Don't worry! I asked for mod approval before starting this group and now we're set to go!

This group is for anyone who can appreciate Lucius Malfoy. You don't have to be obsessed like me. wub.gif This group is for you if you like anything about him. Do you like his beautiful voice? How about his gorgeous blond hair? Even if you just have a thing for bad boys, join this fan group.

I can't wait to get all this started!

If you join (and I hope you do) feel free to share ideas on how to celebrate Lucius' sheer awesomeness or add L.O.L to your signature. smile.gif

I have to say, I love the name you came up for it! laugh.gif Great acronym!

Hmm, I'm not sure what else I have to say about Lucius since I'm not a super fan of his, but how about this question?

What do you like the most about Lucius? What do you dislike the most about him?

I hope that helps! smile.gif This is a good idea, he needs a fan club, too. wink.gif
acidpop
Eisa, thanks for the encouragement!

I'd have to say my favorite thing about Lucius is the way he is a strong head of his family. He really does provide everything he can for his family and tries to hold up as much respect for the Malfoy name as possible. He does what it takes, even if that fills others with fear. On a more shallow level I love his long hair and serpent cane. smile.gif I can't help but dislike how he tortures people though. I don't see how that's really necessary, but I accept his *ahem* darker interests.
ChannelingGinny
I love Jason Isaacs' portrayal of Lucius! I think that's what makes him appeal to me (in the same way that Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape appeals to me)! I loved his flowing blonde hair (and I am NOT a blonde-type of person, usually go for the brunettes!) and his smooth way of dealing with situations, especially those that he KNOWS he's guilty of!

I did not care for Lucius until DH when you realize all he is doing is for his family. Prior to that, I saw him as an egotistical, evil person and thought he got whatever he deserved. Even LV realized that Lucius' actions were fueled by his love/concern of his family.

But, yeah, Jason Isaacs.... wub.gif
zwillo
Yay! A Lucius thread! I was just thinking a couple of days ago that there should be a thread for him. I didn't really know how many people would be willing to join, but I suppose now we shall see. tongue.gif

I agree with acidpop;

And I can't say it better than that!

I also agree with Kathleen, I think Jason Isaacs is the absolute perfect person for the part. I love his eyes, the hair (even if it is only a wig), his voice. . . blush.gif

Again, Kudos, acidpop for this thread!

Thanks Danya and Kathleen!

Danya, I'm really happy that someone else feels that Lucius deserves his own thread.

I feel like I should make this clear for anyone else who comes into the thread, this group is also totally open to members who just like Lucius for how he's played for Jason Isaacs. You all also appreciate his charm. smile.gif

I have a question for you all,

If Draco had died during the final battle, how do you think Lucius would have lived his life after that? How do you think he would change?

Also,

Do you think Lucius would want Draco's children to be raised the same way he was raised or would he want them to be more open-minded since they would be living in a completely different world?
Sister to the Dark Lord
Yay, acidpop! This is great!

I'll add a link to my siggie as soon as I can (this particular computer won't let me change my signature/profile, check owls, etc).

LOL, I love the name, pun intended! (I know, I have terrible "jokes")
acidpop
Thanks for the support, Sister to the Dark Lord. I appreciate it. biggrin.gif

I can't wait till this group gets more established and we can do fun Lucius activities. I know that he isn't a very popular character but I'm hoping that there are more fans than I realized. I'm very excited about all this.

This may not be very thrilling at first, but I'll always appreciate anyone who joins. We don't discriminate based on age, race, gender, religion here at L.O.L haha. tongue.gif
kitten72
acidpop, love the idea for the Lucius group and an awesome name btw

If Draco had died during the final battle, how do you think Lucius would have lived his life after that? How do you think he would change?

I can’t imagine Lucius changing much. I think he would have made every effort to have more children because he felt a strong obligation to have a Malfoy heir. I guess the biggest change would be that he would have to find a new wife and the smartest thing to do politically would be to marry a half-blood or a muggle born deliberately. Lucius may have been a concerned dad for Draco by book 7 but he wouldn’t have stopped being a Slytherin (meaning Lucius would do what’s best for Lucius) or pursuing a political advantage.

