Ok, I found this on Mugglenet...
We've all heard that Dumbledore knows pretty much everything that goes on at Hogwarts. He also didn't care if he lost all his acclaim except taking his face off the chocolate frog cards. Perhaps Dumbledore is using the chocolate frog cards of himself in the same way that the portraits of old headmasters spy on others. After all, look at all the times Harry and Ron have gotten chocolate frog cards with his picture on them. --by Sara
And this is what Mugglenet had to say...
* Note from Emerson: That's definitely possible, but maybe it was just a humorous quote JKR added to remind us why Dumbledore is so cool.
What do you think? I think it is totally a possibility.

Jun 18 2004, 07:54 PM
Maybe. His picture is on it and Ron said he had already like 6 of him so his card is popular. And he can leave the card so I think that this is possible.

Jun 18 2004, 10:39 PM
hey that is agood point because in the first book his picture left the card. and since then we haven't heard of any character leaving the card. so ya I think is is a huge possibility

I do too. But how many people that are living are on the cards? What if the only living people that have a card can leave there cards? Ohhh i was reading a fanfic and in the story Harry got his own card. Do you think that will happen?
Patronus

I don't think the people would have to be living to be spies. Remember Sirius's relative? (I forget his name, he was the least popular headmaster ever of Hogwarts) His painting version of himself was capable of such things even though he himself had died years ago.
Although I think that theory is possible, I think it's more likely just a statement that was meant to add a tad of humor.

Ooooo... I really like this theory... Just like the wizards in Dumbledore's office who move from painting to painting in other places.. Little Dumbledores running around all over the wizarding world!
Ooooo... Now there is a thinker.

Yeah, and remember the one thing Dumbledore was worried about in book 5 was having his face taken off the cards.

^^that is soo true! i think that he has been using the cards to "get around"
PrettynPink8004
Jun 22 2004, 04:53 PM
I wonder if Dumbledore will tell anyone that in future books or if we'll find out. It just might be that he likes to see his face on the cards.
Naz
Jun 22 2004, 10:32 PM
he probably does like to see his face on the cards.but i think he uses them to get around.
PrettynPink8004
Jun 23 2004, 02:55 AM
Yeah, i wonder if anyone else does that. Like anyone else on the cards report to Dumbledore's card. lol
Naz
Jun 23 2004, 05:52 PM
it could be true

Jun 26 2004, 06:24 AM
I think its just a funny line proving how cool Dumbledore is.
PrettynPink8004
Jun 27 2004, 06:01 AM
yeah, it could just be that, but you never no what dumbledore has rolled up his sleeve, or his socks for that matter.
Voldemort
Jun 27 2004, 06:12 AM
I think it was just humor. I don't think Dumbledore could walk around through these cards. Not enough time, all that PLUS be Headmaster to Hogwarts, Leader of Order, plus fulfill all of his duties. I find it highly un likely.
LupariusMurilegus
Jun 27 2004, 04:46 PM
I think it's quite possible. I mean, the pictures of him are like seperate entities and so their movement wouldn't affect Dumbledore himself at all or interfere with his other duties. The pictures could move around on their owna and they could be quite helpful to him. Since the card is quite popular, most wizards/witches would probably own at least one. Especially if they have children. After all everyone eats chocolate(mostly). Besides, it'd be a very helpful way of communicating. Sort of anti-dark mark. Like, if an "Order" meeting was called the members of it could be told exclusively and there'd be no way of a Death Eater finding out about a meeting...
Voldemort
Jun 27 2004, 08:16 PM
That is true, but there is probably some other way, not the cards.

Jun 27 2004, 08:17 PM
I still dont see dumbledore as a sneaky person who would need spies, its just not him.

Jun 27 2004, 08:22 PM

It wouldn't be creepy if only the adults used those cards to communicate to him. Like, he wouldn't have to use EVERY card just the ones Order members had. The other ones would just be regular. They could be like the Dark-Mark or the trick Galleon
Voldemort
Jun 28 2004, 07:05 PM
yeah i agree.

If dumbledore was using them, then she would definately tell us by the end.

Jun 30 2004, 05:53 AM
Yeah, I doubt whther she would keep it secret.
PrettynPink8004
Jun 30 2004, 04:30 PM
Yeah, she would tell us, but would she just through it in there at the end of a book like the veil in book 5/

Remember DD's talk with Harry at the end of OotP? Where he said:
"Is there a defense? I defy anyone who has watched you as I have--and I have watched you more closely than you can have imagined--not to want to save you more pain than you had already suffered."
Maybe he is using the cards to watch Harry?

Maybe GHOSTS, follow them around and update him. Cuz I doubt Harry walks around with a card looking upon Harry. I think Dumbledore has something else on Harry.

i dunno if a ghost is just gonna follow harry around....i think harry is bugged in some other way tht he would never take time to notice....

Dumbledore also could have just been talking about Someone from the order following him around.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH. Maybe it was crookshanks. Because Hermione bought Crookshanks before the the school remember. Maybe Crookshanks waits for Albus at night and tells him whats going on? Or something like that...or the fireplace, some other way of communication.
Phoenix
Jul 1 2004, 10:46 PM
ohh i never really thought of tht, but tht could be a good posibility cause crookshanks always welcomes harry when he enters the gryffindor common room and sticks around while theyre hvin their conversations around the fireplace...

I think what Dumbledore means is that he pays more attention than Harry thinks. At the beginning Harry believes Dumbledore just forgets about him every summer. However, it is possible that Mrs Figg constantly updates Dumbledore about Harry and we don't know if he was being watched more closely before by other wizards

Zactly! Teens tend to slip into that mode where they think the world is out to get them and no one cares. I think by that statement DD was just reassuring Harry that he was cared about and he wasn't forgotten.

I understand that harry was feeling alone and like people were treating him like a child, but harry isnt always right. I know hes done a lot but he has to trust dumbledore because dumbledore has achieved a lot more and is wiser than harry. Dumbledore knows best...
