Welcome to the very first thread dedicated to the Twilight movies!
The first film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's Saga,
Twilight, was released on November 21, 2008 in the U.S. The second adaptation,
New Moon, is slated for a November 20, 2009 release.
The movies star Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, the film's star-crossed lovers. Additional characters include Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), who Bella also falls in love with in the second book. Edward's "siblings": Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz), Rosalie Hale (Nikki Reed), Jasper Hale (Jackson Rathbone), and Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene). Edward's adoptive parents Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) and Esme (Elizabeth Reaser). The first movie also concentrates heavily on three nomadic vampires, James (Cam Gigandet), Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), and Laurent (Edi Gathegi). And of course, a brilliant ensemble of actors who play the humans.
**This thread is solely related to the MOVIES! We have provided another thread dedicated to the books**So remember, THIS is the thread to discuss why you love Jackson, how much Kellan made you laugh, Kristen's new projects, how Nikki had just the right amount of sass, and of course, mourn the loss of Rob's hair. (*cough*)
Your review of Twilight? Good or bad?
Off you go!

I was one of the lucky Brits to see Twilight at the very first screening in the Uk back in November. I have to say I was really apprehensive because it had been hyped up so much, I feared it wouldn't live up to expectations.
I went total fan girl when the opening sequence came on screen. I swaer my heart was going to jump out of my mouth!
Anyway, what did I think of it? I thought the overall look was good. I thought Kristen looked like Bella but she annoyed me because she sounded flat and the Bella I was expecting was a bit more emotional than that. Taylor was Jacob even though I'd had my doubts before the movie was filmed. I loved the rest of the cast and thought the human parts were some of the best. The decision to mix the Ben/Eric character and create this geeky comedian was a good one, he had all the best lines! Saying that though, I thought the script lacked oompf! This made some of my favourite dialogue from the books sounding corny.
The special effects could have been better but then once I had seen the movie 5 or six times, this bothered me less. The cinematography was lovely...all that scenery! The music was particularly fitting, I loved the inclusion of Muse for the baseball scene. This was my favourite scene in the whole movie. The sepcial effects didn't even look too dodgy. For me though by far the best thing about this film was Robs performance as Edward. He totally got it in my view. But then I would say that wouldn't I?

OK, quick question... Are the New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn "trailers" found on YouTube the real deal or just done by some intense fans? One of them even has the Summit Entertainment logo at the beginning, but I couldn't tell if they were real or not. I was thinking that they can't be real since they haven't even filmed them yet, but then again... It would be a great marketing ploy to increase interest in the movies. I know my son's friend (she's 12) was quite excited to find them and just can't wait for the rest of the movies. SOOO if they are one big marketing ploy, it's working!

Nope, I believe they were done by some really dedicated fans. There are a lot of really good ones out there done by some really talented people. But no, since they haven't started filming yet, let alone marketing, there isn't going to be a New Moon trailer for a while. Not to mention that there isn't even a Breaking Dawn contract yet.

Has anyone heard about this article
here? I was shocked to here that they were considering casting Dakota Fanning as Jane.
Isn't she a little young? I know that Jane is supposed to be very petite, but I guess I just didn't picture her being
that young. What do you all think about this development?
etphonehome
Jan 22 2009, 07:14 PM
Jane is supposed to have a child like quality about her and personally I think Dakota Fanning is freaky anough looking to do the job as well as being a good actress. I actually had her down for the role ages ago on another site and I was shoot down for being bizarre for even suggesting her.
I should so be on the casting crew for these movies lol!!!

I actually would have thought Dakota Fanning would be too old now
She's 15 or something isn't she?
I always imagined Jane to be very young, around 10 or so. I don't know why but I just pictured a very very childlike quality about her.
Although I do have to agree with etphonehome that she does have that freaky look about her to do it, just I think it would have been better if Dakota hadn't grown up... she'd have suited Jane better if she still looked the way she did around the time she did War of the Worlds.

I agree that Dakota Fanning could pull Jane off. I don't think they need to get someone
too young looking. I agree that Jane has a child-like quality, but I never pictured her as being young. Given her devious mind I see her thinking as being far more advanced than that of a child.
Elaine - yep, you should be on the casting crew! Just goes to show what everyone else knows

Thanks again Nicky....
Other news that has the convention goers in the UK panicking like crazy.
Taylor Lautner has dropped out of the Salute to Twilight convention over the weekend of 20-22 February and Kellan has pulled out of the Chicago con slating work commeitments as their reason. Both of the actors are due to attend Eternal Twilight in the UK over the weekend of 27th Feb to 1st March. As you can imagine, UK fans are asking the question,'If they can't make cons close to home, what chance do we have of them coming to the UK'?
Watch this space! Although it will be disappointing if they pull out, I will still enjoy myself. I'm looking forward to having a weekend filled with Twilight with some great parties to attend.

I just read an article about casting Dakota Fanning as Jane and I have to admit that I was really excited. Dakota isn't at all what I was picturing when I thought of Jane, but I have always been a fan and think she will do an outstanding job. For such a young adult, Dakota sure has tremendous talent and discipline. As for Elijah Wood for Alec...I'm not sure I can picture that. But I will be pleased with whoever they cast, as long as Vanessa Hudgens does not get cast as Leah.

