Crucio
Mine is either Grand Theft Auto San Andreas or Medal of Honor Europian Assult - Both awsome games cool.gif
avrilluver
well, i dont have ps2. or anything. tongue.gif all i have is my computor, but on here i like to play the sims2, 1602AD and zoo tycoon 2. i'm pretty sure this going to get closed down, though. unsure.gif
Crucio
Well its ok that you dont have a ps2 but if you did what do you think would be your favorite game?
avrilluver
i told you what my favorite games are. i think some of them are for ps2 also. i really have no idea.
Louise
Mmm....I ummed and ahhed about this for a while, but this thread is a bit more generic than individual games, so, seeing as how we don't have a favourite game threads at the moment, I'll let this one slide, although I really would have preferred it if you had contacted a moderator first...as we've asked everyone to do within the rules pages - which I sincerely hope you've read. wink.gif

Anywho, as I said, I'll let this stay open, but I hope the discussions broaden out a little bit from what they appear to have done so far.

Avril has answered the question, so maybe we should move it along a bit, okay? smile.gif

Thanks.
Bandoth
Well, my favorite isn't really a ps2 game, but it can be played on the ps2... and the computer... and was made for ps1... Anyway, it's Final Fantasy 7. It had the greatest story I've ever seen, and all those twists and turns had me reading Sephi's text bubbles with drool coming out of my mouth... He really is the ultimate game villian, isn't he?
newbie
Right now my favorite is MLB 2K5 but I also like Chessmaster 3000 and the DBZ Budokai games. Usually I play fighting games like the Tekken games or thinking games.
Louise
Yep, Bandoth...Sephiroth certainly *is* the bane of my life right now, but that's mainly because I can't defeat him in the Platinum Match in Kingdom Hearts...dry.gif wink.gif I'd love to know the backstory between him and Cloud, but I don't want to wade through the whole game because, having been spoiled by the graphics in the later games in the series, I think it might be a little tough to stick with. But maybe we should move my ramblings on that over to the Final Fantasy thread, so I'll shut-up now...tongue.gif

Kingdom Hearts is a *very* addictive game, and probably my favourite at the moment, but only because it's related to my one true love...FF - VIII, X and X-2 in particular....wink.gif

Though 'True Crime' is pretty good too....and GTA3...great stress reliever, that one....tongue.gif

I've never really been into things like Tekken...I prefer RPG's personally...something with a bit of a story to it. I've seen my nephew playing Tekken and it seems that he just punches every button on the handset to me....though that *could* just be sour grapes because he whoops my hide just about every time we play....happy.gif
Bandoth
Indeed. I too like RPGs a lot, as does my brother. Right now we're playing through Icewind Dale 2 together. If you really wanted me to, I could fill you in on the whole FF7 story altogether in the FF thread. There are a few holes that I've had to fill in, so it may not be exactly like something you'd find on Google. But I do know the whole story as it's told. I had to play through it again this Spring because I never finished it. I was even thinking of doing this earlier for some reason... Anyway, what's Kingdom Hearts really like? I've seen some footage of it and it's never really intrigued me too much... But I've heard it's a really cool game. I just didn't like the look of it at first, being all cartoony and all...
Louise
I would *love* for you to fill me in on that backstory in the FF thread, if you don't mind...it would help Kingdom Hearts make more sense in that regard anyway...wink.gif Thanks in advance, mate!! smile.gif

As for Kingdom Hearts though, it definitely is worth it. I bought it for my nephew because he'd seen me playing FFVIII and X and he couldn't quite master that, so when when KH came out and it was sort of a crossover between FF and Disney characters, it seemed like something that he could do...

