*faints at the sight of Dracula*

Ahh......a whole bunch of hot guys battling it out with super-powers. So nice.

I can't help but obsess about Dracula's hair. Richard Roxborough did an excellent job of acting the part, and he had the added bonus of making a 430 year-old vampire look incredibly attractive. *drool*

BUT HIS HAIR WAS SOOO PRETTY!!

And David Wenham was sooo adorable!! *huggles*

It wash a good movie.....bit weird at times.....but pretty good.
HappyDappyDrunk
I only liked the first half, then the plot began to drag major. But when Dracula died, I was like, 'Well, there's goes 3/4 of the attraction of this movie' but also 'Thank god. Soon I'll be out of this uncomfortable seat'. O.o
Naz
the parts of the movie that i liked the most were obviosaly (i cant spell) the parts with dracula in them
Catch_22
I cant be the only one who hates the ending... can i? *shifty eyes*
NastyShort
Nope, you're not. I was pretty weirded. I still don't get how it happened though......because there was no....err....physical evidence.....but then it wouldn't matter because of the.....burning.
Catch_22
Yeah. That just sucked. Altho the whole... her face showing randomly in the skies was kinda cool. wouldnt u like ur face to be in the clouds? tongue.gif
NastyShort
Lol, sure sure. At least she was with.......her family you know. I wonder if they'll make another one.

And did you know, that the voice of Dr. Jekyll was....*drumroll*

ROBBIE COLTRANE!
Catch_22
Thank you for the info of the day, presented by the wonderful post above this one. *rolls eyes*

I knew i just needed to know that. hey at least this means i got a little more in this little brain of mine.
NastyShort
Are you mocking me? *takes out Van Helsing's crossbow* And the fact that I have no idea how to use this makes me all the more dangerous. biggrin.gif *waves it around blindly*
Naz
aaahh!! everyone run for cover!!! she's dangerous!! biggrin.gif
WeMissPadfoot
Van Helsing was too kool!

Does anybody else think Hugh Jackman is a GOD!? lol laugh.gif

He is sooooo hott!

Carl was koolio too smile.gif
Fave character in fact!
oOo, and I liked Ana's dress at the end.
But I do agree the ending was weird.
Naz
it was really good though! i like hugh jackman too! especially in x-men!!
BladerChick13
i loved van helsing me and 5 of my friends went and saw it it was awesome at one point one friends went to get more butter on the popcorn and i swear if the popcorn was in my hands it would have in the at baby vampire where van helsing touches the head
Spanner
It was a good movie, not great. The cast was by and large okay; Roxburgh was his usual wonderful self and David Wenham has long been a favourite of mine. He's just so wonderful with quirky roles.
K.Lupin_werewolf
i love this film! david wenham was real good, i thought carl was funnny. i generally really like the film and i could watch it again and again.

Well, the other fourth goes away when Van Helsing kills Anna on accident because of his 'impairment.' However, my mom are always willing to watch the movie again and again. tongue.gif

And NastyShort, do not aim that crossbow at me. *Takes Van Helsing's crucifix* I have the will of God protecting me!
Harry_Ginny777
ohhhh i love Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman, and kate beckinsale is so pretty she is like a princess i love her. she did great in Van Helsing. and Hugh did a awesome job too. the monsters in the movie is so cool i could not believe it. and the weapons were wicked too i love movies and tv shows like this like angel and buffy the vampire slayer and all vampire things
xXTonksXx
van Helsing was a really great movie and i always wonder how loads of people havent heard of it. its not very famous but its still great. it can get really boring if you watch it all the time though. it just not as exiting as the 1st few times
DoubleD
Van Helsing was good, but not great. I think the actorss did well, but Dracula lokked so much like a girl! That was pretty uncool...
I know that someone's going to be aiming at me with Van Helsing's crossbow (someone who knows how to use it), but I think the Werwolves looked cooler than Lupin in the PoA-movie...
However, Carl was funny! wink.gif
LupinFan88
I enjoyed Van Helsing. It had a good combination of action, horror, and comedy. My favorite charcter was Carl. He reminded me of me: smart but sometimes scared. I also liked the combination of the different horror classics, although, technically Van Helsing was supposed to a like an old scientist guy, right? But, I liked the movie anyway
HPFan792
I liked Van Helsing.I thought it was a really good film.I agree with Lupin Fan i also liked the combination of different horror films.I think it was fantastic how they had Dracula, Van Helsing, Vampires ,Werwolves, and other characters in one film.
Seriouslysirius
Van Helsing is a really good, film.
The actors where so good in it. Hugh Jackmans performance as Van Helsing was spot on.
I loved the monsters, the werewolf being my favourite. Had a lot of good twists in it.
K.Lupin_werewolf
said it before, will say it again... i loved it!! good twists, good characters, good werewolves (much better than Lupin's werewolf) ermmm and well it was just great..... good fights, wicked weapons....good storyline...
Sabrina_Rose_Snape
I love Van Helsing!!!
Anything with fighting, monters, vampries, werewoves etc I love...
But I hated the fact that there were harly any GOOD women in it and the only GOOD woman died in the end...
Brillant story-line though and I think they might do another one...
Well I hope so...
K.Lupin_werewolf
i totally agree with you Sabrina_Rose_Snape!! so many men, i mean come on women are not all bad thanks!! are we?? unsure.gif lol it was a shame that she died!! well at least her family got to go to heaven, bless em! *why do i always sound like a mom when i say that?* wooooo!! they went to heaven...ye...because that was just...great! huh.gif

K.Lupin_werewolf
hey why should i pay for it?? lol

anyways about Van Helsing lol ....

whose everybody favourite character?? i like Van Helsing and Anna and Carl lol that's the main three i guess!!
Seriouslysirius
My favourite character is probably carl..

