Chapter 1
“Hermione, don’t worry, you look wonderful. I haven’t seen a bride as beautiful as you. That is the truth; don’t think I am just saying it because you are one of my best friends.”
“Oh, Ginny, I know you wouldn’t lie to me because of our friendship. I just can’t believe I am about to be walking down the aisle today. Truth is, I am scared,” Hermione answered standing in a beautiful white wedding dress. The dress, which was originally her mom’s, was now tailored with a frilled out bottom, and embellished with an array of shining sparkles, and her hair hung down over her shoulders, with a beautiful veil, which also sparkled in the light.
“I am guessing it’s the Nargles causing the fear in you, Hermione. They like to hide in wedding bouquets, and you have been holding yours several times today!” Luna said while trying to fix Hermione’s veil on top of her freshly styled hair.
“Luna it’s not the Nargles, I am just having a hard time knowing I will no longer be an individual. After the ceremony I will be m-married. Its not that I think marrying Ron is terrible. It’s just a huge step in a girl’s life,” Hermione replied.
“Tell me about it! Marriage is a tough thing to go through. You remember, Hermione, you were with me when I threw up while picking out flowers. The big day was four months away, and I threw up! But marriage is great, Harry and I love being together.” Ginny said, not really to Hermione, as if talking to herself.
“Well you must, your expecting in two months!” sounded Luna with her singsong voice. Ginny turned from the window and smiled. The view from Ginny’s bedroom had a great view of the set up. Outside you could see an explosion of pastel pinks and blues.
“HURRY HURRY!” Mrs. Weasley came busting into the room. “We mustn’t have the bride late on her wedding day! Come on! Get a move on it, you only have 30 more minutes, hurry!”
“Mum, calm down. She will be ready, go bother someone else.” Ginny bursted out, but Mrs. Weasley didn’t hear; she was already out the door. “Sorry about her, Hermione, you know mum around stuff like this.”
“Ginny, your mum must have an Umgubular Slashkilter!” Stated Luna.
“I guess so,” Hermione and Ginny said while trying not to laugh.
Ginny glanced out the window once more then said “The seats have all been filled, we must get−”
“Um may I come in?” Harry’s voice sounded from outside the door.
Without an answer Ginny opened the door. “You look spectacular Hermione!” Harry gave Hermione a hug, which was hard since he had to try and not ruin the wonderful dress.
Mrs. Weasley walked into the room and motioned Hermione to turn around, and she placed a lovely diamond necklace around her neck. “I wore this on my wedding day. I thought it needed to be around your neck on your special day as well,” Mrs. Weasley said with a smile.
Hermione looked at herself in the full length mirror that had been placed in the room for the event three days earlier.
“Wow, it’s entirely lovely. Are you sure?” All Hermione received was a small nod.
“Ginny, Harry, Luna, we need you in the living room,” Mrs. Weasly ushered the three out the door and downstairs. Hermione was now alone in Ginny’s bedroom. She walked over to the window and watched her guests mingle in their seats. Hermione’s wedding was nothing like Fleur’s had been. There was no tent, the guest amount was small, and about the only thing the same was the time of year. Summer air was all around, by what Hermione could see, and Aunt Muriel had multiple sweat marks. Even at how grotesque it was she still wanted to laugh. Ron must be holding some major laughter at the moment, Hermione thought. That’s when she looked a little further and saw her soon to be husband. Ron was standing uncomfortably in front of the pink pastel draped podium.
Music sounded, Hermione elegantly came down the rickety stairs and waited at the back door. Mr. Granger came up behind Hermione and took a hold of her hand. “Your mother wanted to see you before this moment, unfortunately Mrs. Weasley told her to take her seat.”
“Dad?” Hermione said with confusion.
“What is it pumpkin?”
“Did mum feel scared right before she married you?”
“She has always told me that she was so scared; it took grandma and Aunt Claire to get herself out of the room. To this day Aunt Claire says your mum’s dress would have been green if they had to wait any longer.”
Hermione only smiled in return. It was now time. The door opened, everyone stood, and Hermione and her father walked slowly down the aisle. Ron waited in the distance for his lovely bride.
“Hermy,” came from behind, and Hermione glanced back and saw Grawp on the last row with Hagrid.
She was now standing beside Ron in front of the podium. “Finally! I have been so embarrassed standing here,” whispered Ron.
Kinsley Shacklebolt stood behind the podium and repeated the words from an old book. Hermione mouthed the words silently, as she had already read the whole book and knew the book word by word. Then came the most important words.
“Do you, Ronald Bilius Weasley, take Hermione Jean Granger’s hand in marriage?”
“I do,” Ron and Hermione both said at once.
“Sorry,” was all Hermione could say.
“It’s okay. Do you Hermione Jean Granger take Ronal Bilius Weasley’s hand in marriage?”
“I do,” Hermione said perfectly this time.
“I now pronounce you two husband and wife.” Said Kingsley smiling.
Hermione and Ron both kissed and Wildfire Whiz-Bangs sounded. Everyone stood and clapped. The ground shook a bit on the account that there was a giant in the crowd. The sun started to fade over the mountain side. If you listened closely you could hear a lovely sound that has only happened three times before. Once at Harry’s duel with Voldemort in the graveyard, another during Dumbledore’s Funeral, and the last time heard was during Harry and Ginny’s wedding. Yes, the sound you could hear was in fact Fawkes.
