Well this is my 1st fanfic I hope you all enjoy it. all this fanfic is of course thanks to J.K Rowling, because without her novels i'd never have written this. the book is set 19 years after book 7, so the 21 years ago takes place in harry's 5th year. Harry Potter and the silver veil:
prologue: 21 years ago, the department of mysteries.
Bellatrix lestrange's spell hit Sirius Black squarely in the chest knocking him back.
"Just a stun." He thought to himself as the veil brushed against him. "So why didn't it feel like a stun?" He realized suddenly that he was dying but it was with little shock. He felt himself drift out of his body, which he saw melt away into a silver-white mist. He was on the other side of the veil now, which was clearly some portal between life and death. Only vaguely could he hear Harry calling for him and the sounds of the battle. Surprised with himself he realized that he wasn't at all sad. It had been simpler and easier than falling asleep.
"James." He said to himself suddenly. He would be able to see his old friend James Potter, who had been murdered some 15 years previously by lord Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard in the history of the world. All around him were the ghosts of deceased people, drifting about through a silver mist. And there was James, with his dead wife Lily Potter, and an elderly looking spirit who Sirius only knew as an acquaintance: William Longbottom, the Grandfather of Neville Longbottom who was still fighting in the department of mysteries where Sirius had been only minutes ago.
"James!" Exclaimed Sirius. "Lilly!" The couple look round as did William.
"Haha, Sirius! Long time no see friend." Said James. "So you have finally met your end, doing something idiotically dangerous I suppose?"
"Was just fighting some Death eaters. My own cousin it was that killed me, Bellatrix Lestrange." Sirius spoke quite casually about it. Death was a care-free place.
"We are very glad to see you." Said Lilly. "Though I wish that you could have looked after Harry for a few years longer. We are so proud of him."
"You heard all about it then? The boy who lived and all that. I'm glad you know what he's up to but I can't imagine how-"
"Cedric Diggory." said James and Lilly in unison. "He died at the end of Harry's 4th year at Hogwarts." James explained. "Killed by Peter Pettigrew, that traitorous little rat. Well anyway, Cedric told us all about what Harry had done, how he had broken Voldemort's power, how he had stopped Voldemort from reaching the philosophers stone, how he defeated a basilisk, how he was entered into the Triwizard tournament. It's a good thing we always stay near the border or else we likely would never have met him."
"Well that all seems to fit in nicely, though I'd expect you'd be ready for another bout of information after nearly a year of little to no news." Sirius replied, and he went off on an explanation of all that he knew. He quickly became quite comfortable with death, quite the opposite of how the living Harry Potter was taking Sirius' death.