Boy, was I wrong...tongue.gif

Man, that game is hard...it's kind of like Zelda and FF in that the format is very much like FF, but you actually have to punch buttons to fight like you do in Zelda. The story itself is a *tad* slow in the beginning, but it's really worth sticking with...and it's not really overly 'Disney-fied' as you might expect. I didn't really like it at first, but once I started properly and *ahem*....*whispers* (my nephew showed me how to play it) *end whispers* tongue.gif....I couldn't stop..tongue.gif It's really challenging, honestly...especially when you get towards the end and you have to fight FF characters like Squall, Cloud and Sephiroth...who is really flippin solid, honestly....far harder than Penance in FFX. It's available on Platinum now, so you should be able to pick it up pretty cheaply in a second hand store or on Ebay if you wanted to try it...just incase you didn't like it. I'm pretty sure you would though, if you give it a try. If you loved FF, you'll love KH...wink.gif
I_love_Dan_Radcliffe
all of the harry potter ps2 games! and the hobbit game!
Crucio
ya tongue.gif this thread isnt going to get deleted ya
Louise
It certainly will if people are going to start posting one-liners like you just did, Crucio. mad.gif I'm assuming you've read the revised rules?

Come on guys....we give you a break with this thread and it's becoming another one-liner or list thing. In case no one's noticed yet, half of the threads like this have been locked and will shortly be deleted in the forum clean-up. If you don't want this one to go the same way, I suggest you all refresh yourself with the rules and please have a discussion here.

If all you have to say are one-liners then either don't post, or take it to the chatroom please.

I've edited the title of this thread to broaden the discussions to include other platforms.

I am one of those who actually don't like games where you'd die and then have this big font splashed on the screen that said 'Game Over' but then you can't be choosy when you were young and computer games are scarce. Which is why I'd stick to games like 'Monopoly' and the like... tongue.gif

How lucky teenagers today, you get to pick on games from the numerous collection at the store with almost the specification that you'll like. I discovered Myst: Trilogy (although they're having the 5th installment soon, so it's not exactly a 'trilogy' anymore... tongue.gif) when I was doing my thesis for virtual tour. And what attract me the most is the features at the back that said 'you'll never die in this game except at the very end of it and only if you pick on a wrong ending' and I said... ooohhh, I *definitely* have to try this one!! It's a sort of adventure-puzzle-mind-boggling game and I was awestruck by the details in the surrounding environments. I'm always an appreciator of art and I remembered pausing at the edge of a hill looking at the wide open sea. Lovely scenery...... wink.gif

But then halfway through, I was stucked and bored of trying, I quit. That's when I tried to look for any spoilers or cheats in the net... tongue.gif and they have lots and lots of what they call a 'walkthrough'. Man, I was chuffed to bits having finally be able to continue with the game! happy.gif After a few of those 'solutions' to puzzles, I thought what's the point of playing if I'd known the answer beforehand? And I quit the second time... sleep.gif

After a several months, I stumbled into what they call 'hints page' where they'll help you with hints as you go along but won't gives the solution straightaway. What a wonderful thing!! So, yeah... I've finally completed two of the trilogy a few days ago... wink.gif *phew* I can't wait to get my hand on the fourth installment now... wink.gif

So, anyone has played a 'you won't die in this game' before? Maybe you could recommend them to me... biggrin.gif

'Fraid I can't help you there, Zyra. I'm a huge fan of the first person shooter games; Medal of Honor, Halo, Battlefront etc. I like them the best because I don't play to many video games on my own; I get bored. So I like the games with good Co-op or multiplayer modes, where you can play with a friend. (SpyHunter is great to play against somebody; I really want one of those cars. tongue.gif )

But then I discovered the wonder of online games! wink.gif

I bought Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal, which is really challenging, and the levels go on and on...perfect if you've got some time on your hands, or feel like taking two months to play through a game.

But the best part about it is the multiplayer format. You can play local or online, or both at the same time, with up to eight people in a match...It's incredible. Addicting, really. I had to go cold turkey for about a week after I found it...I wasn't getting any paper's written.

So that's my currently favorite game, although I would suggest The Return of the King for anyone who likes the sort of combo-combat things, and Battlefront for a Haloesque game on the PS2.

Solembum
My favorite game is Final Fantasy X. This game is hands down the greatest game ever made. It was made in 2001 I believe and its graphics are still better then almost every game on the market today. The storyline is fantastic. The ending is amazing. The battle system is great. The replay value is great. I would give it a 17 out of 10!
Accio Xbox
Well, my favorite game that I own is either Halo or The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, and The Return of the King. I also really like the KOTOR series.