Dakota Fanning would be a superb choice of casting as Jane. Dakota is always good with the physcological side of things, and Jane freaked me out so I defiently think she'd be great for the part.
April 6th isn't too long to wait i suppose.
My thoughts on Twilight, It was enjoyable lacked some umph though. Chemistry was good and quite hillarious. Just needs to be on a bigger scale to claim the name "blockbuster" or anything like that. I hope to see somehting like that in New moon.

So the news in for UK conventions goers this morning is that Taylor has dropped out. It's a shame but at the end of the day he fought hard for his role in New Moon and he certainly doesn't want to put the mockers on it by swanning off to blighty for a jolly! The good news is though the organisers got back in touch with Kellan, Ashley and Justins people and they are still 100% on board which is great news.
MOTV satffer and her Twilight dolls.....
click me! If Edward really does look like Robert Pattinson, that can't be bad!
I have a question.....
Do you think that by pushing forward with the filming/release of New Moon in such a short time frame, Summit will compromise the quality of the film just to cash in on Twilights enormous success?

Do you think that by pushing forward with the filming/release of New Moon in such a short time frame, Summit will compromise the quality of the film just to cash in on Twilights enormous success?
Absolutely! Summit should've read some of the reviews, because some of them said that the special effects weren't great and the quality wasn't great. But all Summit seems concerned about, is getting New Moon out for money. They know as well as we do that New Moon will be as great, if not a greater success. That means that they should take the time to say, 'OK, what should we look into doing better for this movie?'. It frustrates me that they already have a release date. This time, I'm actually hoping they'll push the date back!
Dakota Fanning for Jane? I'm not quite sure. Does she have the talent? Definitely. I'm not sure if she completely has the right look. I always pictured a brunette and someone who looked older, yet younger, if you know what I mean.
etphonehome
Jan 27 2009, 11:00 PM
I completely agree about Summit. They should take more time over this one, but it's all about making money. They see the franchise as some kind of cash cow and that means a movie that will not be as good as it could be. They need to listen to the fans for once. We'd all rather wait to have the movie that we want, not any old rubbish they can churn out on a fast turn around!
E1 entertainment who distribute the movies for Summit in the UK have announced the UK cinema release for New Moon will be 27th November...just 6 days after the US release.

That's great about the UK's release Elaine. Hopefully you can still get into one of the first screenings again! I'm so excited for you guys!
I hope our new director will help us out and move back the release date. Supposedly, he's really into hearing what the fans want and need from the next movie. Then again, that's why Catherine was fired aheh, resigned from doing New Moon. Cause she couldn't do the movie in the allotted time.

Jan 29 2009, 02:29 AM
Dakota Fanning? I saw that too and I'm not sure about it, I always pictured Jane as younger, which is why she was scarier. She was this creepy little adorable kid, and while that doesn't fit in with the no Immortal Children thing going on my pictures of people don't always fit in with what they should be.

I guess she would be okay, I can't think of anyone better, but I think they should have open casting calls, they might find someone better who isn't famous.
I agree that they're rushing it, they should take their time and have something good rather than a rushed job. If they're worried about aging they should film New Moon and Eclipse back to back. Obviously they're just worried about making money but to tell the truth no matter how bad it is they'll still make money and people will still go to see Eclipse.

I would love to see Dakota Fanning playing Jane!
Long time ago, when the Twilight movie was only starting to film, I went over and looked for all the character resemblances, and Dakota was exactly what I pictured Jane to look like. I must say it was pretty much the fault of a picture I found online, which could probably have been
this one or a version of
this one with a black cloak. I think in the book it says that their cloaks are grey (I think...) but black definitely suits her as an evil child.
I remember when she played that movie with Robert DeNiro, I think it was called Hide and Seek, and she was awesome! So twisted, just like Jane! So I'm a Dakota-Jane fan! Yes, the age would be an issue now, but I think that if she does it, she'll do a great job!
Now, regarding rushing the movie... I'm torn in this. I want the movie to be done as fast as possible because I want to watch it, but I do know that rushing it will compromise its quality, so... Well, I just want a very good product to be out soon, and sometimes time is exactly what good quality products need. I'd rather see a great movie in a while longer than a crappy one in less time because the urge to make more money out of it was too big.
Did I tell you guys that I took my mom to see Twilight with me, and she told me that RobPattz has beautiful ears?

I was too busy watching everything else, but I guess that could just be the weirdest compliment someone can give him!

My mom is quite the observer, huh?

