I have a few friends who like HP as well but then others that think I am a complete lunatic for even reading HP they think that it is like for kids and stuff, but hey I love it and if all of the Potter Haters out there can't appreciate it then too bad for them...

I have one friend who reads the books but she isn't obsessed like me. I don't keep it a secret. I wear my HP shirts the day after I wash them. Most of the time once a week. Some people make fun of me but I like HP wayyyy too much to care. The friend that reads the books is even turning away from HP because of me. My mom got me started and I've almost got her boyfriend on HP. I'll get him sooner or later. Sooner is better. I will prevail!!

Ya i have 2 groups that i hang out with. Only one of them know that i like Harry Potter and they dont really care, some of them read the books but they arent into it like i am. But one of my friends is just like, like she reads everything. She goes onto harry potter sites all the time. Theres a couple of my friends that are kinda disgusted at the fact that i actually like harry potter cause they think its just something stupid and pointless and is surprised that its such a hit, and thinks that anyone that actually likes harry potter is a freak. But then again i am the freak in my group so it dont bother me.
My other group, they dont know. They dont really read much they watch a lot of things. They think Harry Potter is stupid but good, they said theyve heard the books are good but if they read them they would ruin the movies for them cause they think they were half decent. otherwise they think harry potter is pure stupid.

Most of my friends know i'm a HP fan, but i'd so only my close friends know how ubsessed i am. They make fun of me some times but i have one friend who doesn't read the books but really likes the movies. I can talk about HP with her and i'm trying to get her to read the books. Like people at my school wouldn't know i'm a crazy harry potter fan if they just met me. I'm not like hi, i love harry potter. But if it comes up i dont deny it. I go to overnight camp, and this summer like half the camp was reading the new book. It was like midnight and we were all in the cabin and i was yelling at everyone to be quiet because i was at the end and i was like bawling. None of my friends really hate harry potter, like they have all seen the movies. but i am definately the biggest fan of them all. I kinda used to hide that i loved harry potter, like even from my parents. I would read the books in secret because i had read them all like 6 times already. but now im not ashamed, becuase my HP obsession is like a part of me...

It happens really often that someome is laughing at me or at least gives me a strange look. I don't hide my HP interests, though. It's nothing to be ashamed of, I think. Most of my friends read Harry Potter, but they are not fans of it. Even my mum, who read all the books, is quite irritated when I want to discuss something from the book. I can remember when people were laughing at me more than ever: when I was counting days to release of HPDH by crossing the days in calender and when I wrote my favourite quotes from HPDH on colour paper and hanged them over my bed. I don't know, what's strange in it? Noone really listens to me when I'm talking about Harry Potter. If I want to be listened by people as interested in HP as me, I go here in VTM forums.

I have only one friend who LOVES HP like I do. We sat for hours on the phone discussing the latest movie (very disappointed) and everything else in HP especially the theme park! I talk to my hubby about HP and he thinks I'm totally nuts...just ignores me. My mom listens...she likes the movies hasn't read the books though...and my other friends think I'm just crazy. But...I don't care i love Harry Potter!!

I think it's not necasarily a good thing to be a secret fan of anything. People get the wrong idea about what you like and stuff. If you just don't bring it up, that's ok. But if someone askes you and you say 'Oh, Harry stinks', then you aren't really being true or fair to yourself, and you're sort of lying to whoever asked you.

i couldn't be a secert fan even if i wanted to my friends all know i love Harry and i love the books! my parents tease me about it ... i have all 7 books and 1 unauthorized book .... my screen name buddy is harry and the goblet of fire and i talk about the books a lot... the thing is that i only read the books when i came back for camp a couple of years ago because a girl finally got me to like the books eventhough i had 4 of the books and hadn't open them.... i just saw the movies and thought i was a Harry Potter fan but only the readers of the books are the true fans..... my whole family makes fun of me and my VTM name.... as you can see i am in love with Harry and i dislike Ginny because of what she said in the 7th book but oh well i don't write the books..... i wish that she would write some more even if they aren't on Harry the could be on his kids.... well i guess i get my fill of Harry reading the fan fics

I'm sorry, I had to start something like this. I mean, how do you guys feel if you say you love Harry Potter or any of the actors and are shot down. I mean just recently I was telling people how I loved Dan Radcliffe's eyes and all they said was, "eww" or, "wow you have bad taste"

In real life no one person whom i know love Hp( book, movies, actors...) Everyone is jeer at me...My parents just smile like "She is so little child ! Like HP and kids who play in it"
Friend is dont hide her emothions say "Your Dan is disgusting" - she is dont like his surface.
2-3 year ago another opinion was important for me, now this fell is gone.
I am dont speek about HP with anyone but real fans, whom i know, really understand me.

