Ok, let me just say that I loved Kris and Keith Urban (Keith Urban, right?) together. That was a really good performance.
Also....Bikini Girl and Kara.... WOW!!! I don't even know what to say about that.
And...Adam and Kiss...that was really great. Almost made me like Adam.

That was exactly what I told my wife this evening even before seeing your post. It turned out to be correct. I think Adam has a good future. Kris I think will fade off like many other Idol winners.

Tonights show was great. Kiss, Santana, Rod Stewart and the remains of Queen. Great performances all around.

Did anyone else notice a brief interruption during The Black Eye Peas performance? It was probably due to the use of a swear word in the song lyrics. The TV screen turned blue showing the AI icon and then it returned to the program in progress. It was really quick, if you blinked you might have missed it! That's really a shame because I rather enjoyed their performance.

Some of the other performances I enjoyed were: Rod Stewart, David Cook, Kris with Keith Urban, Allison with Cindy Lauper, Chris Daughtry, and Santana. I really got a chuckle out of judge Kara DioGuardi's performance with the "bikini girl". "Bikini girl" was surprised, out sung and upstaged by Kara! Kara was "the bomb", to use the phrase Randy Jackson has popularized! Speaking of "bikini girl" ~ ahem ~ like Ryan Seacrest said, "I'd ask what's new, but I think I know!" That girl milked her 15 minutes of fame! (and then some)

I'm happy Kris Allen won. It was an upset to many, but when you stop and think about it, it really wasn't. Adam is a very talented and is a seasoned performer. Adam has a flamboyant personality compared to Kris' down to earth personality, and I suppose the majority of the voters saw Kris as the regular guy next door. They are both equally talented and IMO, each was deserving of the title.

Perhaps it's better that Adam didn't win AI because now he can pick and choose the style of music he wants to use in his album. Like Daughtry did. We all know he too has a contract! Kris, on the other hand, will be obligated to what the powers that be (Simon Fuller, etc.) at AI say his premier album will be like. I overheard somebody say that we won't be hearing about Kris in the future (they were upset Adam lost), but I disagree. I think Kris will make himself proud. He has a future in the music industry. No doubt about that.

I have to say, I am an Adam Lambert fan, but I wasnt too dissapointed when kris won. I mean, I voted for adam and feel like he deserved it, but kris is a good guy and a good singer so im happy for him. Also, I have to say i agree with kris' parents when they got interviewed about halfway through the show and ryan asked if they were nervous and they said they had almost forgot about the competition because the show was so good. I thought the whole show last night was amazing, i really wasnt anticipating anything at all. I didnt even think about the winner/loser until kris and adam sung together with about 20 minutes left in the show i was like "oh yea, this is the finale, i bet theyre getting nervous." But overall, i thought it was an outstanding season and i think there could be 3 or 4 big stars that come out of this group. SO good luck to all of the 2009 AI top 13!!

Like I said, today is Thursday and I just got to see the performances. I still think Adam will have the long career. Kris is cute and the girls will love him but they are fickle and he'll drop off the face of the planet after a while.

David Cook was OK last year but it's David Archuleta that gets to support one of the UK's biggest boy bands in the UK. Maybe Cook doesn't think he needs that kind of exposure, playing second fiddle to a brit boyband. It won't do DA's career any harm!

But, that song is awful...I didn't think it did either of them any favours.

i wanted danny to win, i thought he was gonna win from his first audition. i really liked allison too. i totally though adam was gonna win last night! i was so shocked, i thought kris would be gone a long time ago..but i like him enough not to be mad

Wait, Kris won?! It looked to me like he got slapped with a horrendous song that he is required to release as his first single. How is that winning?

I really don't understand how they come up with these terrible songs that they make the winners sing. They should put a little more effort into it. It's not like they don't have a whole year to come up with a good song. People write good songs all the time. Why not let the Idol winners sing one of them once in a while?

I thought both David Cook's song and the one Kris sung at the end was horrendous as well. You are right Albus-Wan, with all the money and backing going into Idol, why are these songs garbage. Has any of them been hits? Not that I recall but I admit I did not breathe Idol all the time so I may have missed some big hits to come from their first song. Kelly Clarkson had a big hit right after Idol but was it her debut song?

Yes, Kris won the right to that "Great" song someone wrote for him and a nice restrictive contract with Simon.

I watched all the seasons of AI except for season 2. I only watched the finale of season 2 because I had heard all the fuss over the final two contestants that year, Ruben Studdard (who won that year) and Clay Aiken (the runner up). I remember a lot of people who cried "foul" when Ruben was crowned AI that year, so many favored Clay. And, in season 2, Kimberly Locke placed 3rd, she was the "Danny Gokey" of that season. You could say season 2 was very similar to this years season. Since I didn't watch that season, I can't speculate as to why Clay didn't win, other than the fact that Ruben was so popular. Ruben was dubbed, "the velvet teddy bear", because he is a heavy set man with some golden pipes.

As far as whether of not any of the finale songs chosen for the winner ("coronation songs") have become hits, here is what I found:
Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson's, "A Moment Like This" was quite successful.
Season 2 winner, Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings" debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Season 3 winner, Fantasia Barrino's "I Believe" was #1 on the charts.
Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood's "Inside Your Heaven" was #1 on the charts that year, soon followed by the hit "Jesus Take the Wheet" which launched her as a country singer.
Season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud" did well, but Taylor had a difficult time staying afloat. He only recently resurfaced with a new album and under a different label.
Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks' "This is My Now" did well but "Tattoo" did much better
Season 7 winner, David Cook's " "The Time of My Life" debuted at #3 on the Hot 100

Some AI contestants, regardless of where they placed in the competition, have successful careers in the entertainment industry. Jennifer Hudson, as most of us know, has received an Academy Award for her performance in the motion picture, "Dreamgirls". So, I have no doubt that Adam Lambert will do just fine despite the fact that he didn't win AI. Kris Allen will do just as well. I hardly think he will slip into oblivion!

My congratulations to Kris, Adam, and to the whole top 13 for that matter!

I was sooo happy when Kris won!!! I LOVE HIM SOOO MUCH!!! HE IS SOOO AMAZING!!! I squealed and cried when he won!!! I'm gonna see if my mom can order me a bunch of K.A. tshirts form cafe-press. I LOVE KRIS!!! HE IS SOOO HOTTT!!! sorry if im annoying [anyone] but I LOVE KRIS ALLEN!!!
