They really REALLY R-E-A-L-L-Y should play out that whole chess game. From the looks of it from pausing and playing every now and then and displaying the board, i cant see how harry moving to that spot is a checkmate. *shrug* stumps me.

I hated the cheesy bits, like where hermione is saying harry is a great wizard, its sooo annoying!!
peaceoflorien
Jul 3 2004, 04:25 PM
Oh i KNOW! Was that in the book? Or in the second movie when hermione meets up with harry in diagon alley, she fixes his glasses.... she would have been expelled for doing magic outside of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Catch_22
Jul 3 2004, 05:44 PM
Haha... be nice now... small mistakes like that... maybe there was so much magic going on around there no one noticed or something. *Shrug* its possible right? i thought so. :-D
yeh lol. that would be good, hermione getting expelled. can you imagine?
Catch_22
Jul 3 2004, 11:42 PM
Oo... "I'm going to bed before either of you think of another clever idea to get us killed... or worse, expelled...."
So if she thinks being expelled is worse... w0w... sorry but i'd hate to see her expelled, i think half the wizarding world would be afraid she thinks of some spell that would make the world blow up or something.... just to prove herself. lol
peaceoflorien
Jul 4 2004, 05:03 AM
lol! Yeah, but I dont think Hermione would blow up the world, i mean look at all the house elves she would be destroying, I think if she got expelled she would go crazy and start freeing house elves right and left.
Catch_22
Jul 4 2004, 09:07 AM
Haha. Too true. Start her own organization... SPEW co. Sockmakers or something.... wow... wouldn't that be lovely?

Hagrid's moment of glory

Haha i loved that... Hagrids great... "Dursley you great prune" *bang*

I guess the films are alright, but they are not as good as i imagine the school and the characters.
Catch_22
Jul 6 2004, 06:06 AM
The school is awfully more interesting than i would have imagined. The characters are a lil iffy. but hey! its the best we can do. (definitely imagined Harry to be more scrawny and Hermione to look more nerdy)
lol yes.. the characters are a little different from the books! but they were great!!

I actually saw the first movie before reading the books, so I guess I kind of cheated. I wish I could have envisioned the whole thing on my own first... but oh well!
The acting from the 1st to the 3rd has come so far! Sometimes I watch the first movie and just kind of laugh. But then again, I doubt I could have done any better when I was 11!

i dont think that they acted bad or anything like that. i just thought it was funny, look how much older they all look now!!

I agree that theacting was not that great in the first movie but the Second and Third were very good acting so i agree with both of you because i do agree what you two are saying about there age and acting and plz dont take offence to my name because I didnt creat it but i would like to keep it because it is origonal and no ones name says they hate harry potter

Jul 11 2004, 11:51 PM
The acting was a bit rough in the 1st movie, and a little in the 2nd, but it was very good, and most of the actors did a lot better in the 3rd movie, but I did see a few parts were Dan looked a little akward(can't spell). But other than that i give all 3 movies two thumbs up.

Jul 12 2004, 12:07 AM
I think they all did very good in the 1st movie, seeing as how they didnt have any acting expierence.

True But i think the acting charcter of harry could have looked more like him as discribed in the book.

I'm pretty happy with the way Daniel Radcliffe looks as Harry Potter. His hair could have been a little messier in the 1st two movies, but other than that. Well, I do wish his hair was darker, like black instead of brown, and that he had GREEN eyes and not blue, but other than that...

OOOOOH! You know what I just saw when watching SS on TV?
When Hermione points out James' seeker plaque, beside it is a plaque that says "M. G. McGonagoll."
Could that be our lovely, strict Minerva?

One thinking that really annoyed me about the first two films was that the Hogwarts students wore shirts and ties under there robes, I know this is probably really insignificant but it seemed be trying to make Hogwarts look like a muggle school. Why would Hogwarts students ever wear school uniforms?
Sorry im very nit picky (not sure if this is actually a word) when it comes to the Harry Potter films, unless there going to be 11 hours long and include everything in the books I will find something to criticise about them!

Jan 31 2005, 06:20 PM
yeah i gess, but in some Countries do not have school uniform. and Hogwarts is a uk school and most uk school wear school iniform. and even if they didn't wear school unform the would still look like muggle by not wear school uniform

ah Ha, i've just realised that Snape was the one who called Dumbledore back to Hogwarts, after he reads Harry's mind out in the walkway of the courtyard.
Oh I'm so unobservant
Louise
Mar 18 2005, 09:12 PM
Huh? Who did what in the where now?

Is this in the book or the movie? We didn't see anyone calling Dumbledore back, did we?
Ooooh...hang on, I think I've just got it....you mean that he guessed what Harry was about to do so called Dumbledore back? Mmm....maybe....but why didn't he just try and stop Harry himself?
Darren
Mar 18 2005, 11:51 PM
A point to ponder on indeed.
Yes, Mr Rickman does that lovely “I’m reading your mind, pause, gasp, consider, walk away” look.
Why did Snape let Harry and chums save the day?
Why were all the challenges easy enough for those with the trio's personal specialities to complete?
Why were all the challenges not previously completed?
Why would Dumbledore leave Harry when he new he would be up to something?
Children’s book/film or cryptic message left by JK. You decide.

This movie is OK but I don't think the trio's acting is that good.
It also annoys me that whenever Ron, Harry and Hermione are in the common room, it is always empty! When in the book the common room always seems to have quite afew people in it. Especially on Christmas day because Ron says his parents have gone to visit his brother, so why aren't Fred, George and Percy in the common room too?
Apart from that I do like the film. My favourite part is probably the big chess game near the end!

in the first movie in the forbidden forest, voldemort was the thing under the cloak and he was supossedly a ghost or whatever, so why did he have a face when you could see under the hood of the cloak?

ya the more i watch it the more i can tell they weren't the best actors but they were only 12 and 13 so thats pretty good. I also noticed that rupert's a better actor than dan in the first one. rupert can be funny but in the chess match at the end hes really good at being serious and afraid. Dan doesn't show that much passion when he's afraid or angry, I just hope he makes the graveyard scene in the 4th movie really dramatic!
Posted on Jul 4 2005, 12:54 PM
o and another thing, i think its so cute ow harry's voice is high pitched in the first one and a lot lower in the second one. I know I know its called puberty but it's funny so hear after you're used to the 2nd and 3rd one.

The first two films were the best, I think. More like the story and more how I imagined the wizarding world to be. In the 3rd, I dunno, it just changed I reckon, with the new director and everything, but the films are still good - just not how I really imagined them to be.

I loved the first two movies, they were so good, and the music by John Williams went so well with them. And of course, Richard Harris as Dumbledore was amazing, he will always be the best DD, and the DD in my mind when I read the books. The second movie is prolly my second favorite, besides GOF. The 2nd movie was prolly the closest to the book, and we still had the original setting and Harris as Dumbledore.
