One of my favourite actors would have to be John Cleese.

He has acted in two of my favourite movies of all time Monty Python's The Holy Grail and The life of Brian (which IMHO is the best comedy ever made).

Faulty Towers was of course again an excellent (if not the best British Sit-com ever made, in competition with Father Ted and Blackadder) excellent, there’s not to many actors who could pull off the character of Basil faulty half as successfully as John Cleese, in fact I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing it. Plus he manages to replace the legendry Q in James bond, which is never easy.

But in saying that I don't agree with his casting in Harry Potter as Nearly Headless Nick. For me Nick was a very serious dignified character, who was the but of many peoples jokes but he never appeared to 'lose the rag’ through out the course of the books. John Cleese is known for his portrayal of more eccentric characters, the two (John Cleese as Nick) just never seemed to fit for me, Arthur Weasley, IMHO would be a much more suitable part for John Cleese to play. (Not to type Cast him or anything tongue.gif ) but in saying that I’m not the biggest fan of the Harry Potter Movies, so never mind.

Rowan Atkinson is another one of my all time favourite actors for no other reason than being able to play characters as varied as Mr. Bean and Blackadder and play both exceptionally well. Truly a brilliant actor.
MimolaChuck
Rowan Atkinson is a fabulous actor, and i doubt if no one has seen him in the memorable Mr. Bean films.

I cannot believe i forgot to mention her before, but Natalie Portman is such a great actress, she has such talent, and of course she is beautiful too, i love almost every movie she is in (except star wars, sorry, not a fan of that unsure.gif ), and i haven't seen garden state, but i was told that she did wonderful acting in that as well.
zyra123
Aaah... that's really interesting to read about, Shane!! At least it was more than just a list, hey? wink.gif

Rowan Atkinson has been very well known here in my country, Malaysia, as Mr. Bean. Unfortunately, we didn't get to watch his other character in Blackadder to compare. But I remembered when I was watching The Lion King with the rest of my family that I mentioned to them that Rowan contributed the voice of Zazu the Hornbill. Mr. Bean character did not ask for him to speak so much, so my family was a bit awed to finally able to listen to his voice... tongue.gif It was hilarious, actually (the reaction from my family, not Zazu the Hornbill... wink.gif).. tongue.gif

I think Monica Belluci is a brilliant actress. I saw her first in Malena. And the near ending of the story was not something many actresses may do well. It was the humiliation scene from the women of the town towards her. And the reasoning behind what she did what she did was utterly heart-breaking. I read somewhere (in the magazines or website) that she hoped for a harder role in her next movies not because of her beauty but because of her talent. But seeing her role as Persephone in the Matrix series, I thought she has a long way to go still.

EDIT:Oh, I just realized Kelpie edited her post! Thanks for agreeing with me here... wink.gif

And oh, how can I forget Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands! That was a really touching movie if anything. It was a big hit when it first shown here. And Winona Ryder was quickly become the sweetheart among teenagers (well, she did have a sweet face in that movie! wink.gif). And Pirates of teh Carribean brings out a totally different side of Johnny (IMHO) cause I rarely get to see him playing such role before. While entertaining he's absolutely hilarious!! biggrin.gif But I understand if he gets overshadowed by the likes of Orlando Bloom.... tongue.gif (among teenagers at least... oh, okay... I'm a bit staggered by him too... I admit... tongue.gif)

I thought Miranda Richardson could play Bella very well in OotP simply because of her brilliant act as Queen Mab in Merlin, only to realised she's already cast as Rita Skeeter... tongue.gif

I remember watching the film Leon and thinking that the young Natalie was a fantastic actress. She reminded me of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. That wonderful mixture of vulnerable and precocious. She outshone both Jean Reno and Gary Oldman. I was disappointed with her turn in Star Wars. But if all I hear is correct, then I really must watch Garden State.
LuciusIsaacs
I love lots of actors but very few (if any) actresses.

Jason Isaacs is my ultimate actor because he as a great acting style and also he is extremely good-looking. I love the way he portrays the meanest characters like Lucius Malfoy and Tavington, and yet he is such a loveable guy in real life.

I also love Joaquin Phoenix (even though I don't know how to pronounce it), Johnny Depp (but doesn't everyone?), John Travolta (another ultimate bad-guy), Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, David Thewlis (Oldman and Thewlis are very new in my eyes even thought they've been around years) and Alan Rickman.

My favourite actor has to be Julia Stiles (10 things I Hate About You), she's great and is just like me. She bears my attitude.

Ygraine
Ever since i was really young I've loved Harrison Ford, i just think he's fantastic! But for a while (since i was about 14) my favourite actor has been Alan Rickman, and i was over the moon when i found out he would be playing Snape, my favourite character, in my opinion there was no better choice.

