I have been granted permission to start this club by Just the Droobles - many thanks Droobles!

This is a club utterly dedicated to the fantastic Sirius Black who deserves his very own thread!

I'm looking for people to help me come up with fun activities for members and please bear with me - this is the first club I am running.

Feel free to PM me if you are interested in helping me run this club. If you post here you are choosing to join and I request that you add a link to this thread in your signature to spread the word to other Sirius fanatics under the name of S.D.P.G.

Post your Sirius related questions here but remember one liners are not allowed - all Veritaserum rules apply.

I will be making a list of members as the club develops.

Many thanks,
Harry

Hi! I'm joining the club. May I have the honour of choosing the first question? I have a few in my mind at the moment.

Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?
What is your favorite personality trait of his?

That should start us off. I am not sure how good those questions are, but it is the best I can do off the top of my head. smile.gif

Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?

Not really. I think it is nice that he went in battle, and not withering away in a rocking chair, but I don't like that he died so soon. I think that he and Harry deserved time together, and that Sirius deserved a happier life. If he had lived longer, it would have given him time to heal some wounds. And I hated the death in the movie. It was just weird. Harry's reaction was, in my opinion, kind of dumb. Of course, I didn't want him to die in the first place, so I wasn't satisfied at all.

How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?

You sir, wrote an excellent scene in your story about this. I think they probably would have blown up. His mother did blow him up in a sense, in burning him off the family tree. They were probably furious, disheartened and embarrassed. Like he dishonoured them or something.

What is your favorite personality trait of his?

I don't think I could choose just one trait. All of it just works together to create this funny, loyal, slightly arrogant person. It just all fits.

Well, that's all I have for now. It was a great idea to start this club, and I love the name you chose biggrin.gif

Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
okrhoghsrgjnsrlkgnsldkngs NO. I hated it. Hate hate hate hate. I thought it was stupid. Some people liked Harry screaming in silence...eh. Just wasn't really my thing. I felt like Harry should have been much more angry after it happened. I really was looking forward to him yelling at Dumbledore because I thought that was a really passionate scene. But nooo.

What is your favorite personality trait of his?
I think I just like the whole package. He's arrogant, but somehow he's still kind of grounded. He can be mean-spirited, but all in all he's a really caring guy and he's a great friend. smile.gif
Alicia Jonae
Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
Absolutely not! I think it was wrong that JK killed him off in the 5th book. Harry had just met him in the 3rd and they've hardly had anytime together. I mean, how would you feel if you met pretty much the only family you had (apart from the Dursley's) and he/she got killed 2 yrs later?

How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?

I have to agree with that. If Sirius was my brother growing up, I would've probably noticed something odd about him, like he wasn't meant to be apart of the family. I mean really, look how he acts when he is around the Weasley's; it's like he was born to be apart of that family, really!

What is your favorite personality trait of his?
Honestly, I don't know! He's just one of a kind smile.gif

What is your favorite personality trait of his?
I answered a quiz recently which had a similar question. I said I admired his loyalty to his friends and his perseverence.
Droobles, I agree with arrogant but I think he matured a lot in adult years. His hint of arrogance is something that makes him such an appealing character for me, I really don't know why biggrin.gif
Alicia Jonae, you really summed him up well - one of a kind! And that's why we love him! wub.gif

Where you satisfied with sirius' death?
In agreement with most everyone, nope!
Sirius
should not have died at all. He should have lived to see
Harry's children, James' grandchildren. He really should have.

What is you're favorite personality trait of his?

Mrs. Rowling once described him as a "Rascal", that is perfect. His

Ok I have come up with a competition.

Write a poem about Sirius in which you celebrate what you personally love about him most.

There will be a week to submit entries starting from 3am GMT +1hr (standard European time) and will end in a week from now at 3am on Tuesday morning 27th January.

After that, there will be one week in which members will vote for their favourite entry. At the end I will count up the votes and announce the winner.

To vote, post your choice with a some feedback about what you like about the poem and why you voted for it.

Any style is welcome, any tone whether it be humorous or serious. This competition is for fun but also a chance to show your appreciation for our favourite Marauder.

There will be a prize - oh yes a prize! I will make an animation of the winning poem and I will post the link in this thread for all to see. It will be a gif animation so the winner can post it as a signature if they wish as it will be in VTM signature format.

So let's hear those quills scratching at the parchment and happy writing all!
BRoyals
Oooh. Sounds like a fun contest. I just so happen to have my entry right here. It is a villanelle style poem. I couldn't really choose one single personality trait, so I used a bunch of them. It is mostly about his bravery though. Anyways, hope you like it!

The wonderful Sirius Black
Always uncommonly brave
Had to be there when they sounded the attack

When on the run must live in a shack
And then later a cave
The wonderful Sirius Black

Still leading on, not turning back
He was no simple a knave
Had to be there when they sounded the attack

When in friendship there came a crack
His loyalties would never wave
The wonderful Sirius Black

His personality hits you with a smack
Of shyness he never was slave
Had to be there when they sounded the attack

And when trouble came with the pack
He laughed, but still was quite grave
The wonderful Sirius Black
Had to be there when they sounded the attack

There it is! It is kind of long, but I like it, and I love writing in this style of poetry.