Wow this is pretty much the reason I joined VTM! Without it I would have no one to talk to about it! Every one of my friends thinks Harry Potter is stupid...or even worse, they don't bother reading the books because they think its too long! I mean, come on! Once you read the books, you get so into it that you're pretty much done with it before you know it. They don't give it a chance! *stomps foot angrily* plus when I say I love Harry Potter and they're my favorite books and movies and stuff, they call me a dork or something. I just shrug it off usually, but really! I get sick of it sometimes.

well haha personally im a little if both, i love to let the world know that i am a harry potter fan freak but then again i have those friends that really dont give a crap who harry potter is & since i talk about him 24/7 they really get tired of it. sometimes when i make harry potter references i swear that people are about to punch me in the face . its as if they name harry potter were to be jinxed & if i said it then something not good is going to happen lol wel lthats all for now i'll let you know if anything else happens

Wow, nicky potter, at least you're the brave enough as to talk about HP in front of your friends. I can't. My closest friends do know that I have all the books, that I spent my summer trasnlating it, that I'll go flying to the cinema on the 20th November, but they don't know that I'm user of Vtm, that my pc is full of Hr/R pics, that I love them, that I write fanfics,and aybe not even that I have all the movies as well. They accept it, because one of my friends' siblings like HP too and that friend likes the movies, but as to they it's just a movie and nothing more, and people don't like talking about movies when they're not fans, I don't feel like being bothering them with my crazyness The rest of my classmates don't know about my obsession, and that's good luck in some way 'cause, for example, when a teacher said at start of term that she doesn't like HP because it was this and that, etc; if they'd know it, they had been looking at my reaction and I'd be like a tomato.
It's awesome there're sites like this, in which we find out that we aren't the only ones, alone in a senseless world.

oh god i know how you feel. my parents arent rerally into this . so i def. cant speak to them about this . my dad doesnt like it but he doesnt get mad when i speak about it . he's more like i rather you read & get obsessed about this harry potter as long you're not in drugs lol & my mom she wont listen. my really close friends dont like it at ALL . i had one friend who i got her into it but we hardly speak anymore . & the only time we do its harry potter realted. pretty much sites like these & mugglecastt podcast are my only means of conversating about harry potter with people with the same love & obsession as i do thank you all for staying true to the harry potter series<3

I'm definetly not a secret Harry Potter fan. Most people know I'm obssesed with Harry Potter. My myspace is filled with Harry Potter stuff, along with my PC, wardrope, knick knacks and posters. I tend to always have a book in my bag also, depending on my mood. None of my friends are really into Harry Potter like I am. My best friend used to love it, but now she's really into the Twilight series. My boyfriend cannot stand Harry Potter, he's more a physcological, CSI type of person. He thinks me paying to watch a bunch of British people wave wands around is stupid. Oh well, I always enjoy myself.

To be honest, besides one other girl in my school, I'm really the only one who's obssesed with Harry Potter. You should see how must stuff I have, it's getting pretty big. My parents think I spend too much time on VTM and writing my fic, but I do do other things, but Harry Potter is probably the third most common thing I do (the first being dance, the second taking photos).

Haha, about my parents, let me say that:
*I have no idea of whether my dad likes it or not, 'cause he's always mocking about it (which I HATE ) in the movies and all, but on the other hand, he had read every one of my books (which I HATE too, 'cause I read them the most carefully I could, trying not to open them too much, and he took them and opened them in such a way! that I nearly hide them)
*my mum likes the movies, and she really makes a huge effort to catch up with them and understand the plot, but sometimes she lose track and then I have to explain it, and she will never read the books 'cause she says she's too busy as to read such a long serie (she tried once, though, with PoA)
*my sister likes a bit the movies, but she doesn't undestand anything of the plot and I don't bother to explain her either because I know she'll exasperate me, and I think she doesn't want me to explain too much.

The most annoying is that sometimes they say things that have nothing to do because they don't understand, or something. Grr, that drives me mad.

all of my family does the same ! they say that they dont ahve time to read & i tried explaing to my parents but oh well they dont bother to listen . my mom thinks its stupid & well my dad doesnt mock me he just tells me he isnt really that intrested & thats that. & its unfortunate to say that i am the only harry potter fanatic in my family : / i have no one in the family to turn . & i have VERY few friends who like it but not as much as me to talk about it .... so i turn to VTM thank god.

In my family of 6, only two of us like the HP series! My dad and I go to every book release, and we buy two copies so we can each read it at the same time. My mom doesn't care for it, but she covers that up with "I don't have time" and my younger sisters are either too young to even read or they just hate it period. My dad and I are fanatics, though. He's the one who introduced me to VTM, and now I'm on here 24/7!