Is this a discussion thread, because I don't like Twilight, but I think this is a neutral review of the movie.
As much as I hate Twilight, I have to admit, the movie really is okay. With the books being a travesty to all literature ever, the movie really had no where to go but up, and up it did. The movie I think was at least three times better then the book for a few very important reasons.
Bella is the first and most noticeable. The writers managed to make her into a decent person. When she gets the car from her Dad, she’s happy about it. She doesn’t call it “the thing” and complain about it, like she does everything. Movie Bella doesn’t complain about anything as I remember.
She doesn’t manipulate Jacob and lead him on in the movie like in the book. There’s a scene with Jacob and Bella as the movie starts out that establishes them as childhood friends, verse in the books where Jacob and Bella barely knew each other from their past. I liked Jacob too; he seems like the sweet kid he’s supposed to be, before his character was completely destroyed.
She seems to actually care about her father. They eat together at that dinner I think at least three times, so that’s good. When he loses his friend, she puts her hand on his shoulder and says she’s sorry, and looks like she means it! I enjoyed Charlie, by the way. And him and Billy together where the best bits of the movie.
She’s smarter, too. Jacob doesn’t just feed her the story about the vampires, she has to go and find the other piece of the puzzle herself, and it gives her a real reason to go to Port Angeles verse just going to almost get raped so she can get saved by Edward. And she gets a hit in before he shows up, I noticed that.
She comes off as the shy girl she’s supposed to be with the kids in school. Because we’re in her head in the book, we know that she’s not around people because they don’t get her; she’s not around people because she doesn’t like people. But movie Bella is honestly awkward with her peers. They also cut down on her sueness of the boys fawning over her. Tyler doesn’t ask her out at all, and Eric seems interested, but not all that much where he would just as gladly go out with another girl over then Bella. Mike seems jealous of Edward but you can forget about that since he has so little screen time.
I liked the waitress in the dinner and the men sitting in their seats to hear about the murders, I also liked the cops and the other town people. It made Forks seem like a real place and not just something else for Bella to complain about. Plus the biology teacher was great, he’s that teacher that tries to get the kids into the school, he was fun.
They seat up the conflict with the other "vampires" in the book early, which is good, because then the only other plot the book has is Ed and Bella fawning over each other. I liked the scene with the vampires and the guy and the boat. Speaking of, James was awesome. He really came off as what a vampire should be. I also enjoyed Alice, pity she didn’t get anymore lines then she was allowed. She seemed like this flaky kind of sweet girl, like she belongs in an art college or something. Rosalie I think did well for what she was given.
Another good, especially when comparing the book and the movie, Edward and Bella’s relationship wasn’t as horrible as it is in the books. Only the fact that Edward watches Bella sleep and stalks her is kept in. He doesn’t tell her what to do or orders her around to have Bella follow, also doesn't carry her around like she's a weak child. It doesn’t see controlling, in the movie. And the “I’m in love with him line” came after they were in the woods and stuff together, so the movie gave them more time to fall in love.
Oh! And the reveal scene, where we see “Edward’s a vampire” is short, not this long drawn out affair like in the book. Reveal scenes are supposed to be quick and shocking, so the movie did okay for itself. And I liked the dream Bella had when after she did the research and stuff. That was cool, the flashes of Ed with bloody fangs and stuff. So was the scene when Bella had the venom sucked out of her, I liked how that was edited.
Okay, so onto the stuff that wasn’t quite right. The high school students! Like all of them, acted all hyped up and jittery, like they had too much Red Bull. And how they talked! Teenagers don’t talk like that! And I think you can swear in a PG-13 movie. This movie felt so PG to me. I don’t know why it wasn’t rated PG, it could have been. Also Eric is Asian and Tyler is black. What? Now we have a token Asian guy and a token black guy, super!
It seemed like Emmett and Jasper were just furniture or pieces of scenery. They had like 5 lines total, I think. And Rosalie, we get no reason why she hates Bella, just that she does for some reason, whatever. That I thought was it important enough to add like two minutes to the movie to establish that. But I forget no one but Bella and Edward matters, all the other characters don't count for much, which brings me to that bad.
There was no chemistry between Rob and Kirsten at all! I didn’t believe for a second that they were in love. There was no heat, no passion. It was probably the worst chemistry I’ve seen between two actors ever. I think that was the worst thing about the movie. Because it’s a love story, a love story is built on the chemistry between the two actors.
And both Rob and Kirsten did sucky jobs with the rest of everything else too. There were so freak'n robotic, all their lines. They added like no inflection to their voices ever. But I’m not surprised. I already knew that Kirsten can’t act unless she’s terrified or in pain. I expected better from Rob, but whatever.
The fight scene, that was bad. I’ve said it before; I’ll say it again, flying in the air to fight, only works in anime, 95% of the time, in live action, it just looks stupid. The fight scene was dumb, so was the baseball. That was just ridiculous. But admittedly, it's almost so bad it's good.
The score was terrible. Flat and dull, like Rob and Kirsten’s acting.
The costume choices for the bad vamps, what the hell was that? The fluffy thing for Victoria, I’ve only seen that look work for one character, and that Sesshoumaru for InuYasha. The guy with the dreads also had bad clothing, like he was a pirate and not a vampire. Vampires are supposed to look all cool and stuff, but none of them did, expect James, and that all came from the actor, not his clothes.
The sparkling! They had sound effect, which was so awesome! It was ridiculous and hilarious, just like the book.
The dialogue in generally was bad, especially between Ed and Bella. Teenagers don't talk like that. But that's the case in the book, too.
So, I guess it was alright, I give it a C over all. It was just really boring I thought for the most part, from lack of chemistry. Also a lot the time, I kept thinking that it was like kiddy version of True Blood. The whole move fast thing looked like it was stolen from there, anyway. Plus the human/vampire thing, of course.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it
Amyrat151! I know everyone has different tastes in things, so I guess you're not into the teenage love/vampire thing. That's OK! You are allowed to post whether or not you liked it. It's probably good to get someone who's going to yell at the movie and books in here every now and again. It mixes things up for us