~Kel
harryjpotter
wow fabulous Kel, I really enjoyed that!
There's rhythm in there, your rhyming is really good. Your use of a three-line stanza structure is unusual but this adds to the fun of the poem.
I really like how you used multiple traits, you've done a really good job of summing Sirius up!
Well done Kel for your hard work and for also getting the ball rolling with your brave first entry.

Ohhhh this'll be a hard one to decide!

P.S. for an idea of my animating style take a look at Mama Doe's avatar which I made specially for her as a welcome to the forums and because she rocks. I love animating gifs so I'm really looking forward to making the winning poem into motion!

I also take great pride in welcoming Mama Doe to Veritaserum - hugs hugs and more hugs!!!

Awww thank you blush.gif I'd like to enter this competition but first, is there date by which all entries must be posted?

Now to this game:

Hi! I'm joining the club. May I have the honour of choosing the first question? I have a few in my mind at the moment.

1.) Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
2.) How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?
3.) What is your favorite personality trait of his?

1.) Definatly not, it was a weak way to kill off a character and I think JK only did it to liven up or provide it as a shock tactic in what I considered the worst bokk of the series.
2.) I reckon his family would have wanted to disown him and that he would quite appily have let them, as he did having run away at 16.
3.)He is a daredevil and has a great sense of humour.
mugglelovrspew
'Ello to all! I haven't been on because I've been busy. My first stop was to head to the Lounge (Club) Forums, when I happen to see... something for Sirius!? Oh my, I can't believe. Yes, I would love to join. harryjpotter, in any way I can, I would love to help with this club. You can PM me to let me know, if you want. Anyway, onward to the questions!

1.) Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?

Love to question, Kel. I will say no! The series wouldn't be the same, but no! Harry had just met him and hardly anytime was spent with him. You want to make a kid more demented, go kill off his godfather and only peace of family left! Sorry.... Well, anyway I think it was unecessary, but I like how she had Bellatrix kill him instead of anyone else. It was a little family revenge, so yeah.

2.) How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?

Well, for being a family of Slytherins and basically dark-wizardish people, I think they were pretty furious. I mean, we know his mother was mad, look what she did to her family tree. I think his brother was probably confused on what had gone so wrong with him. Regulus turned good in the end, and maybe he realized he had it in him, and wanted to be like Sirius. Haha, that's my thought.

3.) What is your favorite personality trait of his?

I think it would be his bravery. To stay in Azkaban for all those years, knowing you were innocent would be terrible, but to survive it. I guess that was more willingness to live and be sane. But, the way he cared for Harry and was willing to do anything for him. I guess there's so many. aagggghhhh! I can't decide.

I will work on the poem and put it up here later.

HarryPotterIsLife
*pokes head in* Hi, I'm Sam. And you have no idea how exicted I am that we finally have a Sirius thread! But before I answer the questions I have a question: Is this thread soley just for Sirius Black, or are we allowed to discuss the amazing actor who brought this beloved character to life?

Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
Yes and No. I mean, in a way his death did bring that emotional rollar coaster every Harry Potter book has. He died doing what he did best - flirting with danger. He fied saving his best friend's son - his godson. e was having a good time, he was out of Grimmlaud Place, he was fighting his own cousin. I think, in a sick twisted Sirius way he died happy. Though the viel was a very morbid place to die. That's really the only thing I didn't exactly like, he fell into a black hole of nothing. And Harry's reaction was a tad disapointing, but that's besides the point.

How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?
Well, given the clues JKR gave us throughout the series - they weren't happy. His mother burned his face off the wall when he turned sixteen, his brother and him were never close, and we never learn anything about his father. It was clear his family didn't like him, and he didn't like his family. When they discovered that he was sorted into Gryffindor I'm sure they made it very clear they were disappointed they didn't have another spawn of the devil in their family. Sirius was always too good for his 'pure blood' family anyways, so I'm sure he was fine with leaving.

What is your favorite personality trait of his?
I'd have to say his loyality to his friends. For so long Sirius wasted away in Azkaban for something Peter did, but never tried to turn him in. All through school he was by Lupin's side every full moon. He was James' best friend, he took care of Harry the few short years he could. He was overall a great person.

mugglelovrspew welcome to the Guild!!! Haha I loved your answer to the last question - I can't choose either so I just say enverything!!! I look forward to reading your poem!!!

HarryPotterIsLife, yaaaaays! welcome to the Guild also!!!! The thread is for anything about Sirius so feel free to discuss Mr Oldman. biggrin.gif I gather that you are a pretty big fan? Then tell us what you love about him best smile.gif
HarryPotterIsLife
Big fan is a smidge of an understatement, honestly. tongue.gif Sirius was one of my favorite characters in the series, and I'm a huge Gary Oldman fan!