My favorite game I don't own, but have beaten, is Halo 2. Just a great series. Can't wait until Halo 3, or XBOX 360 at that!
Everte Statum
Starcraft Broodwar (PC). Quite an old game, but I played it a lot and even won local tournaments biggrin.gif Currently I play Linege II and Warcraft III Frozen Throne (all PC)

Solembum!!! Where've you been?!!!! We've missed you!!!! Only the other day I was fancying a new FF avatar and I clicked on your link (amazingavatars one) only to find the site wasn't working! I was gutted! I thought you'd deserted us!!

Well, I'm really glad to see you back and I hope you're going to stick around for a while!! biggrin.gif

Well, you know I'm not going to argue with you about FF.....particularly X and X2 - completely unsurpassed graphics, even by today's standards. I just wish they'd hurry up and release another one!! I've just discovered the wonders of FFVII thanks to Bandoth, so that's keeping me going for the moment, but I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms if they don't release a new one soon...tongue.gif

But nah, I'm afraid I can't help you out there either Zyra....I'm pretty choosy in the games I buy, so I tend to stick to things in a series, like HP, FF or occasionally, if I'm feeling like a FPS, then maybe Goldeneye (on the Ninendo64...yes, mine *is* still working...tongue.gif), so I'm pretty much an RPG girl really....

Anyone tried Revenge of the Sith? Is it any good? Any fighter piloting in there or is it all lightsabers and Force acrobatics?
Crucio
Dana Scully i am sorry for that one linerwhat i meant to say is that im glad this fourum wont get close oh yeah and i have a new favorite game its called HALO 2 oh yeah the absulute best game in the world biggrin.gif
Stina
I like the PS2 HP games, they are rather interesting.

But my favourite/s are the Ratchet and Clank games, they have some really weird twists. 3 so far i hope they bring another one out soon.

Oh, Dana_Scully, i'll have to ask my nephew about Revenge of the Sith, he's a Star Wars freak at the moment. But that will be replaced by HP again when the next movie comes out, even if he's not allowed to watch it!
Soumnek
My most favorite video game so far?

Hmmm...

I would have to say Knights of the Old Republic. Although it is mainly supported by the storyline, believe me, that's all you need. It's a rush from beginning to end. (Especially the big suprise at the end)

And what do I think about Knights the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords?

The mythology and background story is good, but the main story is full of holes. I personally think that the graphics are worse on this version, although the animations have improved. The game is too easy once you get your players to the higher levels.

Wishing you would buy this game, an Xbox 360 (yeah!), and long nights filled with online multiplayer madness,

LOL, Dana, what are you talking about? Nintendo64 is handsdown the greatest system ever built! Goldeneye rocks(specially Oddjob) and my personal favorite was a vamped version of Bomberman..lol. I also liked the Star Fox games because I like the flying/shooter games.

Yeah, somebody mentioned Star Wars: Return of the Sith, and it's great. It's a little more actiony than LotR Return of the King, but it's still the basic game type; combo attacks and such, sort of like Soulcaliber in the multiplayer, too.

Ratchet and Clank is incredible, like I think I said earlier. I've managed to get over my withdrawls from the online multiplayer, but I had to stick the controllers in a closet wink.gif

Halo 2 is incredible, especially the multiplayer. But the campaign mode is fun, especially on co op mode, so..yeah. Lame ending, I know. dry.gif tongue.gif
Miseria
American McGee's Alice is by far the best game ever!! Though it is for PC, but I'm hoping that there will be multi-player game coming out for PS2 that would be awesome.
zaneyb3000
I've been entertaning myself with SSX3 lately. I'm also a closet DDR-fan.

Well, I don't know about that....mine is really buggy. I thought at first that it might have been the Zelda:Majora's Mask game, but then it started going a bit weird and freezing all the time on other games too, so I guess it must have been the system. dry.gif And yep, I did the whole getting down on my hands and knees to blow the dust out of the cartridge thing... tongue.gif

I was pretty gutted about it actually because I had one of the limited edition Pokemon consoles too...I thought it would be worth a fortune on Ebay one day...tongue.gif No such luck, sadly.....

