Not being part of the Harry Potter movies doesn't really mean your never going to become an Actor/Actress.
If you're just wanting to be an extra because you want to be "famous", then good luck to you - but don't level your hopes up.
Acting is a very hard technique to get into, even though some people just think of it as an easy way of life. Trust me - it's totally not.
I recently joined the Chester Gateway LIVE! Youth Theatre, and being part of this youth group has really taught me loads!
So, if you're not just wanting to be "famous", then I suggest a good local youth group would be the right answer.
If you want more details on wanting to Act - or something involved in that criteria - then please check out:

rosybob, my patience is really running thin here; you've been told many times to read the rules but you've obviously chosen to blatantly disregard our requests. Not only is that incredibly rude but also very disrespectful...to us mods and this site.
And speaking of rude, I really can't believe you had the audacity to just call another member "fool".

How would you like it if someone called you that eh?! You really want to watch your tone and wording of your posts.
I am raising your warning level because of this and please note that once it's been raised 3 times, you lose your posting privileges altogether. If you continue to break rules even after this formal warning, I'm going to take further action and that is to put you on mod preview. When this happens, your posts don't publish immediately but will have to go through mods' approval first.
Rules are set in place here and when you signed up to be a member here, you agreed to abide by them. It's as simple as that. If you don't like the rules, you can leave.
If you have any further questions, take it to PM. Otherwise, you'd best pull your head in and post within the rules. Consider this your FINAL warning.

Hi if I send a video of me to leavesden what should I do?

I've sent a couple of letters to them and some people say it works sending a video too. So I was wondering what should I do on the video?
(sorry if I used netspeak. I'm not good at writing properly)

any way, to what i came on here to say... i went to a dry slope ski race today and i slept all the way there but on the way back i was looking at the map, and i was thinking, hey were near hertfordshire then like five minutes later there was a road sign for watford, i was like OH MY GOD im about half a mile from were they filmed the movies ahhhh its was so cool, i know its not really big news but hey it made my day (i was a tad upset because my ski team got knocked out in the first round *weep*)

is it true that they want a girl that is good at horse riding for the part of luna lovegood in the ootp?
rosybob
Oct 2 2005, 09:28 AM
There has been some rumors going round that the girl does have to be able to ride a horse, because of the thestrals at the end, but they havent been confirmed, warner bros will probably teach all the kids how to ride, but they probably wont need to because its most likely that it will be computer generated or whathave you, they may need to ride simulators to get the action but you know we will have to wait and see

oh yeh (am i aloud to use yeh instead of yes? if not sorry

) about that video thing, if you want to send a video, introduce yourself and say a little bit about yourself, and then do a monologue or something, or a bit of imbrovisation like rupert did, what ever you do dont make it look forced, try to act natural and not as if your some crazy fan who wants to live the life of their favourite chracter.

the reason for the all british cast rule is because up until very recently all blockbusters (well MOST) were american. directors were casting americans in british roles (look at the first Charlie and the chocolate factory film! charlie was american!!!! can you imagine the swear words Roald Dahl would have been shouting when he heard that?!) Joanne made the decision and i think its great! since the Harry Potter films have shown that a mainstream blockbuster can still be successful without american accents the britsh film industry has been booming! anyway, there are more films made in america than england, you all have more opertunities then we do! hope this explains it a bit, katherine.x (who cant be an extra as a student because im over 18! ) |
I totally agree with this - you have hit the nail right on the head. It's about time we Brits had something to be proud.

Hello, I just have a quick question, maybe someone here can answer it. Would they have a problem if you're British but live in the States? That's my situation and I was wondering if there is any hope in sending a letter or if I should just resign myself to being a fan. Thanks!