I really loved him in Batman, espically the sequa lThe Dark Knight- but that could be because that movie is just amazing in itself. The first movie I saw of Oldman's was The Scarlett Letter (came out 1995, when I was three). And of course, he played just a good Sirius! I thought he did an excellent job, and I might have been a little judgmental about who would play him, because it's one of my favorite characters.

Another movie of Oldman's I cannot wait to see is The Unbourn, it looks very creepy. When I saw his face on the commercial I got very excited. Sort of a natural reaction when I see any of my favorite actors in commercials.

I'm still sad he won't be in this next movie, it's still sad to look online and not see his name in the Credits. And to think it won't be until the second part of DH when he gets to make an appearance. I'll just root for more Batman movies. smile.gif

Sam
harryjpotter
MAJOR BLOOMING JAW DROP!!!

I can't believe I sat through Dark Knight enjoying every moment NOT realising that Comissioner Gordon was played by Gary Oldman!!! Unbelievable!!! Well I suppose that is a mark of Oldman's talent that he is such a versatile actor.

Ok, now I can sort of see it.

I have to say I loved him in Bram Stoker's Dracula, but well who didn't biggrin.gif

To be perfectly honest, as much as I love Oldman, he really didn't do it for me in Harry Potter. He just isn't what I see when I read the books.
The films and books are the same stories but two different worlds and Oldman fits into the film world but he isn't Sirius for me in the films, rather a sort of replacement for Sirius. It's like they have cut Sirius from the films and pasted in a new character loosely based on the original character. He's too rigid in a sense. He isn't the daredevil of a godfather Harry knows in the books.
Mama_Doe
I was thinking, after the poetry competition, we could do a "Best Sirius" competition. All who enter can post a picture of what they think Sirius should look like, it could be in the form of photo's of actors, drawings or photoshop efforts. We could upload into a separte threadm anonymously and then cast votes smile.gif What do you think guys?
harryjpotter
Mama, that is a fabulous idea and you will have the honour of running it^^
I just finished a Sirius pic so ^^ yeah it's.. good by my standards so maybe I will enter that. Well ok so I still want to tweak a few things.
BRoyals
Hello new members! It is nice to have more Sirius fans in this little club. Though not little for very long wink.gif

I confess. I haven't seen Gary Oldman in any other movies. And if I have, well I didn't realize it. He is wonderful in the Harry Potter movies, so I can imagine what a great job he would do in other roles.

That sounds like a fun contest! After the poetry one, of course. Am I still the only one with an entry?

I sort of see where you are coming from, but I like the Sirius they have in the movies. I think they made him more solid because it is the only father figure Harry has in the books, and I think they wanted someone more rigid for him to confide in. Either way, it works for me.

~Kel

Looks like it Kel, I suppose I ought to post something too^^

I still have my tail between my legs about that Gary Oldman thing.
Kel, I hadn't thought about Sirius being more of a father figure in the films, I reckon you're right about that. I just burst into tears everytime the man I see on screen is not the Sirius I see in the books. I suppose it could have been worse... they could have got Tom Cruise to play him... 'you're a jerk! Scientology Harry, you aren't a wizard, you're a scientologist Harry'.
Ok so I have a load of Tom Cruise films and I used to love him as an actor but lately...

There isn't anyone like Sirius so I guess that's why they could never cast him perfectly. Well I'm glad it's Oldman and no one else I suppose.
Mama_Doe
I have a poem biggrin.gif

Midnight hair falls in waves
Eyes as stars twinkle and gleam
Heart burns bright and true
As the dog star radiant he shines

Noble character possessing virtue
Misunderstood character, possessing valour
Complex character, why so reckless?
Contentment failed in your life

Farewell great heart who suffered so
A new world beckons
Traverse through wind and time
Perhaps you'll peer through our window one day
harryjpotter
Aw wow! I loved that! So sweet! It makes me miss Sirius even more *sniff sniff*
It's written with feeling, with emotion which is rare in a poem these days. You got his physical attributes perfectly and his character too^^

Waahhhh!!! You guys are doing this on purpose aren't you??? Making my job hard just to torment me... and all the other poor folk who have to vote.
mugglelovrspew
I love your guy's poems! They're amazing. If only I could write like that. Does it matter how long the poem is and what kind? I've been working on mine and hopefully will have it up later tonight.

I think the picture contest is a wonderful idea. I pictured Sirius so much differently than what they had Gary Oldman look like in the movies. And, I never did realize he played the commissioner in The Dark Knight, until a while ago. Whenever we watch it now, my brother goes, "You're missing Sirius!" Haha. I really like him in that, but I haven't seen him in much else.
DeSs
Hey there, canine lovers! biggrin.gif May I join to this interesting club? I can't say I'm soo in love with Sirius, that I'm deadly in love with him, but I really like this character, his traits, how he came to Harry's life and the role he played there, and I don't agree with his death!
To answer the questions:

Were you satisfied with Sirius' death?
Obviously, I'm not. He didn't deserve to die in such a way, like an awful joke. Bellatrix killing him? Why her? Why like that? He deserved to be part of Harry's life at least for a longer while, deserved to find a challenge and forget all his suffering. U-n-f-a-i-r.