!
I wasn't sure if I should post this in this thread or the book one, but since this can go with either, I chose this thread. I was looking at baby names on the web, (we have to pick out a name for a project) and I thought it would be cool to see the top ten girls' names and top ten boys' names.
I noticed how Isabella was at number two. I don't think it used to be a popular name. I've never even met someone named Isabella. So the question is, how much do you think Twilight affected that?
Personally, I think Twilight has everything to do with it and it is the only thing affecting that ranking.
But for even more shocking news, Jacob is the
number one boys' name. I think Twilight affected this a lot too. I doubt people want to name their child Edward too much anymore, because it's an older name now. No offense to anybody who names their child Edward, I still like the name. But what I'm saying is, they want their child to have a Twilight related name, they don't want to pick Edward, it's a boy, and they're left with Jacob. Plus some people don't like Edward to begin with.
What does everyone think about these names being in the top two rankings?
Amyrat151
Jan 31 2009, 06:04 PM
No, I like vampire/human love stories, or rather a human and some supernatural being paired together. The beauty and the beast story has been told, so many times after all.
But I don't think Meyer's vampires are actually vampires, for one. They're sparkle stone people, but not vampires.
And I'm not sorry I don't like Twilight, I'm quiet happy about that fact, actually.

Amyrat...I know that we never saw eye to eye on Twilight as a book, but I really do like your review of the movie.Well, except the fact that I thought Rob did a pretty good job of being Edward. But you are spot on about the chemistry...I just didn't feel a connection. To me it was if Rob was trying and then gave up because Kristen was playing the saem role she played in Into the Wild and In the Land of Woman, a plank of wood. She's pretty enough and she looked how I imagined Bella to look but she lacks a warmth in her acting even though she did show that she cared for Charlie. That's something I put down to the script/direction rather than her ability as an actress.

I loved the Twilight movie! And Robert Pattinson (phoarr!), he is so gorgeous! Loved the love story between Edward and Bella, it draws you in makes you want to see their relationship develop to the end, as the book does too. Can't wait for New Moon to be released, though I think I may read the book first, I've only read Twilight so far.

Oh, and can I say on the subject of Dakota Fanning, she has the EXACT same birthday as me lol just thought I'd share that lol.

My daughter, who is 12, is called Isabelle Alice. In her class at school there was another Isabelle which when you think she went to a school with only 100 children in it is pretty good. When she was in infant school, her friend Matthew's mummy was having a baby and she asked me if I minded if she called the baby Isabelle if it was a girl. My aunt is called Isabella, my great grand mother was Isabella and I think the name has been in my family since the 1700's!
The name Edward is becomming more popular now I think. Jacob never really went out of style, there are at least 6 in the school I work in so Edward still has a bit of catching up to do. Alice on the other hand is one of those names that stays around. Although my daughter was named from Alice in Wonderland rather than after anyone person!

This post is in regard to the chemistry between Kristen/Rob or more appropriately, Edward/Bella. I think the movie was good, but the relationship between Bella and Edward felt rushed. One moment he's glaring at her like she has the plague and the next they can't live without each other. I felt the movie lacked the relationship-building stage that Stephenie Meyer portrayed quite well in the book. The movie also lacked the relationship development between Alice and Bella, so I'm interested to see how they build on that in New Moon.

Yes,
steppy. The movie lacked a lot of relationship foundation and buiding. It really was rushed, and I don't think movie-viewers who haven't read Twilight or the series, lacked some of the experience that Twilight is supposed to bring to you.
And I'm sorry,

No offense taken. It could be that the name is not popular within the age groups of people you know and that's why you haven't heard it. I can say definitely that I hadn't heard of one Isabelle/Isabelle/Isobel when I was growing up ...despite it being a family name. I didn't know that my aunts name was Isabella, she was called Ella by everyone. Now though, especially as I work in a school I am more aware of the names that are popular both boys and girls.
I felt the same about the Edward/Bella on screen relationship. One minute he couldn't stand her and the next he was declaring his love for her and her for him. The movie lacked the build up that was in the book. But I guess if Catherine Hardwicke wanted to have them sitting next to each other exuding electricity for half an hour then Summit might have said she was wasting the budget

I went to the premiere of Twilight last night. And yes, I know it is very late for me to see it, but I didn't want to watch it before it would be in a cinema. And I really enjoyed it. It was worth the wait. However, I don't think it should be compared with the book, because there then are so many flaws in the movie. But they stayed pretty close and was beautifully shot, so I thought it was amazing.

Regretfully I was only able to see the movie once but, I still was able to fall in love with it. I know some people that have seen it more than once, I am told enjoyed it more and caught different things in the film that they loved ands really appreciated. I have to say i went into the movie expecting a let down due to my immense obsession with the books but, it turns out I truly loved the film and found the actors did their characters justice. Overall, I was content with the film.

