Signature Rules
  • Lines of text:
    Signatures must contain no more than tenlines of text at normal font [size 1] - Using a larger font decreases the number of lines you are allowed.
    Breakdown:
    Size 1:_________10 lines
    Size 2:_________4 lines
    Sizes 3 and 4:___3 lines
    Size 5:_________2 lines
    Sizes 6 and 7:___1 line

  • Maximum image size:
    Signatures may contain one single image (maximum of 400 pixels wide by pixels 150 tall) or a collection of images that do not exceed an area 400 pixels wide by pixels 150 tall.

    To check the size of your image; right click on the image and select ‘Properties’ at the bottom of the menu. This will give you the size of the image. This will be in a format similar to the following examples:
    • Dimensions: 400 x 150 pixels
    • Width: 400px
      Height: 150px
    With any single image or group of please make sure that it does not upset the layout of the forums. If your signature does disrupt the layout, a moderator will delete the all the contents of your signature without any further notice.

    Please do not post images that are too tall (i.e. 150 pixels wide by 400 pixels tall), these are an annoying waste of space and cause upset to all Veritaserum staff. Result may also result in a full signature deletion.

  • External links:
    Signatures may contain a link to your personal site or sites that may be of interest to other members. No blatant advertising of any form.

  • Language and grammar:
    Signatures are expected to follow the same rules as posts – They must:
    • Not contain any "netspeak",
    • Not be aggressive in any way,
    • Must be rated PG - no mentioning of forbidden topics,
    • Not offend anyone - That includes "Ship" bashing.
  • The lowdown:
    • If you are unsure if your signature is acceptable, please contact one of the moderators before you make a change to it.
    • Do not create a new topic asking about it and do not go ahead and change it anyway. It is much better to check first than to risk a warning later.
    • If your signature does not meet the guidelines it will be edited, no prior warning is needed. Though we may contact you if you are a new member to the Forums.
    • Constantly posting overlarge or offensive signatures will result in your warning level being increased.

*You will notice that you are now allowed up to 10 lines of text in the normal font. There is no change to the allowable image size, so do not add more images to your signature if it already contains the maximum size. This is for page loading purposes. If your signature contains more than 10 lines of normal sized font, it will be entirely deleted: No exceptions. Always preview your signature inside a thread to see if it fits the requirements. Also, if the signature is formatted without spaces, it will break the parchment view of the page and will be deleted. PREVIEW YOUR SIGNATURE INSIDE A THREAD! The margins are different in the signature preview page, so it will not accurately tell you if your signature is too long.
