This idea struck me a few days ago and would not leave me alone, so I figured I would act on it. Dumbledore has decided to start a student newspaper. I liked the first chapter very much, and I hope the playful tone of it is an indicator that more laughs are to come! I also get a kick out of Original Characters. I think they get a bad rap, because, to me, making an OC and dropping them into an existing story is the ultimate in creativity! So if anyone gives you any grief about it, don't let it stop you. Keely's a fun character. She has that sense of mischief that would have made her an excellent fit to counterbalance Hermione, had Hermione had a true female friend, yet she is clearly intelligent enough to hold Hermione's interest.

Oooh, interesting little twist at the end...she's going to fill out two applications? Hmmm. Wonder which one gets into whose hands?

Aethonon~ Thank you for being my first reviewer!! I'm glad you liked it. And yes, I definitely don't want to lose the playful tone. I like lighthearted stories, but I can't promise that it will be all laughs and giggles, because I also like to get a little serious. People's lives can't be all fun and games.

I'm glad you like OCs. I personally love them, especially when it comes to Draco fics. I like OCs, because you can write them anyway you want and no one can say, "Oh, they would never do that."

Yep, Keely is full of mischief and she is flirtatious, so she is bound to get into some trouble. She can also hold her own in an intellectual debate, so while she may not completely be able to match Hermione in smarts (really, who can?) She's definitely brighter than a lot of the students at Hogwarts.

And since I've already declared that this will be a DM/OC, I don't think I'll be giving any of the plot away by saying Keely will be able to also hold her own with our favorite bad boy.

Chapter two ruled! It was so cute. Keely is an outragous girl, isn't she? Not your 'typical' English wallflower--she's quite physical. Not that English girls are all alike, but we are so used to staid, in-control Hermione, and here's one that's practically ready for the ring! Things that make me go hmmmmm...as in, yes, a girl would have to be strong and light on her feet in dealing with our Draco.

I do love the whole Keely freaking out thing, racing through the halls trying to retrieve the paper. Anyone who has ever done anything stupid like that totally understands that feeling of panic!

I'm thinking now it might be too easy to assume Draco charmed the applications, and now there are several contenders for the deed. Not the Weasleys though, apparently (for once!). lol

Thanks for posting the new chapter so quickly, I really enjoyed it and am waiting to see what Lavender and Parvati have said.

I really enjoyed chapters 1 and 2. I just read them in one sitting. I've never read an OC before and never thought I could get into it, but you've definitely changed my mind. Anything that Dayna writes, I will read! That's my new motto.

Anyway, I liked Keely very much. She's a strong character and fits right in with the other Gryffindors. I can totally imagine her as Hermione's best girlfriend. As always, your writing is addictive and I'm looking forward to chapter 3.

Wow, usually Draco fan fics like these are all the same, but I really like this. After I started reading I was really disappointed to see there have only been two chapters. Usually OC fan fics seem forced, but you did a great job creating another Gryffindor. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

I'm so glad you liked chapter two, too! Keely is pretty crazy, of course, I don't know what English girls are really like. But if you mean sitting at a tea party drinking tea with her pinky raised, no, she is definitely not one of those! She is very feminine but not in a prissy sort of way. She's the type of person that likes her fingernails long and polished, but if one breaks, she's only upset because it stings a little. So she'll suck on it for a second, then go on with life.

Lisa~ Yay, I'm so glad you found this one too. I'm so horrible!!! It seems that I'm incapable of having only one fic going at a time. Now I have 3! Don't worry though, having more than one story going helps my creativity stay at top level. If I get stuck on one, I'll just clear my mind with one of my other ones and when I'm ready to pick up the one I got stuck on, I'm usually able to just trudge through the block. Anyway, back on topic Thank you for the review. I'm glad you like it, and I like your new motto. I'm also glad that you're giving my OC a chance! I love OC fics, I can write the character any way I want to and no one can say, 'That's ridiculous, they'd never do that!' *holds out a brand new plate of cookies just for you* And don't worry, we haven't seen the last of our dear Severus. It's extremely rare to read one of my stories that he doesn't play a significant part in.

acidpop~ Thank you so much! I'm glad you find this one different enough to keep reading! I really like OC fics when they are paired with Draco. Yes, most of them are the same, and I'm going to try to stay away from the redundant feel of them. And I'm glad you feel that Keely fits in smoothly. I understand what you're saying about them feeling forced a lot of times. Those ones have a hard time keeping my interest. I hope that if Keely starts feeling that way, that you'll let me know so I can adjust her.

