I like everyyhing abot this book, its my favorite, and the part that i like most is the Christmas dance, when Mc Gonagall told Harry and Ron that they shuld get couples for the dance, when they see that Hermione is the couple of Vicky (like Ron calls him); I like the first battle with the hungarian horntail and all that, and I like the part when Voldemort gets back and take some blood from Harry! i was like ohh!!! if he do that he could finally touch Harry! that was confused!

I loved this book! It was great; I loved the Yule Ball, obviously people's favorites *points towards above posts*. Everything about it fits perfectly. All the clues were there, yet you didn't realize they were clues. I love how all the ends were tied at the end about Moody. I then went back and read the book to catch the clues I missed about Moody. Great book!

This is my favourite book! I have just read it and it was wonderful and very exciting!!! I liked the three tasks very much (I can't wait to see it on film!) and the third task was the most exciting... It was very sad though...Cederic dying and all... I cried a lot when I read that Harry's parents came out of Voldemorts wand.... I just felt so sad for Harry that he couldn't talk to them and all that... It was a great book!!!

That's my favourite bit of GoF, i don't know why, it just is. I never skip any of the book. My least favourite part is the second task, it just bores me.

Yeah I know! I can't wait to see it!!! But even if it seems like a long time to wait...I think it will come sooner than expected...because time goes so fast! I can't believe that it's nearly a year ago Lord of the Rings - Return of the King was in the cinema... I feel like it was almost yesterday when I saw the first LOTR movie!

I love this book soooooo much! What I like about it though is obviously so diferent than everyone else.
I liked the Tournament and the Third Task the most, because it led up to the scene with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, which was my second favorite part.
The Yule Ball was hilarious with the thing about Roger Davies and Fleur Delacoer in the bushes. THAT made for humor, along with Madam Maxmime and Hagrid dancing that made a gap, the bit about the Room of Requirment Dumbledore past when he found Chamber Pots, and how Angelina was asked to the Ball by one of the twins.
But my favorite chapter was "The Parting of the Ways". It started something that we were to be reading about the rest of the series, and so did "Flesh, Blood, and Bone". My favorite quote is found in the first chapter mentioned, and also in my signature.
Fudge was in some serious denial and after reading the last two chapters of the GoF and reading OotP, I suddenly understood what the whole thing was about. That's why I like the GoF so much anyway.

HP GoF is my favorite book!!! I don't know, but it had a lot of things going on, The Triwizard Tournament, The DADA classes, and so much more!

There are a lot of new and exciting characters as well!

And sooooo many surprises

! I think that the main reason I like it is the ending, I mean, how good can you get?

GOF is the best book in the series so far in my opinion. I love all of the magical creatures in it. My absolute favorite creature was the mermen. My favorite part in the book was when Harry had to try to get past the sphinx. I loved how the fourth book was so dark. Especially the graveyard scene. That was scary.

Wondered that at the end of the book when all the DE are in the graveyard with Voldemort. They all apparate to his side. How does Crabbe and Goyle apparate there when they are watchin the triwizard tournament, which is in Hogwarts grounds, which also means they can't apparate there.

How come this topic has just 2 pages??
GoF is the best book so far (almost tied with OotP) IMHO
there are so many things i like there..
The tri-wizard tournament is just awesome!
I love that JKR always lead us one way and we always get the wrong conclusion and at the end everything makes perfect sense...
I am currently re-reading it for 6th or 7th time
I am pretty sure that most of H/Hr shippers are not very happy with the book cause it gives a lot of evidence for R/Hr, lol
But anyways!
I love the fact that is full of action scenes and secrets are revealed, and we get to see lots of magical creatures
It's a great book!

well, the harry-voldemort duel is the best for me!
i think it's somhow scary & really terrifying!
but i think it is the best part!
it really tests harry's courage!
i also love the tasks
they're really challenging!
i also consider the yule ball one of the best!
i think they're all awesome there!
& i can't really wait for the movie!
but what i only hate in the book is.......
i really can't believe that fake moody!
well, moody is really one of the best DADA teachers!
the only problem is..... he's fake!
but gof book is really nice!

GOF is my FAVORITE favorite book! I LOOOVE the Hermione+Ron+Krum love triangle!!! The development of Ron's and Hermione's relationship isn't really addressed in OotP coz the is so much other stuff going on, but I hope Rowling lets something happen in HBP!!!!
Also, Snape is my favorite character and you get know him so much more in GOF. Harry gets to know him too.
"Further along the table, sitting next to Professor McGonagall, was
Snape. His eyes lingered on Harry for a moment as Harry looked at
him. His expression was differcult to read. He looked as sour and
unpleasant as ever. Harry continued to watch him, long after Snape
had looked away."
He has such a cool character! I don't think he is as evil seems. I looove him!
But I do have a question about it. In the fifth book Harry sees the "horses" that pull the carriages at Hogwarts because he saw Cedric die but at the end of the fourth book the book says.
"Hermione turned away, smiling at the horseless carriages that
were now trundling toward them up the drive..."
Why can't Harry sees them then and can see them at the beginning of the next book??
Any Suggestions???MOD EDIT : I'd suggest you take some time to read the forums rules before you post further. Netspeak is not allowed ("cuz" should have been "coz" or "because"), neither is excessive characters (e.g. exclamation marks). If you wish to accentuate on certain words, try using bold/italics instead. Your post has been edited.

