I think Jo may not have given Ginny such an important role in books 3 and 4 because she made out that Ron still saw Ginny too much as a little girl. While that happened, she couldn't be around with the trio more because Ron was overprotective with her. But in the summer before fifth year Hermione got to spend more time with Ginny and get closer because Ginny was the only girl in the house, and Ginny had no other friends to be with than her brothers and Hermione. I think that as Ginny and Hemrione grew closer, Ginny made herself a place in their group, therefore giving Harry the opportunity to know her better and start seeing all her good qualities.
muggleview
Hallia,
It's a fine explanation. I completely agree with that.
Well, we are coming to the final countdown of HBP. Let's enjoy the development of Harry and Ginny. I am sure we will see it and hope our guess is right.

To all of you, it's been a pleasure to share the thoughts. HBP may give us more solid evidence to the H/G relationship we support passionately.
Until then, I will stay out for a while. See you.

Cheers,
Muggy

I have to admit, I'm a Harry/Ginny as well as a Draco/Ginny, and prefer Draco/Ginny, but I still like Harry/Ginny. I think its so cute, especially when Ron yells at Harry because he's so protective of Ginny. I usually see Harry/Ginny as a sidedish of major Ron/Hermione, so I guess its no wonder from reading mainly Draco/Ginny and Ron/Hermione that Harry/Ginny is not my favorite pairing. But I do think it has a very likely chance of being real, seeing that Ginnys childhood infatuation might've become a fully blossomed love. Ginny might've given up on Harry, but it doesnt mean she's completely over him yet.
Hallia
Just what we were saying, hplovah. I agree with all said by muggy(as I almost always do laugh.gif ).
Happy reading and HBP-filled weekend to all H/G fans and all those who are not. I hope this new read prooves us right on our tracks. Happy, happy weekend to you all! Nice reading, Muggy wink.gif

adding to the freckles being a weasley trait, as muggleview described above, ginny is never described badly. hermione is described as having bushy hair and rather large front teeth. ginny is described as having "sparkling brown eyes" while hermiones eyes are only halfheartedly mentioned when they fade back to brown after turning into a cat. Annoying personality traits (such as parvati's smugness in prof. trelawny's classroom) are also never mentioned. luna lovegood isnt described very tastefully from harry's point of view either. harry thinks she doesnt blink as much as a normal human, has stringy hair, and bulging eyes. im thinking harry and luna will only be friends due to their connection at the end of the order of the phoenix. Also... a new topic (forgive me if it isnt new, ive read only a couple pages of the discussion) i think that's ginny on the back cover. could that show she is a more significant character in half blood prince? she hasnt graced a cover since the chamber of secrets? what do you guys think of her cover appearance?
TheSpecialist
nice job guys Ginny and Harry do get together but they break up well harry did the breaking up but they still might get to together again so cheer up kiddos happy.gif

i was never a harry and ginny shipper but a harry and hermione shipper
so i say congrats to you guys but there still hope for H/HR shippers lol biggrin.gif
kool kat
Wow, it seems you guys have done it! I'm not a Harry/anyone shipper, but I like this ship. I hope they get back together! Congradulations! smile.gif
Amyrat151
I was a Harry/Ginny hopeful. I wouldn't call it shipping, I didn't want to get my hopes up to high. Worring about the trio pairs took most of my focus. To be honest it always seemed like a wonderful dream unlikely to come true, so unbelievely glad now that it has. As to Harry breaking up with Ginny, I'm not at all worried. I've seen this story line more times than I'd like to count. They almost always get back together.
luna moon
knew ittttt! see previous post! and i agree with amyrat, they will get back together. i think it was really smart of harry to break up with her since it really would have put her in a lot of danger what with greyback running around! i cant wait until harry (hopefully and probably) kills voldemort and gets to settle down happily ever after with ginny(again hopefully but proably)
Hallia
I was a H/G shipper, and now I see that we were right guys! I was so hopeful that this would happen because I think Ginny is simply the perfect match for him, as I have explained in previous posts. I was so happy when Harry kissed her and so sad when I foresaw he was going ot leave her(not exactly foresaw, JK hints it a couple of pages before). I just hope that they do get back together at some point.
Jerry
Harry telling Ginny that they couldn't be togther made me far more upset than DD dying...