Except for them, I don't really have favourite actors per se, just great respct for them. For example, Gary Oldman, Jason Issacs, David Thewlis, Timothy Spall...actually come to think about it, I love all the great brtish actors...many of them happen to be in the HP films. Especially the ones who play villians, i have a thing for bad guys with english accents.

In the PoA movie, when Snape and Sirius were having that squabble in the shack, i was hypervatilating (sp) my friend laughed at first, then had to calm me down, to have so many actors who i loved in the same scene! I think i died and went to heaven, i still can't breath properly when i see that scene.

I haven't voted for any of those, although Johnny Depp is one of my favourites.
My #1 favourite is Brad Dourif just because he's an absolutely awesome actor, and so very hot (methinks). Other favourites are Richard Roxburgh, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman (yeah, I know he's in HP - and not enough, in my opinion!), Christopher Lee and actors from years ago like Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Kenneth Williams (who was more of a comedian), Peter Cushing, Dwight Fry...

...and if I can mention actresses too, I'd have to say Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Tilly =)

Oh guys, guys... what did I say about *list*? No one would care a bit for your list. Not only it's boring to read, it waste lots of bandwidth space. Please...

This is a forums, make it more interesting by providing some opinions why you like them... I can make a list any time of the day too, you know... rolleyes.gif

When you make a post, you would want people to read and respond to it too right? Be reasonable and have some pity for this old mod 'ere... wink.gif

I admire Jane Asher because she is very talented. She can go from being in a sweet and inncoent role like her role as Annie in Alfie to a rather risque scene in The Deep End. I like the actors/actresses I listed because of their immense talent. They bring life into every role they do. They are very great people outside of showbiz. They do not have snobby attitudes. They are great to their fans a lot of the time.

And is this Jane Asher the same 'Jane' in your avatar? Just curious cause I don't really know her....

Be nice Z ...

Anywho - where was i - ah yes, absolutly love any films with John travolta! I know hes getting on in his years, but hes still an amazing actor. I do prefer him in the "evil / bad guy" rolls , such as in "Face/Off" and like he is in "basic" , but his other films are amazing! - best one of all time - Pulp Fiction! - if you havent seen it - what are you doing here?1 - Go watch it!!
Gryffindor Rock Chick
Pulp Fiction is a fab movie. I love Tarentino films.
zyra123
Sorry, I wasn't being sarcastic up there, was I? wink.gif When Gryffindor said, they were nice with their fans outside and they're nice people outside of showbiz I thought she had met them personally. *shrugs* Let's not get uptight about this small thing, shall we? It ruins the excitement.

So, have I mention Alicia Silverstone before? There's a new series here, 'Miss Match' that I keep in track. I thought it's enjoyable and it's a good comeback from her. I still remember her in 'Clueless' years ago. If she hadn't return, I think she's going to be remembered as the 'clueless' one... tongue.gif

My favourite actors are John Cleese and George Clooney.

John Cleese ... because of the Monty Python's movies and "fish named Wanda" and so on. He only needs to look in the camera and thats so funny although he says nothing. You know?
George Clooney is a fantastic actor! I've seen many movies with him. From the best movie I forgot the title of the movie (in the movie he was a prisoner on the run and later he made a big song ...)

I also like younger actors: of course Daniel.
And Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan) and Jimi Blue (wild soccer bunch) cool.gif
gryffin_hauz_88
My favorite actor is Johnny Depp because he's such a versatile actor. He could be on drama, comedy, action, horror/suspence/thriller... name it. He really acts very well.

My favorite actresses are Halle Berry, Catherine Zeta- Jones and Julia Roberts. They're so great and the emotions are there whenever they're acting.

Miseria
Yes to everyone who put Johhny Depp!! He is such a great actor and can adapt to any character. He did Raul Duke sooo well in Fear and Loathing is Las Vegas and he played JM Barrie in Finding Neverland very good too. The characters are so differnt but he portrays them so well.

I own every single movie that Johhny Depp ever starred in!!! Fan enough?
Vincent
My favorite is probably Mel Gibson. I think that he is talented at both Directing and acting, like he did in my favorite movie, Braveheart. I also liked Patriot, but sadly I never got to see Passion of the Chirst, although I have seen his others such as Conspiracy Theory and the Lethal Weapon Series.
Caitlin in Australia

ronozzy_82
Hey! These are some of my favorites-

*Rupert Grint- He is amazing- not only is he very hot, but he's also a great actor. I have heard a lot about the movie, Thunderpants- but I have no clue about it and even if he's in it. But anyway..

*Johnny Depp- has great talent, one of my favorite movies is Edward Scissorhands (even if it's not the best) and he's hot too. What more could a teenage girl ask for?? tongue.gif

And purely for being extremely hot- Orlando Bloom! Yes he is definitely hot, and I'm not sure how he acts because I'm too busy drooling at the screen, hee hee!

That's It!

~*Ozzi*~

I like

Kate Winslet - nothing to do with a crush or anything tongue.gif But she is so talented and is so comfortable with herself, it's refreshing.