How do you think his family reacted to him being in Gryffindor?
His family would have been extremely outraged and I think from that moment on, his mother already pretended he wasn't a son of hers anymore. And all his family as well. I think the only one who was glad was that uncle of him biggrin.gif

What is your favorite personality trait of his?
His humour, his strong desire and instinct of survival and above all, his loyalty to his friends.

I don't know if it's been posted already:
And what about your least favourite traits?
I think his rancour and his reluctance to forgive, and yes, his arrogance.

And the second question made me think of another:
How do you imagine was Mr Black, Sirius' father?

In regards to Gary Oldman, I saw him in Bram Stoker's Dracula, he rocks! It's a very interesting story, I strongly recommend it.

Oh, a poetry contest is great! The poems are brilliant. And the "Best Sirus" Competition sounds awesome! I wish I was a good drawer. But can I search for fanart I've liked and thought was similar to my imagination? Because the Sirius Black I had in mind was very different from Gary Oldman's, despite I like him though biggrin.gif
harryjpotter
DeSs welcome to the Guild! You don't need to be obsessed but an appreciation of Sirius helps^^

For the Sirius-a-like competition it can be any picture at all as long as it is a serious attempt to take part and isn't rude or indecent in any way. It can be a celebritiy you think would make an ideal Sirius or fan art or whatever you can find.

The competition will run after the poetry competition is over so you have some time yet. Mama_Doe will be running the Sirius-a-like compeition so look out for a post from her soon!
mugglelovrspew
I've given up. I just can't write poems. I really want to, but I don't have much talent in that area. Poems are not my strong point; I could write a story instead, but anyway. Just to let you know, harryjpotter has just "appointed" me as the official Sirius Scientia Custos or "Keeper of Knowledge" of SDPG. One thing I have been doing is reading up a lot of information about Sirius and his family history and things of the such on the Harry Potter Wikipedia Site.

I've been thinking of ideas to get more activities going, so I'll let you know when that happens if I can come up with anything once I run it by harryjpotter. I love this club, hehe.

Kiersten
BRoyals
Welcome Dessi! Good to have you here. Are you in every single club? laugh.gif

Keirsten- it's good to know you tried. I know! You could do a description poem. I wrote one about Christmas in the poetry thread- you basically make a list of points about a certain thing. The only rule is it has to start with "Who is Sirius?" and end with "That is Sirius" for example. It doesn't have to rhyme or anything. happy.gif

And what about your least favourite traits?

Perhaps that he was so willing to risk his life so soon after he became close to his godson. That part upset me. That isn't exactly a personality trait though. Maybe his impulsiveness and his thrill-seeking gene.

How do you imagine was Mr Black, Sirius' father?

Pro Wizards. Pro Pure-Blood. Pro Black. I think he would be stern and a pure-blooded maniac. He would be very strict, and a bit controlling, though not as extreme as Mrs. Black.

~Kel
mugglelovrspew
Hmm, I'll try that instead. When are they due? I forget. I can put it up here anyway I guess.

And what about your least favourite traits?

Perhaps sort of what Hermione had said, where he was trying to live through them. Supporting the DA, and kind of putting Harry in danger. I do agree with some of the Order, but not to Mrs. Weasley's extent. I think Harry was too young on some things, and Sirius shouldn't have confused him too much with James.

How do you imagine was Mr Black, Sirius' father?

Definitely strict, like Kel said, Pro prue-blood, maybe trying to connect with Sirius a little more since he was in Gryffindor and trying to make him like the rest of the family.
harryjpotter
Ok so a few folk haven't been able to post a poem yet so I'm extending the deadline to next Tuesday instead which is 3rd of Febuary.

Keirsten Why not try an acrostic? It's a poem too, or a haiku^^ for example

Haiku:

I love Sirius
The marvelous Mr Black
He is so much fun

Acrostic:

Se habere ac se gero
Imber furibundus
Re vera nos
Idoneus amo
Unus pectus
Servus causa ac deinde abeo

translation:
To keep himself and carry on
A furious storm
In truth he lives
Worthy and capable of great love
One heart
Slave to the cause and then to pass from life

VALENTINES CHALLENGE!!!!

