they havent started casting for ootp so you letters just get ignored! unfair! but im gona send 2 a week untill i get a reply, the more you send the more chance you have of getting an audition yay!

First off, best of luck to all those thinking of auditioning for the role. I sincerely do hope they decide to cast Luna. She was a gem of a character!

Lulu Popplewell, hair can be died...

Dakota Fanning would be okay, but she does have a bit of a "wide-eyed" quality which doesn't work for Luna. She'd be nore of a Mulder-type character to me...

in the book doesnt it say something along the lines of 'luna had wide eyes wich gave her a parmanent look of surprise' i really hope that they do auditions for those who sent in letters because it would be so unfair just to cast people from agencies, not everyone can afford to belong to an agencie, they could be missing out on the perfect girl *cough*me!*cough*

I hope that Luna is going to be in the 5th movie! She is my favourite character! I think JK Rowling is not going to be very happy if they dont put her in!
I really hope for you which want to play her role that they will cast you, because I think is really unfair if they only cast people from agencies.

luna rocks, i especially like the bit at the end were she comferting harry, the way she just seems oblivious to absolutly everything thatys going on around her like when she was arrested in umbridges office, shes like a pillar of calm/insanity for everyone to lean upon. but i think theres more to here then meets the eyes, i dont think weve heard the end of miss lovegood, ok i know this thread isnt for her posiblities in the movie so im only going to say this quikly, at early stages of preproduction they wernt sure if they were going to keep her in, considering the amount of things they will have to cut i was surprised that they didnt cut her, jo has obviously said she wants her to stay in, that means she must play an even more important part in the story line that we have acctually seen so far. i am a firm luna/harry shipper, she has helped him alot, in 2 fights between deaf eaters and when he was depressed about sirius, he hasnt noticed her yet, but we all know he goes for the younger girl, but then there are posibilities of the harry/ginny thing developing, but im not going to go to deeply into this because its not a shipper thread. if i ever meet jo, i would just want to say congratulations on creating such an amazing character. i love luna and i just cant wait to see her in the movies.

My freind for school has been to the auditions and I think that she is in the final ten, which is really exciting! She has done a couple of films but she isn't one to boast so no-one really knows what she has done! She has long blonde hair, 14 and is really pretty. I think she would make a great Luna, I really hope she gets the part!