OK, chapter three, yay! And again, very clever! Draco was very Draco-esque, but, in a weird way. This isn't his usual attitude, it's slightly different. There's something under the surface there, that's for sure. He just calls Hermione a mudblood, and would never say she was pretty, even when he realized (at the Yule Ball) that she was. Here he just says it outright. Good thing Pansy didn't hear him say it? lol So he feels something for that 'goody-goody Gryffindor!' Even if it's just lust.

I love the way you've done Severus! Especially the second chapter...is anyone dying? no. Bleeding? no. Then go back to your room!

I really like your Keely character. She is spunky and daring. Should she be the lucky girl to end up with Draco, he will surely have to be in top form.

I love that she's a Gryffindor and she likes Snape! Also that she isn't intimidated by him is really refreshing. This is light fun read be sure to keep it going.

Darcy~ I've just started reading Summer Chill, I'm on chapter 5 and it is definitely not redundant. I love it so far, but since I have to be up at 5:30 in the morning, I decided I'd better pull myself away. But I promise I will finish it! I wonder what Emilie is. She's certainly not a regular witch. I would review in your feedback, but I didn't see any links to one as of chapter 5.

Anyway, it's kind of hard to explain how a lot of the Draco/OC fics are. I guess you could say they are a lot like soap operas. If you've seen one, you've seen them all type of thing. Yes, the names are different, but never failing, you have your cops, your doctors, your rich snobs and your bad guys (In soap operas). I think that's what acidpop meant by they're all the same. Or maybe she meant they're mostly MarySue characters. I don't see Emilie being a MarySue. I haven't started either of your other fics, but I will as soon as I finish Summer Chill, as I'm assuming, that the others are sequels.

Ok, now for your review. . . Yes, Draco did act a little differently than normal. But I think he definitely could act like that. No, he would never do anything like that with Hermione, because of her muggle heritage, but (it hasn't been mentioned yet, but it will be), Keely is pureblooded, and she is very pretty, which is why Pansy didn't say anything about her looks, like she always did with Hermione. Draco is very sure of himself when it comes to females, I think. And I think behind the scenes he could have been very much like that to girls he thought were pretty. And yes, it's a good thing Pansy didn't hear him say that. She would have had a cow!

I'm also glad you like my Severus! I love writing Snape. He's so much fun!

Keely is officially one of my favorite Gryffindors! I love the way you've made her so spunky and clever all at the same time. She's a wee bit of a flirt with my Severus and it's adorable. She seems to have wormed her way into his heart (in a non-romantic way) and he seems to find her cheeky-in a cute way. If she can charm Severus Snape, she should have no problem with Draco! I'm looking forward to their next encounter. Go Keely!!

Ha! Keely's such a trip! And I love how she found out about her new position. The gum was nasty though, wasn't it? I was a bit shocked that she threw her arms around Severus Snape, and wasn't even all that abashed about it afterward. I love how she's not afraid of him, such a refreshing change from the usual trepidation as regards him.

It was amazing, and I could tell a lot of research went into it, especially Winter Sun, whether you had studied the mythology before you wrote it, or researched it while you were writing. He's obnoxious and cocky and pretty much the type of guy that I always fall for! And Keely is so much fun! She's full of salt and vinegar and has a zest for life. She tries not to let trivial things get her down and I think Draco's girl would have to be just like her. Because a girl would get flattened by him if she was a demure little 'English Wallflower' as Aethonon called them. And I think that Draco would get bored with one of those, anyway. Alright, so I just read the last couple chapters. The same thing happened as last time I finished reading. To sum it up this is how I felt "Omigoshhhh Keely is soo cool. I want more her and Draco!!!! I love your fic. It puts me in such a good mood when I read it simply because Keely is so charming. Your OC character abilities are amazing. She has personality traits I'm so very fond of. I smile everytime I see what she has to say to Snape. She's a sassy little Gryffindor.

Another thing I really like is how you gave Hermione a great girlfriend. She really does deserve one and it's great how Keely can get her to let loose. It's nice to see the less serious side of Hermione.

As for your questions; Well, Hermione is Keely's very best friend, and no boy, not even Draco will be able to come between them. Although I'm sure that Draco will do what he can to change that. And about Keely having feelings for Draco. . . She is attracted to him, but as of now, I don't think that it is any more than that, at least consciously. Her subconscious is trying to tell her that it's more than that, and she is stubbornly refusing it.

Once you told me you had written a fic with a Hogwarts paper in it I just had to read for myself! The Hogwarts Herald. I really like it! Keely seems like a really sweet, fun character. Her nick-name for Hermione is great, My. Nobody ever gave Hermione a nick-name and I think it's great that Keely did.