Ok another thing for those who love to write^^
Come up with a short fanfic about how Sirius spends his Valentines day and who he goes with if he gets a date. It can be a made up character for the date or someone already in the series.
If you submit one, post a link here in this thread so others can find it^^ And remember to post in the one shots fan fiction forum:
http://www.veritaserum.com/forums/index.ph...m=124
DeSs
Geez, I couldn't get to Vtm yesterday! unsure.gif
Thanks for the welcome, guys. Hey there, Kel!! Yes, apparently I've joined to a lot of clubs... can't help it tongue.gif

harryjpotter, do you speak ... what's that Latin? It's great, and you made that up brilliantly! Well, I'll see if I can come up with an acrostic at least, but I'll definitely have to have a try on the Valentine's contest! The only piece of fanfic I've written with Sirius was a J/L one-shot, where he's got a nice part, but I haven't finished it anyway.

Since I see this thread is going to have great contest and the people here is very imaginative and talented (as I think), why don't we hold a Something of the Month? I've just read that you're planning a little surprise for the winner, harryjpotter, and I must say ... Oh my! Well, if we hold something like that, it could be named ... Sirius Kickside of the Month laugh.gif

I forgot to say, if there's any staff position vacant, and you want me to help, I'm here! I take part of all the clubs but never really help tongue.gif Oh, what am I doing? I make the avies for the UHFC, that's a honor! happy.gif
Mama_Doe
Hey Guys, thats a good idea to have a monthly competition of some sort, devoted to Sirius of course biggrin.gif For the picture contest I think we should just make it Sirius as a human and after that we can have a separate contest for pictures of Sirius as a dog.

HarryJ, I love the acrostic poem, I might try that sometime.
mugglelovrspew
harryjpotter, Latin? It's like really cool to read, but better when you understand it, haha. I like your haiku. smile.gif Okay, here it goes. Thanks for the help.

Sitting along the river bend line
I watch him as he licks his paw
Returning to his human form
I see his true self, playful, calm, caring
Under the Willow Tree he sits, without a care
Sirius Black is here for a day.

I don't really like it as much as I would of liked it. I've written better. Oh, yay, fanfic! I love writing these. I'll work on mine since today it was so bad and we didn't have school. So look for it!

Kiersten
DeSs
Yay, a Padfoot-a-like! Because ... that wasn't the dog I had imagined, either. Did that changed of dog from PoA to OotP? They seem a little different to me. Is it a Giant Schnauzer? I love those dogs!
Kiersten (I didn't know your name!), I love your acrostic, about the Padfoot and not the Sirius wub.gif
I wrote mine in Spanish, if it's ok, but there goes the translation:

Su atronadora risa
Insiste en quedarse;
Resonando en los rincones,
Impidiendo su olvido,
Urdiendo otros planes; de
Sueños, fugitivo.

Translation:
His thunderous laughter
Insists on remaining;
Echoing in every corner,
Forbidding the oblivion,
Scheming some plans; of
Dreams, runaway.

It doesn't rhyme, and if somebody by chance knows Spanish (very well), you'll see it's not verbatim, I adapted it happy.gif
I've got my plot for the fanfic, but seems a bit tricky and riddiculous, and already thought of my Sirius-a-like!

Now, if I may do the honors... I'm the new Sirius Verbum Virtus, which means that I'll pick up your nicest phrased statements of the month happy.gif I'll try to choose one for this month already, so ... share those thoughts!
mugglelovrspew
I love it DeSs! It's really good and thanks. So, is your name really Dess, or is it something else? And kudos to you. I just though of another question to get us going again.

Who do you feel Sirius was closest to that was actual family?

There is research you can do with this, because there's some truth to it, and I know the main part of the answer. But I want to see your guys' reasoning. So, let's get it started!
DeSs
Thanks to you to! happy.gif Haha, actually my name is Desiré, but now everybody here call me DeSs or Dessi biggrin.gif Feel free to call me whatever you like!

Who do you feel Sirius was closest to that was actual family?
I know that! I half-settled that answer in my first post here: it was his Uncle Alphard! (I searched for his name 'cause I didn't remember) He gave money to Sirius when he moved from his home at the age of 16. Is that right?

I've already looked up for your quotes, guys, and I must say ... that it's going to be a hard decision! I've chuckled so much.

And already know who'd be my Sirius smile.gif

Edit: You've got to check this out: http://cippow25.deviantart.com/art/Sirius-Flight-24568405, it's so cute! I could make an avie from it, for it's so sweet! Look at Harry, waving his chubby hand!
harryjpotter
Aw guys you make me so proud! wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Kiersten I loved that poem, it's absolutely beautiful!!! I loved the transition from dog to man^^ particularly the line beginning with I, it was beautiful and says a lot about our favourite marauder. and I'm really sorry, I misspelt your name before.... sad.gif
And Dessi, the spanish was great^^ I did some spanish at school but not enough to write somethnig like that^^ I loved it! And don't worry that it doesn't rhyme, it's lovely anyway. I loved the last line in particular because it really describes Sirius for me . somehow Sirius and dreams go together. smile.gif

Mama, that's a great idea, and since you're in charge of that competition, well hey it's your decision biggrin.gif

Dessi, I also have to say I loved that link^^ it's adorable wub.gif

EDIT: ok so I was thinking about the Siriusly disappointing lack of Jo's imagination to stretch as far as giving Sirius a birthday so I will be celebrating the 19th of September as Sirius day^^ for the sad fact that I already celebrate quite a lot on that day^^ Also, that's when I wrote his birthday into my fanfic, as having his birthday on that day. So in this thread I will celebrate Sirius Day on 19th September ^^ anyone care to join me?
Mama_Doe
Thanks HarryJ, I'm looking forward to hosting the comps.
Those are lovely poems Kiersten and Dessi, this poetry contest is going to br great but it will be very hard to choose a winner, they are all so good.