I don't think it's over though, they won't be able to ignore each other at Bill and Felurs wedding, and she is far to headstrong to give up on him "I never really gave up on you"

Still hope yet smile.gif
mellywelly
OMG! i was so excited when they started going out they were so sweet together! but it was sad when harry had to brake up with her but im sure they'l end up together in the end and that harry going to have a hard time at burow for the wedding...

Yeah, first time posting on this forum ...I'm a rookie here as far as the message board goes, but I've been reading this site for quite some time. Anyways....

Ya know, I never really wanted Harry and Hermione to get together ...and now, after Book 6, I hope they never do. I honestly think I would burn all the books if those two got together. They're all wrong for each other. I've never been more happy in the Harry Potter series than when Harry got together with Ginny ...and, frankly, I'm not really sure why either. Nevertheless, I found myself rather lighthearted when they finally showed some PDA there at the Quid Cup celebration.

Personally, Ron and Hermione just belong to each other. There has been a relationship there underneath the surface for quite some time. When I was reading through the theories though, people would say they thought H/Hr were gonna happen because she would usually show more physical affection towards Harry ...but we gotta think about this. They were between the ages of 11 and 14 when that was all happening, and I don't know about you guys, but when I was around that age ...when someone actually liked someone, often they would be more reserved around them ....or at least SOME people would be like that, and I think that's the case with Hermione and Ron.

Long post ...so I better sum it up. Ginny is an excellent choice for Harry. She is one of the few girls that can understand all the persecution and pain that Harry has been through, and, not to mention, she has always been at his side, no matter what. She's athletic, popular, and attractive ...what's not to like. I was extremely disappointed when Harry pulled a Spider-Man/Peter Parker thing and told her they couldnt be together because she would be in more danger. Personally, I don't think she would MUCH safer away from Harry, and, also, I think she would be an important key in helping Harry ....But in the end, I think they WILL get back together and I ALSO think Harry will defeat the V Man by channeling hers and Hermione's and Ron's (yadda yadda yadda's) love for him to Voldemort. It always said V never understood the power of love.

You know, for a while I was a H/Hr shipper...but after re-reading the series and reading HBP, I am H/G all the way. There is so much evidence in all the books it's amazing I didn't see it before.

As to Harry breaking up with her, I don't think that will last long, and I think Ginny will be key in Harry's final battle with Voldemort. I read in a review of HBP that it was sad that Harry was so far trying to sacrifice his love for people in order to save them, and that maybe, what will save Harry, and everyone, in the end, will not be his ability to give up his love, but his ability not to.
muggleview
Congratulations to all H/G supporters. Jo Rowling has confirmed our guess. The most important to remember: Ginny has never given up on Harry (it's canon). Harry has never been happier with anyone else beside Ginny (it's canon).
In the future (book 7 or beyond), Jo Rowling may suddenly change her mind (I hope not), but the canon proofs from book 6 will linger.
Let's enjoy the moment and exchange our excitements.
mioneweasley_witch
I am sooo happy. This ship is great and developed! Now that they had lots of proof.
I totally think that they WILL get back together.
It is like Spiderman and a lot of other movies/television/books. The whole hero thing that the hero will put the girl in danger. Usually ends happy! smile.gif
Amyrat151
Mmm...not surpised about him pulling a Peter Parker, or for those who wacthed Roswell, a Max Evans. It's common enough, "I have to catch the aliens, or fight the vampires, or fight the fight...I'm destened and it will put you in danger."
To some fans I'm sure it was a little unseemly the way Harry fell for her. I don't think so. He was still sad about Siruis and got used to her company in the Burrow. Also she's not just Ginny, but a Weasley, she is the family Harry has never had and the one he desperatly wants. It's a purer love, more so the one for Cho anyway.

I don't think that Ginny will let Harry go it alone. I think she'll stand by him . Ginny is a powerful, loyal and determined witch!
tonks1118
OMG I am so happy that Ginny and Harry got together and I am proud to say that I thought this would happen since the second book! And I agree with marie saying that she will help him defeat voldemort for sure. And then I was thinking that it would be so cute when they got married because Ron would be Harry's best man and then Hermione would be Ginny's maid of honour or the other way around whoever got married first!

