Full Version: Mistake Or Are Wizards Just Unimaginative?

The Other Boy Who Lived
Does anyone else think that the lack of fiction books and stories in the world of Harry Potter may be a flaw in J.K. Rowling's thinking?

The only wizard fiction in the books is The Tales of Beatle The Bard and those are really only legends to them. I believe that this may not have been a mistake. I think that Rowling just could not comprehend a fiction of fiction. The only other alternative is that the wizards are just unimaginative.

If you think about it, wizard culture has to have been around for as long as muggle culture so they had the same amount of time to develop their writing fashions as muggles.

What do you think?

I think that they were more into series things like informational books. They didnt have the tv shows like we have or anything like that. I think that they were more interested in having the kids excel in magic. And i just thought of this how much more fictional can they go, the have magic and werewolves and giants, its hard to think of other really good fiction when there lives are fictitious.

I agree.

I think that they wanted more to have spells learnt and Potions created and such, rather then fiction, because honestly, fiction to them would be what to us is 'normal' fiction. I think. Or am i just being confusing? Oh, geez.

True they don't have a lot of fiction: There is however, the tales of beedle the bard, the stories written by beatrix bloxam, and mentioned briefly in CoS (Had completely forgotten about this one I just came across it now.) The adventures of Martin Miggs the mad muggle.

That's good thinking but I'm pretty sure they have some stories even they aren't mentioned in series. It's something that J.K. Rowling didn't think of.