Goldeneye and Super Mario Bros were pretty cool though...tongue.gif
RedLancerX
hmm... havent posted in awhile.... more like a few months dry.gif
too busy with studies, anyway my favourite game is World Of warcraft. Best game so far i seen and played, it is worth to buy it.
PotterPeep
San Andreas is NOTHING to the greatness of A Link to the Past...

Fufufu, most games on the SNES totally own anything the PS2 can throw at them.

Anyways, my favs. are:

Super Mario RPG- One of the best RPG's of all time in my opinion, great battles, a good length, awesome replayabiltity, and the best graphics you could find on the SNES. Simply the perfect game.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past- I must be on my 30th playthrough of this game by now. And even though Ive memerised which rooms to go through in each dungeon, and can complete it in around 4 hours, it still hold my attention. If that doesnt make it perfect, I dont know what does.

Secret of Mana- One of the best action rpg's out there. It had a great story with many plot twists, VERY difficult battles, and a great ending. I only beat this one once, I never wanted to put the time into doing it again...

Super Mario All Stars- A great game, combing all the greatest Mario games of all time. Seriously, no 3D games have anything against this masterpiece collection, it doesnt get much better.

So maybe I am a bit to old school, but hey, these are all amazing games, and you cant get much better.
harrykarry
i really like diablo 2 right now im gettin into it a lot, just beat it on regualr now oin for nightmare i got some really good stuff
on the same note, does anyone know anything if they are makin diablo 3 or not?
Vivi
My favorite game is Final Fantasy IX, but I also like the other Final Fantasies. Kingdom Hearts is, in my opinion, also a very good game. Though it took me forever to finish (I've had for about two years when I first finished is, but it was a cool game). Right now I'm into Legaia 2: Duel Saga and so far I love it. Just wondering if anyone of you played Legend of Legaia (the first one), if yes what did you think of it?
I really liked it, especially the fighting style, putting in commands, arts and stuff. I think Legend of Legaia is a bit underestimated, are there any who share my opinion?

And of course one of the best games ever made was Chrono Trigger. I've finished it and wanted to play the new game+ ehen someone erased it, and now I have to start all over again. But I really find this one of the best games out there, even if it's a bit old-school.
Also I think the Zelda-series rock my socks. (I'm very ashamed that I've never finished one of them though ph34r.gif )
keepstar1331
Ahh..video games. hehe. I play Quidditch world cup all the time when im by myself. But lately me and my friend play Halo 2 alot. We play teams of four and network them systems together. Then we sit in different rooms and play the first to like 100 kills. Ahh.. quality times. I may be the only girl alive who wants to play Halo every night...
Feeder
RPG's are by far my favorite genre, but their are a few others I like. Halo 2 I like for live, but my connection is so bad that I have probably one of the worst lags on live, it sucks.

The KOTOR series is something I really like. Fable was also one I enjoyed, but I found it too easy and short. I can't wait for the next Elder Scrolls game to come out, it looks amazing.

My all time favorite games/series are KOTOR and Halo.
penny_for_your_thoughts
I don't play video games. I don't play video games at all whatsoever. Everyone else seems to, but I honestly don't care because I wouldn't know how to anyway.
secretkeeper
My friends, we always play 007 games. Great game to settle an arguement on. Halo is a cool game but I'm not a huge fan. GTA has kinda gotten old so I haven't played it in a while. But my absloute favorite game is Need 4 Speed Underground 2. I drive an Evo so I liek to 'pimp' those out. My parents won't let me do that to my car even though I have the money to do it. sad.gif
Vincent
I like a lot, but my favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy IX. I like pretty much all of the Final Fantasy games, but that one is my favorite. I love the storyline to death, and the battle system is very fun.
bonniewright
Halo 2 or FFVIII i love it and havent got 9. X and VII come close along with KOTOR & Fable. Forzamotorsport and Sudeki are great along with Sonic Heroes and adventure 2: Battle
Beethoven
I personally think video games are a waste of time.

It's funny, because I used to be addicted to video games... then my mother forced me to read the first Harry Potter book, and I've been addicted to them ever since. My mother will regret that the rest of her life.

Ha ha! Anyway, I'm into books and reading now.