Hi, I have a question to all you Twilight fans:
Would you have prefered other actors/actresses in the roles of Bella and Edward? If so, why?
It just interested me because I'm not fond of the two who were chosen for the leading roles and I think perhaps other choices of actors could have brought something else to the films.

Wow. It's been so long time since I've last seen the inside of a Twilight thread! Haha.
Well, first I'd like to say that even before ti was rumoured, I saw a movie with Dakota Fanning and I saw her as Jane immediately. I think she has the perfect look, but it takes a pretty skilled actor to play Jane too I'd say.
Would you have prefered other actors/actresses in the roles of Bella and Edward? If so, why?
Just dropping a note saying, I only just saw Twilight (legally) Fabruary 6th with Louise.
Yes for Bella. I was not very happy about her performance. But Edward, looooved him. But on the other hand, I have no idea who else I would have had to play her. Maybe if she'd been able to show us a better Bella. She didn't quite catch the way I think Bella is.

not sure if anyone has seen this yet. I didn't read the thread sinc eI haven't seen the movie yet so forgive me if it's been brought up.
Madonna wants some Twilight action. Some of the comments on there are funny. People saying if she was in it she could be a Volturi wife, hidden under a cloak. Others say she'd make a good Vampire because she's so pale and sinewy.
I'm against it. If she wants an acting part then someone needs to jump in and tell her she can't act to save her life so she should step back. If she wants to do a song, go for it, as long as it doesn't come with a film clip of her dancing around Rob wearing stilettos, fishnets and a leotard. I don't think he'd want to have a skeleton dressed like a hooker cracking onto him.

I thought this turned out to be a load of garbage?
MTV has images of the
New Moon art work.
Rob, Kristen and Taylor are supposed to attending some promotional fan event in Tokyo on 27th February.
A lot of convention fans are a bit miffed about this because Taylor was due to attend two, one in the US this weekend and another next weekend in the UK. Trouble is, if this is a promo event it;s Summit pulling the strings and he's contractually obliged to do it. Doesn't stop the fans, particularly the ones here in the UK, being annoyed.
One week now till Eternal Twilight. This time next week, I'll be sipping wine in the company of Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Justin Chon, Peter Facinelli and Christian Serratos....woot!

The date has already been set for the release of Eclipse into theatres.
Read here!!!This article also states that Chris Wietz will NOT be directing Eclipse.
I am seriously concerned about this franchise. Although the film will not be shot back to back with New Moon, it is still expected to be ready for releasse a short 7 months after it's release.
What does everyone else think about this?
Will the quick turn around on these movies compromise the quality?
Who would you like to see direct Eclipse?
What parts of Eclipse do you think
must be left in to make it a good movie?

Would you have prefered other actors/actresses in the roles of Bella and Edward? If so, why?No. I thought Kristen actually did a really nice job. She was a great Bella. To me, if you're going to say something was off between Bella and Edward, you can't blame one actor, you have to blame both.
Sadly, (it's really sad) I don't think Rob did as good a job.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry! But it came off as more strange than anything. And don't tell me 'Well, he's a vampire. The book says he's supposed to be strange.' Don't get me wrong, I know the book as well as anyone, and yes, some weirdness should be there. But the book also says that the Cullens come across weird, but they weren't freaky. At least not freaky enought that nobody wanted to befriend them. The rest of the Cullen family besides Rob and Jackson played their parts beautifully in my opinion. Rob didn't have to look so freaky though!

Good for you Elaine! You'll have to fill us in about everything.
Did anybody happen to see the Academy Awards last night? Well, a family member was watching it and she called me sounding excited, so I sprinted to the room thinking, 'It's got to be somebody from Twilight' and guess who it was! Robert Pattinson. He was so cute too. He kept looking down as if he was embarrassed or shy or something. He was great. And I don't blame him for the corny joke they had him and Amanda Seyfried(the girl from Mamma Mia. She was presenting with him.) do.
Please, please, please no Madonna in Twilight. It's funny how now everybody wants to be a part of Twilight. It's not fair!

Sorry, I'm being a bit juvenile and cranky right now!
It is unbelievable and most definitely unacceptable that they have already set the date for Eclipse, and it's a mere 7 months from the release of New Moon. This is just one blow after the other.
Who would you like to see direct Eclipse?Honestly, even though I wasn't thrilled with Twilight, I'd really like to see Catherine back, if Chris Weitz won't be back. We need something to be the same!
What parts of Eclipse do you think must be left in to make it a good movie? The whole thing. No, honestly I don't know right now. I'm too heated at everything!
Sorry for venting a little,

