I recently watched the Half-Blood Prince, and had a few questions!
(I haven't read the Deathly Hollows, so please tell me if I'll find anything out in DH. But please try not to spoil anything from DH. biggrin.gif )

Thanks to anyone who answers my questions!

I don't think it's possible to answer these question without having read DH. The most suitable anwers you'll find in the last part, but I'll try to explain the confusions about the movie.

1. So, it's RAB, and it's in DH, why.
2. Voldemort was in the movie, but only as a child. First at 11, then a bit older, you've seen him as Tom Riddle. Btw I really liked his acting.
3. It's not RAD, and it wasn't DD who took the real one, but he needed Harry to help him with the Horcrux, so it wasn't in vaste smile.gif

I hope that helps! But I recommend you to read DH, there you'll get all the answers! wink.gif

As far as your question is concerned, yes, Dumbledore does die in both the book and the movie.

Hi - I'm new to the forums, have only read 1-6 but planning to read DH soon. I saw the HBP in IMAX today which was awesome but have a few lingering questions - I'm sorry if these sound dumb or have already been answered elsewhere on the forums.

So...
-In the movie, the Burrow burns down and no one performs the Aguamenti spell to prevent permanent damage - so, where do the weasleys live, then, in DH? As this doesn't occur in the book, it would seem that DH the book doesn't need to deal with this. But...then how will DH the movie reconcile this? I dunno...

-What was so special about the vanishing cabinets, besides allowing the Death Eaters into hogwarts? Isn't it just a way around the "no apparating within hogwarts grounds" rule - doesn't seem worthy of Malfoy's whole secret build-up. Although I loved the imagery in the movie of the apple bitten and the dead bird...eerie...

-Why is Snape as the HBP so important? The book just gave Harry a bit of a leg-up in potions, and the Sectumsempra curse, which Snape healed on Malfoy in a minute. What is the bigger significance?

-All of the necklaces of importance are confusing me..so there was Merope's (this is book territory now) which is also Salazar Slytherin's, and now the horcrux?, but then there was the cursed one that Katie Bell was supposed to deliver to Dumbledore...in the book, I mixed these up, but in the movie they were clearly shown to be two distinct necklaces...is the latter correct? Is it just a coincidence that two necklaces play important roles in this entry? Also....the one that Merope sold to Borgin & Burke's for 10 galleons - was that the horcrux or the cursed one? Ahh I am so confused lol

And finally (bear with me - i am a noob haha) I got the impression that the mysterious "R.A.B." was a GOOD character, aka not on Voldy's side, because it said the person intended to DESTROY the horcrux, meaning kill a piece of Voldy's soul as harry was trying to do. Am I correct in this assumption?

So I realize that in answering some of these questions, references to DH might have to be made, and I really don't want to be spoiled so could you just say - "will find out in DH" or something?

Thanks so much! smile.gif

1. Well, although I believe this scene was absolute rubbish and unnecessary, as long as the fire wasn't started with dark magic, hen they could just do a few spells and the pace would be good as new (well almost). I really don't know how David Yates plans to fit all of this together, but I'm hoping he doesn't mess it up.

2. Basically, the only role the vanishing cabinets played was that that was how the deatheaters were supposed to get into Hogwarts. Throughout books 1-5 we hear snippets about the Vanishing Cabinet, s we know what it is. In the book, we don't realize what Draco is doing until the very end. I believe that when we find out about how the Vanishing Cabinet was able to transport the deatheaters into Hogwarts, it was supposed to be that "Oh my gosh, I knew that!" kind of moment. Sort of like when a teacher asks a question, and you rack your brain trying to figure it out, and when they finally tell you the answer you realize you knew it all along, but never thought that THAT could be the answer (if that makes any sense laugh.gif ).

3. I don't really know the answer to this one. Sorry lol.

4. Okay, so I'll start with Meropes. Merope's necklace was the horcrux. It had the emblem of Salazar Slytherin on it. When her father went to jail, she took of with it, and after Tom Riddle Senior left her when she was pregnant, she sold the necklace at Borgin & Burkes for money. Later on, Voldemort goes to work at Borgin & Burkes, I think he either takes it or buys it. One or the other (I don't have my book with me at the moment). Then he turns it into a horcrux, which is why it's important.