Do you think Lucius would want Draco's children to be raised the same way he was raised or would he want them to be more open-minded since they would be living in a completely different world?

I think Lucius would have stayed as true to his personal beliefs as possible while adapting for success. I don’t know how a person can be a high ranking Death Eater for over twenty years and then suddenly deny pure blood superiority because the Dark Lord was defeated. He would simply conform for success and acceptance in society.
ChannelingGinny
Oooo. Good questions!

If Draco had died during the final battle, how do you think Lucius would have lived his life after that? How do you think he would change?

I really think Lucius would have changed had Draco died. Lucius had finally seen through all LVs schemes by that point and I think he was a bit relieved when LV was killed. Given Lucius' desperate attempts to find Draco during the final battle, I think had Drace been killed that that would have been the "nail in the coffin" so to speak of Lucius' association with the Dark Arts. He would still be a Slytherin, after all, so he would still do whatever he had to advance himself. Perhaps, to ingratiate himself with the non-DEs, he could set-up a scholarship or memorial fund in honor of Draco, something that would benefit those killed while defeating LV. I think Lucius would never give up his pure-blood-are-best belief, but he would pretend otherwise to save face in the wizarding world.

Do you think Lucius would want Draco's children to be raised the same way he was raised or would he want them to be more open-minded since they would be living in a completely different world?

Yeah, again, I don't see Lucius turning his back on his pure-blood status. I think he'd want Draco to marry a pure-blood and he'd want to be sure his grandchildren understood that their pure-blood status was important. HOWEVER, somehow I see Lucius has having slightly more tolerance toward half-bloods and muggle-born witches and wizards, given those were the ones that helped keep Draco alive. Perhaps his disdain and loathing for blood traitors would subside. I also see Narcissa being more tolerant of non-pure-bloods and exerting her influence over Lucius!
acidpop
Thanks for the responses! And kitten72 thanks for posting, welcome!

I'm very conflicted on whether Lucius would change. It's hard for me to imagine him as being too insensitive and I wonder if a lot of what he puts up is just an image. I like to think that he would encourage his grandchildren to be accepting of half-bloods and muggleborns if only to make their lives easier. I sometimes wonder how devoted Lucius actually was to the Dark Lords cause. I know he believed in pure blood superiority, but I'm not sure to what extent. I think part of it was he thought he could gain more power by following Voldemort.

So, I've been thinking since this is a group there needed to be some sort of policy for members. The way I look at it, if you post here then you're a citizen of the L.O.L nation. There is no need to have a more complicated member process. Though, I'd really appreciate if you put the group in your signature. smile.gif

Haha starting a new group has really been a daunting task for me with some groups having thousands of posts. I was inspired by S.O.S.S and maybe one day this group will be a success too. happy.gif
zwillo
If Draco had died during the final battle, how do you think Lucius would have lived his life after that? How do you think he would change?

I think he would have blamed himself for Draco's death, sort of as Snape blamed himself for Lily's death. I think he would have changed, who's life wouldn't be changed by the loss of their child? Especially if they felt it was because of them that their child had died. It would have caused a riff between he and Narcissa (I never sensed Narcissa as a true Death Eater type. I think she went along with it because she loved her husband and son. But I think she would have also blamed Lucius for his death), although I think they would have stayed married to save face in the wizarding world.

And although I do think he would have blamed himself for Draco's death, I also think he would have severed ties with his friends, he would know that there is a good possibility that it was one of them that actually cast the mortal spell at his son. And there is a possibility that he would give up the dark arts althogether, although I think that there is a greater possibility that he wouldn't give it up completely. It had been a part of him for the majority of his life. And old habits definitely die hard.

Do you think Lucius would want Draco's children to be raised the same way he was raised or would he want them to be more open-minded since they would be living in a completely different world?

Yes and no. I think his pure-blood superiority notion would still burn brightly inside of him, but since it would be a different world they were living in, I think he would swallow his opinions and let Draco raise his children how he saw fit.

