Chapter One: Summertime

The students from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just arrived to Kings Cross Station, Platform 9 3/4. The students were fresh out of their school year, heading back into the muggle world with their families for the summertime. There was a girl surrounded by her friends with bright, flaming red hair; her name was Lily Evans.
Lily Evans had just completed her sixth year at Hogwarts. She was a good height, slim, beautiful, with fiery red hair and ravishing green eyes that glowed like emeralds. She was an extremely talented witch, with a feisty temper at times. Lily was born a muggle, and had one older sister named Petunia; she loathed Lily for her beauty and talent. Her parents, Jack and Diane, however, loved their youngest daughter very much. Lily was busy saying goodbye to her three best friends when she noticed her parents talking to two people, whom she had never seen before. Lauren, Emma, and Elizabeth were Lily's closest friends. The four of them were the smartest, most talented, beautiful girls of their year. Lauren had curly brown layered hair with natural blonde highlights, bright blue eyes, and a nice figure. She was slim, but muscular; you could tell she was sporty. Lauren had a temper as well, but it didn't come often; you did not want to cross the line with her. Emma had wavy shoulder length blonde-brown hair along with brown eyes. She was shy and quiet, but not around her friends. She had long legs and a peaceful aura. Elizabeth had gloden hair; it was always perfectly straight and flowed elagantly off her shoulders. She was a bold girl who wasn't afraid to stand out. All four girls were extremely caring, warm-hearted and friendly. At school, they had many friends, and were easily likeable.

"Lily! Promise you'll write to us" Emma said as Lily rolled her eyes.
"Emma, you know I always do!" She said exasperatedly hugging the three of them. "I love you all so much!! I have to go to my parents, keep in touch, I'll need it with no one other than Petunia"
They all laughed, shared one last hug and went their separate ways to their parents. Lily started scrutinizing the people conversing with her parents, when she noticed James Potter was among them now.
James Potter was one of the four famous Marauders at Hogwarts. Lily particularaly loathed him, due to the fact that she believed him to be none other than an arrogant bully, who just liked to pick on others, and oh, he asks her out almost every time they cross paths. It was due to this that she disliked him so much. To her, she thought he believed himself to be irresistable. It made her sick. James was tall, handsome, with jet black, untidy hair, and hazelnut eyes that made girls melt when they looked into them. He played Quidditch, so he had a very tone muscular body, which made him even more appealing. Sirius Black, best friend and fellow Marauder, had long black hair and soulful eyes that usually made the ladies swoon. He too was tall, handsome, and had a nice body from Quidditch. Sirius and James were inseperable; they were the pranksters of the school, and had their own personal fan clubs full of girls. They were undoubtedly the most wanted boys in the school. The third Marauder was Remus Lupin; he was tall, with light brown hair, and blue eyes. He had a well built body, but did not play Quidditch. Remus is very smart, and the girls often think he has a mysterious look to him. The last of the bunch would be Peter Pettigrew. Peter was nothing compared to the other three; he was short, chubby, and not very attractive. They were the most popular boys in the school, almost every girl would do anything to be with a marauder.
James was madly in love with Lily, and usually when he was around her he acted like a complete idiot which helped with Lily's vow to hate him for all eternity. She didn't care for him the slightest bit.
"See you Jack, Diane!" The man called
"Bye Evans!" James yelled
"See you Potter" Lily replied out of politeness.
"Lily! I missed you so much!" Her mother cried, engulfing her into a giant hug.
"Hey flower! I've missed you too, come here" He gave her a kiss on the head.
"I missed you too daddy" She said beaming; Lily has always been extremely close to her father.
"All right, let's go home"

-*-*-*-

"Mum, Dad, why were you talking to the Evans?" James asked.
"Oh, well, you see James, your father and I will be going out of town for the last month in the summer unfortunately, so you'll be spending it at their house," She replied.
'No way!! A month at Lily's house! Maybe I'll be able to actually show her I've changed...but she usually doesn't give me the time of day...who cares! This is awesome!'

~+~+~+~

"Mum, was that the Potters that you were speaking to?" Lily asked.
"Yes dear, you see, the Potters will be leaving for the last month of the summer, I offered for James to stay with us. He's such a sweet boy and we're doing them a favor," She replied.
"WHAT! Mom. You can not be serious. He's an arrogant, big-headed jerk! How am I supposed to be in the same house with him for a month?!" Lily cried hysterically causing her father to jerk the steering wheel.
"Sweetheart, he's a nice boy. Give him a chance...he reminds me of your father when he was younger actually," She said thoughtfully.
Lily didn't know what her mom meant by that, and quite frankly, she could care less. All she knew was that James Potter was staying at her house in a month, for a month. This was torture, but there was not a thing Lily could do about it, so she crossed her arms, and remained silent for the rest of the ride home.

Like it? Don't like it? Please let me know! Once I figure out how to do that click through thingy, I'll put it up, but please leave me some feedback!

