We're on to book two in our forums reread! I know it's going quickly, so just keep up as best you can! Discuss when you'd like.

This thread is for general thoughts on CoS as you go through. Feel free to mention things that stick out to you now, clues that you might have missed before, anything you see that you feel worth mentioning on this next read.

Also, feel free to discuss the first book as we continue. Just want to keep things moving!

Since this is a re-read, all sorts of questions have popped up, now that I know the whole story. In CoS, my two main questions are: Why couldn't the Weasley's make their house bigger the same way they made their car bigger? AND Since Hagrid was proven to be innocent of opening the chamber when he was a student, why wasn't he reinstated as a wizard and allowed to do magic? (I will also post these in the question section)

Overall, I'm really excited about this whole re-read. I am picking up on so many "little" clues that JKR thew out at us. The vanishing cabinet that Nearly Headless Nick persuaded Peeves to smash coupled with the cabinet Harry hid in at Borgin and Bourkes proved to be quite important in a later book, as well as some of the objects Malfoy looked at while in Borgin and Bourkes with his father. She rarely mentioned something that wasn't important. Brilliant writing!

I have to say that I;m so xcited to be rereading the CoS it's my fav one out of all of them as I know I have said numerous times. I think it is the funniest book and I love Gilderoy Lockehart he's too funny. laugh.gif I'm on Chapter 5 right now and I know I will read this one quicker cuz I love everything about it and I've watched the move so many times that I already know what comes next it's ridiculous and I also know how the movie differs from the book. But I'm sure more people do as well. But ne who that's all I have to say at the moment.

I've already answered the above ?'s on the other discussion.

To be honest I think that Chamber of Secrets is one of the best wrapped-up books of the whole series. All the questions were answered for me, and I really can't recall anything that I ever wondered about. Maybe I'll think of something as I make my way through it, but I really don't know. I mean, other than this book, the Chamber is never really relevant again. Everything is has either come of before or has a serious significance later in the series. So I don't know. This book seems to be the most independent to me.

I finished Chamber of Secrets today. I read it in two days. I am about to watch the movie version and then start on Ptisoner of Azkaban tomorrow.

I finished the 2nd book and also watched the movie.. this just reminds me of how different the movies can be from the books and how they have so many faults in them. Reading the books are just so much better, and what you get out of the books cannot compare to the movies (although i do enjoy the movies and get excited when each new one is released).

I finished the CoS and watched the movie like 3 times, doing some comparisons. They are so totally different from one another. The movie leaves out alot that the book covers. Oh well I always wondered why noone suspected that Tom Riddle (Voldy) was up to no good while he was in Hogwarts...Was he that clever and manipulative that noone not even DD could see right through his "plastic" facade? He was just so evil and noone was the wiser about his mis-deeds. Maybe Slughorn figured him out when he asked questions about "splitting ones soul"....

I guess that's why he was so good at being "Voldemort". His "'plastic' facade" allowed him to not be suspected of doing evil things (I can't think of another way to say this laugh.gif ). If he was a misfit during school, then the teachers would have had reason to think of him being truly evil, but since he was smart and most likely didn't do many misfit-like things the teachers had no reason to think badly of him.

Sorry if this seems confusing xD