But I can't help but think that whenever Draco wasn't in the room he would feed the child his own views, and hope that the seed would take hold. Because I think Draco would have been a bit more tolerant of half-bloods and muggle-borns because if it wasn't for Harry, Ron and Hermione he and Goyle would have joined Crabbe in death. And while Lucius may have accepted this and was extremely grateful, like I said in the above answer, his superior thinking had been burned into him since he was a child and he wouldn't give it up very easily.

He might get vocal in Draco's child rearing abilities however, if his grandchild showed any signs of wanting to get friendly with someone other than a pure-blood.

I would like to offer a question to be discussed.

Why does Lucius Malfoy hate Arthur Weasley so much?
Throughout the series there is an animosity between Arthur Weasley and Lucius Malfoy, why? Sure there are plenty of reasons for them to not like each other but I can't find anyway to tie those reasons together to justify the contempt they have for each other...what do you think?
zwillo
I think that it is mostly because of Arthur's love of Muggles. Lucius can't stand anything to do with Muggles. And Arthur doesn't like Lucius because of his pure-blood supremacy beliefs. I know it doesn't seem like it should be enough to justify the level of loathing, and it seems quite childish. But I don't think that it is anything other than that. But I could be wrong.

I think another problem could be that Arthur doesn't just bow down to Lucius. He won't just do whatever he tells him to do. I doubt Lucius would be fond of anyone who tried to mess with his authority. Also I'm sure he looks at the Weasley family as a waste of pure blood. They are from his perspective. Not to mention Arthur looks out for Harry and Hermione. Lucius probably hates that a mudblood is at the top of class, and Weasley as pureblood just stands by and lets it happen. I think all the factors build up into Malfoy wrath.

One thing I think is very interesting is that King Arthur killed Emperor Lucius by a blow to the head, and in Flourish and Bott's when they have a scuffle Lucius gets hit over the head with an encyclopedia. It's great the things hp lexicon will notice.

I have another question

What do you think Lucius does in his spare time in Malfoy Manor? When the Dark Lord disappeared for a decade he must have had time to kill. I doubt he spent all his time torturing muggles and paying off authority figures. What do you think he would do to pass the time?

I'm sure he would spend time reading books about dark magic, a subject he definitely needs to be up to date on. I like to think he did other things too. Maybe he really enjoyed flying. Draco was very good at flying when he first started at Hogwarts. Do you think Lucius taught him how to fly? Draco looks up to his father a lot, I think it could have something to do with how his father raised him. Although he's cold I'm sure he wanted Draco to be the best possible wizard. Oh and Lucius definitely spends time buying himself expensive, sexy dress robes. wink.gif

Oh and Danya, thank you for putting L.O.L in your signature! I appreciate it.

Well, we know that the Weasley's are "blood traitors", meaning that they like Muggles. The Malfoys, on the other hand, are one of the most loyal pureblood families. So there's that to contend with. Then, of course, Lucius will think that Mr Weasley has to be punished for liking Muggles, so he goes and makes sure that Mr Weasley has minimum wage work, with long hours, and abuses influences with the Minister to make life even harder. Now, not many people see Lucius's manipulating, so Mr Weasley's punishment continues with the fustration of having no one believe that Lucius is deliberatly doing these things to his own family, albeit disowned family.

Haha, I like to think that he spent his leisure time lounging at his swimming pool! At least it makes a pretty good mental picture. tongue.gif

I have another question. I was listening to DH today while I was at work this morning and in the first chapter LV suggested that the Malfoys had been "unhappy with their lot of late." My question is this;

At what point do you think that Lucius started regretting having his home as headquarters for the Death Eaters? And do you think it stemmed deeper than that? Do you think he actually regretted being involved with LV altogether?
acidpop

To be honest, Lucius didn't seem too pleased to me when LV first returned. I think he was relieved that he was no longer going to have to be in service. Also, when LV first returned Lucius didn't give him much credit. I bet he assumed he would leave as quickly as he returned. I think as soon as LV returned Lucius regretted it. LV's return interfered with his reputation. I think that was the worst thing. He'd gotten out of going to Azkaban once, what were the chances of it happening again? Also, he probably knew his son was in danger. I think that pushed him over the edge of regret, knowing that he couldn't do anything. His reputation was tarnished and before his son was even an adult he was being subjected to LV's ways. Lucius shared the pure-blood values LV did, but I don't think he ever would have taken it to the same extent. I think he would have been happy just living in a place where muggleborns were clearly second class. In fact I think it was important for him to have people that were lower than him to be around so he could boost his ego.