And I don't think JK Rowling can give up on this because I am sorry but what kind of depressing book would the seventh one be if the main character that the entire point of the books was based upon died (and i don't think he will) and didn't get the girl in the end??? and we know that is Ginny because she makes him so happy.
muggleview
Ah, the flowery scent. That's something you don't pick up just once. Harry has been in the Burrow since the summer of the first year (COS). There he spoke to Ginny for the first time. He kept picking up the scent year after year, enjoying it immensely and didn't consciously realise it's coming from Ginny (presumably the only girl with the flowery scent in the Burrow). Harry only knows he is happy when the flowery scent is near. Very effective way of Jo Rowling to tell the readers how long Harry has this feeling.
di_the_mad_muggle
i totally luv the whole h/g relationship, i literally jumped out of my seat when i read that part when he kissed her, they are mage for each other, the best ships happen that way, you know someone forever and then one day something hits you like a brick, and that's it. they will get back together. all great women stand by their man, patiently if they really care.
Amyrat151
That's kinda beautiful, Muggy. Funny though, how he just thought of the smell as "from the Borrow." Not yet knowing his feelings, but knowing that it comes form "his second favorite place it the world," or the place that will be more live home to him than the Dursley's will ever be.
Lulu
I've never been a Harry/Ginny supporter before reading the book, but after that quidditch match, when Harry kissed Ginny and they went together for real, I have to admit that they reallt fit, and are perfect together.
I doubt that they won't be together anymore in the next book.
I'm now a highly Harry/Ginny supporter whi begs JKR to stick them together. smile.gif
muggleview
Do you feel relieved, Ellen? I do. Seeing H/G finally making contact and going out so smoothly. I share similar feeling with di_the_mad_muggle!
For all new ones, welcome! Glad to enjoy the excitements of H/G together.

FigureEight66
I hope that JKR makes the harry/ginny relationship kind of like the one between Peter and Mary Jane in Spiderman 2: she decides that she doesn't care what he thinks and doesn't care about the risks involved. It would be torture if that was the end!
muggleview
FigureEight66, I think Ginny has exactly the attitude that Mary Jane showed. Only Jo Rowling may want to keep it for the next book. Remember, book 6 supposed to contain cliffhangers. Ginny's reaction was intentionally not registered. The book ended abruptyly a few minutes after that. Harry left Ginny, Rufus intercepted him, Ron and Hermione met him afterwards, and Harry was reminded that he still had to go to the Burrow. The End. Now I can expect, if Jo Rowling added one more paragraph, it could be:
"Hang on" Harry smelled the familiar flowery scent. He knew Ginny was behind him and he knew exactly what she wanted to ask him and he couldn't refuse it. Ron and Hermione moved away from him, hand-in-hand, giving a furtive smile to him. biggrin.gif Feel free to incorporate it to your future fan-fic.
Amyrat151
No Muggy I think that Harry will stand by his chocie for a while, having to wacth Ron and Hermione. Also Ginny saying"Why Harry is it ok for them and not ok for us?" I see the pain and the longing, **, that will be one good book.

MOD EDIT: Don't you think you're old enough a member to still forget not to swear on the forums? Please be careful next time.
muggleview
Ellen,

Looking forward to reading your fanfics. I am not a writer type.
Actually I think you are right. Harry will be alone until the battle with Voldemort. I just hope to read more Harry/Ginny inbetween. My fear is Harry has to bring Ginny along because the Burrow becomes unsafe (I don't want to think about any deaths there).
Jo must be preparing one more roller-coaster ride for H/G. They are the main pairing right now. The readers are to be presented with fireworks from their relationship.
lily_evans_potter
I love Harry/Ginny almost as much as I do Ron/Hermione (and I love that ship a LOT). I think Ginny will probably except Harry's wishes to not be with him because she knows it is only for her's and his' safety. I just really hope that Harry doesn't die. Because if he does kill Voldemort and doesn't die, he is definitely gonna be back with Ginny! I'm sooo happy that they finally expressed their feelings for each other! The ships were probly the best part of HBP!
lemonjam
Ok where to start, i definately think harry and ginny belong together. I knew Harry was going to try and break it off with Ginny, but there is now way she will let him do it. She may let him think he has done it but in reality she will be in control of their relationship. Besides she is perfect for him. She is the only female character who can stand up to harry when he is mad, he does not intimidate her. I hope in the next book by the half way point harry will wake up and realize he needs her. Isn't harry's ablility to love what will make him stonger than voldemort? Their relationship will make him a stronger wizard and help him kick Voldemorts butt.