On an off topic note, HarryJ your signature is Lolol laugh.gif

Who do you feel Sirius was closest to that was actual family?
I know that! I half-settled that answer in my first post here: it was his Uncle Alphard! (I searched for his name 'cause I didn't remember) He gave money to Sirius when he moved from his home at the age of 16. Is that right?

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. I'll reveal what answer I feel they are stating after we have a little biot more participation. Anyway, I almost have finished my fanfic, but I had to leave my mom's and it's on her computer. So, it'll hopefully be up tonight.

Thanks for liking my poem! And I agree, I love your signature harryjpotter! I do have a question, what's your real name harryjpotter? I like using real names instead of screen names because it's sort of weird, especially in clubs. If you don't wanna say, that's fine. I do have a question though. Are we going to do like a "Sirius Devotee of the Month" thing? I think someone might of mentioned it somewhere back there, but I don't remember. If so, can I suggest a cool name we could use?
DeSs
Thanks guys blush.gif I hadn't written a poem since ... a weird, unpublished R/Hr poem-like-song-like-tale I don't know what was it made for... huh.gif

I know! I'd like to draw cute stuff, but somehow I'm an awful self-critic and think everything I draw is horribly creepy. tongue.gif

On the 19th or on the 9th? I didn't get it, because you wrote it twice. But I think it must be the 9th, because Hermione's on the 19th. I'm up to it! happy.gif

Yay, your siggy had me chuckling!

I've been thinking of more questions:
1) Had Sirius regretted something of what he's done, what do you think it would have been?
2) Who do you think ships the best with Sirius? I promise, I won't get angry if you say Hermione, or even if it's slash.
3) What're your opinions about Sirius and love? How do you picture him in regards of girls?
4) Had he lived longer, do you think he would have, eventually, found love?
5) Are there any songs that remind you of him?

I personally want to answer the last question, because last night I stuck my headphones to my ears to find a song amongst mine that could remind me of him, and indeed I did. (I'm a music-weirdo-about, that's why I have the need to fit everything into a song laugh.gif) If you may let me, I'd like to explain a bit:

Losing my Religion - REM

Oh, life is bigger
It's bigger than you

I think it's about Sirius and Harry, it's that everybody makes a fuss about Harry when there're a lot of more important things to do at the moment, besides Harry is important to him, but not in the way everybody thinks.

And you are not me

And you're not me, well, Sirius tried to live through Harry somewhat, as you've said before.

The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up.

Sirius had to travel and go through quite a few miles to get to Harry, and when he did, he found a boy full of wrong hatred towards him, and somewhat, Sirius is always spilling too many beans on the table for Harry, more than everybody else think it's good.

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight, I'm
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

He was a prisoner, all the eyes were upon him, and he escaped, and looked for Harry, and kept an eye on him until the day he was murdered. He ran a lot of risks to be with Harry, and it made him happy when he saw his best friends' son was happy.

Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

That makes me think of when he was on the run, and when he finally had to choose, forced by Lupin, what to tell to Harry about the truth. He was hurt, and lost, and blinded, because of the rage of all those years locked up in a prison, on the shoes of the real murder.

Consider this
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream
Just a dream, just a dream
Dream

It tells about when they thought they could be together, Harry could have his godfather back, a figure of a father with him again, and Sirius could remember James, and they could get back the life they deserved, but everything was ruined at last.

Away from the Sun - 3 Doors Down

It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
Can anyone do what I've done
I missed life
I missed the colours of the world
Can anyone go where I am

'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun again
Away from the sun again

I'm over this
I'm tired of living in the dark
Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone
There's nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I've known

'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun
That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun
That shines the life away from me
To find my way back into the arms
That care about the ones like me
I'm so far down, away from the sun again

It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
And now I can't do what I've done

[...]

I think there's not really need to explain this one, as it's pretty obvious: his view from Azkaban, and the horrors he had to bear; how he had to be there, feeling himself almost a living dead, in the wrong place, plucking out the courage to survive and finally escape.

Dig - Incubus

We all have a weakness
But some of ours are easier to identify.
Look me in the eye
And ask for forgiveness;
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again
Yes you are my friend.
We all have something that digs at us,
At least we dig each other
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
We all have a sickness
That cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how hard we try.
We all have someone that digs at us,
At least we dig each other
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song!
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
Oh each other....
When everything
Else is gone.