Hey everyone

Sorry for being gone for so long, and I see that many of you have found some tibits of news as well. The same ones I was going to post

but there are questions out there and I'm in the answering mood (:
First off to the question that asks about the change of role for bella and/or Edward. No. Well let me elaborate a bit more. I personally can't see anyone else to play that role. I'm the kind of person that knows that is a someone is playing a role in a movie that is a franchise, and my mind is use to them and is set on them, it's pretty hard to adjust to someone new. A new face. It's like saying that you're going to replace your mom. Whether you like your mom or not, you wouldn't do it becuase you're use to seeing them. I'm sure many out there would like to replace Kristen or Robert, but for me, they're set til the end.
Who would you like to see direct Eclipse?Alright first off my initial reaction to reading about this news was WTF. I mean the filming for New Moon hasn't even started, so we haven't seen how Chris Weitz directing will be like, and already they are set off to finding a new director for a movie that doesn't even have a script done? Are people this ridiculous now a days? I mean yea I've been gone for awhile and I have been missing all the Twilights news but people couldn't have gone from stupid to incredibly retarded. I'm not understanding all this change. It's like teaching a kid how to drive after he just learned to be potty trained. Slow your roll, Summit.
What parts of Eclipse do you think must be left in to make it a good movie?Well obviously this depends on what is in New Moon. But personally I think that the chapter of fire and ice, you know where Jacob and Edward are in the tent while Bella is asleep? Yea. Also I think just for fun (: I really think that they should OBVIOUSLY keep the chapter where Bella and Edward are in the bed and Bella is trying to get it on with Edward

and I beleive that's the same chapter where Edward proposes right? I haven't read Eclipse since the summer D: Anywho right now all of the book is crucial until we see what is left out of New Moon.
By the way, just asking, since Chris won't be the director does this mean that while New Moon is going on Eclipse will be filming somewhere else at the same time? Like Eclipse having more time or what do they have in mind?
I'll be back with more news that some of you may have missed (:

EDIT: Well what did I say? (: I found something interesting. 5 reasons Why New Moon may be better than Twilight.
1. New Characters, New ConflictsQUOTE
The benefit that most sequels have is that the main characters and their relationships have already been established. This leaves the door open for deeper exploration of the story and characters as the each actor has grown into the roles. For an actor, it is all about the interpretation of a character on paper and the transfer of emotion to the screen. A novel can describe emotion, feelings, and settings but a film has to show it. In the case of New Moon, fans should feel more of what they felt from the books now that Twilight is out of the way and the story can unfold.
In New Moon, Bella and Edward’s relationship has already been established. But, like any relationship, the introduction of secondary conflict can play an important role on the dynamics of love. Without giving too much away, beyond Edward and Bella, the impact Jacob has on the story creates simultaneous conflict. Loyalties will be put to the test while the choices of right and wrong are pitted against those of want and need. Much like a second book in a series of novels, New Moon will cut to the chase in a way fans can already identify with via new character dynamics while delving deeper into the complexities of love.
2. Starlet in shadow: Dakota Fanning?QUOTE
With casting for New Moon in full swing, there’s been much buzz surrounding the possible addition of a highly recognizable name in Hollywood for the role of Jane. Dakota Fanning, former child star turned critically acclaimed young movie star, is only 15 and yet Fanning has more experience in the industry than her possible New Moon co-stars combined.
Dakota Fanning has worked alongside such A-listers as Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington and Sean Penn and knows the acting world inside and out. If cast in New Moon Fanning would be the biggest name attached to the film, even more than her recently popular Twilight co-stars. Although many fans have questioned whether Fanning for role of Jane is the right choice, Dakota brings to the table a masterful range of emotion and a wealth of A-list experience. But will her star power overwhelm her co-stars? What we do know is that she can act and the addition of Dakota Fanning could only raise the acting game of the entire cast to make them better. How well fans receive Fanning as Jane may be a different story.
3. Digging deeper in the name of loveQUOTE
Stephenie Meyer herself wrote about how much the character of Edward had cemented his own personality and character in such a way that changing his essence would be like changing his physicality. It could not be done. Edward’s role in New Moon is as much about his character as it is a necessity in the relationship he has with Bella. No great love story would be complete without a special, magical bond that’s sometimes painful on many levels and it doesn’t get any better than with a love-struck teenage girl and a broody vampire.
The success of New Moon over Twilight lies in the ability of actors to inhabit their characters on a deeper level. What Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson bring to Bella and Edward for New Moon will require more than just reading lines from a page. Twilight showed us the magic of an inevitable love story and New Moon will continue the saga in a richer manner. It’s the love story that will force Pattinson and Stewart to go deeper inside themselves as actors than they did in Twilight. Usually when people reach deep and go beyond their comfort zones, good things happen. In this case, it will all be in the name of love.
4. Setting the new moodQUOTE
Although Twilight was filmed in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, mainly in Washington St. and Oregon, heading north to Vancouver, British Columbia can only benefit in a couple of ways. First, Vancouver is perfect for the tone and atmosphere of New Moon since it rains so much that Robert Pattinson will feel at home among “Vampouverites.” Although Washington, Oregon, and Vancouver all fit the franchise well, the dreary scenery in Twilight was able to set the tone of the novel, bringing to life the plight of the characters while creating a setting that befitted Edward and Bella’s relationship both internally and externally. Vancouver will bring that in broody spades.
Second, with the slumping economy director Chris Weitz and crew will get more mileage out of the American dollar in exchange, which should afford the production a few more tricks and effects that Twilight wasn’t able to incorporate purely for financial reasons. Who knows what cost savings will add to New Moon, but it’s better than not having enough to work with.
Half of the mystery of Edward and his family lies in their ability to live in shadow and Vancouver provides the perfect backdrop with cloaked forests and overcast skies. Let’s just hope the crew can keep the rabid fans off the set.
5. The Quileute tribe and the legendsQUOTE
Jacob Black was originally intended to be a stand-alone character in Twilight but his role in New Moon is more significant, as the underlying conflict between werewolves and vampires comes to the forefront. The Quileute legend speaks of its people being descended from werewolves, with the lore based on real Quileute legends except for the introduced conflict with the vampires (or "cold ones" as Jacob describes them). With the arrival of the Cullens, legend and lore allow fans to journey deeper into the mythology and intricacies of New Moon’s opposing forces. In other words, with such a profound back-story between werewolves and vampires, New Moon will explore more while connecting on a deeper level to Bella. In many ways and aspects surrounding the Quileute Tribe and the legend, New Moon should tap into the book on better levels than that of Twilight. The legend and the expanded significance of Jacob will take fans on a darker journey while evoking more complex emotions than Twilight.
it's long I know . Sorry.