And yeah i think the best Monsters in the film where the Werewolves. Though then again Werewolve's aren't really monsters.
Dracula's real monster form was great too.
The ending was sad though.
K.Lupin_werewolf
yes you are right...
werewolves are not really monsters.... "Because werewolves are people to!"
and yes... Dracula is the monster as it were...

and i guess we have to remember that it's not just the "monsters" that are monsters... humans can be them too!

QUOTE

i agree!! it was sad!! she was like the only "good" girl in it and she died!!

Clever and true K.Lupin_werewolf (Jade) and fine example of a human being a monster would have to be Frollo from the flim 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' after all one of the songs do say:
Clopin: [singing] Now here is the riddle / Guess if you can sing the bells of Notre Dame / Who is the monster and man?
Obviously, the man is Quasimodo and the monster is Frollo.
Seriouslysirius
I just thought i'd say that my favourite scene in the film is when they have the two carriages and swap them.
It was a clever trick and there was some really good special affects in that scene.
Mind you the whole film has great special affects...

True Dan, the carriage trick was great!! biggrin.gif

K.Lupin_werewolf
yes... i have to admit that the carriage trick was good! i loved it. when it was happening i thought oh no!! and then i was like wow!! ... i know... brief description... but hey! wow is such a great explaination and description lol

Hey i just thought i'd say that in the U.K Van Helsing is on Christmas Eve at 9 O'clock.
But i wont be watching it.
I'll just put the video in earlier and watch then.
So i still wach it christmas eve.
ILoveHarryPotter07
I thought it was a great movie.
I saw it a whlie ago, so I'm not sure I remember much of it, but is was a cool vampire movie.
I loved the Dracula spawn idea, and all the monsters coming together in the same story line I thought that was cool. I wasn't too happy with the ending though, I didn't expect it to turn out the way it did, It was actually rather saddening.
rockchick101
Love that movie. It was a bit weird at times but I liked it...

It was smart the way all those iconic horror characters came together in the one film and I loved Dracula!

The vampire spawn idea was good but the second time watching it (I think) I hadn't watched it in ages and so, when the "baby" jumped out, I jumped and spilled boiling hot tea all over my hand...

Anyway... I liked Carl the best. happy.gif
DeSs
I really liked Van Helsing, because of ... the werewolf! You don't know how much I wish our Remus Lupin was like a Van Helsing werewolf!
But I think it's a good movie, despite whenever I see it on tv and start watching, my sister mocks at me (don't ask me why, except that she doesn't like it tongue.gif ) It's another good story for Dracula, and the battle against werewolves.
rebel_megz
I'm rather disappointed - this topic has three pages and I've never heard of it?! I love that movie! Carl is hilarious "I'm not a field man!" "But Van Helsing, I don't want to go to Transylvania!" Mind those weren't exact quotes but along those lines! I also loved Van Helsing himself! His sarcasm and the action scenes! (I love action movies anyways) I have to say, Hugh Jackman has a certain sexiness about him... Kate Beckinsale as Anna was great! Did anyone know that the guy who played Carl (David Wenham) is the same guy who played Faramir in Lord Of The Rings? Van Helsing is great!!! I love that movie so much!
siriuslyinlove
Hooray Van Helsing!

Really? That is interesting!

It is a great movie. But *Possible spoiler ahead* anna should not have died at the end! sad.gif That almost ruined it ... but not quite. Everyone did really well happy.gif

Great topic!
Peace xoxo.

The movie was on TV yesterday, and although I didn't get to watch it, it reminded me of how good the movie really is.

I, along with 98% of the others on this site, really like the science fiction, fiction, and fantasy genres in movies and books. So this movie really appealed to me, the CGI work was really good and the acting, scenery, and costumes were incredible. I haven't seen a movie like Van Helsing before, with werewolves and vampires going against each other, in a "serious" plot. The quotations are around 'serious' because there are many funny scenes in the movie.

Kate Beckinsale's performance in the movie definitely raised my opinion of her as an actress. It was a major let down when her character Anna died at the end. There was some closure to that though, it's not like they left it with her dying.

Overall it was an amazing movie!

Wow, it seems like people here really like this movie, when most the people I know think it's not good at all, and mostly complain about it. But that would be the anime club. I still haven't read or watched Helsing, which I wouldn't advise anyone to do who isn't over the age of 17. It's really very violent.
But Van Helsing has always felt like the watered down version of something that's much better. Because Americanization means never having to say your Japanese.
mugglelovrspew
I've seen this movie, and I find it pretty good. It's an interesting story line, and it confuses me, but great anyway. I do have an idea, though. What are the blue vampire women? Because from what I read, are the Veela? Veela turn into things somewhat like that when they become mad, and since they're so beautiful... maybe I'm just making up stupid theories, but could someone classify this for me?