Snape is so cool in this! You always do such a great job portraying him! Haha, it made me laugh that he gave her detention just so she could get the letter privately. Very sly.

And she's going to write an advice column! That is so cool! It immediatly reminded me of my newsletter. I won't get really into it, but I have a family newsletter that I send out and I 'hired' one of my cousins and he has an advice column and it's really great. That's awesome that she's in charge of it! Very very cool!

I actually felt like I had butterflies in my stomach when I read about their latest "run in"! I felt like I was right there in the hall with them. Yes, yes, she is done for if she knows him by scent! Ah. . . I had a hard time deciding on what Draco should smell like. I didn't want him to smell girly, obviously, but how do you describe your favorite colonge? I know there is no colonge that smells like peppermint and a summer storm, but I know I for one would love it if there was. I hope peppermint and a summer storm doesn't seem too girly. If it does, ah well.

I must agree that my favorite part of the new chapter was Draco's scent. It's a perfect fit for him. Peppermints are sweet, refreshing, strong. My first that when I saw storm 'Oh stormy, like his beautiful eyes!'.

Ah I love Keely. I love the story. I was perhaps only 95% hooked, but now I'm definitely 100%.

Oh my gosh, I loved it! I love the scent, too. It fits Draco perfectly; you did wonderfully. Definitely not too girly, and I love how you said the scent smelled like summer storm. Summer is a good season, but storm's can be bad just like Draco! You outdid yourself, as usual.

I loved Keely's advice too. Haha, it was funny how instead of agreeing with the student about Snape, Keely told the person it was his/her own fault. And could you give some of the guys I know the same advice about girls that you gave in the first letter? I've seen some guys do some pretty immature and disgusting things because he like the girl.

When I was deciding what to have him smell like, peppermint wouldn't leave my mind no matter how hard I tried to push it out. So in the end it won out. And one of my favorite scents of all time is the smell of a summer storm. Ahhh. . . I didn't know how putting the two scents together would go over for my wonderful fans, but I guess everyone else likes it too.

Haha, yeah, Keely's advice for the poor potions student will come into play in a future chapter, but you'll just have to keep reading to find out how.

Oh my gosh! I loved the new chapter. At the start of the chapter, nothing was happening with Draco and I started to worry. Then, when she was going down to the kitchens I knew she had to meet Draco. I had now idea what was going to happen though! Wow! Kissing and a detention with Draco; very clever of you. That was a great chapter! Of course she has to tell Hermione, so how will Hermione recieve the news?

Alyssa~ I know! Keely is such a lucky girl! I would be able to die happy with one or the other (especially the kiss. Of course, we don't know yet what her detention will be so I think I'll withhold judgement until the detention is written. )

Oh...My...God!! Dayna, you have outdone yourself! This chapter was incredible. I love the way you write the scenes with Draco and Keely- such tension! That kiss was to die for; I'm so jealous! I'm looking forward to Keely's detention.

By the way, this was hysterical:

You really should write a book. I'm serious. Your writing is so tight and the style is so fluid, I never feel like I'm reading something that is unpublished.

By the way, I totally agree with lisasnape. You should write a book Dayna. We all know how fantastic a writer you are. Besides, it's not like you'd have to worry nobody would buy it, cause we'd be all over it. You're a really good writer and should definitely consider writing a book.

Sorry it's taken me so long to read your new chapters! I've been working all week and haven't been online at all.

Oh I love chapter eight! It shows her answers published! I thought it was great how she defended Snape in that one letter and kind of blamed the student. It made me laugh out loud. Haha. She did give pretty good advice too. I hope she can keep her secret from the Weasleys and Harry.



Hahaha! OH my goose that's great! Wow! And he kissed her! That was amazing! Draco's so mysterious! That's all I can think of to describe him. He never says much, but it always says so much. I know that's a major contradiction. But I like him!

It's funny that you should mention about him claiming Keely as his, because there is already a reference about that in Chapter 10.

While I think there is some goodness in Draco's heart and he could be tender at times if he really wanted to, he is anything but a sissy! I think he is very masculine minded and confident. He knows what he want's and he's willing to do whatever it takes to obtain it. I really like that about him.

What a detention! That was probably one of the most fun detentions anyone at Hogwarts has ever served! I loved Keely standing up to Draco and giving him attitude like that. And the way she doesn't mind Snape and gives him attitude as well. Again, you've made a fantastic chapter. They are a perfect match. They are both determined people who have attitude and a sort of power. What I mean by power, is they have an influence over their friends; they aren't the friends that are the followers in the group.

Draco is so evil, but that's a really good thing!
