Yeah the spiders scene was great...Ron was hilarious!! Like peaceoflorien said, it was priceless.
Hey do any of you know what spell Harry used to ward off the spiders? Coz it wasn't in the book (right?) so I'm just wondering how do you say it exactly, didn't quite catch it...
Kenneth Branagh definitely did a marvelous job playing Lockhart. God, what a dandy man...hehe

CoS is my least favourite film out of the three. I liked the bit where they charmed the cakes for Crabbe and Goyle, "how thick could you get" lol, and i really like the music in it, particularly the Fawks theme. I hated the Basalisk bit's (yawn, so boring) and i didn't like the bits where Harry kept finding pettrified people. It was still a good film though.

You have to check the part when Harry left the room and goes to the hall and find Nick and Justin petrified, and when Filch catch him look at the part when he said ** No Mr. filch you dont understand ** just listen that, Harry speaks weird, the way he tell it!!!
Check plis, if someone have the movie!!!!!!!! ´cause it make laugh!

My favorite part was when... err... was when... err... was when Dobby was in the closet and pushing the door open, while Harry was talking to Vernon, and trying to close it back up again. Open... slam... open... slam... open...... you get the point.

hmm i have the dvd, so i watched it several times.
i liked the part when vernon was practically crying when the cake dropped at mrs.mason's head.
i was amazed at how ron's face looked like when he was throwing up slugs! it look soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo real. but it probably was hehe.
i loved the look on the weasley's faces when errol crashed into the window, and when mrs.weasley scolded at them for using the family car.
what i didnt like was hermione's reaction to draco calling her errm...udblood-may (pig latin) her reaction was not fast enough, she should have been more upset =\ but eh..

They should have had everything go into uproar like the book. Fred and George try to jump Malfoy, Alicia shrieks "How dare you!", and then Ron does his little slug thing. And there you go! Movie success!

I loved it when Harry 1st heard the Basilisk when he was in detention with Lockhart (So funny!) and he was like "Couldn't you hear that?" and Lockhart was looking around his room "Er..what Harry?" lol
I also loved the bits where the writing was on the wall - Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever, oooh creepy! lol
But my favourite bit was in Flourish + Blotts with the book signing! Mrs Weasley doing her hair + Lockhart practically ripping off his arm to get him to be in the picture.
They should of included the bit where Lockhart set them a test on himself!
I feel like watching that movie now!

I like the part when he is at Flourish and Botts, and they are leaving, and Draco Malfoy he is like jealous or something, and said: -So you have girlfriend Potter?, and after that He said See you at school! *with such a eyebrows move* lol jeje, thats funny!

I like the scene with Lockhart in the classroom.
"Let me introduce you to your new Defense the Dark Arts Teacher. Me . Gilderoy Lockhart...Order of Merlin, Third Class...honorary member of the Dark Force Defense League...and five times winner of Witch Weekly`s Most - Charming - Smile Award."And the scene with Lucius Malfoy.
"Now now ,Draco, play nicely.Mr. Potter.Lucius malfoy. We meet at last."I like the whole Quidditch - Match!!!

And the scene with Draco, Crabbe/Ron, Goyle/harry and Percy.
"Crabbe,Goyle, where have you been?Pigging out in the Great Hall all this time? - Why are you wearing glasses,Goyle?"
"Reading"
"Reading? I didn`t know you could read."

I can't stand Lockhart. He is so full of himself. I can't understand why all the girls swoon over him. He ugly too. There are much better looking guys around. lol But I do like the part (its a deleted scene) where they had to take a test and all the questions were about Lockhart, and Lockhart compliments Hermione for knowing his favorite color.
And if you watch all the way through the credits it comes up with another small scene. You see a picture of Lockhart on a book and he has a straight jacket on. I loved that the first time I saw it. His hair was all messed up.

I liked spiders, but then again I didn't, I'm so afraid of spiders. Ron did better then I would have in there. Dobbie was great, I like Dobbie a lot. He is so cute in the books helping Harry all the time.

