Severus Snape Birthday One Shot:
“Happy Birthday Sevvy!”
“Happy Birthday Sevvy!”
*********
“Sev, come on it’ll be fun, I wouldn’t lie to you.”
“….”
“Seeeeev! Come on, right now! Stop being so stubborn!”
“…..”
“Severus Snape, you better come out here right now or I’ll send Tuny after you!”
Snape cracked opened the door to his small, dilapidated house and looked at the young girl standing on his front lawn. She had a bright, smiling face and her hair was pulled up into a bun, clad in a chunky boots, winter coat, ear muffs, and a thick scarf. Her cheeks were red from the cold, bringing out the electric green color of her eyes.
“Lily, I told you, I don’t want to go. My parents want to-”
Lily stomped her foot, piercing Snape with her green eyes, “Sev, don’t even say that your parents are going to give you a party! You have had nine birthdays before, and when have you ever had a cake and balloons and presents? Never! So come on for just an hour and have a real birthday. Please?”
Snape looked at his best friend, her face full of hope. She smiled in encouragement, and waved him over before turning and skipping down to the side walk where her older and much unnoticed sister Petunia waited for her.
Snape closed the door to his house, running into his room where he grabbed his murky brown boots that had a large hole in the left toe and green overcoat, pulling them on quickly. He could hear his parents yelling in a distant room, their voices barely audible over his own thoughts.
“Lily is throwing me a birthday party. But where, her parents dislike me, they wouldn’t let me in their house. And Petunia is coming also? What does she have planned? I hope there’s cake – vanilla cake. I do love vanilla cake.”
Running quickly through the house and out the door, Snape flew down the walk to Lily and Petunia, who were sitting on the side walk, drawing in the dirt with sticks.
“Oh Sev! You came out, we thought we would have to wait out here all night,” exclaimed Lily, “Come on, let’s go.”
Lily led Severus and Petunia down the street onto a small path in the woods. Severus knew where they were going – he and Lily would hide out in the clearing and play Wizards almost every day after school.
After a few short minuets, Lily stopped and walked around Snape. “Ok mister, no peeking.”
Snape was swallowed into the darkness as Lily placed her hands over his eyes, leading him to his unknown destination. He could feel the exictment begin to boil up in his blood, his imagination began to go into overdrive as he thought of all the possibilities of what Lily was doing for his birthday.
Finally, Lily stopped him.
“Your eyes better be closed.” She teased, before lifting her hands off his face.
Snape was scared to open his eyes, and when he did, he saw the most magnificent thing he had ever seen in all of his ten years of life. Birthday balloons were hung over tree branches by strings, streamers were taped up to the bark of the trees; slowly peeling off and falling onto the wet ground, and the biggest birthday cake Snape had ever seen was sitting on a large tree stump, a large, clumsy S drawn in the middle with green frosting.
Snape looked around him, taking in his party, his party. His party that Lily had planned all for him.
Lily came up to him then, a big wrapped box in her hands, a present.
Smiling, she handed the large box to Severus. “Happy Birthday Sevvy; my best friend ever!”