Wow, thanks Muggy. I actually have already strated planning a story, but I put them to paper, but I think I'll try to get it on this cite Checkmated.com, which I is a very good site. Sigh, they have standers that I wasn't able to get my one story on. But try and try again. But I've always been the writer type.
I'm actually getting excited for it now smile.gif, ok back on topic. I just loved the way she wrote their first kiss.
gryffin_hauz_88
Wow! What can I say! We made it! When I was reading H/G scenes (I'm not yet finish with the book because I'm busy with my paper works), oh my! I'm thinking of what I'm going to type and tell my fellow supporters about the development of the ship! And I'm also wondering what would be your reactions regarding this (especially Muggy biggrin.gif )

So... I'm out of here again. I don't want to hear any spoilers about them. I'll just come back after I finish the book so that I could share other obvious and hidden rolleyes.gif evidences about Harry and Ginny!

Continue this so alive thread,

Hey everyone - just wanted to say congratulations to all H/G shippers! It just goes to show - if you want something badley enough....
Sparky48
wow, who would have thought it, i actually really love this ship. I'm sure muggleview can remeber the days when i protested against it (im not sure whether i can say strongly, but i did a little anyway). This was always my second fav, to h/hr, but i never really saw it happening, but it did even if it didn't last. i honestly don't think ginny will come back for him until after voldermort is dead ( hoping that harry's still alive of course) only because she seemed to understand what harry mean when he told how bad he would feel if it was Ginny's funeral.

also it works so well. You know with that whole, people pick partners by how they might relate to their parents?? well ginny has red hair like lily, but she also has that strength, talent, and loyalty about her too. Like how she stuck up for luna, just like how lily stuck up for snape. and h/g are also so relaxed with each other, unlike harry and cho. so it's so much nicer to read about it.

anyway, it would be cute if she tracked him down while he's trying to find the remaing Horcruxes. but like i said i love this ship, support it completly and hope it sails at the end of the series.

PS: couldn't contain myself, had to put in this msg. lol if anyone can remeber the days when i use to debate often, you might remember those complaints i made about my computer being silly. WEll i found out what was wrong. My internet pages just weren't refreshing itself. rolf.... jeeze that funny. so i've finally fixed and don't to worry abou that anymore. hehe...
Amyrat151
Wow Sparky, I only remember to well dabating with you, sigh, the good ol' days smile.gif. But now here we are posting at the same thread supporting the same thing, funny how things change and grow.
I'm not sure that Harry will wait after he finishes Voldermort to get back with Ginny. I can see it going both ways.
GinevraW
hi everyone. firstly i would like to say i love the HBP mostly because of H/G. i found it quite amusing how i was more affected towards harry and ginny's relationship than dumbledore's death. anyways sorry to bring up the spider-man harry potter comparison however i have noticed with great interest that in the first spider-man movie peter parker did not pursue a relationship with mary jane and he told her that in a funeral (his best friend's dad's death). this is similar to harry breaking his relationship with ginny in dumbledore's funeral. i think its a sign that they are meant to be together just like peter and mary jane. one thing i also noticed is that mj has red hair similar to ginny and peter parker had glasses (before he became spider-man) like harry. just thought i'd mention it

My Mom said the exact same thing as you. The whole Spider-Man deal...I was trying to tell my Mom last night--"Hello, it's JK Rowling not Stan Lee!"

I am so upset at how Harry Broke up with Ginny--Those two were my Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston sad.gif
*cho_chang*
firstly i want everyone to know i LOVE HBP.
now,i think the h/G comination rocks! it was kinda
predictable,though.

i cant wait till the next book to see jow their
relationship is going. i hope they stay
together, cause ginny iant dumb, she can look
after herself (but it is sweet that harry cares for
her that much).
muggleview
Sherma, why would you want to know my reaction, especially? huh.gif
Of course I am laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
I believe so are you when you finished the book biggrin.gif
Congratulation, mate.

Sparky48, in all honesty I've put those behind. smile.gif
From now on, let's enjoy H/G together.

We can speculate what will happen in book 7. Will they hook up at the very end? or never sad.gif ?
GinevraW made a sharp observation of the similarity with Spiderman. That worries me a bit, wondering if Jo's pride will let her write like that movie.
Two things are sure:
1. Ginny loves Harry.
2. Harry loves Ginny.
Will they be together? Hope Jo get into her sense to make it happen.

gryffin_hauz_88
Because I know that you're one of the happiest readers of Harry Potter after reading HBP. laugh.gif

I really want to believe in these words...
If you love someone, set them free, when they come back, then you're meant to be.