The cursed one was from Borgin & Burkes that Draco used to try and kill Dumbledore with. That's really the only importance it has.

5. This one I cannot answer for you. You'll eventually find out in DH.

Hope this helped! happy.gif

Ahh thanks so much for your answers, that definitely helped. I never expected the series to become so complex! Although what was with the random "I get off at 11" girl at the beginning lol.

That was one of the most usless things they put in the movie. It was like they were trying to make him more of a "player" than he actually was. Although, one thing I didn't get was that Harry was reading The Daily Prophet in a MUGGLE cafe. And if I remember correctly, the waitress actually said she thought she saw one of the pictures move. Truly useless lol

Alot of the scenes in HBP were total rubbish..The cene at the begiing with Harry in the cafe, that was sooo stupid and completely unrelated to the story. The Burrow burning down totally peeved me off, that leads us to wonder....Where on earth will the Weasleys live now that their precious home is burned down? Are they going to use magic in the DH movie and "rebuild" it? I was also upset with the way it all ended with Harry "confronting" Snape? If I'm not mistaken in the book Harry found out that Snape was the HBP way before the movie showed he did....

I believe Snape is so important because of his role in DH. And beside, it's hinted that he had a tragic childhood as Harry finds out in OotP and later in HB, this might be the cause of his inclination to Dark Arts - an abandoned and tormented child like Snape wouldn't turn very good, no? Or at least, that's what is wanted to imply. Oh, and there's another thing - Snape saved Harry in PS and now he was helping - indirectly though - in HB. He is important to Harry's life, no matter what. If you still haven't read DH, you should and you'd find more ^^

As for the rest of the movie...I could say that I got my hopes up and ended up all crushed ^^. I mean, the trailer seemed to predict awesome plot - a more accurate story taken from the book. But...honestly...it disappointed me a lot - I refrain myself from calling it a disaster, though it's pretty close sad.gif
I disagreed with Harry and Ginny's kiss - which was ..a laughing matter, honestly, Ginny was taller than him! - after that, wtf?! The Burrow burned down? dry.gif The Weasleys looking at it without doing anything?! Oh, yeah, that was more like them *insert sarcastic tone* And Snape was telling Harry not make any noise as he was preparing on murdering Dumbledore! mellow.gif And...why was Ron shadowed? I mean, Hermione's the one who's always beside Harry, encouraging and sustaining him, it all make it seem like Hermione was his best friend and Ron was...just to be there as a friend mellow.gif Or so it seemed to me mad.gif

And also, everything happened so quickly. A second ago, Dumbledore was getting Harry, a second later, Harry was embracing Ginny. Soon, he was again with Dumbledore talking about girls! Oh, and not to mention Bellatrix's sudden apparition rolleyes.gif Yeah...it was a disaster happy.gif (but I'll re-watch it to assure myself and I'll come again with an opinion biggrin.gif)

Ps: Sorry to those who did like the movie ^^"
Ermynee
Hi everyone , I'm new around here and I'm from Argentina

I have a question about the scene in which the trio leave the Three Broomsticks, and Ron says something like "did you hear her talk about me and her snogging?"
and someone replies "As if", who saysthis? Ron or Harry?, and what does he mean by that?

thanks a lot!
DeSs
Hey, Ermynee, you're from Argentina?? So I am! happy.gif

Yes, I remember that part, I honestly don't know, but it's got to be Ron, if it's a male voice. If not, I dare say it might have been Hermione herself! What he/she meant is, as they are so awkward towards each other, none of them feel the other might ever kiss him/her, and therefore it's more an expression like "You wish so...". Like, they're so stubborn that they half took it as a joke even when inside both wished so!
It was confusing, what I just wrote... ok.
It's sexual tension, which I adore wub.gif And turns into wild love.

EDIT: Ok, I'm watching HBP right now (yes, yes: pirate, but I'll buy the DVD when it comes out so don't bother me!) and right in that scene. It's Ron who says "As if" and he means "As if she'd ever like to", meaning that he thinks Hermione doesn't like him and therefore would never kiss him biggrin.gif As if...
