After reading over the series again I felt rather more warmly towards Kreacher than I had and he could almost be credited with helping to destroy one horcrux. But had it not been for Dobby, Harry and the others in the cellar may not have been able to escape, Dobby gave his life to protect Harry who ultimately went on to destroy each horcrux thereafter and then Voldemort himself. At the final battle, Kreacher(this was my impression) rallies the other house elves to fight against Voldemort, adding to thte good forces.

I love Dobby. He is my favorite house elf in the book. All the different ways he tried to help Harry were so sweet. Also he was a one of a kind house elf. When he passed I cried really hard. It just didn't seem fair. Plus, without Dobby I think Harry's life would have had some pretty big differences in it by the end.

I have a fondness for Kreacher too. My heart was warmed when I saw how he acted when he was given love and affection. I thought it was adorable when Kreacher talked about how much he loved Regulus. Actually one of the reasons I dislike Sirius is for how he treated Kreacher.

Kreacher and Dobby are both good house elves.

I think Dobby contributed most in the defeat of Voldemort...

Dobby helped Harry survive... if he had not sacrificed his own life for Harry and his friends, Harry may have died and then Voldemort wouldn't have been defeated...

I like the house elves in the last book. Going off the poll I think both Dobby and Kreacher played major rolls in voldemorts downfall. Dobby helped harry escape so he could survive to fight voldemort and eventually defeat him. Kreacher also helped out. He was the one who got the original horcrux and hunteddown the mundungas who stole it. He also led the house elves from the kitchens to help fight for hogwarts. House elves are tricky little helpers against the dark lord.
