I already see the movie, and I think it was very cool!!! specially the part when Harry is riding Buckbeak, very good!!, and the dementors, were good, and also the things that they put extra, when Harry is crying and when he sees Peter Pettigrew on the map, i think it was Very well done!!!But what i dont like was that they didnt explain who the Marauders were, and that there was only one quidditch game, and the end, they should put the broom before but, its ok!!!
I am very glad with the movie!!,

I saw it yesterday. I thought it was good. It took me a while to et used to Lupins moustache but I reckon he looks good with it, well that could be because I saw him with 3 day growth on Rove Live and GMA. I thought Sit=rius was to gay to be just out of Azkaban if you know what I mean. I felt like that part in the Shack was too dancy. I also thought that Malfoys', sookiness was uncalled for, Uncle Vernons' dislike of Harry didn't show much, and Snape should have been in there more. But on the whole it was a fabulous movie, though I'm glad Cauron (spelling?) isn't doing the next one. I truly loved it. And what was with Fed and Georges hair? When I saw it I was singing, "Hey hey we're the monkeys" cause they looked like they were straight off the set of a Monkeys movie or something. And where was Goyle? I saw Crabbe and some other dude but no Goyle. Anyway out of ten I'd give it an eight.
aleja23
how can you said that of Fred and George hair, i really like it!!, i think they look better than in the others, they look older, the same with Ron that his air was a little long, he look nice!!
And the moustache was rare, but looks good!!

I think the film is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.I was really fascinated by the actors' play, movie magic is the best I've pictured and I hope that Alfonso will make the fifth adaptation(I don't believe that Mike Newell can make The Goblit Of Fire-movie better than The Prisoner). PS:How could the film make less money than the darned Spider-man 1?

I did indeed go to see the movie>> it was ok overall but I was a little disappointed with parts of it. It seemed to me that the primary focus this time around was the plot- almost too much so...I think this took away from the depth that makes Harry Potter so fascinating. In fact- it really didnt seem like they were "at school" much throughout the movie. There were few "classes" or in-school sequences. I think the only mention of homework was Snape's werewolf essay.... what happened to all the school-related stress...Hermione's especially- with her tremendous workload? Also- I really missed the Quidditch part of the book-- with Wood and winning after 8yrs. and such. In other words..I guess what I found most off-putting were the minor plot changes that, in my opinion, really weren't all that necessary. (For example using a spell to stop the whomping willow vs. crookshanks... Harry and Hermione not using the invisibility cloak to follow Ron at the end... etc. etc. Certainly the changes weren't all that damaging to the story on a whole... but I would have prefered a more strict translation. It also seemed that in using soo much new scenery (and not very much of the old) that it wasnt really at Hogwarts.. two more complaints and Im done (I promise) The shrunken head on the knight bus... what's that all about? added nothing- took away a lot in my opinion. And: the ghost horsemen galloping around the hall.... ok the first time..I applaud the diversity doing it again later...not so much. (why not the house ghosts or something?) Anyhow>> I know Im being incredibly critical... but I guess I would be interested in knowing a bit more on why certain things were done they way thery were. The music was great... acting was good.. I like the looser approach to uniforms more than I thought I might... the ending credits were cleverly done (although I thought that the still of Harry going into them looked like he was being sucked by the dementors again)- The scene with Harry and the Patronus at the end was really nifty smile.gif --Of course its worth seeing...and yes I'll still probably buy it on DVD when it comes out..lets just say that it hasnt replaced either of the other two as my favorite thus far (which is a pity since Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the books...)
just me
Yeah! I think the film was great! BUT everything went so fast I think! Some of the scenes he added which wasn't in the book was very cool....but if I could chose I would rather have other scenes from the book instead! Like who were the Marauders, when Sirius is in the gryffindor common room, quidditch matches and other things like that!

In the shrieking shack I think that he should've had a longer scene where Sirius and Lupin explained more about James and the map etc..because I think I wouldn't cast a spell on Snape after that little explanation... AND....they didn't say that james was prongs...so people who hasn't read the book don't know why a stag came when harry yelled Expecto Patronum... :?

But anyway...the more I think about the film..the more I like it! And I really loved Proffesor Trelawney! lol... laugh.gif

Well, well...this is my opinion!

I saw it......it was pretty good. Emma didn't bother me as much in this movie as she did in the others....but that punch is still bothering me. It would have been WAAAAAAAAAY better if it was a slap. I liked the part when Harry was riding Buckbeak and then he went "Whooo!" and all that. Because you just kind of feel/see him letting go of all the anguish and everything.

AND MATTHEW LEWIS IS SOOOO ADORABLE!! (He's so skinny now!)

And they already had a Parvati......grrr......*attacks her* Tee hee, just kidding.

From your point of view, what did you think of the characters? I have read several reviews where Cauron made the characters all teenage emotional.

And Harry cries. What's up with that? He's never cried.

Forgetting about details, I can put up with details being missing and plots changed. Just what were the characters like? Was it really Harry, Ron, and Hermione? Or Daniel, Rupert, and Emma?

Also what were the other charcters like? Was Lupin right, and was Sirius scary enough?

I have a lot of questions, and I'd appreciate it if some real Potter fans could answer them! I'm going to see it in early July.

Thanks!

Oooh....you like answers! Hokai....umm, yeah they were all kind of teenage emotional moodswingish. I dunno....the characters weren't exactly OOC, but it was kind of made out like that in the film. The other characters were a bit quirky....Madam Rosmerta, Fudge, McGonagoll, yeah. They were alright. Trelawney was just WEIRD. She was weirder than I had imagined her to be.....Lupin was a Lupin in acting, but he didn't really look like a Lupin. Sirius was TOTALLY not scary enough in my opinion.....he needs to be greasier...tee hee.