Hi again! Here's chapte two, I hope you like it. A special thanks to hot-for-harry and agriggs6 for the feedback! smile.gif

Chapter Two:

They arrived at home in good time and her parents, knowing that Lily not talking to them would soon come to a halt, let her unpack with out any disruption. She came out of her room when she heard a car door slam.
'Ugh, what does Petunia see in that man!'
Her sister Petunia, and her boy friend, Vernon, (who in Lily's mind looked like a walrus), had just arrived home.
'At least he's not staying,' this brightened her up a bit as Vernon pulled out of the drive way. Petunia was the complete opposite of Vernon. She was tall, very stick like, and bony. She had twice the normal amount of neck, while Vernon had none. She was a very nosy girl, and everything with her had to be perfect.
"Hey Petunia! Have a nice year?" Lily felt that her questions would be tossed aside carelessly, but she always asked anyway.
"Ugh. The freak is back," she shoved past Lily and slammed her door shut.
'Well this will just be a brilliant summer won't it?'. She headed back upstairs, went to her room and finished unpacking. She decided, keeping her promise, to write letters to Lauren, Emma, and Elizabeth. They all contained the same thing:

Dear Lauren, Emma, and Elizabeth,

HELP ME! James Potter, yes, James, will be staying at my house for a MONTH. A MONTH! What am I going to do?! Oh, and Petunia hasn't changed a bit of course. But Potter! At my house! For a month! I am literally going to die. I miss and love you lots!

Love,
Lily

She had a snowy owl whose name was Amber, after the color of her eyes.
"Thanks Amber," she hooted softly, and flew off. Lily just sighed, plopped down on her bed, and fell asleep.

~*~*~*~

She woke up the next morning feeling very refreshed. After breakfast and a shower, Lily saw Amber floating outside her window.
"Amber! That was fast!" The gorgeous owl just hooted, gave her an affectionate nibble with her beak, and flew to her cage. All three wrote back.

Dear Lily,

Number one, who cares about Petunia? Honestly love, did you think she was going to change? Number two, OMG. James Potter?! At Lily Evans' house for a month? That will be fun! Just be nice, and give him a chance. He's nice and not to mention totally gorgeous. But my eye is on someone else, not telling just yet though! You may already know though...love and miss ya! BE NICE.

Love,
Lauren

'Typical Lauren...I wonder who she likes! Maybe it's Sirius, she kept talking about him at the end of the year...'

Dearest Lils,

I do hope you weren't expecting too much out of Petunia. James is staying at your house for a month? That's exciting! Lily just give him a chance, the Marauders really aren't that bad-Lily just snorted-they just mess around a lot. I was talking to Remus, and he said that he get so nervous around you thats all! Hey do you know who Lauren likes? I'm trying to figure it out but I don't know. Don't be mean Lily! Love you lots and miss you!

With Love,
Emma

'Be nice...be nice, that's what everyone says, be nice,'.

Lily!
James at your house for a month?! That's perfect! BE NICE LILY EVANS. Petunia is just jealous, don't worry about her. So sorry it's short, but really just breathel, and don't worry. It will all be ok. Love you! See you soon hopefully!

Lots of Love,
Liz

'Be nice again! All right, I will be nice, and once he still acts like an arrogant git, they'll all be eating their words,' and with that triumphant thought, she went on with her day.

-*-*-*-

The next few weeks went by slow for Lily. She stayed at home, went out with some muggle friends, and decided to not do her homework just yet.
'Yes, I'll wait until Potter gets here; the less time spent with him, the better,".

Like it? Don't? Let me know please! Sorry, I know this chapter is a little slow, but it'll pick up soon! I promise! biggrin.gif Thanks a bunch!

Chapter Three

Lily woke up wondering why she felt so peculiar today.
'Ughhh...how could I forget? Potter comes this morning,' she grumbled and got out of bed.
"Lily dear, James is coming today! So please be nice to him,".
"Fine Mum," Lily felt that this was going to be a horrible, horrible day. She was already downstairs waiting for James while her mother was making sure everything looked good.
"Mum, where's Petunia?"
"Oh, well, she's out at the moment dear..." she answered, distracted by cushion pillows.
"Well, I don't know how decently she is going to take to James being here..." she bit her bottom lip and trailed off.
"I know dear, but that doesn't matter. Oh goodness! He's here! Come, come,".
"Let's get this bloody over with," she mumbled to herself. Mrs. Evans shot her a stern look as she opened the door.
"Don't worry, don't worry, I'll be nice,".
"Diane! So good to see you again! Thank you so much!" Then the lady saw Lily. "Ahhh, so you must be Lily! I'm Carolyn Potter. It's so nice to finally meet you," Carolyn had a warm smile on her face, and Lily instantly took to her.
"It's really nice to meet you too Mrs. Potter!" she said with a sincere smile.
'James obviously didn't get his charm from her'
"Oh pish-posh, none of this Mrs. Potter stuff. Call me Carolyn!"
Lily chuckled and replied "If you insist,".
"Hey Evans," the tall, slim but muscular, wizard with messy jet-black hair and glasses stood right before her in her doorway, with a large smile on his face.
'What do you know, he hasn't changed a bit'.
"Hi Potter,".
"Lily dear, why don't you show James his room? His luggage is already there,".
"All right, come with me please," she indicated to the stairs leading up.
"Right, nice house you have Evans,".
Lily was taken aback by this.
"Erm...thanks. Ok, this is my room, yours is right next to it, and across the hall right here, is my sister Petunia's. (You don't want to talk to her, she whispered. He chucked, "If you say so,".) There's a bathroom right here, sorry you have to share with me. I can show you the rest of the house later I suppose if you would like,".
"Sure! That'd be great thanks,".
James observed all the pictures of Lily's childhood and her family, while she stood there rather awkwardly.
"James dear! I'm leaving, so come down here and say goodbye to your Mum!"
They both laughed as they headed down the stairs.
"Love you Mum. Have a good trip, tell Dad the same fore me," James told her as he hugged Carolyn.
"I will dear. Be good, don't cause any trouble. Love you so much! Thank you again! Bye Lily!" she called.
"Bye Mrs...er...Carolyn!"
"James, I'm like your mother, I want you to call me Diane. Please make yourself feel at home.
"Thanks so much Diane,".
Lily showed him the rest of the house and while they were about to go upstairs, Petunia came home.
'This ought to be good,'.
"Brace yourself James," he was confused, Lily just sighed and said,
"Petunia, James is here as a guest, he'll be staying for a month. Please come down and meet him,". James didn't know what she meant by that until-BAM. Petunia flung her door open and screamed,
"I do not want to meet your weird friends! Don't even waste your time associating me with yourself you FREAK. I'm so tired of you and all of your...abnormal things! Get out of my life! No one even likes you anyway, you're a bookworm, teachers pet, ugly, wannabe freakshow. Boys don't like you, so don't act like you have friends. I.hate.you." and with that, she slammed her door again. James stood there with blank shock on his face.
'How could anyone be so mean to her like that! Let alone their own sister...I never knew any of this,' he thought, he felt so bad for Lily, but didn't know what to say.
"Lily honey...she's probably just not in a good mood..."Diane trailed off.
'I knew she never really liked me anymore, but she seems to hate me now. She said she wanted me out of her life...I miss my Tuney!'
She felt the tears form in her eyes but hadn't moved yet, she began to recall all the memories of when they were best friends, and did everything together.
"I miss her," she whimpered to herself. Tears were streaming down her face. She ran out of the room, feeling completely humiliated, and flung herself onto ther bed.
"Sorry James, I don't think we should talk to her just yet. We'll wait for her to come to us,".
"All right, Diane? Does this happen often?"
"Not like that. Petunia doesn't like Lily being a witch, but she seems to have taken it further than that,". He nodded and said,
"I'll go unpack,".

