If you could change one thing about Hermione as a book character, what would it be?


Geez...I don't know. Maybe her attitude. And by that I mean, she gets agitated very easy. I know it's hard not to when you're around Harry and Ron, especially. But, I think if she didn't get worked up so fast, she might have been a happier person. That sounds lame huh? Oh well, there's not much I'd change about her.

I'd like to see it like an elegant ball room, not so much and ice land. Although...that was pretty too. I'd also like to have some muggle music, and ballroom dancing. Tall pillar candles, square tables with white table clothes with an intricate silver design. Blue roses in tall, large vases and a glittering, enormous chandelier.

I just want it to be a classical yule ball. With a chandelier and hot guys in a suit. And it needs to be in a big room with decorations on the side. And then there would be a sitting group in another room which is decorated in red. Maybe the whole ball could be decorated in dark red and blue. I think that would be really nice, maybe....

I don't know, I guess the next man in line would be Viktor Krum. Or maybe Hermione would not feel right about it because Ron wasn't exactly a fan of him! Maybe Ernie McMillian. He is a prefect, thinks school is just as important as Hermione does and helped out with the DA. I think if Hermione wanted someone who was like her, she would go for Ernie!

And Nasuada it's a shame it's really hard to cook for someone in a forum thread, but thanks for offering. I might tip my dad about it though, he's in the US covering the election so maybe I'll ask him to bring a recipe or something. I talked to him today and he told me that he had eaten pancakes with syrup for breakfast! I definatly have to send him that picture that you linked for me Alastor_and_proud!

I don't think that she had a cat at home, but maybe she always liked cats. She seems like a cat person; indepentant, classy and smart. Crookshanks would have lived with her,so Crookshanks would be a Magical/Muggle cat.

Like I think others said, no. She might have gone out with other people, but she would have always remembered Ron and not want to forget him. She would have wanted to honor him by staying faithful, I think. We're lucky he lived, so she didn't have to consider that option.

Well I've never really thought of Hermione as a grandmother, but I suppose she would be strict, but nice. It might sound like an oxy moron, but I mean that she would be on top of them, but not to the point where it seems like she doesn't love them. She would always make them stuff and spoil them no doubt. But she would always check up on how they were doing in school, and crack down on them if they were doing poorly. I hope that made at least a little sense.

I saw the whole color quiz thing...you know what would be interesting? If everyone took the quiz as "Hermione" and see what each of our results would be? It would be like seeing everyone's POV on who Hermione is as a person. Would they all be the same color? Or different?? Like for instance I took the quiz and answered as I thought Hermione would and I got Brown (I think someone else did this too and got the same color). I think she would be a very loving grandmother who probably spoils the children to a certain extent but also will be one of those elderly ladies that doesn't play games. She'll make sure you behave and do as you're suppose to! She'll be loveable and sweet but also "no-nonsense" at the same time.

WOW you all think she wouldn't have gotten married at all? Personally I think Hermione is a strong willed, independent woman. If Ron had died, she would have grieved, but eventually moved on. Life is to short, to spend it alone. I see Hermione possibly being with Viktor Krum or someone else. I just can't see her at 16 or 17 years old, deciding to be a cat lady and never be with someone. Hermione and Ron weren't even together when he was poisoned. I think after Hermione goes through her grieving process...however long it takes, she would be able to move on, have a family and be happy. And keep her memories of Ron, close to her heart.

I don't really know....when she got Crooksanks it was really a last minute decision so for some reason that leads me to believe she probably did not have a cat in the muggle world. I see her with fish....haha. Don't ask me why, but if she had any pet at all-it would have been a fish in my opinion.

I like both Kristie's answer and Hermione17's answer for this. I think his death would definitely change her in many ways, she'd never be the same. He more than likely would be her first love and no one would take his place...but also she would eventually move on and marry someone. I don't really know who that someone would be though. Everyone that I think of just doesn't seem to fit, I think its because like BRoyals says, I can't imagine her with anyone else.

I'm reading The Half Blood Prince right now. (Literally, the book is on the desk and I'm reading it right now.) And I just read the part where Hermione set her canaries on Ron. I was laughing so hard! It was great! And the part where she confunded McLaggen. She's so awesome! And she's really cool in Deathly Hallows.