(Err.....I dunno if I qualify as a real Potter fan...)

Hmm...okay, thanks, then!

The movie is bloody brilliant I loved it way better then both the other HP films put together

I saw it 2 weeks ago, and i found it really good... Though it wasn't perfect ! I really missed the Quidditch part and also The Marauders ! For those who haven't read the book, I think it's a little bit hard to understand everything ! My points are :
1.We don't know who created the Marauder's Map and, how does Lupin know how to use it ? Suddenly, he knows what these piece of parchment is and he knows the passwords to use it ! And there is no explanations ! We don't know that HE IS Moony and that Sirius is Padfoot ! And also that James was Prongs !
2. The part in the Shrieking is very incomplete ! We don't know that in fact, it has never been haunted by evil ghosts ! But that it has been built FOR Lupin ! Well, all the part in the
3. We don't know WHO sent the Firebolt to Harry (sirius)
Anyway, it would be too long to tell everything ! But, it was good, tough ! (lol)
Thanks for reading me ! hehe

What about Harry crying? That was never in the books...
SpellBound4Dan
I've seen it 5 times already and my mum is going to take my sisters and I to the Imax down in Charleston tomorrow to see it again! Due to the fact that I've seen POA so many times, the ticket person at the front desk and I are on a first name basis. Tee hee hee laugh.gif They even gave me the movie poster!!!!! biggrin.gif

i think that it was weird that he was crying too. kind of fake. but other than that i loved it. i saw it seven times!!!
SpellBound4Dan
I would be crying too if I just found out that my godfather is supposed to be a convicted murderer who used my parent's lives to save his own. And then find out that he was their BEST friend. YEAH, I would cry my eyes out!
Naz
well i'd cry too....but was harry crying in the book?
pots13
I liked it better than the other two movies put together as well. When Harry gets the firebolt, there is one of buckbeak's feathers that came with it which I think is supposed to represent that Sirius sent it. The movie was much more streamlined which I really liked along with the music. The only bad thing was no quidditch cup, no maurauders, etc.
SpellBound4Dan
No, it wasn't in the book, but a lot of things from the movie weren't in the book. I think it really just added to the whole situation. He's not just "The Boy Who Lived". He's still a kid; emotions don't bounce off of Harry like he's some sort of shield and I think that seeing him cry in the movie really lets you know that. I hope I got my point across.
Naz
^yeh that makes a lot of sense.

My first posting here... biggrin.gif

Watched the movie 8 times already and was still as enjoyable as the first. Though you may find some of the scenes missing from the movie, it still gave a Harry Potter fan great satisfaction on the overall...

The new director is great and had artistically created such a wonderous movie. John Williams' scores in the third installment also deserved much credit too - sounded so much better than in the first 2. And the cast are fabulous...it's so fun to see how the characters are portrayed to life from the book.

Great director, great music, great actors...already I can't wait for the DVD to be released...

P.S. I was disappointed when the movie dropped to number 3 on the US boxoffice... sad.gif where are the fans?
Naz
i love the movie too. i love the new music styles they added. but i think that alfonso needed to have a little more knowlage about the harry potter series. or atleast the book
peaceoflorien
I still think the introductiona nd conclusion were done poorly, but it was a great movie
Naz
i didnt like when they blurred harry's face when he was on the firebolt
peaceoflorien
yeah, you gotta admit, it was kind of lame. They really should have taken 5 minutes and explained more about the marauders, and how harrys dad could turn into a stag. It would have been much more powerful
Patronus
Eight times? Heh, you must have a heck of a lot more money than I do. I could barely afford to see it twice.
peaceoflorien
yeah i've only seen it twice too
dan_and_rupert002
I have seen the movie on the VCD , the graphic was really really... bad! Everything sooooo dark! And i cant hear anything because the sound reallyy.... bad tooo!
Naz
well when i went to see it my first time i got stuch sitting next to some old guy that was snoring throughout the whole movie

Spot-on, mate!! Couldn't have put it better myself!!

I thought Cuaron developed Harry, Ron and Hermione's characters really well. I've mentioned before that POA is really the turning point book of the series, because it's not so much about Voldemort, but more about Harry growing up. I felt that the script definitely flowed better in POA, I think Dan, Rupert and Emma have finally settled into their characters, and Steve Kloves has also become better in scripting them.

All my thoughts on POA are actually on the other forum topic "Was it good or bad?". Decided to drop by this topic, and looks like there are some interesting stuff being discussed here which is great coz I've heaps to say about POA!! smile.gif

I've watched POA so many times now that I can practically quote the lines.

I loved it. I thought it was brilliant. Best out of the 3.

Nemesis, totally agree with everything you said!!

The only thing I felt should have been included in the movie was some information/background of the Marauders. This would have especially helped those who had not read the book. Plus, I would have liked to have seen a Stag Patronus charge down all those dementors!!

But other than that, I loved every single bit of POA. Awesome movie. Hats off to Cuaron for a fantastic job done!! POA was probably the toughest out of the first 3 books to the bring to the big screen...Cuaron definitely rose up to the challenge and I felt he couldn't have done it any better.

Remember, books and movies are two totally different things. I've said this heaps of times and I'm gonna say it again - the movies are BASED on the books and were never meant to be an exact visual representation of the book.

(For those of you who have been following my posts in the other topic, sorry for having to read the same stuff here!!)

yeh, it isnt supposed to be exactly the same, but they did a great job representing the book!! biggrin.gif

i like the part when ron said "sorry it's opened they made me do it" pointing at fred and george and they both said "We did not!"

Opinions and views of PoA the movie should now all be forwarded to the "Was it good or bad?" thread which has been pinned to this section.