~+~+~+~+~

Lily heard James coming up the stairs.
'Please leave me alone...I'm not in the mood for him right now,'. When he didn't come in her room, she sighed and fell into a deep slumber.

Like it? Didn't? I should have Chapter 4 up tonight, I just have to go do homework dry.gif Thanks for reading! biggrin.gif

Feedback here please! : )

Hey! I'm back, to my faithful readers, even if I don't know you, I wanted to say thanks again! biggrin.gif Here's chapter four as promised.

Chapter Four

James was done unpacking so he got out his two-way mirror.
"Padfoot,".
"Hey Prongsie boy! How's it at Evans? Ask her out yet?"
"Well, she hasn't yelled at me yet, and suprisingly I haven't asked her out yet...maybe that's why! Anyway, listen to this..." he told Sirius about Petunia's lash out on Lily.
"Wow, I had no idea things were like that between Lily and her sister...she and my Mum should get together. They'd have a grand old time,".
"I didn't either, she's quite good at hiding it. But anyways, how've you been?"
"Haha, not bad since two hours ago when you left for Lily's house," they both laughed silently. "We need to see each other soon, but my Mum's about to have a hissy-fit, I have to go," he rolled his eyes.
"We will! Don't worry! See ya Padfoot,". James sat on his bed thinking of all the memories he and Sirius have shared. They were inseperable, like brothers. James was an only child and Sirius practically didn't have a family. He just chuckled.
"I love that guy,".

-+-+-+-

The next day Lily felt terrible. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night, and she felt bad for James.
'Even though he's an arrogant git ninety nine percent of the time, he was polite yesterday, and not even he deserves to have to put up with Petunia,'. She forced herself out of bed, pulled her hair up, and decided to go apologize to James, with an attempted offer for friendship.
'I really hope I don't regret this,'.
James was already there when she got down the stairs, eating some toast; he looke up.
'Oh merlin...I hope I don't do something stupid. Just relax, breathe James,'.
"Lily?" she stopped in her tracks.
'Did he just call me by my first name?' she raised an eyebrow.
"Yes?"
"Are you, you know, all right?" she sighed.
"Yes I am, thanks for asking. I'm so sorry about all of that yesterday...how are you?" she took a seat in front of him.
'This isn't half bad...yet,'.
'YES! A decent converstion so far, no yelling, that's a good sign. Don't screw this up,'.
"Good thanks, and you don't have to apologize. No offese, but I think Petunia should apologize to you though, that wasn't exactly nice, I think you're amazing,". A pink tinge immediately creeped up to his cheeks.
'Shoot. That probably upset her,'. But suprisingly she laughed.
"Thanks, but false hopes there; Petunia hates me. She won't apologize," she got herself some toast and sat back down.
"Listen, I really wanted to talk to you,".
"Oh goodness! I'm sorry, what ever I did I'm sorry, I don't know what it was but I-" he stopped abruptly due to the bemused expression on her face.
"What?"
"You're funny, you know that?" he chuckled.
"I try, but seriously, what did I do?"
"You didn't do anything, though usully it is you, shockingly this time it isn't. I just wanted to say, that since we're going to be in this house for a month, together, I should try to get along with you. So what say you? What I'm asking is, do you want to be friends with me?" James' jaw dropped open.
"I...I, well I...you? me? You and me? Friends? You want to be friends with me? Yes!! Absolutely yes! Only one condition though, we call each other Lily and James,".
"It's a deal, I can live with that,". James smailed wide, and his eyes filled with excitement.
'Well, here goes nothing, he couldn't even say anything!' she giggled quietly and continued eating her toast.