I loved Lockhart in this movie -- he was so unbelievable that he was funny. When the Cornish pixies were loose -- not only did gilderoy run away, but the gilderoy in the painting also ran away.
I agree with Wednesday -- the slugs scene should have been more like the book. In the book Hermione did not even know what the term meant, but she could tell by everyone else's reaction that it was bad.
BTW in the interviews, Rupert points out that the slugs were flavored & were very good tasting.

"Chamber of Secrets" was my favorite movie, which is a bit ironic since it is my least favorite book in the series. The only time I read the second book before the movie came out was just after the book's release; having gone into the movie after a bit of a hiatus, I wasn't as obsessed with the movies sticking to every single little detail of the books as I am now. I suppose that that contributed to my enjoyment of the movie to a degree.

I was impressed with the scene in the Chamber at the end -- when the basilisk came out of the water just before Harry killed it, I was so surprised that I screamed (and it continued to surprise me the second time I watched the movie... and the third... and the fourth... and the fifteenth... you get the idea...).
My favorite part of the movie, however, was the Transfiguration class. I always find it funny when they invent or change spells for the purposes of the script (like how Hermione uses "finite incantatem" to blow up a Bludger... I thought that was supposed to counter the effects "rictusempra" or "tarentellegra"...

), but my favorite-ever Warner Bros.-invented spell has to be "ferraverto" (something Professor McGonagall shows the kids to turn an animal into a water goblet). Draco Malfoy makes a very weird eyebrow-raising face after watching the demonstration of the spell, which I find intensely amusing for some reason, but the funniest thing was when I stopped to consider the
purpose of the spell. When you really think hard about it, the idea of a spell that specifically transforms an animal into a water goblet is incredibly bizarre. But I guess it could save you if you
really needed a water goblet and the
only thing you had at hand was an animal, eh? (credit to Sally-Anne Perks for this brilliant logic) Just our weird senses of humor...

Cos is my favourite book, but least favourite movie. I find the director did a very bland job on it, and the terrible script doesn't help much either.

Ok, so im watching COS because im home alone and i have a quick question. Hermoine uses a spell (occulus reparo) in Diagon Alley. How come she can do this? she's under age. Is it because it's an all magical place? i just was wondering...
Vincent
Aug 19 2005, 03:07 AM
Yeah, I think so Keepstar. The whole reason that underage magic isen't allowed on vacation is because even if you are in a wizarding house, something could go wrong and affect muggles near you. But Diagon Alley is a total wizard place, as is Hogsmeade, so you're allowed to do it there.

I actually really liked this film but i hated the book..I've only recently reread the book. Malfoy's behaviour was appalling in the 2nd book- i cant remember him being this bad.
My favourite parts in the film was of course:
1)Diagon alley with Draco and His father. Mainly when Lucius turns on Hermione and says 'and you must be miss Granger...yes Draco's told me all about you. That bit just has me in stitches. Its the facial expressions and everything.
2) When Hermione tells draco he brought his way on the team and he rounds on her. I love putting it slow motion.
3)all the Gilderoy scenes.
4)Hermione turning into a cat.
5)Draco's face after Proffesser mcgonagall tells the story.
6)Crabbe/ron, Goyle/harry and Draco.
How come percy never once put draco in detention. If i was in that position i'd put draco in detention every day..at every opportunity.

I think they probably should have taken a little bit more time on the Basilisk scene, script wise. It was pretty cheesy when Harry was about to die and then he's just like "Oh yeah, phoenix tears have healing powers" and then hes just all better. I think they should have worked that out a little better.

Umm I think you've posted in the wrong thread, mate. You're talking about PoA, aren't you? Coz the scene that you're referring to is in the THIRD movie, not second. Best be more careful next time yeah? The forum you should have posted in is the

I liked any scene with Moaning Myrtle in it. I just thought they did a really good job portraying her. "I was sitting in the u-bend thinking about death..." I mean, isn't that such a Myrtle-ish thing to say? I don't know, I just thought she was really cool. Dobby was funny, too, but I haven't seen him again in any of the other movies, so that was disapointing.
One thing I didn't like was how they cut out the Deathday Party. I thought that would've been a funny scene.