Dayna, you're so passionate about the Malfoy men. I love it. smile.gif Everyone should take a lesson in Malfoy appreciation from you.

You know what would be fun? If we went on a quest to find a man with platinum blond hair that was prettier than Lucius', cause come to think of it I've never seen/imagined better.
zwillo
Haha acidpop! Yes, I suppose I am passionate about the Malfoy men. blush.gif I wish I would have been sorted into Slytherin. dry.gif All of my favorite men are in Slytherin. . . Draco, Lucius and Snape. Gotta love those bad boys, eh? wub.gif

*grabs traveling cloak and ruck sack to go on acidpop's quest* haha. Or how about instead of going on a quest to find better hair, we just go on a quest to find Lucius and ask if we can pet him. happy.gif

Alright, so Sister to the Dark Lord was kind enough to offer to write a L.O.L Valentine's Day.

We could share ideas on what would make a good Lucius fan fic for this oh so special time of year. wink.gif

Of course, I would never object to reading if Lucius fic if you're so inclined to write one, but many already have fictions in progress/aren't a writer/etc.... Lucius is so handsome, he needs to be represented on Valentine's Day?

Any ideas? I haven't any right now, but I'm sure I will soon and I'll come back and edit my post.

Thanks again to Sister to the Dark Lord smile.gif
zwillo
ahh, I love the idea of a Lucius fanfic. I think it would most likely be the first on VTM!

Hmm. . . I have an idea in mind, that has the potential to be funny, but I don't know how to put it on paper, er, I mean screen. But I'll give it a shot. We could write about Lucius finally plucking up the courage to ask Narcissa out for a Valentines weekend in Hogsmeade. How did he ask her? What will they do? How many times will he make a fool of himself? Because after all, he had to have been a blundering, twitterpated teenager at one time, right? happy.gif

~Dayna
Sister to the Dark Lord
Your welcome, acidpop! It's my pleasure biggrin.gif

A Valentime's fanfic idea:

Lucius's and Narcissa's wedding day. Let's just pretend that it was on February 14th. Narcissa and Lucius having last minute fights over the colour of the streamers, and then maybe Lucius trips during the first dance. Y'know, just fill it with chaos, but everyone's happy in the end. Your reguluar fluff.

At what point do you think that Lucius started regretting having his home as headquarters for the Death Eaters? And do you think it stemmed deeper than that? Do you think he actually regretted being involved with LV altogether?

I think Lucius started regretting using his home as Death Eater HQ a week or two into the whole ordeal. To him, having a big house that not many people use, with an army of house-elves all to yourself is a show of power, but once everyone else starts using your house and house-elves, that power starts to fade. I think Lucius's displeasure was mostly the inconvenience, but at least some of it was the fact that the Dark Lord expected him to give over all control of his house and Lucius, who is a proud man, really hates doing that. That is most likely where he started regretting being involved with the Dark Lord, but he never really noticed how much he hated the man until he noticed Voldemort's sure grip on victory slipping away quickly.
kitten72
A valentine for acidpop to prove that I do think Lucius has a softer side even though I regularly give him a hard time. smile.gif

Silver white hair shimmered in the sunlight and broad shoulders stiffened as the wind picked up. The chill made him suddenly very aware of the mid February cold. Lucius made his way back to the Manor from the gardens, he had needed to escape for a bit to clear his head and get control of his emotions. Today was the day; his parents had paid a tidy sum to get him the bride of his choice. Those ridiculous Blacks actually thought he should take Bella because she was older, nonsense, that woman would only bring heartache to any man who tried to love her.