I could say that these words are exact for Ginny. And now, I could say that these are now applicable to both of them, Harry and Ginny.

Actually, muggy, I was looking at everyone's sig when yours caught my attention, and now, though Ron and Hermione are obvious, Harry and Ginny are reality... laugh.gif

I know, they are meant for each other and they will be together in the end. Let's continue the hope we have before, when they are just, well... not really obvious. I think we are holding so many things about to them, that even a small doubt is not allowed... tongue.gif

lol the good ol' days alright. but there gone now, time to embrace the new. rofl. like you said, isn't it amazing how we change. Anyway god hope they get back togethor at the start, because then we can enjoy a whole book with them. it would be sooo cute. don't ya think. a like what gryffin_hauz_88 said...abou the whole "if you love someone let it go,". hopefully ginny will come back.

muggle-marauderess
Does anyone know the legal age for wizard marriages? If there really aren't going to be any more books after 7 then maybe we could see a very happy ending for these 2?
FrEcKlEd
Ah, the Harry/Ginny thread. I missed it so.

I hadn't posted on Veritaserum's forums for about..an entire school year, until HBP's release.

And I just had to come back and celebrate with my fellow H/G-shippers.

I wasn't surprised, but I was really happy. My favorite bits where the "flowery" smell of the love potion that kept returning, and when Harry and Ginny unexpectedly kiss. So much more romantic/spontenious than "mistletoe"..grr.

For me, shipping H/G came naturally. Ever since the second book, I have thought "Hm, I wonder..?" But I am a hopeless romantic, someone who understands what it is like to be hopelessly enamored by someone and feel like there is 0 chance of being together, and I always felt Ginny (and I!) deserved this. And I am 100% positive they will reunite by the end of 7, if one or both doesn't die..

But anyway, are you not thinking (a tiny, evil part) - "I told you so?"

edit - muggle-maraudress; I would guess 17, since at 17 a wizard is considered an adult. I too wondered if H/G might tie the knot, but she would only be 16...
Amyrat151
16 is just too young. But 18 and 19 isn't smile.gif, I think Harry and Ginny need to be together in a no-married way for about a year after school to make sure they're relationship wasn't just from the war. Those life or death situations are always all sexy and everything. But it just seems to sudden.
Sparky48, good for you, being supportive, not sulking over the lose of H/Hr, but celabareting over what can be gained by moving on.
I think that Ginny and Harry will reunite, it's a question of when.
muggleview
They can get married as soon as they leave Hogwarts.
However, they may want to find steady jobs first, like Bill and Fleur, before doing so. Realisticly, in the summer a year after their graduation, Ron and Hermione may get married, with Harry as the best man and Ginny as the maid of honor. Meanwhile, Harry and Ginny can also get married a few days after that, because Harry has been working for a year while Ginny is finishing school. They need to start early to achieve 12 children as Trelawney predicted. Poor Ginny, eh? Nah. Ginny will get a lot of help. Harry will certainly help. Molly will definitely help as well.
I still think Harry and Ginny's love will be the ultimate weapon against Voldemort.
kool kat
It would be cute if it was a double wedding! Nah, not really Harry Potter...ish. But, I definately see them getting married at some points in their lives. Maybe Ron and Hermione next summer as they've known eachother for so long, and Harry and Ginny a while after that, when they know eachother a little better.
Amyrat151
No double weddings, it's so chessy. I see Hermione and Ron getting married sometime after Hogwarts, but only like a year. I don't think her parents will be to crazy about that, they might of never meet Ron, slow down guys.
kool kat
Yeah, in general double weddings are cute, but in Harry Potter they're rather out of place. And good point, I didn't think of that, I don't think the Grangers have even met Ron. Of course the Weasleys have met Hermione, though. But you're right, they need t familiar themselves with each others families.
AstroFire
Well, after a long battle against H/Hr and H/L shippers i can finally say it'll all be ok. I knew it was going to happen, the hard thing was to make others know it, because they insisted in some out-of-context quotes and some "possible" feelings. Anyway, I was LLL in the boards and i can only say im very very happy this finally happened. They are meant to be (sorry if i'm a little bit fluffy, but yesterday i just said a girl i liked her, and well, right now everything is perfect for me 'cause she said yes). I just hope they can reunite after the war is over, and i hope JKR write a sequel about them.