This is my favorite book out of the series and in general. Its fantastic!! I love the adventure and the fight between Harry and Ron (so happy they put that into the movie, not that I like them fighting but its interesting

). Oh and the reason why harry didnt see the "horses" in GOF is simply because JKR didnt want to start off a whole new topic at the end of a book. Thats what she said.
MOD EDIT : Hiya, welcome to the forums!! Please take the time to read through the forums rules before posting further. Netspeak is not allowed - "o" should have been "oh". Your post has been edited.

I like the book. It is a very climatic one. I like the scene where in Dumbledore is making his last announcements and what he said about Cedric Diggory. It made me cry. I never thought reading Harry Potter books would make me cry but I did and I owe it to that scene.
And of course, as a R/Hr supporter, the whole thing that happened between Ron and Hermione. And of course, the whole Triwizard Tournament. They are all exciting.

Well, SO far I haven't seen any discussion on this topic. Only one person asked a question, why Harry was not able to see the Thestrals in GoF, even after he saw Cederic die. So let me try to pick up on that.
I read some where that this is probably because the fact of death has to sink in to the witness's mind. It is not just witnessing the death. It is the subsequent realization when one comes to grip with the reality, that makes Thestrals visible to the wizard's eyes. After the tournament, Harry was in a state of shock, and Cederic's death had not fully sunk in.
In OoTP, he has had two months to think about it, have nighmares about it, and the death has become real to him.
Well, I know this theory isn't waterproof. I mean, so when exactly is that, 1 week, 2 weeks? I don't know. That is the best explanation I have come across though..

Firenze, this thread is meant for a general discussion on GoF. You know, like what you think of the overall plot, and which part do you like best, etc... the point you add there about why Harry cannot see the Thestrals can be discussed properly
here instead.
Now, please get back on topic, thank you!

the yule ball is a little overplayed. I don't think it's the best part of the book. My favorite is the graveyard scene, but I also like the tasks. [SIZE=7]

This is my favorite book not because of the ball and the tournament but because it starts the war itself. This book is the beginning, as the last chapter says, of the Second Wizarding War. It's AWESOME. And it's just a complete and utterly well-written book, and it's my favorite because it's well-written and because of the action and blooming romance.

I love the fourth book, but there is one thing that has been bugging me since i read it. It has to do with the scene where Voldemort's wand and Harry's wand connected. Dumbeldore told Harry that this can happen when the wands brother meets each other. He also said that everything comes out in reverse. So this is where i began to question that scene.
They come out of his wand in this order, Wormtails new arm, Cedric Diggory, The Grounds Keeper for the Riddle House, Bertha Jorkins, James Potter, then, Lily Potter. More would have come out but the connection was broken.
Well think about it, the order from oldest to newest was, James Potter, Lily Potter, Bertha Jorkins, Grounds Keeper, Cedric Diggory, then Wormtails new hand.
SO why did, James come out before Lily when he was killed first??
Of course it could just be a mistake, but i dont think J.K. Rowling makes mistakes when it comes to stuff like this, plus i could have something totally wrong. Well anyways it has been bugging me, i hope someone has an answer.

Hi cantwait.
If your book says that, and good pick up by the way

then you have one of the rare first print editions where Jk did make a mistake and it was fixed in later printings. So hang onto it, Luky You

THe fourth book has been and is still my favorite book. I think part of why I like it is because there is a lot of mystery in the book but most if not all of it is answered at the end, which leaves me pretty satisfied. The only part I don't really like is the yule ball, I always end up skipping that chapter in spite of boredom. I mean, I was surprised the first time I read it that hermione got the famous quidditch guy but it is a little much seeing as in real life schools have dances and stuff all the time. I also don't like the movie making a big deal of the ball but thats a whole different subject...

i didn't like in the fourth book how cedric dies! i mean, he's a newly introduced character and suddenly he's gone! i would have loved to see him in upcoming books. i also have a question...why doesnt voldemort just kill harry with an unforgiveable curse!? not like i want harry dead (i love harry) but i mean it would be so easy. and i know harry is like protected by stuff like his mother's love or voldemorts not strong enough, but come on! just get it over with

Hi! I need to post this question and I'm hoping I'm in the right place. Recently I Googled Images for Harry Potter. I was scrolling through and on page 32 last row of pictures, second picture from the left, I came upon a movie still of Harry infront of the Riddle Headstone in Goblet of Fire.
What I saw written on the headstone really puzzled me. This is what was written.
Thomas Riddle
1880 - 1943
ry Riddle (You couldn't see the rest of the name because
1883 - 1913 Harry is standing infront of it)
Tom Marvolo Riddle
1915 - 1943
OK, so Thomas Riddle I am assuming is LV's father he died in 1943? He was 63 yrs. old.
--ry Riddle (whoever that is) died in 1913 he/she was 30 yrs. old.
I don't know who that could be. Dose anyone?
And then the shocker! Tom Marvolo Riddle died in 1943! Isn't that Lord Voldemort? I thought he was born in 1927. Someone help me because I'm really confused.