~+~+~+~

Immediately when James got into his room he yelled,
"PADFOOT!"
"My god Prongs! What happened? Evans yell at you?"
"No! No, no even better, you just wait, Lily Evans, my Lily Evans, wants to be friends with me! Since we're going to be in the same house for a month! She came downstairs to aske me! Lily Evans wants to be friends with me!"
"Whoa! Man, that's awesome! Congrats!"
"Lily Evans and I are friends!"
"I broke up with Karen earlier. I've liked Lauren for a while now, but I just don't know,".
"Aww, Padfoot likes Lauren. It would be perfect! You and Lauren, and Lily and I," he said dreamily. "I have to go though, I wanted to tell you,".
"Bye Prongs!" he said blowing a kiss, which James caught and playfully winked back.
"You shouldn't have!" he said laughing, "See you Padfoot," he went downstairs to work on the horrible potions essay that lay ahead in his very near future.
'Lily is willing to help you though, look at it that way,' and that mere thought brightened his whole prospect on potions.

Chapter Four! What do you think? Like it? Don't? I've already said this, but it picks up in the next few chapters. Thanks for reading!

Hey guys! Here are the next few chapters. Thanks for reading, and thanks hot-for-harry, for the wonderful feedback!

Chapter Five

Lily was suprised about how well she and James were getting along. It had already been a week; he was very happy to just be friends, even if he wished they were more. At teh moment, they were sitting out on the porch taking in the warm rays of the sun.
"James," she said suddenly. He smiled,
'I love the sound of her voice saying my name,'. She looked at him,
'Why does he always smile when I say his name? I don't understand boys sometimes...'\
"Yes?"
"When's your birthday?"
"It's in three days...why?"
"July 31st, right, thanks,".
'I'm going to give him a good birthday,".
"Lily?"
"When's yours?"
'I think it's August 7th...'
"Actually, mine's just a week after yours, August 7th,".
"I see...," he sat there thoughtfully.

~+~+~+~+~

Lily and James went inside for dinner.
"Daddy!" she ran and gave him a hug, she loved her father very much. He laughed.
"How has my flower been today?"
"Lovely! The sun felt really nice, how was yours?"
"Good actually, I got a lot of work done. Hello James!" James waved back.
"Hi Jack!"
Lily, James, Jack, and Diane talked during dinner the entire time, they had many topics, so it was a good night. Lily zoned off into her own little bubble, forgetting where she was.
'Wow, James is being so polite, maybe he has changed. He hasn't even asked me out once the entire time he's been here! It's absolutely...shocking. He seemed so annoying an arrogant at school around his little posse. But now it seems like he's really matured...and not to mention he's kind of cute. WHOA Lily! Stop. You did not just think that,' she popped out of her bubble; they bid her parents goodnight and went up the stairs. Lily was ready to go to bed, but bounded down the stairs once more to talk to her mom really fast.
"Mum, James and I are going shopping tomorrow, is that all right? Oh, and also, his birthday is on the 31st, and I wanted to have a few friends come over if that's ok,".
"That's fine dear, have a good sleep!"
"Thanks Mum! You too!"
She did have a good sleep, it was effortless as she fell onto her pillow, going into a deep slumber.

Chapter 6

The sun streamed through Lily's window, and feeling a sudden warmthness, she felt extremely alert. She decided to go wake up James. She creeped into his room. He was dead asleep, and half of his blankets fell off through the course of the night. Lily smiled and bit her bottom lip.
'He looks cute when he sleeps,' she just sighed putting her hand on her forehead; she knew that she couldn't deny to herself that she like James a little bit.
'It's ok to like him a little right?' James slept in shorts, no shirt.
'Wow! He really does have a nice body...it must be from playing Quidditch. Hmmm, he looks so peacful. I must change that,'.
"James," she said softly. No movement.
"James," only a little louder, still no movement.
'Jeez! He sleeps like a rock!' this continued until she yelled for the fifth time.
"JAMES!" he finally stirred.
"Lily, what's wrong, why are you? What happened? Waking me up...?" he was extremely confused and panicked. Grabbing his glasses, he sat up. Lily rolled her eyes.
"All right Sleeping Beauty, I-" she was cut off.
"Who's Sleeping Beauty?"
"Umm...nevermind. Anyways, get up! There's breakfast downstairs and we're going shopping today,".
"Oh yay! I just love shopping, all the shoes and clothes. It just makes me so happy!" he jumped out of his bed and danced around twirling his arms. Lily laughed.
"I just knew that you would be so excited," she said sarcastically.

