im british and really want to be in the OotP but i dont know how to audition. please help me. sad.gif
avrilluver
sorry, they arent doing open audtions for OotP. not evan for extras.
Tom`Riddle
Auditions for any part in OotP begins in January 2006, but the best way to apply would be to write a letter to Levesdan Studios explaining why you think you should be in the movie. The worst they can say is no.

Dont forget you cant apply till late January, and dont just write

"please please please i love harry potter i wanna be in the movie"

Write a sensible letter explaining how much you love acting, want to be an actor, admire the other actors blah blah blah
Darren
  • Know someone who works in the casting department for the films
  • Join an acting school
  • Make letters and send them to appropiate people
  • Have lots and lots of luck

Are Leavesden Studios the offical Casting people? If so, then I am writing to them this second...hehe...with a senseible letter of course, and I'm not going to go on about how I love Harry Potter and NEED to be in the film...hehehe
I just found this site http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4...800/4318825.stm
(CBBC Newround - so it is trustable source) that says they are not doing open casting. Boo Hoo. But still shall make letter, just incase! lol laugh.gif

MOD EDIT : Please read the rules. Replacing swear/cuss/vulgar words with symbols is not allowed on these boards. Your post has been edited.

^ Same with me. I read on newsround site that they arn't doing open castings, so I sent of a letter today. (I just keep sending sensible letters. wink.gif )
georgie porgie
Ooo. Good idea. Shall steal it from you tongue.gif lol. Sorry for the swearing, but it shows how passionate I am about being in the movie! hehe....laugh.gif

Hello and welcome to the forums!! smile.gif

I'd advise you hop on over to our forums rules here so you'll get a hang of how things work around here.

I would say figure out what part(s) you think you can play or would like to play and practice them. Then set up a website (A free one works well) advertising yourself as an actor. Have lots of pictures, in costumes if you wish, and if you can get a video that would be better. Then start advertising your site everywhere, like on forums...you never know who's watching wink.gif

And by advertising yourself you never know, you might be the right look for a character or just the type of person they were looking for.

I've actually sent in a letter and a headshot last December. They were apparently satisfied enough to call me up, and I am flying out to audition for Luna Lovegood.

I have until then to grow out my hair. *cries* However, I'm willing to do it for the role.

Wish me luck, chums!
Rtdukefan04
Does anyone know the adress of the Leavesden Studios because i want to write there
ashleigh07

how how would i put that on a envolpe to send it to then
bubblegumgir16
hi so if you send a letter to that address and say that you want to audition for a part in the 5th movie do you have to send a headhsot or can you just write about your acting experience etc cos im not sure

MOD EDIT: Hi there, could you refrain from netspeak, please? It doesn't take that much time to type 'you' instead of 'u', you know... wink.gif It's been edited anyway.
Ghost
I would love to audition, even for an extra, but unfortunetly I'm American and can't because of their all British cast rule. Which is why I'm hoping that JK writes in an American exchange studint or somthing. lol laugh.gif
krumpy
where does it say that they're not accepting extras for the 6th harry potter?

the one on bbc is talking about open auditions for roles, not extras

the casting office allowed open casting for extras for gof, are they doing the same for ootp?
Sirius Black Chocolate
Unfortunately Ghost, Rowling's said she's not going to be adding any more foreign characters. This has become slightly confusing. One minute people are saying they've got open casting in a few months or around the end of the year for OOTP for people to lay Luna, Tonks, etc and the next minute they say there isn't any at all. Could someone please tell me what Leavesden studios have to say on the matter. If not I'll write to them and ask.
Loony Luna Lovegood
Well as far as im concerned they are going to audition, and its worth writin a letter anyway if you wanna try for a part, because thier not just gonna see you on the streets and walk up to you, and say
"Will you be such-n-such in the OotP"
You have to fight to get what you want, like im currently awaiting a reply from Leavesden about my portfolio that i sent the other day.
Obviously i dont expect a reply for a while but its worth a go.

Hi Sorry there was a tiny bit of net speak (c ) in your post which is not allowed here as it makes posts a bit more difficult to read. Your post has been edited.

Well, yah. I wanna be in the next movie, you know....OotP, but i totally don't know how to start. I mean, i don't want to get ia major role or anything. No. I just wanna be an extra or something, you know, see how it's all done. I think it'd be a good experience aswell actually.

I've been looking all over the internet, i found out that they even might not cast Luna in the next film! I mean....not cast Luna? That's just crazy.

Yah. But anyway, is there anyone out there like me who would just like to see how it's all done? I hope so because then we might be able to help eachother.

If you know anything then please reply to this post.

My friends going to crucify me for doing that. She's dancing fairy. wink.gif

Hy there... I'm new to this site and I am real glad I found out about it. Not only that I found all the information i needed as a Harry Potter fan but I was also put face to face with the possibility of acting. I mean, I am planning to audition for some movies in my own country, but I never taught of playing in the Harry Potter movies. To me, this seems quite difficult, as I live so far. But thank you for the idea of sending a letter. I think I will give it a try.
dracoluver6
OMG i can't believe they have this british cast rule. i didn't even know. wow. i wonder why americans or not british people can't audition. that sucks. i wanted to audition. if somebody Knows why they have this rule. can you tell me. thanKs!