This reminds me of the Marauders, of the promise of keeping the Potters safe they must have done, of Pettigrew's betrayal, of Remus and Sirius, reunited at last ... Of a lot of things, to sum up.

Also Shine On, by Jet, is good, but I think it could apply to any other similar situation, so I'm not re writing it here. And that's all, otherwise you'd kill me laugh.gif

[Edit:] Godness! I just closed this and saw how long this turned out to be! shocking.gif And you're there, Kiersten! biggrin.gif Yes, names are pretty more interesting, so I agree with you. Well, I'd like to see more answers to that as well! And yes, I suggested it and there will be one running soon! I suggested Sirius Kickside of the Month laugh.gif

[Edit2, look here, look here!:] Happy birthday of who's?? Mine's on the 21st November tongue.gif
harryjpotter
Hey Kiersten, we already have the fabulous Kel appointed to finding a 'member of the month' and Dessi on club contribution of the month^^ If you have ideas regarding member of the month let Kel know, who is afterall in charge there smile.gif
Haha I supoose not everyone does latin, maybe I should put some descriptions besode the jobs biggrin.gif silly me.

Along the lines of my name, I'm a right little kid and I like to act, so call me whatever you want long as it's polite and so long as it is male. I will not take too kindly to something like 'Arabella Buttercup' however funny that may seem biggrin.gif but yeah, I'll let you choose, Kiersten since you mentioned it haha. Oh how I wish I was called Sirius. Such a cool guy^^ wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif Also, I'll make a funny animation for whoever can guess my real name^^

Mama I really have to agree, it's going to be ridiculously hard to vote. So I have a voting method as to keep votes private.
After Poem Submission closes next Tuesday, you will all have one week in which to vote. Originally I had intended you all just to post your vote in the thread, silly mees^^ So instead of that, I want you all to pm your vote to me and I will record them and post them as statistics after voting closes.

Arghhhh thanks Dessi for pointing that out. it be the 19th 19th and 19th of September. I know, it's Hermione's birthday too and and also the very happy birthday of yours truly not to mention International Talk Like A Pirate Day, so we'll have lots to celebrate! Oh I am terrible hehehe
BRoyals
Yup. I have my job, and I already kind of know who I think deserves it this month. whistling.gif
I'm not saying that I won't take suggestions though.

I'm just going to answer a couple questions right now. I have to go for lunch right away.

Had Sirius regretted something of what he's done, what do you think it would have been?

I don't see him as regretting anything. He seems like the kind of person who lives in the moment. If he did regret something though, I think it would be that he didn't spend enough time with his godson while they knew each other.

What're your opinions about Sirius and love? How do you picture him in regards of girls?

A ladies man. I think he didn't really care what he was doing or who he was with. I think he was just the cool guy that everyone admires and wants to be close to.

Ach. I can't concentrate. I need to eat. I'll edit this post when I have food in my system and my brain is functioning again laugh.gif

~Kel
harryjpotter
Naughty mees! Neglecting the fab questions, here goes^^

Had Sirius regretted something of what he's done, what do you think it would have been?
If he regretted anything it would be that he hadn't stayed the Potters' secret keeper. I think it is an incredible shame the way things turned out in Sirius's life. Jo was soooo mean to him!!! Well there would certainly be a lot of things others may regret in regard to Sirius, for example Harry regrets and the books reveal this, that he regrets the incident at thte Ministry which resulted in Sirius's death. I think Dumbledore may also have regretted keeping Sirius at Grimmauld Place which contributed to Sirius's desire to get out there and fight.

What're your opinions about Sirius and love? How do you picture him in regards of girls?
Hahahaha I love this question. You'll have to wait for the appropriate chapter in my fanfic for this mwuhahahahahaha!!!! laugh.gif
mugglelovrspew
Ahh!! I posted here this afternoon right after I got up, and I have a lot to reply to. I came up with more ideas for my fanfic and I think it's really funny, and I'm going to try to finish it. Does it matter when we have it up?

So Dessi, I too love to draw, but people are my worst. I'm getting better though, and am working on Sirius. I love the songs you chose, and they really do describe the situation. I totally didn't pay attention to the date. September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I completely forgot! We have to talk like pirates, so don't forget, hehe, but a day to celebrate is cool. Sirius Kickside of the Month, huh? I like it! We're so active in here today, and I'm glad. I'm going to answer some questions.

1) Had Sirius regretted something of what he's done, what do you think it would have been?

I think he actually stated this in PoA, but I think he would of regretted making Peter Secret-Keeper for the Potters. He basically gave his best friend a death sentence, and if he had known this would of happened, I know he wouldn't of done it. He had to live with that decision, but I would of never guessed Peter to be the one to turn to the Dark Side either, so. And I just realized harryjpotter said this, but I still agree. And if you believe in the after-life, I think that he hadn't spent as much time with Harry would definitely be a big regret.