7 Secrets of the Twilight sequel movie: New Moon (:that's all , I mean we all know now that both Madonna and the Jonas Brothers want to write a song for the New Moon soundtrack and until now nothing has been confirmed and is still in process. And even though Leah isn't going to debut in the New Moon fil, High School Musical Vanessa Hudgens is really interested in her role. Maybe for Eclispe? What are your thoughts.

Who would you like to see direct Eclipse?Well there was an article on E online that states the reason that Weitz will not be directing Eclipse is because he will still be in post- production when Eclipse will have to start filming. This due to the fact that Eclipse is set to be released only 6 months after New Moon in June 2010. Talk is that they are considering using Drew Barrymore to direct Eclipse. You can read the article
here.
Any thoughts??

I'm not much into directors and knowing who most are. I know who some are, like big ones, but other than that not many. As long as this one sticks to the story line and does an amazing job on it, I'm glad with that. Eclipse is a good book and shouldn't have anything cut out of it.

That's my favorite part, and I can't wait to see how it is portrayed in the movie. I like it because it's like you really get to see the relationship between Edward and Jacob, and that's an important part to the whole story, especially Breaking Dawn. And if they leave that part out, it might confuse non-readers (shun! no, just kidding

) just a tad.

Personally all of these director changes is driving me insane. I mean New Moon hasn't started and now this? I heard through a podcast that it would be intresting if Catherine Hardwicke (previous director of Twilight) returns to film Eclipse. If she did, what would your thoughts and reaction be?
hot-for-harry
Mar 6 2009, 12:24 AM
Actually when I first heard that there was going to be another director for Eclipse, I said I wanted Catherine Hardwicke to do it, because it seems like she really does have a feel for what should happen.
It makes me mad that they have barely started doing New Moon and they're planning ahead so much instead of taking it one step at a time. I wonder why Chris Weitz won't be doing Eclipse. Did Summit fire him too?
And the fact that they have already set a date for Eclipse and it is a mere seven months after New Moon, just blows my mind. Seven months is not long enough to make a good movie, and right now they should be focusing on New Moon, not Eclipse. I can't believe they've already set the date.
I was reading one of those gossip magazines just to see what the latest was that they were trying to frame somebody with. Apparently they think that the one girl who was talking about playing Heidi was already cast. I never heard that. Is it actually true? But they were saying that Kristen Stewart got extremely jealous of her (which is not true. Kristen's really cool about that stuff.), which is why the girl quit doing New Moon; she said she had schedule conflicts.

Well the reason that Chris won't be doing it is becuase when Eclipse starts to film he'll be in post-production. Like cleaning the movie, adding effects, alll that good stuff and he won't be able to work on Eclipse. Supposedly they're thinking about casting his brother, Paul I believe as the Eclipse directore. And there's a rumor going around that Drew Barrymore might do it. But I think that one is a rumor

Dakota Fanning lands 'New Moon' role
After months of speculation, ET has confirmed that Dakota Fanning will join Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and company in "Twilight"'s highly anticipated sequel, "New Moon."
Fanning, 15, will sink her teeth into the role of the young vampire, Jane in the film, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Nov. 20, 2009.
Chris Weitz will direct the new movie, based on the second book in author Stephenie Meyer's mega-popular vampire series.
Fanning most recently starred in "The Secret Life of Bees" and "Push," and voiced "Coraline." And she's currently negotiating to play lead singer Cheri Currie in "The Runaways," the biopic of the '70s all-girl band that has already booked "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart to play Joan Jett.
I don't think she is right for the part. I know a lot of people like her for Jane, and think she looks like a vampire. But I think some are forgetting that vampires are supposed to be drop-dead beautiful. I hate to say this, really, but I don't think Dakota is very pretty. Sorry!
What do you think about her being officially cast?QUOTE