MOD EDIT: Netspeak is not permitted on the forums, please read the rules again before posting, we have a multicultural fan base and some of those would have much difficulty understanding netspeak.
hello
hi everyone!
I think they have a british cast rule because maybe they want everyone to have that english accent and i thought schools were supposed to be multi-cultural!
Caitlin in Australia
Hi
Well I'm Australian but if my parents give my permission to send a letter to England to the Studio then I will. Even if they only let me be an extra, oh well. biggrin.gif Maybe they will let me be someone in the D.A. tongue.gif The oportunities are endless... ha...ha... Sorry! If I was in the D.A. I would meet Daniel Radcliffe and I would be so happy. That's an idea if you want to meet someone in the cast. unsure.gif biggrin.gif

I really hope my parents will let me because we would have to fly to London from Sydney. A long flight.
bendaman
Guys and girls, I've just finished filming the 4th movie in England
The only real way you can become a extra is to
1. Be British
2. Join a well known acting school or club
3. When the audition comes round go for it
4. Get lucky
5. Then no matter what happens film on evey day they tell you or they kick you out.

The rules:
1. be in secondary school and don't be over 18 years old.
2. Live near the M25 (motorway that goes round London)
3. Don't tell anyone about the movie

omg, this is so unfair! they only want british people to be extras? i'd be out of luck anyway because i live in long island, new york. my parents think i act really good, sad.gif but they can't afford this kind of money to send me to england to audition. i really want to do this and i just want to meet tom felton aka draco malfoy! laugh.gif i'm so angry mad.gif !
acdcrocks
i heard that there are no more openings...but in the future make sur eyou have an agent to give you a heads up on what's going on with the 6th movie and such.
sunshadow
the reason for the all british cast rule is because up until very recently all blockbusters (well MOST) were american. directors were casting americans in british roles (look at the first Charlie and the chocolate factory film! charlie was american!!!! can you imagine the swear words Roald Dahl would have been shouting when he heard that?!) Joanne made the decision and i think its great! since the Harry Potter films have shown that a mainstream blockbuster can still be successful without american accents the britsh film industry has been booming! anyway, there are more films made in america than england, you all have more opertunities then we do!
hope this explains it a bit,
katherine.x (who cant be an extra as a student because im over 18! biggrin.gif )
Tonksified
On that British-people-as-extras thing, well, it was on the news a long time ago (I live in the Philippines, by the way) that this Filipina girl was an extra, as a member of the choir (something like that) in the first Harry Potter movie. They even showed clips... so what's up with that? Maybe I should try my luck in getting an extra part! =)

Concerning the adress to which we can try to send audition-related letters...

Is that casting office they started for PoA (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv_film/...000/2285265.stm) still up and going? I know those news were quite old...

Just want to make sure the correct place to send it is

Leavesden Studios
PO Box 3000
Hertfordshire
WD2 7LT
United Kingdom

No offense, ashleigh07... wink.gif

By the way, I am not a native British (Norwegian, if you must know. tongue.gif ). But nevertheless I am still going to try... Haven't anything to lose, have I? smile.gif
ashleigh07
Oh dearie me, it seems there has been a wee bit of confusion with this whole audition process eh?! I've just realized that there are actually TWO different addresses available on the main site...eep sleep.gif

Well I've just spoken Matthew, the big man himself, and this is what he says:

Don't send in any applications YET.

Casting has not begun for OotP. They're still in post-production for GoF at the present time. So until an official announcement regarding auditioning has been made, hold on to those letters of yours aight?!

Any further questions, feel free to PM me.
rosybob
when the 'anouncement' is made, where will we be able to find it? because im not to good with all this 'remembering' stuff blink.gif could you keep us posted please thank you
ashleigh07
When auditions start, every HP fansite will make it known, don't you worry about it. wink.gif So just wait patiently...and keep checking the main site!! smile.gif