Johnny Depp - first off, he's so handsome and I love his knack for taking quirky roles.
Dr.Knowitall
* Jack Nicholson: He is just simply amazing. He can act so real sometimes and yet so comical. Sometimes (the shining) he can act in such a way that is terrifying and hilarious at the same time. If you've seen the movie Chinatown, you will know what a deeply emotional actor Mr.Nicholson can be. An amazing actor. I also loved his work as the Joker in Batman.

*James Cagney: This guy was the first of the great tough guy actors. In every movie, he puts his heart and soul into his work. At a time when actors were told to speak articulately and slowly, Jimmy Cagney completely ignored this and the result was him sounding much more realistic then any other actor of the day. My favorite movies from him were The Roaring Twenties and Angels with Dirty Faces.

*Al Pacino: Amazing. He is a genius. Despite the fact that he played mostly gangester roles, he was able to convey as much personality in each of them as the next. He always had a new angle for a character, even though he dealt with pretty much similar types of characters. He also managed to make a cold hearted killer (Tony Montana from Scarface) into a sympathetic character. Carlito's Way, Godfather I and II, and Scarface are my favorites by him.

Humphrey Bogart: Another one of the early great tough guy actors, Bogie was such an amazing actor. His spot on performance of the cynical private eye, Sam Spade was simply amazing. In his role as villians, he always managed to portray a certain evilness to his character just by his body movement and the way he looked. Especially in the Petrified Forest, where he played Duke Mantee, the way his face looked and the way he walked showed himself to be a doomed man and it was just such an amazing performance. My favorite movies by him are the Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and the Petrified Forest.

Sean Connery~ even if he is like 60 that man is a hunk. i loved him in Bond, laughed hilariously when he was Indiana Jones's father, and thought he was brilliant in the Rock and Hunt for Red October

Livian Leigh~ best known as Scarlett O'Hara, the character i have modeled my life after. She plays that part with so much emotion, its awe inspiring to watch

Alan Rickman~ Robin Hood, Dogma, Love Actually, Harry Potter, not to mention all the theatricals he's been in. Fabulous...

Christopher Walkin~ quite possibly the best bad guy actor out there, plus his fat boy slim video was amazing

Viggo Mortison~ Gorgeous! Amazing in Lord of the Rings trilogy, hidalgo, a perfect murder. Not to mention he's so down to earth. The only creepy thing is my mother likes him too...

Liv Tyler~ showing girls everywhere that you an still be beautiful even if your a little bigger than supermodels and most actress's

Christian Bale~ little known (well until recently) i loved him in American Psycho, quite i freaky movie, not to mention...na na na na na na na na BATMAN! blink.gif
Verona
Peter Sarsgaard - Not many people will know who he is, but that's alright. Even though eh's not the best looking guy in the bunch, he always plays such interesting characters, I love his voice too *sounds stupid* cause it just sounds so ominous

Gwyneth Paltrow - From so many interviews and articles she seems like such a nice person, she's also a great actress (with an oscar to prove it) with lots of talent.

Viggo Mortensen - Such a down to earth guy, he's one of the realistic actors who doesn't live the high life of partying at clubs and getting drunk at fancy restraunts. He's a great guy and was amazing in Lotr, Hidalgo, and I can't wait to see him in a history of violence.

Cat Blanchett - I loved her in Veronica Guerin - her performance made me cry, and in the aviator she was amazing. She also has a great sense of style.

Johnny Depp - Come on, who doesn't like this man? I think every teenage girl I know does wink.gif He has such a variety of acting roles and is so amazingly handsome - it's enough to make me blush.

Seth Green - He's probably my favourite comedy actor. I loved him as Oz on Buffy, and he was awesome in Austin Powers and Without paddle, his movies can always make me laugh.
The-Fat-Lady
My favourite actors are:

Johnny Depp - He is really really versitile and could pretty much pull off any role and do it well! He was awesome in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. I also like Sleepy Hollow, Pirates of the Caribean, Edward Scissorhands and Chocolat. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tim Burton's, The Corpse Bride because Johnny Depp is doing one of the vioce overs.

Alan Rickman - I love Alan Rickman as Snape, he plays the character just right. He is also pretty versitile as his character in Love Actually is completely different to that of Snape. I also think he is great in Die Hard!

Jack Black - I probably only like him because at the moment I have an obsession with School of Rock (such a great film!), I love his expressions in it. He's really funny.
zee_fleur
Kate Winslet - she just a natural great actress.
Reese Withspoon - I'm really starting to like her! Her movies are great and she's very eye catching.

Although, i much perfer Alan Rickman that man is so hot!! I don't know what it is about him, he just is! Also, he's such a fanstastic actor, definately my favourite.

I don't know why but i also love Nicole Kidman, i think it's because shes so versitile.