Oct 25 2005, 11:55 AM
you may aswell try, it only says you have to be british (i think) i dont think it says you have to live in britain but i may be wrong, o well cant hurt to try int it

Hey Michelle, although I'm obviously not one of the casting people, I personally, I don't think they would allow it as they certianly wouldn't pay for the flights or accomadation unless you managed to get a major role. Also, you would have to fly and stay just for the audition, and again, they wouldn't refund it. It seems a lot of money to pay for a part it's unlikley you would get.
Also, if you've developed just a hint of an American accent, they wouldn't want that in the film. I think they are literally looking for british cast members who currently live in the UK.
cheeky_Luna_wannabe
Oct 30 2005, 09:53 PM
They probably won't let anyone get a part in any of the films if they don't live in england unless they are perfect for one of the major roles. I'm sorry. Also if they do let you audition but you don't get through it will be a lot of time and money wasted.Sorry

I dont think you have to be "good looking" to get a part or be an extra. Its more about the talent isnt it??? YOu could be really good looking and be a hopless actor!

Its worth a try no matter how you look like, atleast you know that you have tried and thats all that matters. There will always be other oppotunities to auditions for films.

Though personally I would LOVE to work a long side Alan Rickman. Not only is he FIT for a 59year old but he is a BRILLIANT actor too. It would also be good to have fun with the trio off set

but its the actiong that is the main priority not meeting the gorgous stars! lol. I realised I could have auditioned for Angelina Johnson. I fit the physical description but maybe im a bit too short and young for it. :S Im still going to try for a part as an extra. Im not looking to be the next Hallie Berry or anything but I love to act and it is my faviourtie hobby. Good luck to everyone who is writting in and auditioning.

I would try out if I lived in London. I played an extra and a movie here in the states and I really enjoyed it! I hope they get more extras for Ootp though because I thought the common room looked empty at some parts. I would do it for free. Just being in Dan's prensence would be good enough

i actually wouldn't mind playing tonks, i think it would be a good role, and really close to me as well, was tallking to my mother the other day and she just randomly said "you would make a good Tonks" yer i gave her a funny look, but its really stuck, i really want to do her part, not because its a way to become famous because fame isnt everything, but just to play the part is good enough for me, acting isn't obout the fame the fortune, its about well you being your self or taking on a different character, making it good!

Ok- what if you want to be an extra, but you're not British? Extras don't say anything right?(well-most of them) If you just stand there and don't say anything, then who's gonna know if your British or not?

I'm auditioning for the role of Luna Lovegood. I think I will get it, too, by the looks of things. I live in Hertfordshire, I'm british, I have waist long dirty blonde hair, and grey eyes. I have a ton of acting experience. I am quite confident I will get the role.

thats brilliant, i hope you get it, and not someone well off from teh description in the book, i was wanting my youngest sister to go for it but as she is living in france (our dad and her mum moved out there a few years back, ) i didnt think she would be in with much of a chance
let us know how you get on, i guess you are one of the short listed 4 or 5 which in its self is really good, go you

I have sent a letter for a part of an extra as i think to be involved in a film of this magnatude would be one hell of an experience, id love to be Bellatrix so then i can scare my kids lol better than thretening them with Father Christmas hey lol tho I know thats never going to happen as im about 10 years too young and have no acting experience unless you count drama class 14 years ago
Good luck *keeps fingers crossed for you*

Wow!! You guys are sooo lucky. Man, I wish it was being filmed where I live. Then I could audition. But since I live halfway accross the world, I don't think that will happen anytime soo. It would be so much fun to be in a movie. Not to be famous or anything, but because of the experience. I have always set my standars high, so maybe one day, will be my lucky day...
Good luck in your audition! Hope you do well!

Luna must live in UK
The part of Luna Lovegood is only open to girls who live in the UK, so the production team won't look at anyone from outside Britain, no matter how good your accent is! |
(thats from
http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4...00/4291146.stm)it's so sad how they have the all British cast rule

it depresses me.. I mean, there are alot of great American actors! I dont think it's fair to say that 'most blockbusters are American so they have more chances than the people that live in Britain'
ohhhh well....
and I was wondering if anybody knew anything about the part of young Lily Evans cos that's like my favorite part of the book <3 are they including that part in the movie? I hope so