How do you think Hermione reacted when she got her Hogwarts letter? How did she break it to her parents?

If she just got a letter and there was no one who came to her door and explained it to her, I think her first reaction was confusion and I don't think she really understood what it was. Therefore I think that McGonagall or some other teacher came to her house and explained it to her and her parents!

What foreign languages do you think Hermione might've studied in "Muggle school"?

I think she would learn French, Latin and maybe Italian. Hermione likes to know everything about anything and I think she would totally bombard herself with several languages. I mean look at PoA she needed a time turner for all her classes! I think she'd take on as many languages as possible.

I think French or Spanish. Both are easy to learn I should know.

I think she jumped up and down like a crazy person because she got the answer to her un-asked question about her 'abilities'. As for telling her parents, she is a honest person so I think she just told them and they accepted it.

I think as she likes challenges, maybe she could have learnt a usual language, like French or Spanish (or both...) and then Latin, or ... Irish!

Honestly, I don't think she just received the letter, but McGonagall must have visited her and explained it to her parents and to the girl herself, of course. But I reckon it must have been rather a shock, I mean, maybe all that time they just thought she had paranormal abilities and just that.

No, I define her as a humanist, because despite she didn't defend genres but races, I think that she was up to defend every person, because none deserves to be ... what, bashed? *kneazles doesn't feel like looking it up a dictionary *

Oh, so many ... When she punches Malfoy, then when she calls him the bouncing ferret, then when she says she feels rebel (because, a rebel Hermione?! We've never seen that! -- is a joke, people. Hermione's been rebel since she started going out with Harry and Ron, but that was the first time she accepted it) And I don't know, there're so many in DH as well... But you know what's gonna be great? That last scene in the trailer!! Absolutely rocking!

And the last thing: Emma news, for the ones who care, I suppose... She wrote a brand-new ems in her official website, which you can read here. There she tells about her trip to Paris, her excitement about The Tale of Desperaux, how she's trying to decided after a university and that she's rereading DH. She seems nice, but I still can't decide whether she's true or not ... From Canon Love, they've posted a new trailer for The Tale of Desperaux (which I don't really care, as it's a children movie), stills, photoshoots and all that stuff, and if somebody knows French, you can go to this site that is almost everyday updated. I don't know French yet, but I always manage to make out a few things, and there it says that she apparently is dating or seeing or whatever you want to call it, Angus Willoughby, an australian who she met in the RADA. Well, yeah, I'm gossip if you can call me like that Don't mind really. I just everyday go to a certain usual websites and there I find out almost everything, so I thought if you let me and if you care, I could inform you everything concerned to Emma Watson.

Her parents were probably there when she got it weren't they ? She probably gave the letter to them, or they read it over her shoulder, I mean, what parent isn't nosy when their 11 year-old gets a random letter ? They all probably thought it was some kind of joke until one of the teachers showed up to talk to them about it. Don't all of the purely muggle families get a visit from a teacher at Hogwarts to help them figure out where Diagon Alley is and perhaps the train ? They were probably shocked and skeptical of it until they were given proof.

(Looks the word up in the Dictionary, Ah) No, she is most certainly not a Feminist, more like a conservative person. She want rights for magical creatures like House-elves. I think that she would want woman to have some sort of rights equal to that of men but not really everything like men.

I have a question? Do you think that Hermione tried to learn Occlumency and Legimency after the war? She saw that it is useful?
I personally believe that she would have talked to Harry about this and maybe even asked him to help her, I thus believe that she is now a complete natural at Occlumency.

Hmmm...I think she is for equality. If woman were being suppressed she do what she could to change it. Just like she did with SPEW. Hermione is for fairness, it doesn't matter what gender, age, or species.

Oh Absolutely! Hermione is into learning, and especially after the war, she would think it's an important and a potentially useful skill. I'm sure after the war there were still people that thought like Voldy did and maybe a few death eaters lurking in the shadows. Hermione would want to learn Occlumency and Legimency just in case the need for the skills rises once more. You never know...