~*~*~*~

Half an hour later, they were ready to go.
"Well you ready to go shopping muggle style?"
"I'll give it a whirl,".
When they arrived at the mall James was looking around curiously.
"Come on! Where should we go first?"
"Lily...do I look like a girl? You're the one who has this down to an art, not me. I'll do whatever you tell me,".
"Hmmm, anything?"
"Well, within reason, yes,"
"Music to my ears, let's go!"
'Ok that may have been a bad idea...'.
After many hours they had tried on a ton of clothes and were holding several bags with their purchased items. Lily picked James some new, chic clothes for him. James decided to pick out an outfit for her to try on.
"Ok, try this on,".
"I guess that's fair isn't it? Wow, it's a very formal dress...".
He snorted,
"Yes it is completely fair seeing as I was just forced to try on half of this mall for you,".
"Not half of the mall, but close," she smirked.
"I know it's formal, but I thought it would look good on you, go on!".
"Yeah but you had fun! Don't deny it,".
"Of course I did, this is my ideal day...didn't you know?" she smiled at him, and their eyes locked for a moment. Lily blushed scarlet and said hurriedly,
"I'll be out in a moment,". He sighed and ran his hands through his hair automatically.
"She's so gorgeous,". He looked around the dressing room adn then Lily's voice rang out saying his thoughts.
"This is a really nice dressing room. Well James, I must admit you have very nice taste; this dress is beautiful. Would you like to see?"
"No" he said sarcastically, "I just liked the mannequin,".
Lily stepped out and James thought gorgeous was suddenly an understatement. The dress was strappless, emerald green, and it fit her perfectly; it brought out all of her curves. Her green eyes popped and her hair was flowing down her shoulders. James just gaped, his eyes running up and down the dress.
"James?" she asked tentatively
'Oh dear...it probably doesn't look good on me,'.
"You look...stunning," that's all he could manage at the moment, he was having difficulty speaking. He felt as if there waas this pit at the bottom of his stomach, bubbling.
"Thanks! I love it!" she said relieved, twirling in a circle.
He chuckled,
"My mum taught me everything,".
'I could get used to this...'
"I'll be out in a minute. Though I must say, I would rather just keep it on, this dress makes me feel so...confident in a special way,".
"Well maybe I'll buy it and then you won't have to!" they laughed.
"No, that's all right. James, I have one more store I want to go to, but you can't come so..." she trailed off.
"That's fine, I need to get something as well,".
"Cool, so I'll meet you in about, a half-hour?"
"Sounds good to me," they went their seperate ways.

Thanks for reading! Hope you liked it biggrin.gif

Chapter Six

Lily had no intention of getting something for herself. She found herself tinking about James the whole way to the store, and that didn't bother her the slightest.

'He was being so polite, caring, nice, funny, and best of all not an arrogant bullying git. Hmmm, a complete gentleman, strange! Plus there is the added bonus of the fact that he is unbelieveably gorgeous...'

Laurens voice rang through her head from the previous year.

"Lily Evans! How do you not like James Potter? I mean look at him, tall, dreamy, gorgeous, Quidditch captain!"

She had retorted back saying that even though he may have had the looks, but she stated he didn't have the personality; something Lauren found absolutely ridiculous.

'Ugh! What if they found out! Those girls would freak out. No matter, I don't like him anyway! I swore to hate him all eternity.' She felt a blush creep up to her cheeks.

A little voice inside her head said,

'But that was before you decided to give hime a hance sweetie. Now that you have, you've seen the other side of James Potter, the sentimental side.'

Lily entered the shop deciding the silly little voice possibly won this debate.

"Hello!"

"Hello Miss, how may I help you today?"

"Yes, umm, I was wondering, could I look at some watches please?"

"Not a problem, right this way please. Did you have a particular model in mind?"

"No, I just wanted to look. My friends birthday is coming and I thought this would be a nice present."

"Ahhh, that it is! If you need any assistance or would like to see a watch, please don't hesitate to ask."

"Thanks so much!"

Lily took her time browsing through all the watches, she noticed several that she liked, but it wasn't completely what she had in mind. Then she finally found what she thought the perfect one was. It was gold, with red numbers, a gold moon was in the middle, and three stars were on the right side of it. It reminded her strongly of Gryffindor, and she loved it.

"Did you find one you liked?"

"Yes, I would like to buy that one please" she said, pointing to the watch.

"Here you are! I hope you have a lovely day."

"Thankyou!"

'It's perfect! James will love it.'

She was walking to where she and James had planned on meeting, while having a large smile on her face. She decided she might have a little, tiny, school girl crush on James. Maybe. But she was only willing to admit that to herself; her friends, she was not quite sure of yet.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

James had noticed a jewelry shop while he and Lily were walking around the stores. He quickly found it again and started looking at all the necklaces, he thought he saw one in the window that would look nice, but decided it was too gaudy. He must of looked at a few dozen necklaces when he started to lose hope. But then he found one he liked. It was simple, but at the same time, elegant. He decided it would be perfect for Lily.

"Hello sir, can I help you with anything today?" the lady helping James was an older woman, who seemed so sweet, he couldn't help but smile.

"Yes please, I was wondering, would you mind getting that necklace out for me? I wanted to take a better look at it."

"Ooh, yes. That's a right lovely piece there, young sir. Were you planning on buying it for the misses?"

She delicately placed the necklace on the counter infront of James.

"Well, a really good friend of mine. Her birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to get her something nice..." he wasn't sure why but he started telling the little old lady all about he and Lily's crazy relationship. "I've liked her ever since the day I met her, but she won't give me the time of day. She used to hate me actually. It's gotten a lot better, we're going into our last year of school, and this summer is the first time I think I've talked to her with out being slapped in the face. Half the time I don't even know what I did wrong." He ran his hands through his hair. The old lady chucked.