I'd love to be an extra! Luckily, I'm british, in secondary school, am under 18 and live right near the m25. Not sure about the acting thing though... I aced my drama exam... If auditions start, I'm there! If my parents let me, of course dry.gif
Exept, I dont want to join an agency or anything, because I dont wanna be a professional actress or anything, just an extra! Do you have to be signed up with an agency, or can you just send a letter when the time comes?
rosybob
i sent in letters, i am ashamed, sorry. but i found out i sent them to the wrong address I AM A FOOOL! i just wrung up leavesden woo and asked about the casting, and they said that it wont be starting for another 3 or 4 months and now im like *turd* mad.gif for the last 3 weeks ive been clinging onto the hope that i may, one day, be famous for doing something i love, and now i have to wait for months and all the letters i have sent have been to the wrong place! wwhhhhyyyyyyyy? [MOD EDITED]but i had trouble understanding what the man said because, even though i only live bout 50 miles away, the locals accents are peculiar (no offence to anyone coming from hertfordshire). geting an audition has been all i can think about for ages, and my letters have kept me sane, knowing that soon i might have a chance to escape the looming monster of school bullies and homework. but now all is lost. im sad sad.gif . *cry* o well ill just have to send letters to the right address when the time comes and maybe that litle beam of light which is my hope, thathas so recently gone out, will be bright once more! you just wait! youl see me up there on the big screen acting my litle socks off blink.gif for now i will hold my head up high and just get on with my half life untill he wonderful day comes that my dream will come true.
thank you biggrin.gif
sphinx
well i live in australia and in november daniel radcliffe will be in the same area i live so i'm gonna ask him (if i can get close enough) and next year i might be going to the UK as an exchange student so who knows?
rosybob
who knows indeedy, but i think your best bet would be to send a letter to
casting office
op box 322
leavesden studios
hertfordshire
wd25 7xj biggrin.gif
rosybob
ive just been on dissendium.com and a girl said she was gettin and audition for luna sometime in january! she doesnt yet know the precise date because the dates arent meant to go public. but atleast we know that there not cutting luna now.
Louise
I'd take that with a pinch of salt, if I were you. Just because people said it, doesn't mean that it's so. I don't think they're even thinking about it until January. WB will make a press release when they're ready.

And I've edited your previous post. You really shouldn't be posting phone numbers on here.
rosybob
sorry unsure.gif wasnt really thinking! i am still moderatly new so please dont get annoyed at me just point me in the right direction and ill go from there woooo laugh.gif
Hazyspell
Yay i have finally sent my application to Leavesden studios for the part of Luna! Now i have to play the waiting game for a reply.
rosybob
SEND MORE THAN ONE! seriously, rupert sent one letter to leavesden adn they ignored it, imagine what a disaster the films would have been without rupert! send lots and your bound to get noticed by someone! biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif
cheeky_Luna_wannabe
Hi does sending a letter and some photographs of yourself to Leavesden studios really work? i really want to be LUna i've written my letter i just want to know if it will be worth sending or not. also the adress i know is in watford not hearfordshire :S
rosybob
hertfordshire is the county fool! its like watford is the town (although the studios themselves are big anough t be a town) and hertfordshire s the county, if you click on the movies link at the top and movie 4 and go down to the bottom it says how to audition, it says the right address! who knows if a letter really works, but if you want to be luna so badly you should send letters, but upert sent a letter and didnt get a reply so he sent in a tape of himself dancing in a dress *druel* and he got an audition, so maybe it would be a better idea to get a tape, if you dont have a camera borrow one, if not you can get them off ebay for bout £30 and there quite good so just ask yourself... is gettting an audition worth it? if yes then trust your instincts! rolleyes.gif i just love that little thing its so.... luna! god i love that girl, she is just the best. some boring people think that everyone wants to be luna because shes the only new female character, i dont want to be her because of that i want to be her because she totally rocks and being part of the film would just be amazing, and who kbnows what it might start, i mean, alot of the stars of the movies didnt even have agents before they started and now there doing loads of films and earning a whole heep of cash *kerching* i just really hope i get an audition though woo, im not a religous girl, but lately ive been praying (or raather pleeding) for an audition, i dont know who or what im talking to (if anything) but it just makes me feel happy and as if i am going to get an audition woo but thats off the subject. ive always wanted to be an actress and ive always loved harry potter, and when luna came in it was just so cool, there arent any words to decirbe it, but i just feel like im destind to play her, but what you must remeber is that sheis just a fictional chracter, and if anyone on here gets an audition (me...) just remeber there not going to ask you back if they think your some die hard fan who want to live out your fantasies. just act cool, be polite but not to polite, shake hands and keep eye contact, mainly with the person in charge but spare some time for everyoine else aswell, and if theres soem kids there from agencies, just think to yourselves: there only here because there parents can afford it, you are there because you believe that you can put some heart asnd sole into the chracter and make the film come allive! wow ive been typiong for ages, pain in the hand! good bye for now, but i will be back! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif
cheeky_Luna_wannabe
hi i thought watford was in heartfordshire but i wasn't sure. thank you for all your help. i agree with everthing you said and thank you for the confidence. biggrin.gif
rosybob
yay thanks darling! oh my golly gosh! go onthis link! http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4...100/4291146.stm omgomgomg so excited, its for luna auditions!
pigwidigon
rosybob...PLEASE read the rules..there is no netspeak allowed...you have been around here long enough to know that...and too please go easy on people..some people dont know where places are and what you said to cheeky_Luna_wannabe could have made her feel bad ...I mean I would have never known that was a country because I live in Canada wink.gif and I am not fermiliar with places like that...I know you are excited but I dont want people to feel bad about themsleves either...thats not what VTM is about smile.gif if you have any questions feel free to PM me or one of the other prefects or mods and we will be happy to help you