Love was what he needed. A sweet gentle love, something to balance all the ugliness he had a feeling he was going to see in his life. Politics was nasty business and as good as he was at playing mind games, at home he wanted to be free of them. He had much work to do as a young man; his choice in wife would make all the difference. Narcissa had always understood his deeper feelings behind his mask. Yes, he had chosen well. He had found beauty, grace, loyalty and intelligence in Narcissa Black.

She would keep him intrigued for years to come and would surely provide him with a worthy heir. He just knew they would have beautiful brilliant children. What his father had seen as a duty he would make his own great joy, a woman to love and children to praise. Money and power would always be his as a Malfoy, he wanted what other Malfoy’s had overlooked. By the time any of the passion he and Narcissa felt for each other might begin to wan he was certain it would be replaced by a deeper devotion. Yes, she had been the right choice, Cissa would ground him. So soft and fragile, she had such quiet strength.

Pausing just outside the Manor, he took one last deep breath of crisp air before turning to enter; he needed to find a way to calm his nerves. A destiny he set in motion was waiting just inside; Narcissa would become his wife today. If he could just make it through the ceremony everything would be well, his mother would never forgive him if he showed all the emotions he was feeling right now. A Malfoy must only show strength and confidence; these sappy thoughts would not be a welcome sight to his parents. Collecting his thoughts and putting his mask firmly in place, Lucius smoothed his impeccable dress robes and went to embrace his hope for a happy future. Narcissa would be the other half he needed for greatness, yes; he had made the right choice.
Sister to the Dark Lord
Aww, kitten72, that's adorable!

OK everyone, I know it's getting started late, but I just wanted to tell everyone that I am using zwillo's idea for the LOL Valentine's Day fanfiction.

Here's her idea just incase you've forgotten:

72deeds, I really like the way you depicted Lucius choosing his potential mate. smile.gif I agree that Narcissa is the perfect fit for him. That was a really nice scene out of Lucius' life.

and thanks again to Sister to the Dark Lord for taking time to write a nice Valentine's day story about the most beautiful Malfoy.
lisasnape
Yay, a thread devoted to Lucius Malfoy! I thought I was the only one with this strange fascination for the man. wub.gif I have to admit that I found no redeeming qualities in him in the books; he was the character that I loved to hate. But the movies are a different story. Jason Isaacs is Lucius Malfoy! Those beautiful eyes of his look even more blue when he's wearing his Lucius wig *drools on keyboard*. Anyway, I thought I'd answer a question:

What do you think Lucius does in his spare time in Malfoy Manor? When the Dark Lord disappeared for a decade he must have had time to kill. I doubt he spent all his time torturing muggles and paying off authority figures. What do you think he would do to pass the time
?

I think he reads lots of dark arts books and spends alot of time in front of the mirror grooming and preening. How else could he look soooo good? He seems like a social person to me; he likes to be admired, so I think he spends alot of time in public. Be it the Ministry of Magic or other wizard haunts, I think he's out and about, seeing and being seen.

Lisa
lisasnape
Hi All, I'm positively languishing here; it's been much too quiet. laugh.gif So how about a new discussion:

Do you think Lucius would have been a better father if he had had a daughter (in addition to Draco, I mean; not instead of Draco, because I'm sure it's like a prerequisite or something for a Malfoy to have a male heir to carry on the Malfoy lineage)?

At first I thought maybe he would be a better father in regards to affection. He might be able to show a more caring side to a little girl than he could to a boy who he was grooming to become a clone of himself. Maybe they would have a "daddy's little girl" kind of relationship. But then I thought, since she wouldn't be as important to him as a son would be, he might just not pay much attention to her. I think he would still drill his way of thinking into her though: mudbloods are inferior and purebloods are the only people worth associating with.

What do you fellow Lucius lovers think?

Lisa
zwillo
Ooh, good question, Lisa!!

Do you think Lucius would have been a better father if he had had a daughter (in addition to Draco, I mean; not instead of Draco, because I'm sure it's like a prerequisite or something for a Malfoy to have a male heir to carry on the Malfoy lineage)?

