Hi i'm new!

In goblet of fire there's a goblet that a student puts his/her name in ,if he/she wants to enter the triwizard tournament, and the same goblet is supposed to be a prize for the winner right?

But in the goblet of fire movie, it seems that there are two goblets one for puting someone's name in, and one for the winner to take home.

isn't that rather displeasing?
or did I missed something from the book?

I always assumed that the winners trophey was different to the choice cup

I'm pretty sure they're two different cups, mate. One's the Goblet, the other's the Triwizard Cup...isn't it??

I'm pretty sure that after the last name popped out, DD explained that the Goblet's fire only happens once a year or soemthing, and they rest of the time it's in his office.Then Harry's name comes out.

So yah, the Triwizard cup has to be different than the Goblet of Fire, because the Goblet is done with it's duties after the last name comes out.

Yeah, the Goblet of Fire is like the Sorting Hat...It stays in the possession of whoever runs the tounament. The Triwizard Cup was supposed to be the gold one that was turned into a portkey.

Is anyone else surprised at the size of the goblet? I sort of imagined it to be smaller...more like a cup that you could drink out of.

Yeah, QQS (sorry...hope you don't mind the initials...it just gets a little tiring typing out long usernames sometimes... ), I was a little surprised too. I kind of imagined it a little bigger than a drinking goblet though...more like one of those novelty pint wine-glass sizes, you know? Not like a garden urn... But hey, I like it, it's better than what I had in mind. Guess it's just as well I'm not in charge of the production design, hey?

I just finished reading the part in GoF that describes the goblet and it says it looks like a normal drinking glass, except for the flame coming out of it. I think the goblet looks perfect!

Those pint sized glasses are supposed to be novelties? Whoa.....learn something new everyday.

Still think it's kinda big, but the movies gonna be good anyways. I'm not going to see the Goblet, which has a small part to play despite the name of the book.

I agree. 2 different cups. I've seen the trailer and they both look pretty cool though. Can't wait.

Yeah, there are two cups. The Goblet of Fire, in which it would be the one to choose who would join the Triwizard Tournament and the other one is the Triwizard Cup, which will be given to the winner.

Well, the Goblet that I imagined is a big one, but a little smaller that in the movie. I wonder if this what JK was thinking about the Goblet.

the goblet of fire is different from the cup (which is a portkey) in the maze. you got the point that the goblet of fire is used to placed the names of the representatives (i can say) of each school. and the goblet will be the one to decide whether or not they areto join the triwizard tournament. but the triwizard cup was different thing. so don't be confused okie dokie!

The Goblet is definently not the same as the cup for the winner. I'm in the middle of rereading the Goblet of Fire, and there is a particular line in the book that says word for word:
"You will set up the Goblet of Fire once more, and we will continue adding names until each school has two champions. It's only fair, Dumbledore."
"But Karkaroff, it doesn't work like that," said Bagman. "The Goblet of Fire's just gone out - it won't reignite until the start of the next tournament -"

Umm you do realize that what you're asking is illegal? You can't download movies like that off the Net like that, mate. You'd be asking for trouble, you would. Furthermore, the 4th movie is not even out yet - it's only releasing November 18th.

There is definetily two different cups.
The goblet of fire is a different object then the portkey.

Yea. There are definitely two cups. At first I wondered myself when I read because it made me think because I never really thought if there were two cups or whatnot but now that I think about it, there are two cups. Though in the movie, the Goblet of Fire looks huge. It looks amazing though. I guess if they had gone with the book with the normal goblet and fire coming out of it, I guess it wouldn't have been as exciting or captivating for the movie and the mood wouldn't be as intense I guess lol.

Yes. The Goblet of Fire is an entirely seperate object than the Triwizard Cup. The Goblet is where the students enter their name and it announces the champion for each school, and the Triwizard Cup is a different cup. It's the one that is placed in the maze that is turned into the portkey by Moody. Different items.
I, too, pictured the cup and goblet differently than they were in the movie, but I think they made them look neat.