"Oh your little friend sound just like me sweetheart. I was the same way to my husband a good long time ago. I would always yell at him, told him I hated him, slapped him, and like you said, wouldn't give him the time of day. My friends always gave me a hard time for it, but I was a stubborn little girl." she looked at the ground, sighed, and smiled. "Well needless to say I didn't stay that way forever, I felt bad one day and decided to give the poor boy a chance...I fell in love with him shortly after, and well that was that!" she held up her left hand showing him her wedding ring. "We've been together for 55 years, and I don't regret one minute of it. You listen to me sweetie, don't give up hope. If you like this girl, she'll come around just like I did, and realize how special you are. Remember that. Now now dear, you still like that necklace?"

"I will remember that, thanks. And yes please, I think it's perfect."

The necklace had a silver chain with crystals in random places throughout the chain, then on the bottom, there was a heart. It wasn't too big, but it wasn't too small. It was a noticeable size, but it wasn't all that you would look at. He paid for the necklace, bid the lady a goodbye, gave her a hug, and she gave him a warm smile ushering her out the door. James still had a few minutes so he quickly went into a bathroom stall, and took out the necklace. He whispered a charm, hoping it would work. He took the necklace in his hands and thought of Lily's emerald eyes. Opening his own, he smiled. The charm he put on the necklace allowed the holder to think of any gemstone, and then the crystals on the chain as well as the heart will change that color.

'Perfect! I hope she likes it...' he ran his hand through his hair, put the necklace away, and ran to their meeting spot while a smile on his face.

I'm glad I did the grammar right, I was really worried about that! And thank you for the rating! I made me happy :] Here's chapter 7...again.

Chapter Seven

Lily woke up wondering why she had such a big smile on her face. Then she remembered the pleasant dreams she had, and the lovely day she spent with James yesterday. Looking at her clock, she saw it was only seven o'clock.

Stretching her arms and yawning she thought, 'Well, no point in wasting perfectly good time!' Pulling off her covers, she hopped out of bed, and over to her dresser. She combed her hair; it was silky, soft, and there were no knots that she could find. At times she didn't care for the redness of her hair, but then again, it fit her personality: feisty.

Walking down the stairs she noticed that it looked particularly nasty outside, even for seven in the morning. The sun hadn't completely come out yet, but the birds were still chirping when her eyes fell on a note.

Flower,

Tell James we said good morning! Your mother and I had to leave early today unfortunately. I left some money on the table. You and James feel free to do whatever. Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything! Love you my Lily.

Love,
Dad

Lily read the letter while putting on a kettle of water for tea. She decided that she was in the mood for waffles and sausage for breakfast. She was bustling around the kitchen when she didn't hear James walk in.

"What are you a rooster?" he asked yawning and ruffling his hair, causing Lily to jump.

"James! You scared me!" she gasped holding a hand to her chest.

"Sorry!" he grinned, and had a sheepish expression on his face while Lily however, had a pained expression.

"I'm truly hurt James."

"Why? What happened? Are you ok?" he was immediately concerned.

'He's so adorable...'

A smile began to play on her lips.

"You said I was a rooster, what do I look like I have feathers or something?"

"Oh ha. ha. ha." he retorted crossing his arms and rolling his eyes. "Seriously though, what are you doing up this early?"

"I'm an early bird! I love the mornings, they're so peaceful. I just woke up though, and now I'm making waffles and sausage for breakfast. Care to join me?"

"Yeah! That's my favorite breakfast actually. Sort of funny....do you need any help?"

She chuckled. "Is it really? It's mine as well! I make it all the time. Thanks for the offer, but I think I've got everything pretty much covered."

'Aww! How sweet! He offered to help me! Plus he hasn't asked me out once' she smiled to herself.

"Not a problem." He was looking around the room, which confused her for a moment.

"Are your parents home?" he asked cocking his head around a corner.

"No actually, they had to leave unexpectedly early this morning. They asked me to tell you that they give their regards though! And they said we can do whatever we want."

"That was very nice of them...hmmm. Well Miss Evans, what would you like to do today?"

"Hmmm..." she peered out the window again her mind returning to her previous thoughts coming down the stairs. "Well, its obviously going to storm, that's a given. How about we go see a movie. Would you like to do that?"

"Sure! That sounds brilliant to me."

Lily brought the breakfast to the table and they began eating. James choked on his tea though when Lily suddenly said,

"James! Happy Birthday!! You're seventeen, aren't you excited? You can do magic whenever you want now."

He blushed profusely. "Yeah, I am...thanks Lily." She giggled at how shocked he was that she remembered his birthday. He cleared his throat nervously.

"Lily can I ask you something?"

Her face fell a litte, remembering her thoughts in the kitchen. James notice immediately and quickly added "I wasn't going to ask you out or anything..."

"Oh! Right, of course James, what's up?"

"I know it's not any of my business, but I just can't help but wonder, seeing as I've always wanted a brother or a sister that I could talk to and hang out with, why it doesn't seem like that between you and Petunia. I was just wondering why Petunia seems to...not exactly care for you?"

This was not what Lily was expecting at all. She sat thoughtfully with her head down pondering his question while pushing a piece of her waffle around the plate.