If I started playing video games, I know I'd be addicted again, so I keep my distance from them, otherwise I'd end up wasting away my life... *sigh*.
Dark Wizard MK
Tales of Symphonia(NGC) Pokemon Colloseum(NGC) Guild Wars(PC). Not a very big gamer. Oh, and my favourite type of games are RPG's. and Some First person shooters. Nintendo Gamecube rocks. :/

Lord Rage
Ps2 is the best system and the best games in that system are socom 2 and madden 2006 which just came out, especially online.
Dr.Knowitall
I play Dark Age of Camelot, Half Life 2 (and its mods), and Operation Flashpoint. I consider myself a bit better then the average gamer.
potter_artist
I haven't really played any video games for a long time (well, you know, I play them on PC) but I really like the Star Wars Jedi games, like Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast. I also like Age of Mythology, partly because it's fun, but also because I learn a lot about mythology and it helps in history class. Yah. My brother's the one who's really into that stuff, most of the games we own are actually his games. He doesn't like Harry Potter--he wanted to know what happened in HBP, so he picked it up and read the last ten pages!
Shellolly
The games I liked were all on the PS1, but my brother sold it and all our games to get an Xbox...dang.

I liked the Final Fantasy games a lot, especially VII. I also liked that game, Chocabo Racing...it was so fun! Of course, Tekken is always awesome.

Most of my real favourite games were on our old SuperNintendo. Man, Clay Fighters, Super Mario, Donkey Kong [1 and 2], and that one with the bat type thing that had to go through all the obstacles...Aero the Acrobat! Man, I miss my Super Nintendo.
Jenn
Super Mario Brothers for NES.

nothing beats that.

nothing.

</dramatic nerd moment>
...miia...
hi

i must say that my favourite video game is The Sims 2.

its really good and realist

***
gryffindor89
I'd probably have to say Kingdom Hearts and the Star Wars Episode III game on ps2 are my favorites, and The Sims 2 is my favorite on computer. They're really awesome games. But there's a ton more i like too.
Big D
how could i pick one, no sorry i cant do it!

I'm really into FPS's, the Halo, rainbow six and ghost recon series hardly ever leave my xbox! So they'r probably my faves out of the lot.
though i also really love the pro evolution soccer series, my brother and i have followed them since ISS on the playstation! ahh memories!
There arent many games i can just play constantly and keep the same interest level, never getting bored!

seeing as nearly everyone's mentioned the final fantasy series im going to go against the grain and say my favourite was 8. I just love the story, the fighting system was different and i enjoyed it much more than most of the others!

thats my lot!
Calypso Fern
I absolutely love Final Fantasy X. My favorite song right now, in fact, is "Suteki da Ne". It is simply beautiful. I would die and go to heaven if they made a movie out of FFX...but the game was almost as good as a movie, wasn't it? It would be awesome if they made all of the cut scenes with the amazing graphics of, for example, the Macalania Woods scene, on a special edition or something. FFX holds special meaning for me because my boyfriend and I played through the entire thing, just us two. May not sound like the most romantic thing in the world, but I thought it was cute. I guess that just goes to show how much of a dork I am tongue.gif
On that note I was wondering if anyone knows of any other good Final Fantasy forums? Thanks biggrin.gif

~Calypso~
Louise
I know of a few FF forums, but I don't really visit them much to be able to recommend them. You could always drop me a PM if you wanted and I could send them to you. wink.gif

In the meantime though, we do have a FF thread in the TV and Media forums here where you'll find fellow FF addicts, including me wink.gif tongue.gif

I loved that Macalania Woods scene too - and I thought the end was so gut-wrenchingly sad...amazing stuff though, honestly. I'm glad they made a sequal - I think I'd have died if they'd left it the way they did!! tongue.gif
Leptine
Sonic the hedgegog is the coolest game of all times!

-soul calibur(dreamcast) & soul calibur 2 if you like to fight white swords, axes and knives

-dino crisis 3(xbox)

-Age of empires 1&2 for pc

-doom 3(xbox): just like Quake or Unreal but more realistic and frightening

-The lord of the rings:the two towers (xbox,Ps2,Gamecube)