I'd like to think that behind closed doors, Lucius is a gracious, loving father. Not, of course to the extent that Arthur Weasley is, but poverty does that to a person (brings out the loving side of a person, I mean). I think Lucius may have shown her a gentler side of him. She would of course be spoiled rotten, just like his son. But I think that Draco would have had it harder because of what you said. Draco would need to live up the the family name.

I think Lucius is just like any other stuck up, rich father. He loves his children, but can't be too bothered with them. Too bad Mary Poppins couldn't have been Draco's nanny. Then Lucius would end up taking poor Draco out to fly a kite! I think poor Draco could have used that. tongue.gif

Narcissa on the other hand, I think would have been over the moon to have a daughter.

Lucius does love his family. He showed that in DH. He started not caring about which side won the war. All he cared about was getting to the castle to find Draco. LV caught him on that when Lucius told him to call off the fighting because 'Potter might be killed by another's hand' Lucius didn't care one wit about Harry or who killed him, but Draco he did care about. I think if his little girl was in there, too, he would have been a man possessed. He and Narcissa, didn't even bother raising a wand in the final face-off between LV and Harry. They were running around like mad, looking for their son. Imagine if they had a daughter in the castle somewhere too. . .

I liked that question! happy.gif

~Dayna

lisasnape
Dayna, I love the Mary Poppins idea! And you're right about Lucius and Narcissa being consumed with trying to find Draco during the final battle and not caring about who won. I have a feeling that it took that extreme instance, life or death, to make Lucius realize how much he loved Draco.

By the way, I just have to tell you that I LOVE your new avatar. It's drool worthy! blush.gif I'm jealous; wish I would have thought of it!

Lisa
slytherin_girlyyy
Ooh can I join? I love Lucius! And Draco, he's my favorite character wub.gif But anyways, I'd love to join!

Also, I have a question. Not a discussion, but a question.

Every where it refers to Lucius's mistake at the Department of Mysteries. What did he do?!?!?!? Is it letting the prophecy break, because if it is, that's a stupid reason. huh.gif
zwillo
slytherin_girlyyy~ hehe, hey there! We're always looking for more Lucius lovers. Welcome!

As for your question. I think they are referring to his failure to retrieve the prophecy. I think that Voldie may have thought it absurd that Lucius failed when faced against six teenagers. That's just my opinion on it though.
slytherin_girlyyy
That makes sense. I forgot about the whole 6 teenagers thing. I get it now. =)
Now I have another question. How do I add the link in my signature? I know how to change it and add words and stuff but how do you make it where you can click on it? (I'm not technologicaly smart enough to figure it out xD)
zwillo
To put links in your signature, just click the icon of the little world. When I click the icon I get an error message that says "Error! You must enter a URL. You must enter a title." A little yellow bar then appears at the top of the screen that says "This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows..." Click the yellow bar and hit "Temporarily allow scripted windows" Then hit the little world again and a script prompt window will pop up. In the first prompt enter the address of the page you want to link to and hit enter. A second prompt will tell you to enter the title of the page. Once you do that, hit enter again and your link will appear in your signature.

It'll look something like this where you are typing it;
[ url=http://www.address of page you want linked ]Name of page[ /url ]

But will look like this once you hit update signature;
L.O.L.

And if you're wanting to link a picture to a page follow the above instructions, but in the second prompt put in [ img ]web address of where your picture is saved [ /img ] (take out the spaces) and hit ok or enter.

If I confused you and you need more help, send me an owl. happy.gif

Good luck,
~Dayna
slytherin_girlyyy
Thank you sooooooo much! The whole scripted window thing was my issue. biggrin.gif

How about a new discussion question?

Do you think Lucius ever respected anyone, other than Voldemort? He never acted as though he did. Did he even respect Voldemort towards the end, or was he just afraid of him?

Lisa
lisasnape
Ok, I'll go first. biggrin.gif

Do you think Lucius ever respected anyone, other than Voldemort? He never acted as though he did. Did he even respect Voldemort towards the end, or was he just afraid of him?