"We used to do everything together...Petunia would do my hair, we would dress up, play together, talk, hang out, be normal sisters...we were the best of friends for the longest time. But every since the day I received my letter to Hogwarts, she has steadily grown to dislike me more and more each year. I know she wishes she could do magic also, so she envies and despises me since I can. I wish we could be best friends again truly I do. I miss her a lot while I'm at Hogwarts, I love her, I still do, but I'm afraid there's not much I can do" she looked up and tears shone in her eyes. She looked so sad James thought his heart was going to break right then and there.

"I'm so sorry Lily...I shouldn't have asked" he wanted nothing more than to reach out those few inches and touch her, hold her, comfort her, but he knew he shouldn't, so he stayed put right where he was.

"No, no! Don't worry, you're fine" she smiled at him. "So, Sirius is like the brother you never had I take it? You two are quite close."

He laughed. "Oh yeah...he's the closest thing I have to a brother seeing as I'm an only child. He's my best mate."

They continued talking while clearing up the table. Heading upstairs though, Lily's mind wandered to her closet and what she was going to wear to the movies.

'Hmmm...why not test and tease James a little bit?' she thought wickedly opening the doors. She flipped through her clothes until she found what she wanted.

A pair of short white shorts with a strapless green top, that would make her emerald eyes simply pop. Her hair was flowing down her back, and she was ready to go.

'Perfect.'

Walking down the stairs James just stood gawking stupidly. Realizing his mouth was open, he shut it quickly, shook his head and said,

"Let's go shall we?"

"Whatever you say birthday boy! I'm driving though."

Following her out the door he realized something.

'Oh sweet merlin...I'm supposed to spend two and a half hours in a dark room with this girl.

After an intense fight of who was paying, Lily won of course, they decided to see an action/romance/mystery/adventure type movie. They took their seats in the back of the theatre and chatted during all of the previews.

'What the hell, why not?'

James smiled and began telling Lily a story about a time when he and his father when fishing.

'I can't believe I'm going to do this' he shook is head and laughed.

"Yeah fishing was definitely interesting. Since it was both of our first time fishing the muggle way, my dad and I decided to have a competition on who could catch the longest fish."

Lily simply smiled and nodded. "Sounds fun! Go on."

"Oh it was, trust me. So after an intense day of fishing, we finished, and I ended up catching the longest fish. His fish was about this big," gesturing with his hands the size of his fish. "My fish however, was this big." He wrapped his arm around Lily's shoulder and gestured how big the fish he caught was. She couldn't help herself, she began laughing uncontrollably.

"Feeling brave are we now James?" she asked still laughing.

'She's laughing! Laughing is better than hitting and shouting'

"Wellll...maybe" he shot her a mysterious look with a lopsided grin. She just shook her head.

"The movie's starting."

'Yes! She's not pushing me away!' he grinned. If he could do a happy dance, he would have.

'All right, he wants to play this game, let's play.'

About ten minutes into the movie she rested her head on his chest and snuggled into him, and ran her hand down his chest. He flashed her a huge smile, unable to believe his luck. She inhaled.

'Oh.my.merlin. James Potter smells heavenly! I can't believe how warm and comfortable he is! But he's still sturdy...he feels quite fit-STOP. Lily focus.' She decided to take things just a little further. She moved her hand to his thigh rubbing it slightly. She felt him lean his head back against the wall, and saw his eyes were closed.

"Lily Evans." He said in such a husky voice, it sent shivers down her back. "I'm having a hard enough time right now as it is."

She just giggled, snuggled closer, inhaling that gorgeous scent again, and continued watching the film.

==============

They left the movie theatre driving home and talking about the movie. They arrived at the house around three o'clock, and James went upstairs to his room. He was rummaging around when he was about to talk to Padfoot through the two way mirror when he heard a scream.

Hello everyone! Sorry, I've been busy with school, sports and such tongue.gif But here is chapter eight...I hope you all like it! And thankyou marauderxforever who inspired me to change up the chapter a tad. Enjoy!

Chapter Eight

James flung his mirror across the room, making it land safely onto his bed, and flew down the stairs.

"LILY!"

She was leaning against a wall crouched with her left hand on her chest, breathing heavily. It looked as if she had almost had tears in her eyes, but James wasn't completely sure. He slid onto his knees and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Lily, oh Lily love what's wrong? Are you ok? Did something happen?" he gently placed his hand under her chin lifting her face up so she would look at him. She didn't have tears in her eyes, but there was definitley a touch of fear, and panic.

"Oh my goodness...James! I-I...I didn't mean to scream I just..." she trailed off covering her face with both of her hands.

"Lily it's ok, I'm here, just...tell me what happened. Merlin you scared the daylights out of me! I thought something terrible happened."

She just took a deep breath and shook her head once more, and a great shiver passed through her, alarming James a tad more seeing as he still hadn't a clue as to what happened.

"Flower what happened?"

"You swear to Merlin you will not laugh at me James Potter?" he had a puzzled look on his face.

'At least she's finally breathing normally.'

"Of course...why though?"

She pointed straight forward.

"Are you pointing to the rather large upside down pot on the kitchen floor?"

"Well, I'm not frightened by the pot obviously...it's just...what is under the pot. Those little buggers give me the shivers."

"Right..." he got up and walked towards it and almost lifted it up.

"WHAT THE BLAZES DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" she shrieked jumping up once more, a stricken look on her face.

"Lily calm down! Nothing will happen to you! I promise."

Her eyes narrowed, fists still in tight balls, but said "If you say so."

