To avoid confusion, let's just assume that you must be 11 by September 1st to start at Hogwarts. (because somewhere I read that wizards are sent an owl near their 11th birthday about going to Hogwarts; I think it was on mugglenet)

I'd be in the 6th year, although I would have missed being a 7th year by only a couple of months.

I would be a 4th year. Something tells me, besides the fact that Goblet of Fire is my favorite of the series, that your 4th year is your best year at Hogwarts. You're no longer little, but you aren't towering above the rest of your house, either. You get to enjoy spending time with friends without getting picked on by older classes, without OWLs or NEWTs to worry about, and not a worry about what you'll do after Hogwarts is over...

Your 4th year sounds swell! (If you think about it, the seven years of Hogwarts are like middle and high school in the US, and coincidentally, I'll be going into 9th grade this year....sort of like my 4th year in middle & high school)

Yep, Happy Birthday a day early! (I typed Harry there at first, I have a habit of doing that. hehe) My sister's birthday is today, so she'd be going into 4th year. It's rather scary when I think about it. In real life though she's three grades behind me.

I said I would be going into my 7th year because I'm going to be a senior next fall, but if we're going by the Sept. 1 cut-off date, I'd only be going into my 6th year as I miss the cut-off by 4 days. My birthday is Sept. 4. But if we're going by that, Hermione would be in the year behind Harry and Ron right? Because her birthday's the 19th of Sept.?

Not being mean Erin G but if we went by what year the books were set Haryy would be out of school. hehe But if it is the book we are on isn't he still sorta fifth well until we get to the 6th book or am I confused. haha Anyway ya I think I'd be fifth. You know what she is. Her birthday is September 19th. Usually your one of the older ones if your birthday is in September. I never thought of her being older. hmm... but is she older or younger then Harry because his birthday is July 31, so is it by the time Harry was just 11 a month and a half later Hermione is 12. Is that how it is. I know thats how it is in the muggle world but what about them? hmm.. Sorry I went a little off topic.

I think what usually confuses me is that Emma Watson's younger than the lads, so like...yeah...