Sorry but I feel the need to butt in and change the subject just for my post. As I probably mentioned a bout a gazillion times in the past, I was going to a Twilight convention. This was last weekend and I have pretty much just recovered.
It was brilliant. I got hugs off Kellan and Peter (who...well in my opinion is gorgeous) and got to talk to Christian Serratos, Ashley Greene and Justin Chon.
Justin sang a song by the Decemberists at one of the talks and was really funny but I'm sure he must have been fed up with people asking him to say 'It's a worm.' lol!!
Kellan and Peter were very naughty, whipping the crowd into a frenzy when the organisers were trying to calm us all down, they would do silly things and hype us all up again! I got autographs from all of them and photo's too (from a pro photo shoot). I haven't had these scanned into my comp yet but if anyone has me on facebook they can see my pics there.
Kellan talked about playing Emmett and getting the role. Someone asked him if he had wanted to keep any of his props and he said he liked his jeep and that he liked how it was dirty **insert lot's of innuendo here** lol!
Ashely talked about originally going up for the role of Bella which was something not a lot of people knew and also about her film she is in with Kellan called Warrior.
Peter was asked to say the line 'Animal attack' in a sexy voice and he was very obliging and at the beginning of one of the talks he pretended to interview himself and asked, 'so what was it like to work with Rob'!! He also discussed other roles such as in Supernova!
Christian was really great and funny and seemed older than 18.
All of them became ill by the Sunday. Peter had a very croaky voice on Saturday and pretty much half the attendees got ill with what we ended up calling Facinelli Flu.
On the Saturday night we had a Prom/Casino party and Kellan played Black Jack. Peter danced with 2 attendees who had bid at the auction, I think they paid about £300 each! He then danced with the crowd for a while to Beat It!
Kellan spent some time with his two friends at the bar and I manged to talk to him there for a while as they were with one of the crew girls who I had talked to on the organisers forum.
All in all it was an exhausting but completely fantastic weekend and we get to do it all again in October...Billy Burke has already been announced for that and I can't wait!
OK you can go back to whatever now lol!!
Ashely talked about originally going up for the role of Bella

That is
so exciting,
Elaine! Were you really nervous around them? Or just natural?
I'm glad none of the actors acted cocky around you all. That would have been really annoying for you to get the ticket, get all excited for the convention, then get there to find out the actors were full of themselves.
From how much you talked about him, it sounds like you liked Peter the best! He really is gorgeous though. I agree with you.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun! Did it feel real to you or not until after it happened? Because I can't imagine actually seeing the movie stars in person. I just imagine it in my mind!

No I'm not crazy!
I found some news about the supposed director of Eclipse.
Here is the article.

New director for third installment of 'Twilight'
March 12, 2009, 9:18 AM EST
Entertainment Tonight
A director has reportedly been chosen for the third film in the hugely popular vampire series "Twilight."
Summit Entertainment, the studio producing "Eclipse," has tapped Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona to direct the film, and an official announcement is expected soon, Variety reports.
Bayona, a protégé of Mexican-born Guillermo del Toro, directed the Spanish-language horror-thriller "The Orphanage" and is attached to helm the upcoming thriller "Hater."
Summit has chosen a different director on each "Twilight" movie. Chris Weitz replaced '"Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke on the second in the series, "New Moon," which is set to open on Nov. 20.
Personally, I'm not very excited if this is true. Just another reason for why the Twilight franchise is going to the dogs.
Anybody want to share their thoughts on this matter?

They were very natural so we were all really natural. I mean some of the more excitable younger fans got a tad over the top, but that was OK, we all had fun with it.
None of them were precious about being famous at all. They seemed really grateful that we were there and even thought we were slightly mad. Ashley even commented that she's never been screamed at just for walking into a room!
Here's a couple of pics we took of Kellan and Peter during the talks....

I want to say I certainly hope
this article is true! I laugh at the thought of RPatz running
from Paris Hilton. It's quite sad that she is throwing herself at him and he seems to want nothing to do with her... well, sad for her.
Seems that "Twilight" is dazzling a lot of A-listers and now they're wanting a piece of the pie. I think the series should stay true to it's roots and be a spring board for other lesser-known actors to get a leg-up. This kind of goes against casting Dakota Fanning as Jane, but we'll have to see how it plays out.

I've noticed. The Jonas Brothers would love to write songs for it, everybody is saying how much they
love Twilight now (a lot are probably being fake), Drew Barrymore wants to direct it, and that 90210 girl wanted to be Heide. It's getting ridiculous, but what else is new.
I was talking to my friend, and I also said that Twilight is a movie for actors and actresses who haven't hit their big break yet and people who are new at the job. Since I am not a fan of Dakota Fanning as Jane, I completely support the whole 'new people only' idea.

Did anybody get to go to the midnight release? If so, did you see any of the actors or filmmakers from Twilight?
I didn't go to a midnight party because to me, it's kind of stupid. No offense. But it's only a DVD, a not a very good one at that. Sorry, but my opinion of the movie was not high.
I just watched a bunch of special features and they're not very disappointing! I most liked seeing and listening to the music extras! Rob is so talented!
Yeah, so throw in your opinions about the movie, which version you got, and if you went to a release party!