Finally picking it up, he heard her take a sharp intake of breath, and out crawled a tiny little spider. He knew he swore to Merlin, and he tried, truly he did, but he couldn't help himself. He laughed so hard he was crying.

"Lilykins that--is--oh I can't breathe--why are you scared? Lils--it's the size of your fingernail." His face was bright red, tears flowing down his face. There was no trace of humor on her face though.

"James Potter. This is NOT funny!" this caused him to laugh harder. "I don't care how small it is! Those buggers creep me out! I can't stand them" she shivered once more.

"Oh Lily" he shook his head walking over to her, and engulfed her into a large hug.

"Not funny" she said, but it was muffled.

'Merlin he smells so good.'

He smiled down at her and gingerly wiped away her tears with his thumb, rubbing his hand on her cheek.

"Are you going to be all right or do I need to stay with you?"

She sighed. "I'll be all right...thanks, and sorry for frightening you James."

"Nothing is ever a problem for you love" he stared into her eyes, letting his hand slide off her cheek.

"Thanks" she felt her knees go weak; every touch made her hormones go wild. It was such a different feeling for her, seeing as this had never happened before. He began walking up the stairs and was almost able to shut his door when--

"JAMES!!" He spun around quickly and began walking back towards the stairs, while Lily who did not notice him due to the fact she was bounding up the stairs, slammed straight into him causing them both to fall backwards.

"Ouch! Sorry!"

"It's fine...what happened? Did the spider bring a friend with him?" he asked resting his head back on the floor. He felt butterflies fly through his stomach, realizing that Lily was still lying on top of him; his heart began to race, she had never exactly allowed this close proximity. She obviously hadn't realized either.

"Oh ha.ha.ha. aren't you funny?"

"I would like to think so, I am a Marauder. So...you know Lily, if you really wanted me that badly that you felt the need to attack me like so, you could have just said something. But by all means, I'm perfectly content with staying like this, unless you would like to go to my bedroom" he flashed a grin at her.

"What on earth are you talking about? Nevermind" she waved her hand dismissively. "When you went back upstairs out Hogwarts letters arrived! And I'm--oh" she realized that she was still laying on him, and quickly went into a seated position.

'Nice Lily...'

"Sorry" she blushed scarlet. His hands ran through his hair, having a slight pink tinge as well.

"Don't be sorry, so we got our letters?"

"Right! Yes, yes we did! Look!" she tapped his arm with excitement, and held up a small little silver badge with red and gold letters. 'HG'

"Lily! Head Girl! That's fantastic! Expected of course, but brilliant none the less. You completely deserve it, I mean you are the brightest witch of our year" he said squeezing her hand, causing heat to rise to her face.

"Thanks, here's yours! It's rather heavy actually, I bet your Quidditch Captain!"

"Merlin I hope so...the cup would be ours if I am" he said fumbling with the wax seal.

'Ooh breathe Lily. I really need to stop blushing around this boy.' He finally opened it, and a badge fell out.

"YES! I'm Captain! Yes! The cup is ours...Slytherin won't stand a chance" he was beaming, and she giggled.

"What did you expect? You're the best flyer at Hogwarts."

"Hah! Thanks! This is brilliant I-" he stopped, another badge in the palm of his hand.

"James? James what is it?" he was holding his letter and it had been obscuring her view.

"No...no, this is impossible. I can't be--no...this is wrong! Remus, he should've..."

"What on earth are you mumbling about?" Not knowing what to say, James just held up his second silver badge with the same red and gold colored letters of 'HB'.

Her first look was confused, then quizzical, then finally, a dawning of comprehension.

"You're head boy? Don't take this the wrong way or anything...but I thought for sure Remus--"

"That's what I thought! Dumbledore must be off his rocker."

"No! Don't think that! You'll be fine! You're just as smart as Remus if not a smidgen smarter, he just obeys the rules a little better than you do sometimes" she gave him a small smile.

"Haha a little better than I do...thanks Lily! Wow, Head Boy. Everyone is going to flip! Wait until I tell my parents, mum will have a heart attack!" you could hear the excitement building in his voice. Lily let out a little squeal and clapped her hands.

"This is so exciting! James! Wait...you and I are Heads. Don't you know what that means?"

"Extra duties?" she laughed.

"No! Well yes, but no! We share the Head Dorm! Oh Merlin, Lauren, Emma, Elizabeth, and Alice are going to freak out. We're going to have such a great year!" she clapped her hands once more, jumped up and down, and before she realized what she was doing sat down on James' lap, flinging her arms around his neck giving him a huge hug, and a kiss on the cheek.

"What the bloody hell have you done with Lily Evans?" he asked her, his breath whirling in her face; he was intoxicating. She blushed and immediately let go of him, mumbling something incoherent.

"You didn't have to move, I like this Lily Evans too" he said with a wink.

"Well I like this James Potter."

A wide grin spread across his face.

"What was that?"

"Nothing, nothing."

'Merlin I don't know how much redder my face can get...'

"No, I thought I heard you say something."

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did!"

"No I--wait what time is it?"

"Umm...about four-thirty. Why?"

"FOUR-THIRTY!? James you need to go to your room now. Stay there until I come and get you."

"Excuse me! I don't think so."

"I do. Now go!" she shoved him towards his door.

"Wait! But why?" she just kept pushing him and shut the door in his face.

'All right, I have less than a half hour to get everything ready...' and with that final thought, she set off to work.