I thought Dobby was very well done, too, but I do just have one complaint. When we first saw him in the movie, he was jumping up and down on Harry's bed. Dobby is a subservient kind of character, and he just wouldn't be jumping on the bed like that. I don't understand why they needed to have him doing this, it didn't really serve any particular purpose.
But, I have to say that, overall, I did like Dobby, and I am disappointed not to have seen him again in the subsequent movies, especially GoF

Nothing against Dan, but I didn't like his performance in this film. I loved Rupert, and Emma was alright. In movie One, it was the other way around. I loved Dan, and Emma and Rupert were just 'meh'. I don't know, but I really liked Rupert in this film, moreso than all the other ones. He is just a warm, good natured, funny kid.
The basilisk was created beautifully. The face of it wasn't exactly how I pictured it, but the size and shape certainly was.
One thing I found while watching it the other day was the fact that Riddle turns his back on Harry as he is watching Fawkes. Harry is literally a easy reach from getting his wand back from Riddle who had taken it. I just thought that was a bit funny

.
All around, I liked the movie. Maybe my second or third favorite in general.

This is my least favorite movie, mostly because I think it could been much shorter. It's like a carbon copy of the book, more creativity could of been played with. I know I'm in the minority, but I like that PoA is differnt from the book, but kept to the spirt of the story.

I liked the film very much. I liked how it was true to the book and the special features were great. I really liked the shape and movement of the basilisk.
I think the memory in the diary was well done, I just liked it for whatever reason.
I admit I did also notice Dobby jumping up and down on the bed and thought was odd, that didn't seem like Dobby at all. He was feeling awful, guilty and scared and it just didn't seem fitting to have him do something like that.
Overall, I thought it was excellent.

I'm not rerally sure because i've not watched the film in a long time, but, correct me if i'm wrong. In the scene with the duelling club when Malfoy and Harry are duelling, does Malfoy cast a spell that makes a snake come out of the end of his wand. I'm sure that when i watched it he says, "Sectumsempra." This would make no sense because the is a spell that comes up in the 6th book and has never been heard before.

no Rachel, he says serpensortia ( i think

This was my favourite of all the films

because the first one was quite slow, but the third/fourth were too fast. this one was just right

( and i loved the pixie scene! )

no that bit just doesn't seem right, seeing as Dobby was quite subdued in this book. But he was created well !

Your right Sophie Malfoy says "Serpensortia" and Harry says "Rictusempra" i probably got mixed up with the two spells.
I never thought about the Dobby thing. I suppose the movie people just wanted to show how crazy Dobby is.

I really liked this film. I must say I think it is my second favourite, after PS. That's maybe because they both directed by Chris Columbus, and he was the best in my opinion.
I thought it was so true to the book. Everything was well done. All the characters were really well chosen - Lockhart especially. The special effects were good as well.
Loved it.

This movie was incredibly sappy. I'm sorry, but it was.
"You will come to the same... sticky ... end." (point at arms length)
Harry wielding Gryffindor's sword at the basilisk from the top of Slytherin's statue. (Rikki rakki rock 'em rake, stick that sword into that snake!

)
"It's all right Ginny... It's only a memory!"
"There's only one place we're going to get all of this ... Diagon Alley." (overly dramatic for no reason

)
And last, but not least: GO HAGRID! (final scene; somebody screamed that in the movie theater when I first saw it)
Good scenes:
Ginny: "Mum! Mummy, have you seen my new jumper?"
Mrs. Weasley: "Yes, dear, it was on the cat!"
[Ginny sees Harry; her eyes are the size of dinner plates]
Harry: "Hello."
[Ginny bolts]
Harry: "What did I do?"
Draco: "Why are you wearing glasses?"
Harry (disguised as Goyle): "Reading."
Draco: "Reading? ...I didn't know you could read."

I loved the movie, it was, perhaps the last movie which fulfilled what was actually written in the book( of course, no offence to the makers of other mvies, they have tried their best and I liked them too)
I remember each and every dialouge and whenever I see that mivie I never stop to say the dialouges.
Rupert was great in this movie and I loved the set of the chamber of secrets.