I think Lucius may have respected some of his ancestors, as well as the noble Black family, but that's about it. It seemed he had no respect for authority, ie. Dumbledore and the Minister of Magic. He simply had no use for anyone who wasn't wealthy, powerful, and pure-blood. If even one of those traits was missing, Lucius would consider the person to be of a much lower caliber than himself.

Interestingly enough, I think he did respect Voldemort during most of his association with him. I wonder if Lucius knew that Voldy was a half-blood, came from an orphanage, and later worked at a shop, basically leaving him only one redeeming quality (power) in Lucius' eyes. I guess Voldy's power must have been so great that it canceled out everything else, or probably, Lucius didn't know about Voldemort's origins.

By the time of Deathly Hallows, I think there was no more respect left for Voldemort-just fear of him. I felt that Lucius would have gladly left his death eater status behind if he had the chance.

Lisa

lisasnape
Hello? unsure.gif Is anyone out there? Please come back. I miss our discussions about Lucious, oops, I mean Lucius.

Do you think you'd like Lucius as much as you do if he wasn't so attractive onscreen? Or if the movies were never made and we just had to imagine him, and not have Jason Isaacs appearance to sway us?

Lisa

p.s. Please share your thoughts. We can't let Mr. Malfoy down. sad.gif
lisasnape
Lucius lovers unite! I love this thread and I don't want us to get shut down or what ever it is they do if we don't post in here for over a month. eeek.gif So, I'll answer my own question:

No, I wouldn't like him nearly as much if the movies had never been made or if another actor, without Jason Isaacs...ahem...virtues, played the role. Even though Lucius is still evil onscreen, somehow Jason Isaacs makes him charming and therefor more likable for me.

In the books, he was downright nasty. The only time I ever felt that he had any feelings at all was in DH when he and Narcissa were frantically looking for Draco during the battle. But he is a little "lighter" in the movies, much like Snape, and I think that makes him more likeable as well.

If Jason Isaacs weren't playing Lucius, I know I wouldn't have liked Lucius as much as I do. In the books, Lucius seems so inhumane, bue Jason really puts soul into the character.

Not much, I know, but it seems to need to be vague for you to get the idea of what I'm talking about.

What a great page!

What do I like most about Lucius?

Well JI plays him really well indeed and he makes the character beautiful with his gorgeous eyes and that long flowing hair plus his voice just makes me melt.

What don't I like?
Narcissa (a bit of the old green eyed monster there I guess)

Finally how do I join?

Firstly I made a desktop of Lucius today, it's not brilliant but I hope you all like it.
Lucius desktop

Secondly has anyone seen the (I hope I am allowed to say this rolleyes.gif ) cutie who has been cast as a young LM for the next movie. if not here's the link.

Tony Coburn to play teenage Lucius
Personally I am having issues imagining the flowing blond locks. What do you all think?
lisasnape
I love both your desktops, rujardelor! They give us all something to languish over... wub.gif Thanks for that link. Tony Coburn does look like a cutie and I hope that a nice, long blond wig will do the trick to turn him into the young Lucius Malfoy we all know and love!

Ok so here's a question for you guys.

Do you think if given the oppertunity Lucius would have taken his family and asked for Dumbledore's help and in doing so agreed to help the OotP OR would it have taken Voldermort to harm either Draco or Narcissa to make him act?

I have of course read the book but I was just thinking over possible endings for the Malfoy family and I wondered what you all might think.

Great question! smile.gif

I don't think Lucius would have asked for help from anyone, least of all Dumbledore, and I can't imagine him helping The Order (unless maybe he was under the imperious curse tongue.gif ). It seems that Lucius realized that things with Voldemort were getting out of control and extremely dangerous during DH, but he didn't make any attempt to get himself or his family out from under Voldy's control. I think he felt that he would be a pure blooded death eater until the end and he would be loathe to cooperate with any half-bloods, mud-bloods or blood traitors.

The only thing that I believe would have made him change his mind, put aside his pride and ask for help/protection would have been the threat of losing Draco or Narcissa. At the very end of DH, Lucius was running around like mad searching for Draco and not caring about the battle at all, but I think that it took the extreme possibility that his son might be dead to make him come to his senses.