2) Who do you think ships the best with Sirius? I promise, I won't get angry if you say Hermione, or even if it's slash.

Ummm, this is a hard one. Well, I can't think of anyone. He's pretty unique. I'm skipping this one, sorry.

3) What're your opinions about Sirius and love? How do you picture him in regards of girls?

I think that girls like rebels, to an extent. I mean, look at James and Lily. You have to read my fanfic once it's up, because it has to do with this a little; his romance, I mean, not James, really.

4) Had he lived longer, do you think he would have, eventually, found love?

I think had we meant a character that fit him, yes. As I said before, he's pretty unique, and I don't think anyone would of worked with him unless he found his "significant other."

5) Are there any songs that remind you of him?

The song Whatever It Takes by Lifehouse, in a way reminds me of him. The first part of it talks about hurting people and in a way, that could refer to James and Lily. And Sirius wants to turn his life around to be with Harry, and if you take it that way... I know it's probably more referring to an ex-girlfriend in their reference, but the way I'm interpreting it, it could be that way. I guess it just depends.

harryjpotter, that might help me. I tried translating them, and it confused me. Mine only made sense because I knew what it was, haha. It's okay. And I get to pick your name?! Yay! Sirius is a lovely name, my husband will probably despise my name-picking some day because I want to name half my children after characters from the series, hehe. I'm looking right now, but in one of your PMs, you ended it with Harry, and that could just be referring to your screen name, but is Harry your name?

Okay, well sorry my post is longish, but I wanted to get everything in. Well, I can't wait to see more poems. And just to let everyone know, I'm still wanting to see answers to the one question I posted which is Who do you feel Sirius was closest to that was actual family? I'll let you know what I found a close answer is once we have more participation, if we do.... Anyway.

Kiersten cool.gif
harryjpotter
Lol Kiersten, Harry isn't my real name^^
So what are you calling me then? Please be kind^^ hehe

I like what you said about the afterlife and Sirius regretting not spending enough time with Harry. I get the impression that Jo intended there to be an afterlife. When Harry turns the resurrection stone the shadows of his dead loved ones come back and they have their memories intact. Any opinions?
mugglelovrspew
Well, I thought I would take a shot. =p Umm, I'm not sure yet.
QUOTE

And, I guess I agree with this. But then, that confuses me with the Priori Incantatem, because James, Lily, and Cedric had their memories in tact there.... Hmm I don't know, sorry offtopic.gif Anyway, I think I'm going to call you......... Matt! That's the name I decided on, and it's not, like, girly or anything. Although, if you rather have Arabella Buttercup, haha just kidding.

I have a question. Do we know about many of the others young girls around Sirius' age who attended Hogwarts at his time except for Lily? Because, for my fanfic, is it okay if I create someone to fit my story because I can't think of anyone and Lily wouldn't work for it.
harryjpotter
Wahhhhh!!!! I prefer Arabella Buttercup over Matt, sorry but that name scares me for several reasons.... how about a Harry Potter related name? *looks at you with great big puppy eyes*

As for who was at Hogwarts at the same time as Sirius girl-wise the only other girl mentioned was Bertha Jorkins who was 'a few years above' James and Sirius as mentioned in GoF. I make them up to be honest.
mugglelovrspew
Oh, sorry.. I didn't realize, and I was thinking about Harry Potter names. I was going to say Sirius, but then I thought people might mix that up when we're talking about something.... Umm, how about Neville? I'm just shooting out one of my favorite guy names from the Sirius, just because I really like Neville. If not, you give me a list of names, and I'll choose one from that, okay?

And, that's good. Because I couldn't think of a character to use that I knew went at the time. MY character I created is sort of funny, in a way. I'm glad that I'm not the only one.
harryjpotter
haha ok here's a list:

Sirius
Sirius
and... Sirius! haha only joking. biggrin.gif

Hmmmm names I like....

Harry
Charlie
Arthur (hehe)
Arcturus (don't ask...)
Myrddin
Merlin
Midir
Vincent (biiig grin^^)
Acerbus
Aduro

^^ lol there you go wink.gif
mugglelovrspew
Arcturus??? Okay, I won't ask.... biggrin.gif Umm, these are the weirdest names(well some) I have ever heard. My 2 I narrowed down to were Charlie and Aduro, and I pick *drumroll* Charlie! That's what I'm officially going to call you now because I like that name.

Hey Kel, when will you tell us who deserves it this month? Just curious, and do you need any help with the avie? I'm not that good, but I can try.
harryjpotter
His eyebrows knotting together in a frown, Sirius whimpered pathetically, "I cant have hot chocolate without marshmallows."

Isn't that so blooming adorable???? It's from a fanfic I can't remember which one but it's sooooo cuteeeee wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif
mugglelovrspew
Ha, I like it Charlie. smile.gif I got my fanfic posted for all of you to read! Go -->here<--. Please and thank you; I can't wait to read the rest of your all's.
